For Birth Control "The week before Thanksgiving, I started Aurovela. I experienced 24-hour nausea, oversleeping (one day, slept 15 hours!). I could not keep my eyes open for anything. I was vomiting 2-3 times a day, usually only stomach acid or water because I couldn't keep food down. I had cold sweats, and my entire body was achy. Worst out of all of this was my anxiety and depression. I don't remember the last time my anxiety was as bad as it was. It was terrifying. I had initially thought I may have had food poisoning. During my second week, I was examining everything that could be contributing to my being sick, the only one thing was the birth control. My doctor stopped me immediately, told me to wait until my next menstrual cycle, and then she gave me a lower dose. I was very skeptical, and for good reason. I started it 3 days ago and am already experiencing the same symptoms. I will contact her and discontinue use. The increase in anxiety and depression was surely the worst part of it all. Be aware."

For Birth Control "My NP prescribed this to me after I came to her with complaints of severe PMS. However, this pill has done anything but prevent it. I’m currently in the middle of my second pack on the pill, and I’ve noticed severe changes. My depression before starting my period was bad prior to starting the pill, but the pill has heightened it. I feel so depressed now and also get much more emotional—both angry and sad (crying). The PMS feels like it lasts the entire month. My acne does not seem to be improving, either. My periods are somewhat shorter yet are irregular (it came unexpectedly 2 weeks earlier). Not to mention—I have bad physical PMS, such as headaches, nausea, and more, which I’ve never had before. In my personal opinion, this pill has done me no justice, and I will be switching as soon as I can. I want to feel like myself again."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this birth control, previously taking Lo Lo Estrin, and now have been on this birth control for the last 2 weeks. All I have seen are negative reviews, and Mom told me to try it out because every birth control is different for everyone. This birth control I can already tell is horrible. I have tender breasts, terrible irritability, and I mean BAD & very emotional. The smallest things have been setting me off, and I’m not normally like that at all except for 1-2 days before I begin my period. I have also noticed increased appetite, and that worries me as well because I don’t want to gain weight due to a birth control. I am very upset with this situation when my old birth control was perfect for me. Do not take this birth control, it is awful, and as everyone else is saying, but it will turn your life for the worst."

For Birth Control "If I could give this a 0, I would. DO NOT take this medication. I read all the bad reviews and figured I would have a different experience because I have never had a problem with birth control in the past. I was WRONG. This stuff has literally ruined me. I already had anxiety, but it has now turned absolutely crippling. I can’t sleep, eat, or do any of the things I used to enjoy. My boobs are in intense pain at all times. I cry over literally everything. I have genuinely never been so unhappy with myself in my entire life. I hope I can go back to normal after quitting cold turkey this week."

For Birth Control "My pelvic health doctor suggested this birth control as a way to help with ovarian cysts and cycle-related pains. I was on it for 4 months. I started having a lot of sleeping problems, anxiety (especially at night), breast tenderness, severe bloating, gas pains, digestion complications. I also experienced some depression, feelings of despair, and dread. I thought it was all from my stressful job (RN), but I didn't have these issues before taking this bc. I gave it 4 months for my body to adjust to it, but this is not a good fit for me. I've been off the birth control for 5 days now and noticed a HUGE difference in my digestion, my fluid retention has improved, and I have been sleeping better at night and no longer dread what the next day will bring. Hopefully, this review will help others as well."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've ever been on (still on it currently), and I will be honest: the first three months are awful. I was feeling ill and not like myself, and while I don't recommend you keep going feeling this way, I will say that after three months on it, all my bad symptoms stopped. It was like my body flipped a switch and said, 'Okay, I'm used to this now.' Haven't had a pregnancy scare or period ever since then. This contraceptive isn't for everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been using this birth control for 6 months and recently switched from the IUD due to getting BV continuously. My anxiety has been worse than it has been in a long time. I sleep so much more now and noticed I was slowly falling into a depression. I lost interest in many things and had less patience than I did before. My boobs are so sore and hurt all the time. I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one, after reading the reviews, I thought it was just me. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone, especially if you have a history of anxiety and depression. I’m stopping the pill now that I know the causes of a lot of the side effects I have gotten."

For Birth Control "I love this pill! I was given Aurovela Fe 1/20 after almost losing my IUD, which ended up being embedded in my cervix for months. I was scared to be put on hormonal birth control because of all the side effects I’ve heard people had. However, I love this pill. I haven’t had any mood swings, my migraines have gone away completely, and my periods have gotten significantly lighter. I have nothing but good reviews for this birth control! I can’t believe all the bad reviews I see for this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aurovela Fe 1/20 for almost 2 months now. Please, please, please, if you have a history of anxiety or depression, ask your doctor to try a different birth control method. My anxiety has increased severely, and I'm beginning to feel very depressed again. I've been thinking of self-harm as well as suicide again, and I'm having trouble with oversleeping, not eating enough. I'm crying constantly, and I'm losing my motivation for everything. Please be careful if you decide to try this birth control, and contact your doctor immediately if you begin feeling these symptoms. DO NOT WAIT!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Microgestin since I was 17 because it was my form of protection from pregnancy, and now I am 25. When I first started, it was great, I saw my periods come once a month - very regular, which I loved. I didn't gain weight or start getting acne. But I did notice mood swings, it wasn't too bad. Just something I would notice before my period. I never had any issues with it after all this time, but now I am married, and I am noticing a low sex drive. Not sure if it is this birth control pill or something else? I am worried about getting off it so suddenly since I have been taking it for so long. The pill is the form of birth control I have personally taken this entire time, not sure how my body will react to others..."

