For Anxiety and Stress "Started taking Luvox after I told my doctor that Effexor, which is very effective and a lifesaver for me, was a bit of a libido killer. Said to try Luvox. I had a bad reaction even after tapering off Effexor properly. I had very bad headaches, which codeine couldn't shift, and diarrhea, also stomach cramps and bad nausea. Not for me obviously, so I am starting back on the Effexor, which keeps me sane."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've been on Luvox for 6 months now at 200 mg/day. I switched from Prozac because of libido problems, but it actually didn't make any difference. I completely lost interest in sex and gained weight really fast. My OCD is controlled, but I feel depressed, sleeping a lot during the day and nothing during the night. Haha, it's horrible... Also, I compulsively scratch my head until it bleeds (trichotillomania?) and Prozac had helped me stop it. Now on Luvox, the problem is back. I'm switching back to Prozac or giving a try to Zoloft."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have suffered from OCD since my early 20s (now 28), and it was only until last year that I found a doctor who specialized in OCD and prescribed Luvox for my mental health. Before this, I was on Prozac and Lexapro for years, which helped a tiny bit but nowhere near enough. I wish I knew about Luvox years ago, it has saved my life. It is the only antidepressant that has reduced my compulsions and obsessive thoughts from 100% down to 20%. My OCD is not completely gone, but this drug has quieted my mind so much, and I only recommend it for other OCD sufferers to try if nothing else works. It took nearly a month to work. I started at 50 mg, then to 100, and worked my way up to 200, which is what has cleared my mind and made me able to function as a normal person in my daily work and personal life. I hear higher doses work best for OCD, so if 50 or 100 isn't working, don't be afraid to try higher (up to 300 for OCD). Side effects for me are sweating and slight weight gain. However, it's worth it."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been on Luvox for 4 years now, and it has worked for me very well for OCD. I almost have no anxiety anymore. The downsides are that I have had loss of libido, constipation all the time, and insomnia. I haven’t had any problems with weight gain like other antidepressants."

For Anxiety and Stress "I was prescribed Luvox for social anxiety. I was told to take it at night before bed. After the first night of taking it, I woke up feeling pretty sedated and feeling weird. I also had nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I admitted myself to a psych ward to find something better for my OCD, as it is causing my life to be hell and only getting worse as I age. Being overwhelmed is not an option in my life, and simple things do that to me. With the addition of repetitive neck cracking and such odd habits, I find that Luvox helps with my mental obsessions. I can go hours now without repeating thoughts or spelling/counting. But it has done very little for the physical movements that I feel in agony if I don’t do it. I started on one-half .50 mg 2x a day, last week I was upped to 1 whole .50 mg 2x a day. I now feel very deep, sad bouts every now and again, but I just try to wait them out. I don’t know, hopefully after 4-6 weeks I get adjusted. I feel like I didn’t have these symptoms the first time."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "One week and a half, and so far, so good - takes me down several notches for anxiety, which is good! I've had OCD for over 35 years, and it's going to be very hard to break - it may be helping a smidge?"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I switched to Luvox because Effexor was making my cholesterol go through the roof, and now the sexual side effects are back, and I'm more tired than usual. I take 450 mg Wellbutrin with it, along with various supplements. I'm going to give it a few weeks before trying something else."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I take Anafranil for 32 years now, after a diagnosis of OCD when I was 15 years old; the doctor said I would have to take it for the rest of my life. Two years ago, I asked the psychiatrist to try to switch the medicine because of side effects I have that really disturb me (great hair loss, permanent dry mouth, lack of libido, etc.). Eventually, she prescribed fluvoxamine, so I stopped Anafranil and started it. The experience was AWFUL: immediately I started feeling kind of detached from everything, what it came out to be a profound state of depression. The doctor increased the dose, and things didn't change at all. After two and a half months taking fluvoxamine and feeling completely depressed, emotionally detached from everything, and with a permanent underlying 'dark'/strange feeling, I decided to stop it. Instead, that night I took half of my usual 75 mg Anafranil; the next morning I was just fine, the 'normal', functional me."

For Anxiety and Stress "I've been on it for 2 months for my anxiety, and it's working pretty fine, but I've decreased libido and low sexual drive, and it's concerning for a young guy to have this sort of side effects. I am gonna consult my doctor about this."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I know this medicine is supposed to be great, but the internal tremors are driving me crazy. I've been on Luvox for a week now, and the tremors make my anxiety 10 times worse! I also have a raspy voice that comes and goes."

For Anxiety and Stress "My son was prescribed this for anxiety and racing thoughts. Helped initially with improved mood, but very tired. After a week or two, noticed an increase in impulsive behavior: lying, stealing, cheating, rudeness. Sleep remained reduced, and diarrhea and headaches. We have finally reduced it off, but still quite emotional."

