Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "This is my second time trying this pill. The first was about ten years ago. Therefore, I brushed the side effects to the side and thought it was just me. This time, I took two pills, and all I can say is that I will never try them again! Maybe it’s just me, but I vomited, had diarrhea, and my stomach hurt for hours. I prayed to the porcelain queen like no other. All I wanted was a mini bar of ice cream, but after feeling so bad, I’d rather deal with the side effects from having the ice cream."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "This made me so much sicker than the discomfort I experience from eating dairy. Twice now I've ended up with overwhelming nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I only figured it out because both of these happened after using Lactaid. There's no warning on the box at all, but trust me, it's horrible. It takes about 3 days to feel better."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I have taken this pill 3 separate times. Every time I have taken this, I have severe cramps and diarrhea. Horrible diarrhea! The first two times I took this, I thought it was something I ate that was bad. Now, the third time dealing with this, I know that it’s the pills. When my stomach wakes me up in the middle of the night so I can spend an hour in the bathroom, it is not fun. It usually lasts for 24 hours, but it’s embarrassing to tell my boss I can’t come in because I’m on the toilet. Never again will I take these, and I would never recommend them."

For Lactose Intolerance "I thought I was crazy, but after reading the comments, I see that I am not alone. They say that there is no side effect for this product. I tried different brands, and they all made me very sick. I was vomiting and having diarrhea for the whole night (3 different times before I realized it was the pills). It felt exactly like gastroenteritis."

For Lactose Intolerance "I so, so wish I had read these experiences. Have taken this maybe 3 times in an attempt to get less gas and bloating with a bowl of ice cream. The 3rd time, a few hours after the dose, I was asleep and woke up to gnarly stomach cramps. Soaked in sweat, pale green, gagging with nausea during diarrhea. Really horrible. Very dizzy, thought I would pass out. Never again. These pills always gave me weird stomach feelings, but I attributed it to the little bit of dairy. Nope, I’d much rather have some gas pains, lol."

For Lactose Intolerance "I’ve used Lactaid before and can’t remember having symptoms from it. I recently went on vacation and decided to buy some in case I ended up having any dairy. Looking back at just a couple of days ago, I understand why my stomach hurt and why I was nauseous. Today I had just a little bit of cheese and decided to take a Lactaid. I all of a sudden felt nauseous and had stomach cramps. I went on a walk and my cramps wouldn’t go away. I was getting chills and almost some cold sweats. Then, the diarrhea... It didn’t add up that my stomach would hurt that bad from half a slice of cheese. It sounds like so many people have experienced similar symptoms. I won’t be taking this again... I have tried the Equate brand and I don’t remember ever having issues, so I’m curious if there’s a difference in ingredients causing this problem. I’m too scared to try again now!"

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I took the chewable Lactaid on three occasions. The first time, I had to miss work for the remainder of the day as I was vomiting nonstop. Next time, the same. The third and last time, I ended up in the ER, I was in pain, had a fever, diarrhea, and vomiting at the same time. My wife was the one who recalled that all three times I was sick, it was when I used Lactaid Fast Act chewable tablets. NEVER AGAIN. I did not believe it, so I tried eating the cheese I had that night without Lactaid, and I did not have any symptoms except the usual bloating I get from lactose. I prefer bloating to spending a night hooked to the intravenous fluids."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I took one Lactaid Fast Act pill, one time. Never again. I was extremely nauseous for the whole rest of the day. It was awful. I almost left work early because I didn’t trust myself not to get sick at any moment. I am not going through that again!"

For Lactose Intolerance "Lactaid destroyed me. I was really looking forward to enjoying dairy, but unfortunately, the pills caused a non-stop purge (at work, no less) that lasted hours. I was so nauseous that I literally couldn’t move without being sick. I have been super ill both times that I’ve taken the pills."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I started using Lactaid Ultra a few years ago, and this stuff is awesome. But now my system is used to it, that it no longer helps. I have to up the number of pills I take, and still, it doesn't help. But I do recommend this product."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "This is the second time I used Lactaid. OMG, did I get sick! Within one hour of taking it, I was having diarrhea. Then came severe vomiting! Had no time to lift up my toilet seat! What a freakin' mess! I was so thirsty, but each time I drank water, back to hugging the toilet I went! Had chills and a low-grade fever. I have no idea why this reacted the way it did, but I will never take it again! PS. I finally discovered why I had gotten sick over my sister's house a month ago. Thought I had a 24-hour bug. But finding out today, it was the Lactaid she gave me!"

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I decided to try Lactaid for my lactose intolerance. I took one dose, 3 caplets, with cheesecake, as directed. Within 1/2 hour, I broke out in a rash/hives on my forearms, completely covering the tops and sides of them. That was 48 hours ago, and the hives haven’t subsided. It looks like I have a raised, severe, itchy sunburn!"

