For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on many birth control pills as I am 35 years old. I had the least side effects with this one. No mood swings, no breakthrough bleeding, and no nausea. My doctor told me that this brand is no longer available. I hope this is not true. I am researching now."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 8 years, so I feel I can write a fair review. I started taking birth control in high school because my cycle was so painful and heavy. I had to miss school because of cramps. As soon as I started taking this (the generic version was called something else back then), my symptoms went away. I went from a 7-day heavy, painful period to a 3-4 day light period. I've always had acne, and I can't say this helped tremendously when I was in high school and college, now that I'm in my mid-20s, my acne is gone. I haven't noticed anything related to hormones on this pill. Yes, when my period is about to come, sometimes I'll get a little more emotional than I would during other parts of the month, but that would happen even if you weren't on the pill. The only thing I've noticed is that my libido is higher during the placebo week. I think birth control might kill libido a bit. Overall, if you have terrible period pains, I would recommend this pill. It really saves me every month."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I really love this birth control, but as someone else stated, I think it might be affecting my libido. I haven't noticed any weight gain at all since I've been using this. I have been on it for over two years and really have no true complaints. My skin is completely clear during my placebo week and relatively clear the rest of the time. But I still have some random nasty breakouts. This could just be my skin type though, and might not have anything to do with the birth control. I was on a high estrogen birth control before this, which negatively affected my mood, but I feel great on this one. I don't ever find myself feeling super moody, just my usual self. My period usually lasts 4 days, nothing bad at all. Overall, I recommend it."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on multiple different BC pills because I always end up getting breakthrough bleeding after 8 months or so. This pill I've been on the longest, 2 years, and I just started experiencing the breakthrough bleeding 4 months ago. It would start around my second week of pills, and I would begin with all the PMS symptoms first. Swollen breasts, bloating, mood swings. Then I would have spotting for a day or two. The spotting would go away, but the PMS symptoms would stay until I got my period at the scheduled time. So the bloating and swollen, tender breasts for 3 weeks out of the month got old, so my doctor switched me to Aleese. I've yet to try it. But overall, I didn't have a bad experience with Cryselle. I would highly recommend it."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for a month now due to unbalanced hormone levels. I wasn't getting my period (I got it 4 out of the 12 months in a year). My gynecologist made me double up on the pill, so it makes me extremely nauseous at times. I get horrible mood swings, and I've been breaking out, not badly though. Today was my 4th day on the sugar pill, and I finally got my period. It is very light, but I do have minor cramps."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I got switched to this pill because I was beginning to have severe cramps on my Lutera pill. I liked this pill for the first 3 months as I noticed my boobs grew, my acne completely cleared up, and my cramps were gone. However, during this time period, I noticed about a 10 lb weight gain that only occurred while I was on the pill (I lost 8.7 pounds while on my sugar pills one week). I also noticed that I was really emotional and got upset about everything, and I never cry, ever. I know everybody has different reactions to medications, but I would suggest not even trying this pill because the pros were not worth the cons."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I gave this pill a 5 because it did protect me from getting pregnant, so the pill does the job. Pros: easy to take. Protected me for 2 years. Did not gain any weight. Sex drive stayed normal. Cons: constant chin acne, bad PMS that would start a week after getting my period, so I felt like I never had a break. That food craving, sore breasts, emotional, angry feeling would pop up 2 weeks before my period even started. Basically, it was 1 week of normal and the rest was all hormonal. Overall, the pill does what you need it to do. Protects you from pregnancy. However, I can't take the emotions/acne, so I'm on the hunt for a new pill."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I have taken Cryselle for nearly eight years now. I was prescribed this birth control when I became sexually active. Its purpose was to control my abnormally heavy flow and to prevent pregnancy. For the last three years, I have been miserable. I did not believe that my worsening anxiety and depression were caused by my hormones, much less the prescription that I had taken for seven years. My blood pressure has been recorded at very high levels. My sweating is excessive and I have panic attacks regularly. My anxiety has never been so out of control, and I have withdrawn from my friends and family because of my uncontrollable mood swings. I have turned into an impulsive, irritable, and unhappy woman out of nowhere, and I need a different hormone therapy as soon as possible. If you experience worsened depression with this medication, please do not wait like me. Everyone's body is different. Go speak with your doctor."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for 7 months. The first 3 months were the worst as my body was adjusting, and I was so bipolar and nauseous. Now... it honestly worsened my acne from mild to moderate, painful cysts. No weight gain. But honestly, this pill has left me an emotional wreck. If I'm not angry, I am sad or easily irritated. Happiness is rare. And I break out even worse during my period in places I never even broke out before. Not the worst, but not the best. Definitely switching pill brands."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "Do not take Cryselle. Terrible mood swings and irregular periods. I started taking Cryselle for pregnancy prevention and to maintain regular periods at the age of 18. After less than 3 years, I developed a severe blood clot in my right leg due to the amount of estrogen in this pill."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I would not recommend this pill. I've been on this pill for 5 years, and at the beginning, it was okay to use for my acne and to use for regular periods, but over time, my acne comes back horribly. I have severe anxiety and I hyperventilate. I absolutely have no sex drive. It's been making me beat myself up. My mind goes crazy all the time, overthinking. I have extreme anxiety and depression, and I have crazy mood swings. I realize that I've been changing the way that I am and being angry over small things, or I cry for super small things. I've also been having chest pains that I read are a side effect. I would not recommend this pill, and I'm deciding to go off as soon as my pack is up. I would not recommend it long term."