For Anxiety and Stress "My daughter started on Prozac in March, and a few days later, her anxiety went so high that she was admitted to the hospital, and the doctor changed her diagnosis and gave her four different meds. She came home with more anxiety and panic and more side effects from the meds. After three weeks, she started taking Luvox, and from seven weeks, her anxiety and panic went a little under control. She has been on several SSRIs, and she gets severe side effects from all of them. She has MDD, GAD, and panic disorder for the last seven years. She is so tired and exhausted from not getting good sleep, and not at ease at all! The first doctor who prescribed Prozac didn’t help her with her anxiety. Now we switched to another doctor, and he wants her to stay on Luvox until esketamine starts. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know."

For Anxiety and Stress "I’m on fluvoxamine for depression. It helped with it and with my bad thoughts, but it gave me severe sexual problems, so I'm forced to switch. It only started to be helpful after a month, and also it can give you sleep problems and anxiety (just at the start, like the first 2 weeks). But the sexual problems are still there even if my depression has been better, but still not cured. So I’m switching now."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have suffered from panic attacks for 12 years and was recently diagnosed with OCD. My doctor prescribed me Luvox (20 mg). I was very hopeful that this drug would help with all the worrying I do. On day 4 of the medicine, I had panic attacks for HOURS. I’d have one and then 10-15 minutes later have another. I ended up calling 911 because I thought I was dying (it’s been years since I had panic attacks as bad as this). I also ended up at the ER where the panic attacks would not stop. I will not take another pill of this."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Makes my OCD manageable. Has given me headaches and/or insomnia when I start taking it for the first time in a long time, but they usually go away. And it sure beats staying up because I’m too anxious to fall asleep. (Have been taking it on and off for about 4 years.) Just remember everyone’s bodies respond to different drugs differently."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Considering quitting Luvox / fluvoxamine. I’ve been on Luvox for 9 weeks on 100 mg. Increased the dose to 200 mg since 10 days ago and considering giving up on the medication as I feel it’s not helping me. I’m not sure what to do, whether I should stick to the increased dose or just give it up right now."

For Anxiety and Stress "So I loved this at first - did wonders for my depression and anxiety, but then as soon as I increased the dosage, I had insane constipation and stomach issues. Talking 3-4 days and intense bloating, hard to concentrate or be at work, etc. When I would skip a dose to fix my stomach, I’d have a bad headache for half the day. Just a lose-lose on everything but my anxiety and depression. Now, will be going off, sadly. Watch out for stomach issues!"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "After a few other medications failed to help, I tried Luvox for 13 weeks. It immediately made me nauseous, and the effect was constant-not just when I took the dose. I also had no improvement in my PTSD symptoms. Eventually, I gave up and had to try another drug."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Helps a lot with obsessive thoughts, and has caused a slight uplift in mood and some relief from general anxiety symptoms and sensory sensitivity. Fatigue is a big issue, as are GI symptoms: stomach cramps, incomplete bowel movements, gassiness, nausea. Causes very vivid dreams/nightmares and interrupts sleep. Had issues with blurred vision when increasing dosage. No brain zaps, but I definitely have developed involuntary muscle twitches, mostly in my legs. Seems to be worsening dissociative episodes. I am still at a low dose (75mg), and actively in therapy."

"I’m taking 100 mg Luvox, and it works very well. Side effects I experienced initially (first couple of nights)-I felt as though I had restless legs. It also makes me grind my teeth, especially at night. I now sleep with a splint/guard for my teeth. I am more tired during the day, but I’m so much happier and can cope with my sad situation, so I don’t mind those effects. Occasionally, I get ‘brain zaps’ close to taking my dose. I will be continuing this medication, it’s made me happy and pretty chilled about things that used to irritate me."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I took Luvox for one day. My OCD had been getting better because of ERP, and I knew my OCD theme was just OCD. However, when I took Luvox, I literally felt like my OCD came to life, and it was worse than ever. It dramatically worsened my OCD, I literally felt psychotic, and I could barely sleep that night."

For Anxiety and Stress "After being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (2012), I began experiencing anxiety and depression, accepting this life change and handling the symptoms. My doctor prescribed me Lexapro 20 mg daily, which helped with mild anxiety and overall day-to-day stress. However, I still experienced heavy anxiety while traveling and taking on new projects/assignments at work. I explained that I felt that the Lexapro was great but not working in all situations. My doctor then switched me to Luvox 200 mg daily. I've been taking Luvox for less than a week now and am already experiencing dry mouth, lack of motivation, diarrhea, nausea, lightheadedness/faint, and being more emotional and irritable. Obviously not for me. Life overall was better with Lexapro."
