For Osteoarthritis "Recently was told I needed both knees replaced, but should try 4 Orthovisc injections. Had 3 so far, beginning 3 weeks ago. First shot alleviated severe day-to-day walking pain. Am waiting to see if my condition improves much beyond where it is after all 4. Had no pain or swelling with any shots."

For Osteoarthritis "Just had my second injection yesterday. After the first injection, I was somewhat sore and my knee was swollen, however, since yesterday, soreness has retreated and swelling has subsided. Feels good. It takes, as I understand it, 4-6 weeks to take full effect. So, we will see, but so far, so good."

For Osteoarthritis "I found the reviews helpful. In March, I had a shot of cortisone in my right knee. It was effective for 5 months. When my pain returned, the doctor recommended Orthovisc. I had 3 treatments, each a week apart. I had relief after a few days, but it didn't last. I had the final injection on August 30th. It really hurt, and I was light-headed afterwards and could hardly walk. The PA that gave me the last treatment had me rest until I felt OK to walk and drive. He told me to mark 3 weeks on the calendar, at which time I would feel no pain. (Did that mean I would be dead?!) After 8 days, I am almost pain-free! Now to see how long it lasts."

For Osteoarthritis "My knee pain was an 8 for the last several months. The first injection was a 10 on the pain scale. After several days, I did notice more flexibility and less pain. My knee improved each day. The second injection was easy and painless. The relief was not as noticeable as the first. Today I received the third injection and the worst pain. I had to stay in the office with an ice pack. Walking was difficult. The pain has eased, and I am hoping for great success."

For Osteoarthritis "After years of experience dealing with back problems, I had assumed my knee pain was from the pain radiating down my leg and into my knee. I was actually surprised to hear the diagnosis of severe arthritis. My orthopedic doctor did all three Orthovisc injections in the same visit. In two weeks, the improvement was remarkable! The benefits lasted through six to seven months. Due to changes in insurance, my cost jumped from $50 to $650 (for Orthovisc only to be delivered to the doctor’s office, not including the actual procedure), and it's a struggle, but I can definitely say it's worth every penny!"

For Osteoarthritis "I completed the third shot in the series on Thursday before Thanksgiving. After the first and second shots, I experienced about a 90% reduction in pain and did not need to take any pain medication at all. After the third shot, I started experiencing more pain again and needed to start using pain medication again. I am hoping it goes back to the 90% with no pain medication."

For Osteoarthritis "I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and told I was bone on bone. I have had cortisone shots, but now they are not working, so my doctor recommended Orthovisc. I had the three shots in both knees, and it was very painful. I am now four weeks since the final injection, and my knees feel worse than they did when I started. I do need to lose weight, and I thought for sure I would be able to get out and start walking and doing exercise to help in the process. Well, I can't walk, so I can't exercise. I really don't know what to do, and my doctor says I need to go back in April for another round of shots. I am even taking HA in pill form, but nothing is working. I really thought this would help me, but I don't think it has unless I am one of those individuals that it takes longer to work on. I am 62 years old and, until now, very active. It is very depressing."

For Osteoarthritis "Awesome experience with this drug. I have advanced osteoarthritis at 38 years old, and I’m super active. My doc suggested a series of three shots. I’m on shot two and feeling great. The shot did not hurt me at all. I would encourage seeking out the best injector at your practice. They make all the difference. Also, relax when receiving the injection."

For Osteoarthritis "I had Supartz shots two years ago with great success. I just had two of three of Orthovisc, and so far, my knees feel great. I hope Orthovisc lasts as long as Supartz. I would highly recommend both products."

For Osteoarthritis "I've had two of the three injections so far. After the first one last week, my knees were so noisy. They snapped, crackled, and popped when moving. I got the second one yesterday, and these felt a lot fuller, and I felt unsteady walking. I have had pain relief, but have also had a few times when I felt a sharper pain when walking uphill. Not sure what that means or why yet. Maybe it's all part of my knee being more full of fluid and not having the healthy structures to rely on to keep it in place properly."

For Osteoarthritis "I'm 50 years old and overweight. I had a torn meniscus repair (R) in July 2011. I have osteoarthritis in both my knees. I had a cortisone injection in my (R) knee and felt okay for a week, still taking medicines, still in pain. Had the 3 shots of Orthovisc in November and never received any relief. Changed medication (meloxicam) and was given pain medicines. Pain medicines work if I take two, but it really upsets my stomach."

For Osteoarthritis "I just finished my 3rd shot of Orthovisc in my left knee last week. I'm hoping to avoid surgery. No shot in right knee, had knee replacement for osteoarthritis 5 years ago. I went skiing yesterday (downhill), and it went great. I'd lost my left turn last year because my left knee was so painful, it was excruciating, despite Voltaren gel, naproxen 500 mg, and a knee brace. But yesterday, it had no pain. Today, both my knees are a little stiff, and they are still sore going down or up stairs, but not terribly. I had no reaction to the shots, no swelling or pain. The PA who injected my shots was very skilled, and though the second one hurt going in, I couldn't even feel number 1 and 3. Even so soon after these shots, I've experienced major improvement in my left knee. It was a hassle dealing with the insurance, and I still have a big co-pay, but worth it."

