For Migraine Prevention "I had one injection 21 days ago, and I’ve felt awful since. I’ve had increased migraine the first week that went away, muscle aches in my legs, increased and worsening vertigo/dizziness, I can see myself swaying, anxiety off the charts, depression, crying a lot, dizziness when sleeping, nausea, messed up my thyroid levels. This from a drug with no side effects, first, there are no meds with no side effects. Second, trials were not done long enough. Third, they aren’t listing the side effects on paperwork, doctors don’t listen when they're told about them. I’ve spoken to a few pharmacists, and they all said tons of side effects are being reported to them. Now I have to wait up to 5 months for it to leave the body. But you have to have it monthly, so why does it last 5 months? Being an antibody made my mice and rats DNA could be the problem."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been taking Ajovy for 2 years now, and the migraines are 80% less. However, some of the side effects I have (even though they are not listed and medical professionals will probably not even acknowledge them) are dizziness, unexplained weight gain, high cholesterol, and fatigue."

For Migraine Prevention "I have just had my second needle. I cannot rate Ajovy high enough. I had experienced headaches most days and migraines 2 or 3 times a week. I now feel like a whole new person. Now I have nearly no headaches and migraines at all. It did take a little adjusting, some odd side effects initially, dizziness and a strange tightness in my chest, for a couple of days, but it was so worth it. I’m very grateful for this prescription drug."

Thought it was making my migraines better, but it was probably the Emgality injection still in my system, because all of a sudden they have become worse! I have been reading the reviews on here and realized I too am having dizziness, heart palpitations, vertigo, elevated BP, always feeling exhausted. I haven’t gained any weight, but I sure don’t want to start! Just wrote my neurologist to say I’m done with this! For Migraine Prevention "I've been on Ajovy for about 6 months. It was like a miracle. I'm not burning all of my PTO on migraines anymore. Not sure if this is related, but a couple of weeks ago, I aggressively used a muscle roller over my Ajovy injection site (over my right quad) for a few days. Next thing I know, I am in so much pain for days and days. My quad starts to spasm constantly when I walk, this terrible gripping and twisting sensation every few seconds. My back hurt. I also got a very bad case of cutaneous allodynia just over my right quad and IT band, which I’d never had before. Then, 2 days ago, I got cutaneous allodynia from my neck down to my knees. I felt cold and fatigued, and everything hurt, but no other symptoms. It's mostly gone now, but it was completely debilitating. For the last 3-4 months, I also started having very brief bouts of dizziness that last between a few seconds and maybe 5 minutes. That part is manageable. It only happens once every few days."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been suffering from migraine for 30 years. Somehow, I was able to manage, but the last 3 years it got worse. I tried Topamax. Very bad experience. I was on a beta blocker. Bad experience. Nortriptyline actually worked well for me. It cut my headaches by a lot. I had maybe 1 headache a week. But some side effects I could not tolerate. Then I switched to Ajovy. My 5 injections were not bad, but my 6th I started experiencing very bad side effects like: heart palpitations, anxiety, muscle cramps, fatigue, dizziness, off-balance, and constant pressure on top of my head. I notified my doctor, but he said that he was not aware of symptoms like that, so it is only one way to find out. I decided to stop. My last injection was on October 16. Reading reviews here, I noticed that people have similar symptoms and I am not crazy. This is a new medication on the market and there is not enough data on possible side effects. I have to admit that it did help with migraines."

For Migraine Prevention "Had my first injection of Ajovy on 6/8/2021. I've had migraines since I was a teen, and then about a year ago, I started having dizzy spells with nausea that would last an average of 15 minutes. My new neurologist recommended Ajovy and diagnosed my dizzy spells as Vestibular Migraines. I take a preventative for my migraines, which has been very effective. About 40 hours later, I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible migraine. Took 100 mg Imitrex, it went away about 85%, but came back. That was the cycle for the next 4 days. I was taking the max of 200 mg Imitrex every day and didn't want to run the risk of getting rebound headaches. On June 14th, I called my neurologist, and he put me on steroids to break the cycle. Today is the 3rd day of steroids, and I FINALLY woke up migraine-free."

