"I was on this birth control from when I was 13 to 17 and never really had any issues. The first month, I had spotting every day, but it went away after my first period. I did experience weight gain, but that was due to diet changes and eating disorder recovery. I didn't experience any mood swings either. This was the first birth control I had experienced, and I loved it way more than the IUD that I currently have."

"I’ve honestly had no negative side effects on this pill. My acne decreased, my periods start on the same day of the week every month, and my severe cramps are almost nonexistent. I’ve actually lost weight on this pill, I don’t know if it has to do with the pill or just different eating choices. The one weird thing is I’ve developed geographic tongue, which is kind of strange but not debilitating."

"Up until last month, I'd had no negative side effects; no migraines (which are normal for me), no depression, regular anxiety, cleared my hormonal acne, regular if not strengthened sex drive, fairly regular periods. Two months ago, I had a long and heavy period. It was the first time I've ever bled through. Because of that, I was prescribed Trivora, which I hated. In the very beginning, my sex drive peaked, but that quickly ended because it made sex very painful and it lacked any pleasure. It also left me extremely depressed and crying constantly (I NEVER cry). I switched back to Tri-Previfem after only a week on Trivora. Everyone has a different experience, but mine was positive. P.S. it's only $9 at Walmart."

"I took this in conjunction with isotretinoin, so I can't confirm that the side effects I experienced were solely from the pill. I experienced depression, which I know is a side effect of the isotretinoin, but there's a chance the pill exacerbated it. I also bloated a lot, I didn't gain weight, but I couldn't lose any either. My face and breasts swelled up, which made my depression worse, I think. Everything went back to normal, bloating subsided, and I became much happier once I got off both medications. I wouldn't go back on this pill though, it scares me that I might go back to that time."

"Works wonderfully. My acne is relatively clear and I no longer have cramping the day I start my period. My period lasts about 5 days from the previous 7. It is much lighter too. I have had no issues with this medicine."

"I had been taking the name-brand of this contraceptive for probably 18 years. Then my insurance decided it would only pay for generic. I started this one in October. By Thanksgiving, I had a raging allergic rash on most of my body. ER doctor wrongly diagnosed me, and after 2 other doctor visits and a biopsy, they discovered it was an allergy to this drug. It is now mid-February, and after 3 rounds of steroids, I still have some of the rash. Torture for sure!"

"I could not recommend this birth control any less. Yes, it worked for preventing pregnancy, and it made my period regular, but this stuff made me crazy. I had horrible mood swings, it affected my sleep, I gained weight, lost my appetite, and even lost the desire to have sex. I would rather abstain from sex than take this stuff anymore. I wouldn't recommend this stuff."

"I took this for 4 months. I had just gotten off of Orsythia, and that gave me terrible depression and anxiety throughout my menstrual cycle. This pill, however, did the same, BUT only for the 1st week. I thought for a bit that it was a fair trade-off for not getting pregnant. So I'll shorten this and make some pros and cons. Pros: Extremely regular period (I was before I took BC, however), only 4 days long (used to be 7-9), libido stayed the same, NO ACNE (a little breakout nearing period). Cons: Very bad memory problems (I'd forget what I was saying mid-sentence, and I usually keep track of things extremely well), I still had cramps, anxiety, self-image issues, worse vision, gained a bit of weight, very manic (very very happy or very very sad)."

"I love Tri-Previfem! The only side effect I experienced was a little weight gain during the first few months. My period was much lighter, with fewer cramps, and my sex drive remained completely normal. I have been taking Tri-Previfem for almost 5 years, and I have been currently considering changing to the implant; being in college has created a very hectic schedule, and I tend to skip pills constantly and fail to take them on time."

"All I can say is this is an awful birth control. When I was on it, I lost a lot of hair, and my anxiety almost tripled. I was constantly dizzy and lightheaded. I was also hungry pretty much 24/7. The positives about this drug are my periods were light, short, and the cramps were very minimal, and my acne cleared up a lot. But other than that, it was awful."

"I have been taking Previfem for about three years now. The beginning of each new pack, I get extremely sick to the point of puking all night and can't keep anything down. On the bright side, I've had a lot of unprotected sex, and I haven't gotten pregnant, so it does work for birth control. Time to switch. Can't handle the up-all-night sickness anymore."

"I've been on this pill for about 3 years now, and it's worked fine thus far. My weight maintained stable, no acne, I haven't had any more mood swings than I would if I wasn't on it, and obviously, I haven't gotten pregnant after having unprotected sex. My only complaint is that every once in a while, I get some spotting for a few days."

"After using Tri-Previfem for roughly 2 years, I am switching birth control brands. I originally went on it to control my horrible acne, which it helped quite a bit, but definitely not 100%. I also noticed a dramatic increase in mood swings, lows being very low. My period lasts a normal amount of time, cramps are minimal. It definitely lowered my sex drive. I didn’t gain or lose any weight on it. I also noticed that if I accidentally skip a day of BC, my acne almost immediately flares up again. As for contraception, it’s very effective. I’m ultimately switching BC due to the absurd mood swings."

"This is the first birth control pill I have ever been on. I’m on my 3rd month and my acne is so awful it’s worse than it ever has been. My first period was perfectly fine, but the second was absolutely awful, worse than when I wasn’t even on birth control (I have been taking the pill at the same time every day). Do not get this pill, it’s awful."

