"I've been taking Junel FE 24 for about a month. I have experienced the nausea, breast tenderness, increase of appetite, weight gain, and a slow declining of my sex drive. I am unsure when the side effects will pass. I am trying to wait to see when it will pass. It is starting to draw some concerns. I am strongly considering trying another brand."

"My entire stint with this birth control Junel Fe 24 has been awful. I’ve experienced every terrible side effect in the book - mood swings, weight gain, bloating, acne, you name it. I have felt incredibly depressed the whole time I’ve taken it, and my mood is all over the place - I actually cried for several hours when my succulent lost a leaf. My period is painful, and I apparently will not stop bleeding. Worst birth control I’ve been on so far."

"I took Junel Fe 24 for a few months after switching from Lo Loestrin Fe. My periods were very irregular- maybe once every 3 months. They were light and usually only lasted like 2 days. They helped keep my skin clear which was a plus. My sex drive came back after I switched from the Lo Loestrin. My anxiety was still pretty bad. I had increased appetite and gained another 10 pounds. I was always bloated. I think I'm going to find another birth control."

"Junel is the worst birth control I have ever taken. I first started birth control 4 years ago to protect against pregnancy and regulate my period and have gone through a few brands. I paused birth control for a couple months before starting again with Junel. As soon as I started taking this pill my sex drive disappeared, I experienced vaginal dryness, extreme and constant breast tenderness, breast enlargement, depression, and stomach cramps. I would strongly recommend not taking this pill if you can help it. Most miserable experience I've had on birth control. I will say I didn't get pregnant and my period was regulated so it did it's job. My weight didn't fluctuate and my acne did, however there are a few other factors that could have contributed to that so I cannot blame Junel for that."

"Terrible. I used to have problem with acne years ago and this birth control has made my acne just as bad if not worse than before. I was on Blisovi and Hailey before with no side effects and my skin cleared up this bc has put my body in a downward spiral with mood swings, depression, decreased sex drive and again bad acne everywhere. I maintain a good diet, good sleep and good hydration too and nothing has changed except this birth control."

"OMG DO NOT TAKE THIS Junel Fe 24 PILL!!! I started this pill it was going ok and then suddenly I had no desire for sex at all which is unlike me because I’ve always had a high sex drive. I told my dr about it he was like that’s ok that’s a side effect. This pill made sex awful and painful because it made me dry. Therefore, I took it upon myself to stop the pill, well now I will not stop bleeding it’s not just a little blood it’s heavy like very heavy bleeding. My dr told me if I started my pill back it will stop the bleeding. I refuse to start that pill back I will just let the bleeding run it’s course and hopefully it stops soon because I am finally getting back to my pre pill sex drive."

"I had to switch to this one (Junel Fe 24 = norethindrone acetate 1mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.02mg) after taking Lo Loestrin (norethindrone Acetate 1mg, Ethinyl Estradiol 0.01mg) because my insurance wasn’t covering it. I took it for four days and got the most excruciating migraines I’ve ever had. It was debilitating and I couldn’t leave my house or do anything for three days, once I stopped taking it they went away immediately. I wasn't even aware they were different strength in the Ethinyl Estradiol the Junel was twice as much."

"I absolutely hate it. Took it for 1.5 weeks and stopped because I was bleeding; and I still am. It’s been three weeks of bleeding now. I’m miserable. Mood changes (for the worst) Generally feeling more irritable than usual, probably because I haven’t stopped bleeding for three weeks. It’s not worth wrecking your body over. NEVER AGAIN."

"I’ve been on Junel for over a year now. It’s the first and only birth control I’ve ever been on, it’s not horrible but it isn’t amazing either. It made me gain weight by cause my appetite to go insane, making me binge eat every single day and never get full, just stuffing my face 24/7 while eating “like a bird” my entire life. It absolutely tanked my sex drive. TMI- before starting birth control, my bf and I were being intimate 3x a day almost every day. A year after being on junel, I don’t want to have sex at all. I barely even like being touched sexually, my sex drive is completely gone and it really sucks. I will be asking about switching from junel asap, hopefully a different pill will give me back my sex drive? besides the negative side effects, I’m not pregnant, so that’s good."