For Birth Control "Aurovela was the first birth control pill I tried. It was not the right fit for me. It caused extremely irregular bleeding, where I would either spot all month or not bleed at all. I have always had above-average skin with no acne. But when I started Aurovela, my skin was inflamed with constant breakouts that looked more like a rash. I am also not an emotional person, but found myself crying at everything when I was taking Aurovela. All in all, not my best experience with the pill, but if it works for others, more power to you!"

For Birth Control "This is by far the worst thing I’ve ever been on in my entire life, period, and the OBGYN nurse says everything is “normal” and I should expect three months of this… I started eight days ago, and I was put on this pill to help with light breakthrough bleeding and cycle regulation. The last eight days have been bad! My stomach has been extremely bloated, hard, and descended with a ton of pressure and cycling painful cramps, and to me, the worst part is the endless dark red, sticky, stringy, coagulated blood clots ranging from silver dollar in size to mainly nickel and dime in size. Bleeding through everything constantly, I’ve basically been chained to the toilet for the last eight days because there is so much blood. I honestly thought I might have had a miscarriage because of what’s been coming out of me. The irony is I started taking it to control the bleeding, and now I’m bleeding 10x’s more, 10’s worse! I’m stopping immediately!"

For Birth Control "My doctor recommended this birth control as my first one because of the low hormones, and I haven’t had any physical side effects at all. I can say I’m a little more emotional than normal, but my new cramp-free 3-day periods make up for the extra crying."

For Birth Control "I was put on this after my insurance didn’t cover my Lo Loestrin Fe anymore. I’m on week three, and it’s the worst experience I have had with birth control yet. I have had horrible stomach issues, nausea, migraines, and even a really bad period. Wouldn’t advise for anyone to take this!!"

For Birth Control "This pill almost cost me my relationship with my boyfriend! Horrible mood swings as soon as I started this and was on it for about 2 months. I also started experiencing severe hair loss to the point where I’m almost balding. The moods made me feel super anxious, self-conscious, very irritable, and felt like crying over everything! I was on Junel for the longest, and it worked great. But apparently, the pharmacist said they weren’t making it anymore, so they switched me to Aurovela. I can't keep on taking this pill and am discontinuing it immediately! And had I seen all of these horrible reviews, I never would have started taking it to begin with."

For Birth Control "I know everyone has different reactions, but I was on this birth control Aurovela Fe 1/20 for two months, and it was awful. I have never really struggled with acne before, I’d always get one or two breakouts here and there, mostly when I was about to get my period. However, after starting this pill, I developed cystic acne all over my face. I tried to wait it out because I know it can take some time to regulate, however, it only was getting worse over time. I also experienced the worst depression I have ever had. My period was great at first, normally I have really heavy periods and bad cramps, and I didn’t have any cramps at all, and it was super light. After the first month, I started to experience breakthrough bleeding and had a two-week-long period, which was super painful and heavy. After that, I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and talked to my doctor. I just didn’t feel like myself at all. After being off of it for only about a week, I feel 10 times better!"

For Birth Control "If you have a history of depression and/or anxiety, this birth control pill Aurovela Fe 1/20 may make it worse. I have depression and anxiety that I have been treated for for 5 years now and been stable on medication. I have been taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 for about 3 years now, and my pharmacy ran out of everything, and this was their only option. Within 3 weeks, I am experiencing depression and anxiety similar to when I was first diagnosed with depression and wasn’t in treatment for it. It’s awful. I feel terrible. Aurovela Fe 1/20 has given me side effects of me being extremely bloated, my breasts are insanely huge and so sore, I have acne breakouts in 6 places on my face and all over my chest and collarbone area. This pill is absolutely awful, and I hate how it makes me feel. The pharmacist assured me it was all the same active ingredients, and I shouldn't notice a change. Well, when I’m 3 weeks into it and having suicidal thoughts return for the first time in 5 years, and this has been the only change, I beg to differ."

For Birth Control "I first started a different brand of birth control, but a change of insurance led me to switch pharmacies to Walgreens. They gave me Aurovela Fe 1/20, and shortly after, I was having a hard time believing life was worth living. Not an exaggeration. I couldn’t pinpoint why I felt this way other than saying I just felt “icky.” When I finally got over one anxiety, my mind was searching for another. Absolutely miserable. When I finally decided I had to try SOMETHING to feel better, I looked up the pill and found these reviews. Even just the simple validation of knowing it was the medication causing my downward spiral has made me feel light years better. My pharmacist says it may be a whole cycle until I return to my normal self, and I am beyond excited. This drug made me feel like I was going to feel awful until the day I died, then convinced me I was going to die SOON. I am upset at Walgreens for peddling this generic drug to so many women, despite the side effects."