For Migraine Prevention "To the person who said this: 'They are hereditary, passed down from my mom and grandmother. I started taking Ajovy almost 2 years ago. It has been life-changing for my headaches; however, I’m starting to have crazy symptoms, and I am wondering if anyone else has had the same. Extreme dizziness (feels like I’m on a boat rocking), pressure on the top of my head, hair loss, a little trouble getting the words out of my mouth, a little confusion, and terrible anxiety. I’ve stopped taking Ajovy to see if that could be the culprit; ' I have these symptoms when I have migraines. When on Ajovy and Aimovig, the head pain is better, but symptoms similar to yours continued, but to a lesser degree. Could you have had these symptoms before Ajovy but not noticed because of pain being predominant?"

For Migraine Prevention "Had first Ajovy injection two weeks ago, have had migraines since age 2, now 73. After trying what seems like every preventative treatment and alternatives, no success. Was also told that there were no side effects. Two days after the injection, I became extremely dizzy, severe stomach pain, and the intensity of the migraine became worse. The neurologist told me that he’d not heard of this and that it is not related to Ajovy and to get the second dose, which I will not be taking. I’m truly happy for those that Ajovy works for, all those suffering from migraines can identify. We’ll try almost anything to get relief, but for me, the side effects are not worth it. You still have migraines, and dealing with side effects is almost unbearable at times. Know it’s hard, but keep trying, my fellow sufferers, maybe someday there will be help."

For Migraine Prevention "I started Ajovy on November 22nd. A few days later, I started feeling really dizzy. It’s been 10 days, and the dizziness has not subsided. I’m not sure there is anything my neurologist can say to convince me to continue the injections! I will say I have not had one migraine in the last 10 days. For Migraine Prevention "I started Ajovy at the end of April. After about a week, I got major vertigo and couldn't sit or walk for a week or two. I found some vertigo exercises on YouTube that fixed it for a while. Migraines did decrease, but so far I gained 10 pounds. It is the end of July now. The vertigo came back. I'm still having a hard time losing weight. I was told there would be no weight gain, so I'm not happy, and I'm not taking it again. I'm counting down the days 'til it's out of my system."

For Migraine Prevention "I suffer migraines 365 days of the year that come on every afternoon. I've tried every preventative medication available, I tried the Botox program, I've had nerve blocks and occipital nerve ablation. I was put off trying Ajovy due to the reviews I had read but decided nothing could be worse than what I was already dealing with. Well, I was wrong. Ajovy has made my migraines worse, where I now wake up with one, take a Maxalt, but then it returns in the afternoon, so I need a second Maxalt. It's also made me dizzy and given a constant tight feeling around the head. I can't wait to get this out of my system. The only thing that does work for me is Maxalt, but taking it daily, I'd hate to think about what it is doing to my liver."

For Migraine Prevention "I have taken Ajovy for 3 months now. Migraines have decreased 90% (just have had 1 or 2 that responded quickly to the Maxalt max). Side effects (from worst to least) - Intense rash on the point of injection with a big red spot and a lump, also itchiness in the rest of the body. - Major bloating on my stomach, day and night. Seems every food I eat makes it worse (I'm trying fasting and natural remedies to cope with it). - Tiredness and not able to push myself to exercise as I usually do. - One episode of strong dizziness that went away in a couple of hours. - I've noticed a slight increase in my weight (I've been only on Ajovy for 3 months). I will definitely stop the treatment as I would rather deal with my painful monthly migraines - as I've been doing for years - than with the side effects that may increase if I keep taking it. I'm very relieved that I found this page as it has helped me a lot, and I hope my feedback on Ajovy somehow can help you too."
