For Pain "Spent 1.5 months on this. I always took it with food and plenty of water and had no adverse side effects, even though many new meds tend to make me nauseous. It helped my pain somewhat, but not enough. I'm trying something new now. Again, I had no side effects, but for me, it just isn't effective enough."

For Osteoarthritis "I was taken off etodolac recently because labs indicated elevated blood urea nitrogen test (BUN) and creatinine. I had been on etodolac for about 20 years with no side effects and manageable discomfort. I was walking 5 miles a day and lifting weights for 3 hours a week. I felt great. Over the counters did nothing for me except discovering an allergy to acetaminophen. I'm taking 4 mg methylprednisolone a day and hurt all over; age 72, female and really aggravated."

For Osteoarthritis "I've been using ibuprofen for years, and lately it has not been as effective and is bothering my stomach with the use of Fosamax too. The doctor switched me to Etodolac 400mg TR twice a day, and I am happy he did. My stomach is handling it better, and the pain has gone to little or none based on the day. This was a wonderful relief, as he had tried me on Celebrex and another previously, and ibuprofen worked better then. Now, with ibuprofen being less effective, I am glad to have found this one."

For Pain "I herniated a disc in my back and was in severe pain. I waited one week to go to the doctor, thinking it would get better on its own. She prescribed etodolac 400 mg to be taken twice a day. It took almost a week before I felt any relief at all. It took away the excruciating pain, but my back still hurt when I would bend over to pick something up, getting up in the mornings, getting in and out of my car, and just standing up in general. It also makes me drowsy. Two weeks ago yesterday, I hurt my back, and I've been on etodolac one week yesterday. In the future, if I should hurt myself again, I will ask my doctor to give me something else."

Etodolac for Pain "I had left shoulder hurt when I was a child. About 20 yrs ago, my doctor gave me samples of Lodine. They worked better than any other NSAID out there. I am going back on it now as the problem is worse."

For Osteoarthritis "I have OA in both knees. I have been taking Aleve twice to three times a day with little to no relief. I work at night, so I need to have some relief in order to walk. I started etodolac 200 mg yesterday evening. The night was very bad with lots of knee pain and discomfort. I took 400 mg this morning with breakfast, and 6 hours later, the pain is finally subsiding. I hate changing drugs because the new drugs always take a long time to take effect. This is beginning to work earlier than I expected, and it is welcomed. I hope this works out well for me."

For Osteoarthritis "Had ligament and cartilage surgery on knee in early 80s. By 2000, pain made even sleeping tough. Was prescribed etodolac ER, 400 mg 2/day. Honestly, it gave me my life back. After 1 or 2 years, started using only 1 pill per day. Use 2/day only when cycling extra hard, snowshoeing, or skiing. None of these activities would be possible without this Rx! Only drawback is that my skin is a bit drier and itchier in the cooler months."

For Pain "Could hardly walk and was in severe pain in both knees. Had both knees drained of fluid buildup and have been taking two 500 mg every day for the past two years (1 in AM and 1 in PM). Have not had any side effects to date."

For Pain "Was given this drug for tennis elbow. Although it helped the pain in a small way, it didn't outweigh the hours of burning pain in my stomach, the copious amounts of gas I passed, and sleep I lost because I couldn't lie down due to the heartburn it caused. Turmeric works just as effectively without these side effects."

For Pain "I have been having incredible TMJ pain and back pain for ages, so it seems (10 years). I have been on countless pain medications for my back pain and, more recently, TMJ pain after undergoing arthroscopy surgery. The pain in my TMJ has been horrendous and then some, and I have recently been prescribed Lodine, and it's almost been so good to believe. It's a medication that can work very well and definitely worth a try to see if it works for you.. :)"

For Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis "My daughter has amplified pain syndrome and R.A. We have been on everything from indomethacin, sulindac, plaquenil, etc. Right now, she takes a regimen of etodolac 600 mg 24 hr tablet, cyclobenzaprine 5 mg tablet, hydroxychloroquine 200 mg tablet, and she is finally pain-free, but I gotta say adding the etodolac I think helped the most."

For Pain "I've got some sort of longstanding knee injury that will sporadically act up. Etodolac 400 mg twice a day (along with Prevacid 15 mg once daily) is the only thing I can take that actually treats the pain without giving me severe stomach pain."

For Pain "Side effects of etodolac included indigestion, constipation, painful urination, pain in kidneys, pain in the chest below the breastbone, and mental confusion. I had to stop usage in about a week. Horrible stuff. Stay away."

