For Birth Control "I'm so glad I finally read reviews about this pill, and people are not lying when they say it's the worst. I recently found out that I have vertigo, but I was dealing with what I thought were vertigo symptoms for much longer than my doctor said they would last. The symptoms of this pill and vertigo are extremely similar. I am constantly lightheaded. Almost every day. Sometimes to the point where I can't even drive. It makes me nauseous. I can't focus at work. And if you think people who said it gives them mood swings were being dramatic, they're not. I have anxiety attacks on a regular basis. I've most definitely gained weight and have seen my acne get worse. DON'T TAKE THIS PILL!"

For Birth Control "My doctor switched me to this. I was on Ocella before this. So far, I've been on this stuff for just about a month. No acne or weight gain. However, I have been having the WORST mood swings I have ever had in my life. I feel like a crazy person. I am definitely calling my doctor after Christmas to switch back to Ocella."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control (BC) for about 6 months. (I used to be on Gildess, but it has been discontinued from the factory, and this one was a perfect match.) I feel like this BC has made my depression and anxiety worse. I still experience mild nausea. My face breaks out, and they seem to stay there. I’m always emotional and agitated. I get cramps, but they are minimal. My periods are light, but they are a brownish color. I’m going to stop it because I want to see if my depression gets better or maybe try a new birth control. I wish they would bring back Gildess."

For Birth Control "Don't do it. Nausea, headaches (severe), heard about the spotting, didn't think it would happen to me, but it did, cramps/abdominal pain. Save yourself. Estrogen made my stomach weak. Really bad mood swings, luckily, my boyfriend is nice. Hungry all the time, empty feeling even after eating. Tired as anything."

For Birth Control "Worst experience ever. I would not recommend this pill to anyone. Once I started taking this, I broke out very badly and started getting acne, which I have never had a problem with. Next, my stomach started hurting every time I ate anything. I would also throw up or feel extremely sick if I ever had the slightest bit of alcohol, even just one beer. I need to go back to the doctor because they shook it off like it was nothing last time I went, but I switched birth control 2 days ago, and my side effects are continuing to bother me. My breasts are also extremely tender, and I have never been so emotional in my life."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel for 10 months now and have no complaints. I had very mild nausea and mood swings for the first 2 months, but have not experienced these since. My moderate acne has completely cleared up thanks to this pill. My only complaint is that my pack is 21 days with no placebo pills. I wish I had the placebo pills for consistency. Also, I did not gain weight, but I regularly make healthy lifestyle choices and am active."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this for over 2 years now. Since taking it, I have had less frequent, lighter periods. Yes, there was an adjustment period of about 2-3 months where I was more sensitive/emotional. I don't want anyone to get discouraged by this as most birth controls take about a full year for your body to get used to. However, if it is severe and affecting your everyday functioning, then yes, by all means, try a different birth control. But adjustments and side effects are normal; you are putting hormones into your body. Anyway, this birth control has served its purpose as my boyfriend and I do not use condoms: we use a combination birth control method of oral contraceptives on my part and 'the pull-out method' on his part."

For Birth Control "I have an unlimited appetite and struggle to feel full. As long as I limit what’s on my plate (aka portion sizes) and exercise often, weight gain is not an issue. I’ve experienced minimal weight gain (less than 1 lb/month). Skin is clearer than it’s ever been. No mood swings. Overall, I’m impressed with Junel. Very effective contraceptive! Microgestin was a nightmare for me and did horrible things to my body. Happy to have switched!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Junel Fe almost 2 months ago now, and I would never recommend it to anyone. Ever since starting it, I feel so depressed. It’s become a daily thing for me to get overly irritated and lash out at everyone around me and cry about absolutely nothing. My mood swings are horrible, the times when I am in a good mood are short-lived and right back to feeling sad and unmotivated. I have never had any major acne problems my whole life, now I break out pretty often. Already in the short amount of time I’ve started this birth control, I’ve gained a lot of weight all in my stomach area and cannot lose it from working out either, not to mention that I’m 19 years old and have the sex drive of a 70-year-old. Everyone’s body reacts to things differently, but I really wish I would have come here and read most of the other reviews before starting this pill, would have really saved me from going through all this."