"I was on this Tri-Previfem birth control pill for almost 4 years. I cried pretty much every day due to hormones, which made me very emotional. Around the 3rd year of taking it, I started to get terrible anxiety, I absolutely had to get off the pill at that point. While this did clear up my acne, the emotional turmoil was just not worth it to me."

"After years on Ortho, they forced me to switch when my insurance no longer covered it. My skin broke out, I gained 10 lbs, my libido was non-existent, I sweat constantly, and between migraines... which lasted for 2.5 out of 3 weeks I was on the pill... I had depression and breakthrough bleeding. Not something I would recommend."

"One negative thing, I believe it has decreased my libido. I was never one to have huge desires every single day, but I noticed I have barely any drive at all. I've been on this for about 2 years. The biggest thing for me, it cleared up my awful hormonal acne. I used to be on Lo Lo-Estrin, and that ruined my skin. I still have some scars. It hasn't helped a ton with oil production on my face either. I still tend to be oily. As far as weight gain, this pill hadn't affected me that way."

"I’ve been on the medication Tri-Previfem for 7 years. Started when I was 17, and it was my first ever birth control. I gained 15 lbs, but it cleared up my acne and I loved it for 5 years. About a year and a half ago, it stopped working for acne, and I have horrible hormonal acne all over my chin. It looks like a rash and can be covered up with makeup, but without it, it’s bright red. I’m unsure if it is birth control related, but I recently went off BC for 2 weeks, and it cleared up. I just started a new pill brand (Blisovi 24 FE), and the reviews are horrible, so if I hate it, I’ll switch back."

"After I had my first son, I went with an IUD and had Mirena for 5 years. As skeptical as I was about it, it actually never gave me any trouble at all. After that was removed, I dated a man for a year that had a vasectomy. After we broke up, I had to go back to birth control. I tried this one first, and it was horrible. It worked great until I had my first period on it, which lasted almost 6 weeks! I couldn’t believe it! I stopped taking it because I bled for so long, and I even now am awaiting test results out of pure curiosity with the way this pill affected my body! This medication is horrible, and I would not recommend."

"I was prescribed this medication after years of issues with my period. Prior to this, I missed a lot of school and work because my period symptoms were so severe that I couldn't get out of bed. Ever since August 2016, my period has come every 28 days, my acne is very minor each cycle with only like one big zit, little to no cramps, etc. I don't know if this pill caused me to gain weight, I never paid attention to that (personally, I'd take a few extra pounds over awful periods). I've experienced no adverse reactions to this medication, and I swear by it."

"I am currently taking the last of my second pack, and I feel like my sex drive has been lost. I'm not sure if it's this particular brand or not, but ever since I started taking it, I have felt no desire for sex. I am soon going to consult with my doctor to switch. Also, it gives you your period for a week, which I do not like. Had pretty heavy bleeding my first period, guessing I'll have the same with my next cycle. It works differently on everyone, but for me, it doesn't seem to be the right choice."

"I've been on this BC for about 3 months now. This is the 3rd prescribed type of pill I've been on. Weight gain was an issue when I first started with Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, but my weight has been pretty constant now. My acne has cleared up significantly, which is nice! My sex drive is still the same, unless I'm in the water pill week. My periods have been pretty brief compared to my original 7-day cycles, then becoming 2 weeks (yes, weeks!) on the 2nd BC I was on for months. They are very predictable, and my calendar is always accurate, so I am well prepared, but I still get SEVERE cramps the first 2 days, which has always been a constant problem for me on and off ALL the BCs I've been on. I am still a virgin, only 17, and not sure why this is??"

"I started this pill for 3 months and nothing changed when it came to acne, and I like that my period starts exactly at the same time every month. However, I gained 15 pounds on this pill with no dietary or exercise changes, my sex drive has decreased, and I’ve been experiencing more depression and anxiety when it comes to panic attacks. I’m going to the obgyn to see if I can switch to the IUD."

"I have been on birth control for over 3 years. I too was on Sprintec until they changed it to Tri-Previfem - didn't notice any changes with my body between the two. The first month I started taking the pill was crazy, my emotions were uncontrollable (it was scary), and my skin was breaking out. I don't like Tri-Previfem, but it does keep me from getting pregnant. Skin still breaks out, but I don't know if that's just me or the pill doing it. I never really got period cramps/symptoms before the pill, now I do. Periods are much lighter and shorter, though. My boobs grew about half a size. No weight gain. No libido either - my boyfriend hates it, but the pill is the best way to avoid pregnancy. Wouldn't recommend unless necessary."

"the first night I took it, I brushed my teeth. Normally I don't look at my tongue, but for some reason I felt the need to. I saw bumps, and they were scary-looking bumps. Whiteness on the back of my tongue and yellow. It didn't hurt or anything, so I thought maybe I just ate something too spicy. So I waited, and the next day it was still there but not as bad, so I figured it was going away. The fourth day of taking it, it started to hurt when I swallowed, so I got kind of worried. I've been getting acne pretty bad, and I've been getting really sick to my stomach and headaches and fevers, and so my stepmom believes I'm coming down with thrush. I looked up things that can cause thrush, and it turns out birth control was on that list."
