For Birth Control "Doc prescribed Ortho Tri Lo, but my insurance paid for this alternative. After 2 weeks of taking this pill, I've had cramps and spotting every day and feel very bloated and irritable. I have a call into my doctor asking if I should see it through and hope things improve or just stop and get this out of my system. Frustrating."

For Birth Control "After switching to TriNessa after years on Triprevefem without issue, I experienced side effects that were like every symptom of pregnancy. I started having unusual menstrual-like and lower abdominal cramps, indigestion, bloating, heartburn that did not go away. I thought I had gained 10 pounds. My breasts jumped at least a cup size. I was dizzy and exhausted with intense headaches despite getting plenty of rest. Pregnancy was a minuscule possibility because I had been using backup methods without fail. My period came a few days late, and I immediately switched back to Triprevefem. All of the symptoms went away except enlarged breasts, which I certainly can't complain about. My advice: pay out for brand name for some peace of mind and health."

For Birth Control "I switched from Vestura (generic Yaz) to this due to sudden breakthrough bleeding, which only began years after I started Vestura. I went to my doctor to nip the situation in the bud, and she told me she hates prescribing any form of Yaz/Yazmin to her patients anymore because it comes with so many warnings/side effects. Trinessa has been awesome so far - little to no PMS (aside from some bloating, but no birth control can seem to alleviate that for me), and it has worked wonders on my hormonal acne-prone skin - I've not had a breakout of any kind since I started a couple of months ago. Best of all, no weird breakthrough bleeding. I've also noticed that I'm far less lethargic and foggy on this birth control compared to Yaz. I'm pleased!"

For Birth Control "Been on TriNessa for 6 months because my insurance won't give me Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I used to just go to the health dept and get Ortho for free, I was on that for 15 years and didn't have a single issue. TriNessa makes me bloated, irritable, depressed, sore, swollen breasts. I cry a lot, and I've gained 20 lbs! No babies is the only plus."

For Birth Control "My insurance changed my prescription from OTC Lo to TriNessa. TriNessa is effective in the sense that it has prevented unwanted pregnancy; however, for the last four months I have been on this medication, I have been feeling bloated and nauseous every single day. For the first two months, I would take pregnancy tests because I thought I was pregnant. I have changed the time I take this medicine from early morning to taking it at night before bed; I make sure I don't take it on an empty stomach. Nothing I have done seems to alleviate this problem. This has not helped the situation in the bedroom. I have changed this medication back to OTC Lo and just paid the high copayments monthly."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Trinessa Low for over a year now. I'm 19, started at 18. It is terrible for about the first 2 months. Bloating, nauseous, breast growth, drained sex drive from 8/10 to a 1/10. However, it is very effective and forgiving. The symptoms don't go away fully but do mild down after the two months. Still have about no sex drive."

For Birth Control "My overall experience with this birth control was terrible. I had a false pregnancy and was moody and overemotional. The only two things good about this pill were it did keep my skin clear and my periods were very light. But with the weight gain/false pregnancy thing, my OB-GYN said the hormones in this pill were too high for my system. She switched me to an ultra-low dose, and the bloating was gone in no time."

For Birth Control "I am 21 years old. I started TriNessa when I was 18 for birth control. The pill was wonderful, and I stayed on it for about 8 months or so. I stopped the pill for six months, but because my periods became irregular, I started the pill again. This time I've been on it the longest, probably a year and a half or 2. I think the last 6 months or so have been hell. I experienced cramping, bloating, and nausea starting in week 2 of the pill pack. Close to week 3, I had a series of migraines. The headaches were too much for me. I stopped the pills and am now on Loestrin 24 Fe. I just started week two, so I don't know how well these work. Overall, TriNessa is an effective pill. I think my body just got tired of it. I hope my review helps!"

"I started TriNessa in mid-Sept. I am taking it primarily for acne. While I was on TriNessa, my acne didn't get better until almost 3 mos. later. I noticed some improvement in overall skin tone and complexion that I hadn't seen before, which is nice. But I gained about 6-7 lbs, and I feel bloated almost all the time. I have been working out hard for a month now, watching what I ate even MORE, and I have lost a mere 2 lbs... extremely disappointing. This pill may have made me more irritable and PMS-y at times. My periods are the same, not lighter. I really hate the fact that I eat so healthy and work out so much and see no improvements in my body. I've never had to work so hard to lose even 2 lbs, so I'm switching to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I was on this for about two years. I gained 20 lbs from it. But I needed to regulate my period. Also, my thyroid levels always changed drastically on this, while off it, not too bad. TriNessa also made my breasts hurt so bad, showers were horrible with the water hitting them. I feel bloated half the month and irritated that this is the only birth control I can afford because insurance won't cover even with my condition. Also, my eyes always were dry and itchy."

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control I've ever taken, and I just started it at the beginning of the month. I don't know if it's supposed to get better, but I've been so emotional, and I've been gaining weight, about 10 pounds in less than a month. I work out and eat healthy. I feel bloated, and I want to stop taking this. Would not recommend. My acne hasn't even cleared, it's gotten worse."

For Birth Control "I started using Ortho Tri-Cyclen about 3 years ago, which I had no problems with. However, 3 months ago I switched to Trinessa because it's much cheaper. The first few days, I definitely felt on edge and 'out of sorts,' but I assume it was just my body adjusting to the medication since I felt better after that. I have actually experienced fewer mood swings than when on OTC, however, I have noticed more bloating (no weight gain) and some new bumps on my face. I have never had a problem with acne, but I seemed to develop these tiny bumps as soon as I started Trinessa. Overall, the very minimal side effects that I have experienced are far outweighed by the benefits of a cheap and effective birth control. I guess everyone's body is different."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on Microgestin 1.5 for almost a year but hated the way it made me feel bloated and uncomfortable all the time. I take birth control to help with my horrible cramps that leave me bedridden if not controlled. My doctor switched me to TriNessa and at first it was great. No side effects... no bloating... slight change in my sex drive. But it didn't help with the cramps... as a matter of fact, I would cramp longer during my period on it than I would without it. I thought since I had just started it I would give it some time. I've been on it for 6 months now and I have been bleeding/spotting on and off throughout the day for 4 days now and I'm in the middle of the pack. I'm making him switch to something else."

"TriNessa pill is okay. I’ve had a slightly better experience than with others. In the first 30 days, it was cool, didn't kill my libido, no vaginal dryness, no acne. Now I am 10 pounds heavier, that cystic acne is cranking up again, and I am bloated! To the point where I look pregnant. I have also been dealing with some serious leg cramps, shooting pain up and down my leg. I'm going to hold off on taking this for a while."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for around six months now. I have been on birth control for 9 years due to ovarian cysts, horrid periods/cramping, and obviously to prevent pregnancy. I have had to switch from pill to pill over the years due to complications. When I was switched to TriNessa six months ago, I felt horrible pretty much from the start. TriNessa initially caused mood swings (have subsided since) and spotting for two packs straight. This pill STILL kindly provides me with constant bloating for about two weeks out of a pack, an obliterated sex drive and life with my fiancé."

For Birth Control "Had to stop 4 days in. Worst bloating ever! My clothes would fit me by the third day. It was so bad it took me 2 years before I considered any form of birth control again."

For Birth Control "I have been taking TriNessa for years! I believe I started this pill at 17-18, and I'm now 30. I do notice some of the symptoms mentioned (bloating and emotional), however, I don't expect the pill to fix that, as it's part of menstruation. The week before the placebo pills, I get emotional and super bloated, but that goes away after my cycle. I would suggest this pill, as it's the best one yet for me."