For Birth Control "Did not get pregnant, so it did its job, but other than that, my body does not like this pill. Maintained normal weight during use, in fact, lost weight. Broke out with painful zits occasionally. Extremely moody. Mood swings were the worst I have ever experienced on any birth control I have ever taken. Started fights out of nowhere with my boyfriend and almost ended our relationship. Took 4 months for me to realize that this was the cause, so I am switching back to Lutera."

For Birth Control "I have been on the Junel Fe 1/20 pill for almost 3 months! I switched from Taytulla and was very scared considering I loved Taytulla. Fortunately, I transitioned to this pill with ease. Prevents pregnancy, and I've seen no significant side effects. Among all these bad reviews, I can say I love this pill! No weight gain. Helps with acne. No mood swings. Give it a try! PS these pills contain the same active ingredients at the same strength, the only difference is Junel is 21 days of active tabs, 7 days of inactive tabs, whereas Taytulla is 24 days of active tabs and 4 days of inactive tabs, and Taytulla is a capsule."

For Birth Control "I was on Junel Fe for a year and recently switched to a different brand of birth control. Overall, it did what it was supposed to do: prevented pregnancy. However, it gave me constant mood swings and anxiety. I had never dealt with these things before, so I knew that I could relate it to the pill. My periods became barely existent, and I would skip periods almost every other month. It sounds like a dream, but it can get a little stressful when you rely on periods to prove that you are not pregnant. Overall, I had a decent experience, but I decided to try something else to try to get rid of the anxiety. Also: I was off of the pill for a month in between trying a different type and let me just say it was the happiest I've been in a long time!"

For Birth Control "This birth control has been an absolutely awful experience. I have never had anxiety, depression, or any crazy mood swings until I got put on this pill. I have extreme mood swings, anxiety is through the roof, and depression never lets up. I have NEVER had this problem. I cry constantly and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but finally put it together with this pill. To top it off, the first month I bled for the entire month except for 8 days. Not just a little, full-on period for the whole month. I have never written a review before, so believe me when I say that this pill is horrible. If I could have given it a 0, I would have."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this pill from LoLoestrin Fe after changing my health insurance that didn't cover LoLo. I loved LoLo as I didn't get any side effects. Even aware of the horrible ratings that I read about Junel Fe, I decided to give it a try because, hey, everybody is different. HORRIBLE PILL. From the moment I started taking it, I felt dizzy, had cramps, anxiety, mood swings, loss of energy, and worst of all, I was getting migraines almost every day. I also started to gain weight and THE HORROR... ACNE TOO! I told my OBGYN, and we are going to try another method. Pills like this should not be on the market, PERIOD, and insurance companies should not just take the cheapest stuff that makes their subscribers PAYING THEM miserable."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for about two months. I normally take Microgestin but was given this prescription randomly. First month was fine, I didn't notice any changes. Second month, I am a complete psychopath. Extremely irritable, constant mood swings, crying literally all of the time. Gained weight and developed acne. I would highly avoid taking this pill."

For Birth Control "This is garbage! I was having problems figuring out what was wrong with me, then I read everyone's reviews. Two months in on this pill, since Walgreens said they did not have my other pill available, they said this was the same. I noticed severe changes in how I feel. It was horrible. Breasts hurt so bad, headaches, gaining tons of weight, facial swelling and water retention, depression, food cravings like never before, mood swings, etc. This pill is the worst. I hate it, I will never take it again. I gained 12 pounds in the few weeks on it or more. I am very unhappy. This pill needs to be taken off the market, this is absolutely the worst. I am so angry. Please do not take this. The FDA needs to remove this from the market. It's dangerous."

For Birth Control "I was taking Microgestin, but then my pharmacy switched me to this god-awful pill, Junel Fe 1/20, when insurance could not cover the Microgestin. This pill sucks. I have been miserable. I have gained a lot of weight even though I eat healthy and exercise daily. I am crying constantly, mood swings, etc. I am barely bleeding on my period and cramping only a little, but that is the only plus side of this medication. Do not take this pill."

