"Love it, cannot feel it, and the manufacturer's helpline had it delivered to my door. Luckily, it didn't burn my partner like the NuvaRing did (PEVA), since this one is silicone, it is more body-safe, in my opinion. No slipping issues whatsoever. Sits comfortably above my pubic bone. I don't necessarily like that it presses on the urethra inside, but I don't think I've had any issues with infection. This should be the first LARC everyone tries, in my opinion, it's that convenient, no tenaculum required for insertion like with IUDs. The synthetic hormones don't seem to affect me whatsoever compared to the implant and the various pills I've tried. My insurance didn't want to cover it, and I didn't want to try anything else, so I paid almost five benjamins for this."

"The Annovera ring was so squishy, I simply could not get it in. It had no form at all, was way too squishy, and I tried so many times and there’s no way it would have actually worked. It just kept flopping around and smushing. It was also huge. It’s nothing like the NuvaRing because I’m actually able to insert a NuvaRing because the NuvaRing actually has form and doesn’t just squish and flop around. Since the NuvaRing was the only birth control I’d ever tried that didn’t make me want to die, I asked my doctor to prescribe it as well just in case. So I ended up going back to my pharmacy and getting the NuvaRing again."

"I just started Annovera less than a week ago, and the side effects have been terrible. The first couple of days, I had a headache and nausea so bad I had to leave work. Today, day 4, I felt so depressed I could barely get out of bed. I've had depression in the past, but it's been very manageable lately. Today felt like a particularly low point, which usually comes after days of warning signs, not out of nowhere. It was so bad I took the ring out, but I plan to put it back within the 2-hour window. If the side effects don't go away soon, I'm going to switch because I can't handle a 2-3 month adjustment period like this. If the Annovera did me one favor, it was convincing me to switch to non-hormonal birth control soon. (This doesn't mean it's not for anyone, but my experience so far hasn't been good.)"

"I started using Annovera a few years ago after using NuvaRing for a few years. I've always responded well to hormonal birth control, so I didn't notice too much of a difference in that regard, but I find the Annovera ring to be more comfortable and stays in place better during sex. My partner is well endowed, and Annovera has never fallen out during sex like the NuvaRing has. I stopped using Annovera when we decided to try for a baby- I got pregnant the first month off of it. It's been 2 years since giving birth, and I decided to go back on Annovera. Today is day 14 of being back on the ring. Overall, it's been great- mood is good, sex drive is the same if not better, no nausea or headaches. However, I've been experiencing major fatigue. I have been so tired to the point that I had to take a nap in my car today- I passed out for an hour. Considering I take ADHD medication, the need for a midday nap was extra astonishing. I hope that this is just temporary and resolves."

"I've had the Annovera for several months. Pros: easy to use and remove independently, unlike Nexplanon and Mirena IUD. Weight loss. Unlike other long-term birth control, I did not lose libido. Cons: the most intense abdominal pains constantly. I can hardly eat, it's so bad. Then once I take it out to start my periods, it's horrible cramps and abdominal pains. It's really increased my anxiety, and I have been having short-term memory issues since starting it. Driving me crazy!!!! I refuse to put it back in. I'm just glad I could take this one out myself."

"I tried this birth control, Annovera, after my last annual. I took it out after 2 weeks. The side effects were too strong for me to try to wait out the 3-4 months for my body to adjust. I had headaches, no energy, anxiety, and severe bloating any time I ate. I have food intolerance issues that make me prone to bloating, and this birth control exacerbated it. I really wanted it to work because of the convenience, but I switched back to NuvaRing as I wasn’t having any issues with it to begin with."

"I’ve been on Annovera for almost 4 months. I have mixed feelings about this birth control. I love the fact that I don’t have to worry about birth control for a year. I know the instructions say to take it out after 21 days, but my doctor told me to just leave it in, and it’s been fine. I haven’t had a period in the 3 months that I’ve used it, and I don’t have any spotting. Sometimes I do get very mild cramping every now and then, but nothing bothersome. What I don’t like is that I did get a yeast infection the 1st week of insertion, and my sex drive is completely gone. I have absolutely no desire for sex, and I’ve never had this problem before. Sex is actually kind of painful due to extreme vaginal dryness, which I’ve never experienced before. I had to stop using the IUD due to the unpleasant side effects, so I’m still searching for the right one. I kind of want to stop using this now due to the lack of sex drive. I do also get the mood swings, but not that often."

"This was the worst birth control I’ve ever taken! I love the concept, but it doesn’t work for me. I tried it twice but could not get past the nausea. Both times, I kept it in only one day and got so sick that I couldn’t continue on. Not only was I nauseous, but I also had chills and extreme fatigue to the point where I felt lethargic. I literally couldn’t get out of bed, and I felt so sick. I really, really wanted to love this, but it looks like I’ll be going back to the NuvaRing."

"I was so excited to have a birth control option that didn’t cause weight gain. I had the worst cramps with Annovera, and I’ve been on Paragard before, which made that experience seem like a walk in the park. My cramps were so crippling, I couldn’t move. I thought I needed to be admitted to the ER. I discontinued it, and now I am completely lost in terms of finding the right contraceptive for me."