For Osteoarthritis "Due to financial burden with the office visit copays, I had no alternative other than to receive the three weeks of Orthovisc all in one day for both knees. I'm in excruciating pain! Has anyone experienced the same when all administered? Not only was it just one knee, it was both!! How long does this pressure and stiffness last? Overall I can't feel any difference yet on my bone-on-bone pain. Hoping I can say later down the road that it has helped. I almost wanted to pass out, I had received numbing medication and spray as well. It was brutal!"

For Osteoarthritis "I have had Orthovisc every 16-24 months for pain in my knees (osteoarthritis). It seems to really work a couple of weeks to a month after the last of the three injections. I think the main reason is my knees are healing from the multiple injections. I use ice on my knees on post-injection days one through four after walking over 2 miles. Ice seems to help relieve the ache. I always start to feel better on Day Six, and the next day I start this all over again. It does help me. I go from barely walking 2 miles total a day to around 4. My swelling never totally goes away in my knees, although, I think about the pain less. I used to get the injections for free, but this time UnitedHealthcare PPO was $400, and you can ask to split payment over 4 months."

For Osteoarthritis "The Orthovisc injections I received made my knees feel worse and caused me more complications. I would have rated a zero if the ratings started at zero. It was a waste of money and a waste of time. I would not recommend it."

For Osteoarthritis "I just got done with my 3rd injection. I have osteoarthritis in my left knee. I'm 68 years old and have run most of my life. Orthovisc got rid of the pain. As long as I don't run, I can hike, bike, and workout at the gym."

For Osteoarthritis "I am 86, in good health and play tennis twice a week. The bone-on-bone problem started about 5 years ago, and the Orthovisc has been a blessing. I heard about its effectiveness in only 50% of people treated and am so glad it's working for me. No problem with the injections. I can feel when I need another shot - probably about 8 months."

For Osteoarthritis "Spent last summer in physical therapy to no avail. I have since learned that physical therapy just builds up the muscles around the knee to help stabilize it. After much thought, pain, and more thought, I decided to try the Orthovisc injections. I started with the first injection the third week of October 2017 and had the last, third, the first week of November 2017. It is now July 2018, and it still seems to be working. The injections stabilized the knee, and I have been almost pain-free. The only reason I did not give this injection a 10 was that they were quite uncomfortable to get!"

For Osteoarthritis "53-year-old male, powerlifting for 35 years, multiple meniscus surgeries, bad arthritis, knee replacement is needed, I was told. I had my first Orthovisc shot today, don't know about anyone else's doctor, but it was painless, couldn't feel the shot being administered. I can't wait for my other 3 rounds. Before my shot, I'd say my pain level on a daily basis is probably an 8, at times I hate to walk to my car to go out for lunch, so I know what pain is."

For Osteoarthritis "Have osteoarthritis in both shoulders. Have received 3 sets of injections over 24 months, 6 months apart, with no side effects. Excellent benefit after the shot, diminishing proportionally over the period. Decided to stop weight lifting after the last shot to see what would happen (age 67) and found the pain has not returned. It has been 8 months now, and the pain level is quite tolerable with NSAIDs. Will start a moderate exercise program next week to determine what level will be an acceptable compromise to inactivity."

For Osteoarthritis "I am a 45-year-old female with moderate right knee osteoarthritis, which feels severe because I have bone-on-bone right hip osteoarthritis. I have tried cortisone before, which worked great, but it seems osteoarthritis increased when the cortisone wore off over a very short time. I was desperate to try another therapy for my knee since I have always been active, but lately, stairs and long stints of walking are extremely hard for me. I tried Orthovisc for my knee in the last month: 3 shots, 1 every 7 days for 3 weeks. The first shot was okay - 2nd shot: I felt great after a week - the third shot was painful and took a little longer to recover. I'm assuming the 3rd shot was most painful due to soreness at the injection site. I notice the achiness during rain has gone away."

For Osteoarthritis "My doctor thought this would be a good idea for me because of my knee condition I had had for years. I figured I'd give it a go, and big surprise, it made it worse, a lot worse - it was like he stirred up a hornet's nest after those shots. Now I'm having more trouble with it than ever before, with walking pain, sleeping pain, knee resting pain, it's all worse. I'm 40 and walk like I'm 80. Physical therapy was a joke considering my condition can't be fixed without replacing the knee. All physical therapy did was get me to shift my weight to one side, and now my other knee is giving me problems. I guess the doctor won't be happy until I'm in a wheelchair."

For Osteoarthritis "I tore the lateral meniscus in my right knee when I took a spill on our stairs. Had a partial meniscectomy. The MD also found a small amount of OA on the lateral femur and had it off during that arthroscopic procedure. He recommended gel injections. I had the series of 3 beginning 7 weeks post-op. I had swelling and decreased ROM with increased pain after each injection; the second was the worst. I am 13 days post injections and still have some joint swelling, don't have full ROM back, and do not feel the injections helped; I think they regressed my recovery. If I had to do it over again, I would NOT do the injections!!! So frustrated!!!"