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I developed lactose intolerance as I got older. I have given up most dairy, but on the occasions when I want cheese with my sandwich, I take 1-2 Lactaid pills before I eat. Most of the time, Lactaid prevents the explosive diarrhea that dairy triggers. I haven't had any side effects. Without Lactaid, I wouldn't be able to eat dairy unless I was near a bathroom. My experience has been very positive."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "My oldest daughter has experienced issues when having ice cream or dairy for a while. The problem is, she is her mother’s child; we like Dairy Queen, and we can’t say no to a Blizzard. I gave her these pills about a month ago, and before we could even get in the door, she was running to the bathroom. I remember thinking that her issues were worse with the pills than usual, but my husband talked me out of that thought process. Fast forward to last night, and I decided to give her the full dose because that could have been the issue last time; I only gave half a dose because I was just starting to use it. Full dose equals FULL misery. My poor baby, once again, could barely get in the door before having to run to the bathroom. Thank goodness I had Zofran, but she’s miserable. It’s been 24 hours, and her stomach is still hurting, and she’s still in bed. This stuff is AWFUL!! From now on, I think we will just go back to Tums and Famotidine 30 minutes before ice cream."

For Lactose Intolerance "I had taken this medication on 2 separate occasions. Both times I started throwing up so much that I had blood coming up because I ran out of everything else. I had to be taken to urgent care and get IV fluids and about 10 warm blankets before I started to feel normal again. I would rather deal with the symptoms than have to take lactase ever again."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I have been noticing a gradual increase in my sensitivity to dairy. I decided I was going to try Lactaid to see the effect. The first time it seemed fine. So I started using them when I would have a large amount of dairy. This last week I used them 5 out of 7 days, and my stomach started feeling worse and worse each day. Yesterday, I had urgent bowel movements, which have continued almost 24 hours later, and I have had the worst stomach ache. I will not be taking these again."

For Lactose Intolerance "I would not recommend lactase to anybody! I had taken these pills a couple of times and felt fine, but the third time I have taken these, I am violently ill. I have never thrown up like this and had such bad abdominal cramping and diarrhea. I thought it was caused by the dairy I ate, although I had never thrown up from my intolerance before. But after reading several other reviews on here, I know it is the pills that caused this. I have no idea what is in these causing so many people to feel this way, but I would way rather take my symptoms of bloating and indigestion compared to the pain these pills brought me."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I agree with previous reviewers, this product, Lactaid, should be reported to the FDA. As I've gotten older, I seem to have trouble digesting some cheeses. Last night, we had cheese omelets. I decided to try a Lactaid chewable. Three hours later, I felt so ill overall and then vomited for an hour. I had this same effect about 4 years ago when I tried Lactaid but stupidly decided to try it again. People need to be warned about this."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "Suspected I was lactose intolerant, so I cut out dairy. Got nostalgic for ice cream and other dairy treats real quick. Gave Lactaid a try at the recommendation of friends and doctor. Several times felt like I was dying. I was up sweating all night with severe stomach pain, felt like my intestines were being wrung into a knot, and prayed for diarrhea, which eventually did come and didn't stop for an hour. This happened to me several times on separate occasions until it dawned on me it could be the Lactaid pills. I never took these horrible things again, and I’ve never had the issue reoccur. I’d rather yolo a bowl of ice cream and let the lactose intolerance run its course than suffer the immense pain these lactose pills caused me."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I enjoy the Lactaid vanilla chewables before ice cream and cheese (other than cheddar, which I can eat no problem without it and Greek yogurt). I am not saying it's perfect, but I don't get the constipation and bloating I usually experience without it. I take 1-2 tablets immediately before the first bite. No issues."

For Lactose Intolerance "I tried this pill (Walmart Equate brand) on the advice of a friend who heard about it but hadn’t used them herself. I tried them for the first time last Thursday right before I went to a hockey game. Within 2 hours, I was extremely violently ill! I’ve never vomited like this in my life. I threw up for hours, and then came the diarrhea. It was so painful and maybe one of the worst experiences of my life. I couldn’t eat for about 24 hours. Today, 3 days later, I took two pills before having milk. Here I am now, 2 hours later, vomiting again! I do not recommend this product."

For Lactose Intolerance "My experience was many years ago, but I’m relieved to see I’m not the only one who can’t take this stuff. I was experiencing lactose intolerance type symptoms, so I took Lactaid and wound up sicker than I’ve ever been in my life. I honestly thought I might have to go to the hospital. Abdominal pain, diarrhea 'til I bled, vomiting. I pinpointed it finally to the two times I took Lactaid and one other time someone gave me lactose-free milk, which has lactose enzymes in it. It took me a couple or so really horrible experiences to figure it out, but by process of elimination, it was the only “new” thing in my diet. The subject has come up again because I’m having intestinal issues and exploring lactose-free dairy. I see it all contains lactase, so I will be avoiding it altogether, which makes me sad as I’m a dairy junkie."

For Lactose Intolerance "I love plain yogurt but was having difficulty with dairy digestion (diarrhea). So, I decided to try a generic lactase chewable tablet. What a mistake. I suffered severe nausea and could do nothing but lay in bed all day. Later, my daughter stopped by on her way home from work. When I told her I felt quite 'off' and what I had taken, she said: I remember when you tried Lactaid about 10 years ago; the same thing happened. I wish I had remembered. I will keep this last awful episode in mind."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I developed a lactose intolerance around the time I turned 25. I cut out all dairy products until a few months ago, I’m now 32, until a friend gave me Lactaid. If I’m eating a cheeseburger and I take one fast-acting capsule, I’m fine. If I’m eating ice cream, potato soup, chicken Alfredo... I have taken two. I have taken two now three separate times, and both times ended up with severe, painful vomiting/diarrhea. Much worse than if I had just eaten the food without the Lactaid. I think it’s a great product if it works for you, but I would rather not eat dairy than projectile vomit."