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on this medication for almost 6 years, and other than a few side effects, it's amazing - honestly. The side effects are mostly related to PMS, tender breasts, and some mood swings, but that could also just be me. In my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons. Pros are a short, light, and very regular period; no weight gain; reduced acne; and, above all, no pregnancies in my 6 years of using it! So yay!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "Stay far away from Low-Ogestrel-28, that is all I can say. This birth control has made me the most unhappy human being. I cry at random times, my mood swings are unreal, and I’ve gained so much weight. I’ve also started getting acne. I am switching asap."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "Okay, so this birth control helped my periods to be lighter and less cramping, but I became so emotional and depressed to the point where I couldn’t take it. I would cry every single day, and my mind would make up crazy situations. I just felt so emotional all the time. I’m in the process of switching to another birth control right now because I seriously could not handle the mood swings that it caused."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I began taking Cryselle a little over two years ago. I began taking it to fix irregular periods. At first, I didn't notice any side effects, but here lately, I have been on an emotional roller coaster. I am constantly going from happy to sad within minutes. I have also noticed that I have been feeling depressed constantly. People have asked me numerous times if something is wrong due to my mood swings. I don't recommend this pill at all! I have already switched pills."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I have been on this pill for over 4 years. In these past four years, I have been moody, emotional, and depressed. I seriously thought I had a mental disorder, and I seemed helped because of it. The only good thing about this pill was I never got pregnant. Since stopping this pill, I have been happy... and my true self again."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 10 years now, and it's been great up until about a year ago. I'm 33 years old now and have experienced depression and angry mood swings a week prior to my period. One week after my period, I experience increased libido, and two weeks after, I break out, then the cycle repeats all over again. I have never had acne, not even as a teen. I believe that my hormones are just changing due to aging, and I will speak to my doctor about slightly increasing my estrogen level through a different pill."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "This is the only birth control I've been on that has stopped my breakthrough bleeding due to it being the highest dose possible. I have gained 20 pounds while on it (but honestly, I needed to gain weight anyway) and, to my surprise, have larger breasts (which is not so bad either). I do get occasional migraines with this pill and slight mood swings, but over time it has gotten better, I just think the body has to become used to it. I highly recommend it if you are experiencing breakthrough bleeding, it truly has been a lifesaver in that aspect. When I went from 3 weeks of bleeding to the normal 1 week, well worth the occasional migraine or mood swing."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "Was on this pill for two years. Gained about 15 pounds, had cystic acne around my periods, and my mood swings were unbelievable. I would find myself getting so angry and irritated at everyone and everything for absolutely no reason. Perks were I didn't get pregnant and my periods were short and light, with no cramping. This was my 6th pill I tried, and after this, I gave up and switched to an IUD. Couldn't be happier."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on it for about 3 years, it works, as I haven't gotten pregnant. My first 3 months were horrible, with nausea and vomiting on the first 2 weeks of the pack. I take my pill at night, so waking up on the first weeks of the pack was horrible. My doctor warned me of feeling 'morning sickness,' but the nausea subsided after the 3 months. I still occasionally get some nausea, but it's only if I missed a dose and had to take 2 on the same day. My periods are about 3 days and light. I always get it by the third day of taking the placebo pills. Some months I get cramps, but they're not painful. I get PMS one week before my period, and I've noticed I get really depressed, emotional, and get chin acne. I've gotten used to it, so I'm okay with it."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I was on this pill from age 21 to age 31. After concerns of hypertension, my doctor inserted an IUD (Liletta). I gave it a go, loved the idea of not having a period or having to take a pill every day. After 5 months of insane mood swings, nipples so sore if I even looked at my breasts, there was a surge in pain, yeast infections, and a 10-pound weight gain with no decrease in blood pressure, I'm very happy to be back on the pill. On the Low-Ogestrel-28 pill, my periods are very regular and predictable. They last about 5 days, only 3 of those with significant flow. I have had no problems losing weight on it, no acne, no mood swings, or headaches. Starting back has been a shock to my body, as I've been on my period for about 12 days now, but that kind of thing is to be expected when you switch birth control methods. Just started placebo week for the first time since the IUD removal, and I honestly feel like a different person. I love this pill, never going back to an IUD."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "Low-Ogestrel-28 was the first birth control I used. In the first few months of taking it, my mood swings were off the charts. Crying one minute, happy the next. I did not gain weight, nor did I experience any acne. My cup size went from an A to a C, and it did its job keeping me from getting pregnant. I have been on Low-Ogestrel for a year now but have recently switched to Sprintec. I switched because my periods became irregular on Low-Ogestrel. Some months I would have heavy bleeding during the active pills, then extremely heavy bleeding during all of the placebos. I went to my doctor, and she prescribed me a higher hormone dosage pill to correct that. I had extremely heavy periods before going on birth control, so the low hormone dosage in Low-Ogestrel wasn’t enough. If you have heavy periods and are thinking about going on Low-Ogestrel, don’t, and get a higher hormone dosage pill so you can have normal bleeding."

Ethinyl estradiol / norgestrel for Birth Control "I've been on Cryselle for 3 months now. The first month, I was an emotional wreck, crying over nothing and just super bothered by anyone and everyone! It's gotten better now, but the week of my sugar pills, I'm still on an emotional rollercoaster. My periods shortened from 7 days to about 3-4, which is nice. My face breaks out during my period and is blotchy, but I can't completely blame it all on the pill since it happened before. This pill didn't make me gain any weight, I actually lost about 10 lbs during the first two months. Overall, this pill has been alright. At the very least, it's been effective, but I am considering switching it up."