For Birth Control "I decided to write a review as I have been on this for 4 years. The first year was great. But slowly after that, I noticed my mood and sex drive did a COMPLETE 180. I have never been more angry and sad in my life, and my sex drive is nonexistent. I still get a period on the same day every month, which doesn't bother me too much. This pill is good at clearing acne and preventing pregnancy, but that's pretty much it."

"Never have been on birth control and started this pill a week ago. Doctor told me to start right away, so I took the first row and started on a Thursday. I was also on my last day of my period. Six days later, I started spotting, and I've been somewhat on my period since then. Also, my mood swings are like a rollercoaster. Is this normal for birth control because my body is adjusting?"

For Birth Control "I was switched to Junel Fe 1/20 after Portia was constantly making me cry. I was on Junel Fe 1/20 for about 7 months. The first five months, I did not get a period when I’ve always gotten one on all of the other birth control I was on. I wasn’t used to this and thought I was pregnant, so I constantly took pregnancy tests, but they were all negative. My nurse practitioner assured me that some women don’t get a period at all while on birth control. Upon further internet research, it seems like this is a known brand for making your periods disappear and I wish I was told this. I had to request (yet again) another birth control, as this one was making me cry and very emotional the week before the placebo/sugar pill week. I have been diagnosed with dysthymia or persistent depressive disorder, so I’m not sure if that plays a huge factor, but there have been birth controls where I’ve had less emotional symptoms. I would be full on sobbing and having a mental breakdown with Junel Fe 1/20."

For Birth Control "I have been on Junel Fe since 2017. I must say I was nauseous randomly by 2018, also, by 2018, I was always mad, angry, and crying two weeks before my period. This got worse through 2019. My breasts are constantly growing, and my weight will not go down at all, little to no cramps, maybe once in a while, and sometimes my period skips. It once skipped for four months from May 2019 to August 2019, but usually pretty consistent. But the mood swings are out of hand. I thought something was wrong with me until I read these reviews, and others have them too. It is so bad I do boo-hoo cry two weeks before my period for no reason and really feel depressed once my period comes on, then the other symptoms go away. If I stop the BC for a month, I notice I don't have these problems. Oh, and tender breasts-really tender-not always, but most of the time before the period starts. These mood swings from Junel Fe are very consistent, just like the monthly period, but it works-no scares, no slip-ups."

For Birth Control "This birth control is horrible. I was switched to it from another and have had numerous side effects. Do not take this product. It has made me uncontrollably emotional for no reason and caused weight gain. Stay away."

For Birth Control "Been on Junel for over three months now, and I've noticed a huge change in my mood. I snap at the smallest things, have no remorse towards how I act, and then bawl my eyes out the next moment. It's to the point now I have called my doctor and told them I don't want to take it anymore, but they said I have to finish this month. I'm dreading this month of what may come. I already suffer from depression, and this is just making it much worse."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I’ve been on, and I’ve been taking it for 6 months. This birth control lowered my sex drive so badly it started affecting my relationship with my husband. It also gave me TERRIBLE mood swings - I’ll be super happy, and literally one second later I’ll get extremely annoyed. I recommend NOT taking this."

For Birth Control "3 YEAR USER: I suffer from endometriosis, and my doctor prescribed me this medication after trying several other forms. For the first year, I suffered migraines, mood swings, severe nausea, and a complete change in appetite. The past two years have been the worst, with the past 9 months being ABSOLUTE HELL!! I have NO SEX DRIVE, and I am 26 years old. I am depressed, feel lazy, cannot read as I could before, I stutter, my memory is bad (I forget things in seconds). I mean, the list goes on. Reading other reviews today, I am considering going cold turkey and just dealing with my endometriosis (as painful as it is)!!! I DO not recommend this at all. I actually recommend NO BIRTH CONTROL and pray for a real cure for endometriosis."