"I had to go off of Blisovi for anxiety/depression that the pill caused me to have after about 7-8 months of being on it without any previous mental health history before then. I took a break from birth control pills to let my body re-regulate without the birth control and went on fluoxetine to help control the anxiety. I went off of fluoxetine and was prescribed Junel even though it's a generic from Blisovi, and was told there is still a slight a chance I wouldn't notice any side effects with this pill. However, after being on the pill for a week and 1/2 I stopped mid-pack because I already had two days in a row this week where I felt a random spike in anxiety and struggled to feel as motivated. I noticed myself a lot more down and moody for no reason as well. Do not be afraid to prioritize your mental health over anything, because I would rather experience the most painful periods and always use condoms over ever having the same feeling that Blisovi and Junel made me feel ever again."

"I started taking this birth-control about 4 months ago and it’s horrible. I constantly feel angry all of the time and I don’t even know why. It has even made my acne much worse. I would not recommend!"

"I had been on Loestrin 24, which switched to Lomedia24FE (on for about 4 years) and after finding out that the manufacturer was backordered until April 2018, I threw in the towel and stopped calling pharmacies within a 100 mile radius of me haha. My doctor wrote my new RX for Microgestin 24 and Junel24 was what showed up at Walgreens. I take it at night before bed and for all I know I'm still takin Lomedia24. I haven't experienced any side effects which I am so grateful for."

"I was on LoEstrin 24 fe and then was given Junel. I loved it. Barely any period, absolutely no cramping & it completely helped with my mental health. It saved my life. Now my pharmacy changed it to Blisovi and I’m having horrible cramps and period mid pack. And horrible mood swings and depression."

"I have been on Junel Fe 24 birth control for almost 2 years now. Ive have had no issues with it. Before I started my periods were irregular and nothing made sense. My doctor took my off my old birth control and started me on this one and I've never had any issues with it. I have gained some weight but I've been at a steady weight for a little over a year now. I recommend it but yet again everyone's body is different."

"Only been on this about a month but I'm not pregnant so that's good! But in the beginning I did have diarrhea and abdominal pain I had very light spotting barely anything at all. I do believe this has made me gain some weight tho which I do not like but other than that I feel fine mentally!"

"I started taking Junel Fe almost a year ago. I always heard horror stories on the internet and through friends about birth control pills. For the first few months it was fine, my periods were regular just did not last as long and were not so heavy. About, 4-5 months after taking it I missed 3 periods in a row. Then I got my period again for the next 3 months, and it was super heavy and was lasting 8 days or more. At first, I brushed it off and did not even think it was the pills doing this. I’ve also gained almost 20lbs. When I started to realize it could be because of my BC, I brushed it off because I tend to be a hypochondriac/overthinker. I didn’t realize what this pill was doing to my anxiety/mental health until my best friend, family and boyfriend noticed. I’ve always been a super happy, no stress, easy going person. I was lashing out on people for no reason and had the craziest mood swings. It works for a contraceptive though!"

"I’ve been taking this pill for probably two years And for awhile everything was great but now recently for a few months I’ve been dealing with major vaginal dryness. I’ve gone to the doctor and each time negative for everything and then found reviews on this pill and boom found my cause. Besides the sand dune down below I’ve noticed I cry on the dime for no reason and I have been breaking out on my chin. As of today my pack of what’s left of my pills are in the garbage and I’m ready to begin feeling normal again."

"I was prescribed this birth control after I suddenly stopped getting my period. I had almost no side effects for the first couple of months and had a period every month, which was great. At the beginning of month 3, I broke out so bad to the point where I went to the dermatologist to get acne prescriptions to help improve my skin. Around the middle of month 4, I started getting really bad mood swings, anxiety, and depression, and would get an extremely bad migraine and chills the first day of placebo pills. The next month, my mood improved, but then I started getting headaches throughout the month and also really sore breasts, and also increased appetite. The sixth month, I still had the headaches, my appetite decreased, the breast tenderness went away, and I started getting really bad cramps and mild nausea. I got tired of the unpredictable side effects and changed my prescription, so hopefully I won’t have the same experience!"