For Osteoarthritis "I have used Lodine and Lodine XL. It has worked so well that I have panicked at the fact I can no longer afford this generic. The price started going up exponentially about 5 years ago, and now I cannot afford it with pharmacy discounts. Too bad the company is so greedy. If you can afford it, I highly recommend."

For Osteoarthritis "I was taking 200 mg of this script for chronic arthritis pain. I MUST wear orthotics on my feet EVEN when I’m just at home, I cannot stand or walk unless I have orthotics on my feet at ALL times. I also suffer from arthritis in my lower lumbar spine, where it was fused with a rod and screws. I recently found out I now have two herniated discs above the metal in my back. CHRONIC PAIN is NO way to live. HOW I WISH this would work for me! Sadly, even though I experienced no side effects, this medication has not done anything for my pain at all."

For Osteoarthritis "I have a neck injury that occurred many years ago, now I have arthritis in my neck because of the injury. I can no longer receive prednisone in my neck due to reaching the max limit, and now I have DDD. I also have developed osteoarthritis in my hands from many years of abuse, pumping blood pressure cuffs. I went to an orthopedic doctor 2 weeks ago for the pain (I have not gone to the doctor for pain in bones in a year, and before that, almost 30 years for my neck). He prescribed etodolac (lodine) 400 mg once daily. Well, I have a history of a heart attack and take 3 blood pressure medications. Why would a doctor prescribe a medication (NSAID) to someone so high risk? I don’t get it. I told him I have tried Aleve (against my better judgment), and it caused stomach pain and severe headache. Ibuprofen doesn’t work at all. Well, I guess I will have to live in severe pain when it flares up because I will NOT take the lodine. What a waste of money and time."

For Pain "I was prescribed this after I got a root canal on my bottom back molar or number 30. It does help with the pain, but it makes my stomach hurt very badly and causes me to feel a little weird. I am sensitive to pharmaceuticals, but I still try, hoping I can find something that helps. I'd almost prefer the tooth pain over the stomach pain, but the tooth pain sucks. Especially since I am unaware when I start grinding my teeth, I've ground that bottom tooth twice now and am kicking myself. Anyway, this did help with the pain, it didn't take it all away."

For Osteoarthritis "I started this medication 2 weeks ago for OA. After 1 week on the med, I experienced nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea with stomach cramping. After 4 days off this med, I am still experiencing some cramping and stomach upset. I will not take this med again."

For Pain "I have taken etodolac 500 mg for years for occasional lower back pain due to a herniated disc. It has worked every time with absolutely no side effects. None. Higher doses of naproxen work but irritate my stomach. It is a cheap generic and has been fantastic for me."

For Osteoarthritis "My pain management Dr. gave me this to help with my constant pain in my back and neck from surgery. It seemed to be helping with my other meds, but I started itching on my hands and feet and having chest pain. I have taken it nearly a month, but stopped today to see if my itching and chest pain stopped. It has, so I’ll be letting her know, apparently, I’m allergic to it."

For Osteoarthritis "Prescribed Lodine following cortisone injections in knees and wrists. Within 1 week after taking Lodine 200 mg b.i.d., began having neck pain, sensitivity on head and scalp, and severe pain in shoulders and unable to raise arms. Felt acutely ill. Severe pain, muscle wasting, and extreme weight loss and ms. weakness. Swelling in left leg and pitting edema in left foot and right hand. After discontinuing the Lodine, the swelling went down. Even had a vascular scan while taking the Lodine. Lodine almost killed me."

For Osteoarthritis "I have osteoarthritis in my right knee, right fingers, and right foot. I had been taking ibuprofen, and it was kind of hit or miss. Some days were fine, other days I had pain in those areas. My doctor prescribed etodolac, and I noticed immediate relief. I can walk, climb stairs, and do what I need to do without pain. I have no side effects, and the medication doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I am very pleased with it."

For Pain "Etodolac is the only NSAID I can take for my bursitis that does not result in upset stomach or rebound headaches. I am 76, so I only need 250 mg a night, which means I have to cut the pills in half. Despite this inconvenience, I wouldn’t want to be without it."

Etodolac for Pain "Lower backache, the doctor said it was arthritis. I have not yet done x-rays, but after 2 weeks the pain has completely subsided. So have other joint aches, which I guess I had ignored."

For Pain "I recently was put on etodolac 300 for costochondritis. I suffered 5 months of pain inside my chest. I took it right after I got the prescription filled, and it had no effect. The next day, I took it again, and I felt so much better. I'm supposed to take it 2x a day, but I only take it when needed. For now, it works for me. Good luck, all."
