Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "Fosrenol takes some time to get used to. It's a white chewable and tastes like chalk, but it works great at reducing phosphorus. I've tried four different binders, and it's the only one that made a significant difference in my lab results."

Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "Was on Renvela max dosage per day, so 12 pills a day didn't help at all with my phosphorus. I asked them to give me something stronger and they prescribed me Fosrenol 500mg 3 times a day. With Renvela max dose, it started to go down. I knew Renvela was not working, but they pushed me to take it. So for one month, I took only Renvela to see if it's working and it didn't do anything. So I told them, now let me just try Fosrenol 1000mg every meal time, and it worked. No side effects and no constipation. If you notice that your body is suggesting you try something else compared to what your doctor says, do it under their observation. I believe you are your own best doctor for your body."

Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "My doctor switched my medication from Renvela to Velphoro. The side effects (nausea and stomach pain) from the Velphoro were bad. I stopped taking Velphoro after two meals. The next day, the doctor switched me to Fosrenol. I’m glad that she did. Fosrenol does have a bit of a taste, but it is very subtle, but the best part, no side effects."

For Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "Tried two other brands but caused stomach ache. Finally tried Fosrenol chewables. No stomach pain. Works well to keep phosphorus levels down. Only complaint is they taste like a big piece of chalk! They should add vanilla flavoring like they do with Dairy Relief. So I have to take it with a couple of Jellie Bellies or 3 almonds."

For Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "The name brand FOSRENOL took a short time to adjust to the chalky consistency to swallow. Then, my insurance company would only cover the generic, LANTHANUM CARBONATE. This turns into more of a pasty consistency, which sticks to the teeth and is close to impossible to swallow. They need to work on the consistency to follow the name brand more closely."

Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "Tried it at 1000 mg three times a day, but had side effects. Cut back to breakfast only and no troubles. Has helped lower my phosphorus scores and have grown to like the flavor."

Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "They say no taste, but it made me gag every time I took it. Don't know the benefits, because I couldn't stay on it long enough."

Lanthanum carbonate for Hyperphosphatemia of Renal Failure "Was on Renvela, but my phosphate was through the roof, and Neph kept threatening to remove my parathyroid. I was barely eating any food in an effort to reduce my phosphate intake. New nephrologist put me onto Fosrenol six months ago. Within 7 weeks, my phosphate was within normal limits... December it was a little LOW!! Great result, and the tabs are easy to take."