"Junel Fe was my first birth control and at first it worked really well for me. However, I soon noticed that it made my acne terrible. My periods started to get more irregular, they almost never came on my placebo week. It also made me cry almost daily for no reason, I was just really sad all of the time. When I stopped taking it my acne decreased and I didn’t feel the urge to cry all of them time. Works differently for everyone, but it wasn’t terrible compared to other birth controls I’ve taken."

"I almost been on this pill for almost a month and I don't know if its just me but I take my pill at night. And then feel depression in the morning and now feeling anxiety I don't even know why because my life is great! The only thing I could think right now is this new pill I just started. As a kid I used to have depression and anxiety I haven’t felt those sad feelings in about 10years now. My doctor said to give it about 3 months but after seeing other people’s reviews & info on this pill . I just don’t know might stop before it’s gets bad off because the side effects is already rubbing off on me."

"Please whatever you do do not take this pill in my opinion. I have always dealt with anxiety and depression, but never like this before. Non stop thoughts racing through my mind and random moments of sadness and crying. This pill has been debilitating and I cannot function on it. I don't like it. I took it for my ovarian cysts and I’d almost rather deal with that pain than the mental suffrage this has caused me. Not only mentally painful but physically. I have blood clots in my legs and feel like I have one in my chest. As with every birth control everyone’s body acts different but take this into consideration."

"I have been on Junel Fe 24 for about 2 weeks after getting my Paragard IUD removed due to terrible, debilitating cramps (which I had never had before). It's been good so far, although my period seems to have lasted longer than normal (~8 days, and I'm still spotting...) I also feel like I've gained a few pounds (~2-3), which is strange because I've been eating better and exercising more, and I do also feel more bloated. But in terms of everything else it has been great so far, no mood swings/anxiety, no decrease in sex drive, and good skin."

"I'm reading all these terrible reviews and I feel like my experience is almost exactly opposite. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with the birth control. I do struggle with anxiety and depression, but if anything I've noticed a "levelling out" over the past month of taking Junel. I'm on the iron pills this week though, and I've noticed my appetite go through the roof. I was really confused until I went to take the pill this morning and it all made sense. My skin has improved a little, which I'm a little impressed with in only a months time. I've suffered from cystic acne for years. I did spot a little in week 1 and then again for a day in week 3, but my period is much lighter than normal, and I've heard that it regulates in a few months' time."

"I have taken several different types/brands of birth control pills in my life. My insurance stopped covering my Lo Loestrin Fe so my Dr prescribed Junel Fe. I didn’t even make it a whole month. Thankfully after 2 plus weeks of gradually getting more moody, bloated, hungry, depressed and just overall blah, it occurred to me that the only thing changed is my BC pills. I have had horrible side effects!! Now I’m cramping. The very thing that taking BC was supposed to lessen. I searched on Loestrin’s website that they offer coupons. So it may cost a little more than before but it will definitely be worth it. I contacted my DR and they immediately changed me back to the Lo Loestrin. Thank goodness!!"

"This was the first birth control I had ever been on, spotting in the beginning and I will say the positives is that I get my period for like a day and always know when it's coming. However, I've always had some depression issues but right up until I started taking this medicine I was the most mentally healthy I have ever been. As soon as I started taking birth control my moods drastically changes and I have such anxiety about everything, cry all the time and everything scares and worries me and I lost drive and focus to do almost anything, wouldn't recommend if you already have hormone issues and imbalances because this throws you for a loop and makes you go crazy and I feel bad for the people who have to deal with it and see the changes in me, because I used to be able to feel happy and now it's harder. Need a new birth control soon to level out my moods and I can start feeling like myself again."
