For Insomnia "Was on flurazepam 30 mg for 3 years. It is a benzo, with all the risks of addiction all benzos have. When it was abruptly unavailable, I fortunately realized quickly I was in benzo withdrawal and switched to 15 mg Valium. Valium has a similar long half-life to flurazepam. I am now slowly tapering it by 0.5 mg a week via the Ashton Manual Protocol. Please Google this and learn for yourself. There are FB groups that will help you if you are experiencing withdrawal. The answer is not to return to flurazepam... it is to get off benzos. Read the Ashton Manual, it is the good standard for this unfortunate situation we are in."

For Insomnia "Was on Dalmane for only 5 weeks, but it really helped me sleep. The doctor was sure to gradually, slowly wean me off. Dalmane was good for insomnia. I do not sleep well, but glad I am not addicted. Xanax and Klonopin are VERY addictive."

For Insomnia "Just got this a few days ago. Trazodone sucks. Xanax too strong. Klonopin ehhh. But this was my lifesaver (for now). During the day, I am so tired, so I take Adderall (I've tried everything), and at night it's like a switch, and I'm wide awake, ready to go. I wasn't looking for something to make me knocked out, but just to give me that feeling of normal, like I feel mellow, like I can go to bed and I sleep, I don't wake up eating like I did the others, no groggy next day hangover, and no scary dreams. I take a Klonopin 1 mg, then the flurazepam, Klonopin to give me that sleep feeling, which goes away after an hour, then the flurazepam kicks in and keeps me asleep, not any bad effects. Finally, after years, I have found something that works. Thank God. 11-5-21"

For Insomnia "I have taken this for years, less effective with time; I have super tolerance to any sleep aids. Often have to take over-the-counter sleepers, nighttime sinus tabs, other 'drowsiness' meds to get it to work. Also have a prescription for Ativan (1 mg - very mild tranquilizer); chewing 4 of these has a better result than my 30 mg flurazepam."

Flurazepam for Insomnia "I have been on Dalmane for over 3 years, as well as Zispin, as I suffer from depression. I was out of tablets a couple of times, as I had to get to the pharmacy. I got some Dalmane from my aunt, and a few times it has not worked at all."

For Insomnia "Been on Dalmain 25 years, was steady and stable, then told I had to come off. It’s the worst drug ever to come off. I lost weight, had uncontrollable shakes, no sleep, paranoid, down to a quarter dose, and stopping taking Loazepam 1 mg. Hope I don’t crash, don’t use it."

For Insomnia "I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears), which made me trouble sleeping. I started at 60 mg of flurazepam and thought it was great: I finally slept and got my life back. But after a year, it worked less and less, and I went up to 90 mg. After 5 years, I decided to quit. I'm in full benzo withdrawal, and it's a nightmare! I would rather not sleep than go back to flurazepam."

For Insomnia "On flurazepam, the first two nights I slept better than I had in my entire life, but for some unknown reason, those were the last two days the pills were effective. I take one every couple of weeks with negligible effects. How I wish they worked like they did the first two nights!"

Flurazepam for Insomnia "Dalmane, in my experience, is a 'dirty' benzodiazepine like Librium. It lasts far too long and has a nasty next-day hangover. Its metabolites accumulate over time and made me fuzzy and forgetful. I wouldn't even recommend it for a short time. There's a reason it was discontinued by Roche, and only a couple of generics exist. If you need a benzodiazepine sleeping aid, I would opt for a short course of temazepam or lorazepam, or even diazepam/Valium."