For Birth Control "The absolute worst thing I’ve ever put into my body. I’ve always been a happy, upbeat person. On this pill, I struggled with extreme anxiety, depression, weight gain, acne, uncontrollable anger, insomnia, and mood swings since being on this pill. I was great on Junel. Never once had a suicidal ideation until a few months being on Aurovela. It took me a while to connect the dots. I thought my anxiety and depression were outside factors until I took a few months off from taking the pill and felt like my normal happy self again. Then going back onto it, I felt the anxiety, depression, and anger kick in and take over my life. I’m an actual lunatic on the pill. I highly recommend staying as far away from Aurovela as possible."

For Birth Control "I was switched to Aurovela when I moved and changed pharmacies about 4 months ago. I've dealt with anxiety and depression for my entire life, but I was always able to cope until I started Aurovela. I lost all motivation, could barely force myself out of bed most days, and it amplified my anxiety nearly to the point of having panic attacks. I've always been a stoic person, but while taking this medication, I was constantly on the verge of tears. I started to suspect a few weeks back that the medication was causing my extreme mood swings, anxiety, and depression, so I made an appointment with my doctor and just got switched to a new medication. I've only been off Aurovela for a few days, but I'm already feeling a million times better. I can't believe I toughed it out for so long. I've tried several brands of birth control pills over the last decade, but this is by far the worst. Save yourself the trouble, don't take this medication."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aurovela Fe 1/20 for about 5 months now, and never have I felt the worst in my life. I have severe insomnia, 24/7 anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, and constant UTIs. I just spoke to my doctor to prescribe me back to Junel. I'm not myself, and it's time I do something about it. Life is short, and I'll do whatever it takes to make the most of it, including stopping any medication that can alter my body. I didn't realize until I read reviews on Aurovela that I also am experiencing weight gain and enlarged breasts (similar to when I was pregnant). It's time to stop taking this medication cold turkey."

For Birth Control "I thought I didn’t have symptoms, but I got Bell’s palsy last year out of the blue. I wasn’t stressed over anything, and all of a sudden, it happened to me, which is weird because I am a very healthy person. I don’t do drugs or alcohol. I don’t eat junk food and exercise. Another thing was that I gained a ton of weight. Although I understand it could’ve been partly because of me. It’s outrageous how much weight I put on. I started at 140 lbs, and I’m 180 lbs right now. I box and weight train, no drinking, no outside food often, and don’t drink sugary stuff. I keep trying to lose weight and tried everything. I used to be able to lose weight with diet and exercise. Something else major that has been going on is migraines. I will get horrible migraines to the point I am throwing up uncontrollably and faint. I’ve never had migraines like this and so often. It did decrease my libido, and I’m someone who enjoys sex. So I’m switching to the mini pill."

For Birth Control "Personal Experience: NEVER TAKING AGAIN! This was my very first birth control I had ever taken. Once I started, my period stopped entirely. The cramps I once had ceased to exist, and obviously the flow was a lot less than before. I went to the doctor to make sure it was normal to not have a period, and she assured me that “yes! This is completely normal, we could do this until menopause if you wanted.” I said “okay!” and was happy with it. After a while, I decided that I wanted to stop taking it. Once I stopped, my period came and NEVER left! I mean, months and months went by (13+ months) where I had some sort of bleeding happening. I would have huge blood clots, HEAVY flows, so many cramps, it was a never-ending cycle of buying overnight pads (doubling up on them) and still bleeding on the bed. It was AWFUL! I went to the OBGYN and was tested (sonogram/blood/etc) and was told everything was completely normal and maybe I should just get back on the birth control. Absolutely not! Be careful!"

For Birth Control "This is my first time using Aurovela or the pill as birth control. In the beginning, I experienced nausea and breast tenderness. Over time, the breast tenderness went away, but the nausea is constant. I didn’t think the pill was the reason, but I woke up out of my sleep one night crying about something I thought I was over. My anxiety is through the roof, and I’ve never had a problem with it before. I take my pill at 8 every night, so I didn’t feel as sick as the pill would make me. Now I’m on month 2, and I've had cramping, bloating, painful headaches, etc. All the reviews I’ve read I can relate to, the only good part is not being pregnant and having clear skin, but other than that, this pill kicks me in the butt! I’ve also had spotting weeks before my period."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for a year. Positive Effects: For about 11 months, it made all my acne and pore congestion completely disappear. This was really why I remained on the medication for so long despite the bad side effects. It also made my period disappear during placebo week starting at the 3rd month. It did reduce my libido a tiny bit, but not to the point where it made me not want sex or my boyfriend. Negative Effects: At around 12 months, my skin began breaking out. Not extreme breakouts, but I no longer had flawless skin as I had for 11 months. I experienced extreme bloating for the first couple of months. Extreme like intense discomfort. This did get 'better', but I was always bloated the entire year of taking this medication. I did realize that my mood swings got worse while taking this pill."