"I’ve been on Annovera for 3 months, and it’s the best BC I’ve used. I had a Mirena IUD, which gave me severe breakthrough bleeding for a year, then I switched to the pill, where I had breakthrough bleeding for a few months, but it eventually stopped. I switched to Annovera because of the negative effect the pill had on my mood and the annoyance of taking it every day. I’ve seen a huge improvement and would say I’m back to myself, and NO breakthrough bleeding either! (Tip: When changing BC, it’s been helpful to have a full period, then start the new birth control the last day of your period/day after.) The cons I’ve noticed are reduced sex drive and also slight vaginal dryness (this can be fixed with lube, though). My partner and I don’t feel the ring at all during sex, although sometimes I do choose to take it out, as removing it does help the natural lubrication to flow (sorry TMI). During the first 1-2 months, I sometimes felt cramping/discomfort, but this did go away."

"As someone who stopped using birth control pills, took out my IUD, and stopped using NuvaRing after one week, I LOVE Annovera. Seriously. I stopped using birth control pills (Junel Fe) after 3 years because it gave me severe depression and began to make me dry to the point where sex wasn't possible without reapplying lube. I was only 18, thinking that I was going through early menopause or thinking I had a problem. It wasn't me, it was the birth control! Annovera is the best decision I have made for birth control. No depression, no dryness, no irritation. It even made me more wet, which is a plus. The fact that it's long term is nice, and neither my partners nor I feel it in there. The only downside is that for some, it can be a little difficult to put in at first because it's so soft and round, but that's the only negative. Annovera is worth it. Try it out! (By the way, NuvaRing caused a lot of irritation, and the monthly maintenance seemed like too much)"

"This is day one on this birth control. I had been on Depo-Provera, but I didn’t go for my last injection. I have mild spotting, but it can be from the Depo, not this birth control. I had cramping last night into the AM, but it seems to have stopped. No nausea at all so far. I will give an update once I have been on it a bit longer."

"I switched from Skyla IUD to the Annovera ring. I’ll just say this is the best birth control I have ever tried, although there are two main negatives. As much as I love this birth control, I do not want to use it anymore. It has flatlined my sex drive. And not just that, but I almost cannot have orgasms anymore. Yes, you read correctly. It blocks the sensation inside and outside and causes dryness after many months of use. It feels numb inside and tender too. This ring should be used as a castration device for pedos and rapists. It kills sex drive and sensations almost entirely. I had read another review that mentioned this. It is affecting my marriage. I have had no other side effects from this besides total loss of libido and sensations. I am heartbroken to have to let go of this birth control ring. If you don’t mind those negatives, go for it. The hormone dosage is still very tolerable."

"DON'T. DO. IT. I have been placed on many different birth controls, and this Annovera is by far the worst. Migraines, vaginal discomfort during sex, no sex drive, painful periods, and to top it all off, I ended up with an infection that placed me in the hospital. I’m currently doubled over with some of the most painful cramps I have ever experienced. Please take it from someone who has tried everything. Explore other options."

"I've been reading the reviews here, saying they inserted Annovera, and I'm just sitting here, mouth open, bewildered on how anyone got the thing in. I tried several times, and all I got for it was a sore vagina and the pain taking its sweet time to go away. I washed it off, dried it, and it was so slippery, and the fact that it's round makes it impossible for me to get in at all. It just rolls away, and it's so soft that it just folds in half when I try to push it in. I have no clue what to do, and I'll have to contact my doctor and probably fight with my health insurance to get prescribed something I can actually use."

"I've only been on it a week. My side effects so far: 1. My weight, I started at 115, it bounced up to 117, perhaps due to breasts. My waist has not changed, and I'm not bloated or retaining water. 2. My face does look a little puffy, but for me, not a bad thing because I have very shallow cheeks and nasolabial folds that are deep. This helps make me look younger, I feel. A couple of bumps, but I know it's from not keeping my sunglasses clean. 3. Emotion-wise, I've been a little teary, but in a good way. I was previously on Effexor, and it dulled all my emotions except the need for sex."

"I have been using ANNOVERA for four days, and they have been the hardest days of my life. I don’t think I’ll even keep it in a week. A couple of hours after I first inserted it, I had stomach cramps and a headache, but since I always get headaches, I didn’t think too much of it. The next morning, I woke up feeling nauseous and threw up, my body also felt fatigued, so I called out of work. I went back to sleep and woke up again throwing up. I also experienced serious chills. On day three, I was extremely sleepy, and every time I woke up, I felt hot and sweaty like I had a fever. I continuously had chills and a constant headache that made me feel super irritated. Throughout the day, I had noticeable mood swings. Today, day four—I woke up with a fever and headache that has been persistent since I inserted it. The back pain and stomach cramps have come back as well. The migraine is so bad that my eyes literally hurt, and light makes it so much worse. I’ve also had chills all day."
