Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) "Was on Renvela but my phosphate was through the roof and Neph kept threatening to remove my parathyroid. I was barely eating any food in an effort to reduce my phosphate intake. New nephrologist put me onto Forensol six months ago. Within 7 weeks my phospate was within normal limits... December it was a little LOW!! Great result and the tabs are easy to take."

Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) "Fosrenol takes some time to get used to. It's a white chewable and tastes like chalk but it works great at reducing phosphorus. I've tried 4 different binders and it's the only one that made a significant difference in my lab results."

Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) "My doctor switched my medication from Renvela to Velphoro...the side effects (nausea and stomach pain) from the Velphoro were bad. I stopped taking Velphoro after two meals. The next day, the doctor switched me to Fosrenol. I’m glad that she did. Fosrenol does have a bit of a taste but it is very subtle but the best part no side effects."

"Tried two other brands but caused stomach ache. Finally tried Fosrenol chewables. No stomach pain. Work well to keep phosphorus levels down. Only complaint is they taste like a big piece of chalk! They should add vanilla flavoring like they do with Dairy Relief. So I have to take it with a couple of Jellie Bellies or 3 almonds."

"The name brand FOSRENOL took a short time to adjust to the chalky consistency to swallow. Then, my insurance company would only cover the generic, LANTHANUM CARBONATE. This turns into more of a pasty consistency, which sticks to the teeth and is close to impossible to swallow. They need to work on the consistency to follow the name brand more closely."

Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) "Tried it at 1000 mg three times a day but had side effects. Cut back to breakfast only and no troubles. Has helped lower my phosphorus scores and have grown to like the flavour."

Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) "They say no taste, but made me gag every time I took it. Don't know the benefits cause I couldn't stay on it long enough."
