For Birth Control "I’ve been on Vienva for about a year, switching from the first one I’ve ever been on since I was just about 15. I originally switched because I was concerned about my mood and told my gyno this. So, in turn, she prescribes Vienva. So far, I’ve gained about 10 pounds in a year, my face is starting to scar, the pimples I get are aggressive, my hair is coming out in clumps, I’m always tired, and my mood has not changed. I’m angry because of this."

For Birth Control "I took Vienva for about 7 months until my pharmacy changed brands, and I couldn’t get Vienva anymore. At the beginning, I felt very sad and depressed all the time, nothing would make me happy and excited anymore. After about 3 or 4 months, things started to go back to normal. I noticed that I gained some weight after about 4 or 5 months of being on Vienva, but I’m not sure if it’s the birth control or if it’s just that I have been home so much (because of coronavirus) and haven’t exercised as much. I didn’t notice any other side effects like other people do."

For Birth Control "I am currently on my 4th month under Vienva. The first month was awful for me when it came to my mental health. I was crying out of nowhere, and I was really depressed. I started taking birth control just to prevent pregnancy, as my significant other and I aren't ready for kids yet. I decided to keep taking it, and after my first month, I was back to normal. It helped clear up my acne, and my bra size went up from 36C to a 36DD. I gained 10 lbs, but I honestly didn't mind the weight gain. Every woman will have different stories, it's just up to how your body takes it. Personally, I think it's a good decision, and it definitely works. Honestly, I'm glad I started taking it :)"

For Birth Control "For almost 2 years, I never had any problems regarding side effects with any birth control pill, even if my PCP or insurance switched to a different generic brand. THEN, it was changed to Vienva last November. It was okay for a month, then, come December, I put on a little bit of weight, which was okay for me since I’ve been trying to gain a little. After that, I continued to rapidly gain weight until March. I didn’t change my diet, I even signed up for kickboxing. My periods were much, much less, which was good, but I’ve been having breakouts too, which I don’t experience even if I sleep with makeup on and have less than 5 hours of sleep. I’ve been a little moody too and have been so bloated since December. It was an unpleasant 4 months, and I didn’t wait to finish my set of pills, I just started taking a new brand I requested because I just don’t want to take it anymore. I hate it!!!"

For Birth Control "I used Tarina Fe 1/20 for 2 years, and it was amazing. No period, no weight gain, no acne, no mood swings. It’s like I didn’t even notice I was taking a hormonal medication. I switched to Vivena since the pill club doesn’t carry my preferred brand. I’ve been on it for 2 weeks, and I’ve gained 10 pounds and have had the worst mood swings/irritability ever! No period, no acne, so good for that, I GUESS. BUT WOW, as someone who is very health conscious, this weight gain is super depressing. I will not continue use."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control somewhat over 6 months now. After I had my daughter, I got the IUD and it came out. My doctor prescribed these to prevent pregnancy. This is also not my first time taking birth control pills. Before I got pregnant, I used to take some that made me so moody, it was horrible, but not this one! Okay, so the good thing about this pill for me is that it regulated my periods. Sometimes I'll be a day or two off, but it's fine. It made my periods super light compared to before. It also doesn't affect my moods, I felt like when I wasn't on birth control, I was more moody! Now, the negatives for me are I've gained a good 20 pounds that just seems to stick. Also, I do break out once in a while with very big, painful pimples that last for a few days, but other than that, this pill has worked well for me."

For Birth Control "Worst experience of my life. I’ve been on birth control since I was 15, with the exception of my 2 planned pregnancies. I’m 36 now. I’ve never had issues with BC before. I’ve been on Vienva for 1 year. It never occurred to me that the nightmare I’ve been living through was BC related. I’ve gained 25 pounds this year-despite my massive efforts to lose it. I saw a doctor twice and an endocrinologist-thinking it was my thyroid. My hair fell out. I used to have beautiful, long, thick, healthy hair-now it’s thin and broken. My skin is dry, I’ve had less than zero sex drive for months, and for the first time in my life, I’ve been battling overwhelming depression and anxiety. I’ve seen doctor after doctor-and not once did someone mention it could be this birth control. After searching for reviews, I read all these women going through the same thing.... I immediately stopped taking them and am already seeing a huge turnaround in every area."

For Birth Control "Crazy mood swings, weight gain, and decreased sex drive. I often had breakthrough bleeding, too. Hurt my relationship in the beginning because I hardly ever wanted to get intimate. My libido was so low I would only want to get intimate maybe once a month. Also made me cry a lot."

For Birth Control "I just started taking this pill, and I like it. My stomach is pudgy, and that’s kinda scary because I look pregnant. I don’t think I am because I’ve been very consistent with taking the pill on time. My appetite is out of this world, I’m always hungry now. I don’t know if my period will come because I do know that you can miss a period while on this birth control. But I haven’t gotten any acne or weight gain, it’s just my stomach that’s a lil pudgy, and that’s about it. My breasts grew a little bit, but not much. I like them how they were, but they look fine now too-more perky. I just hope my period comes."

For Birth Control "This pill, Vienva, has been great for me. I started so I can regulate my period, and ever since, it's been good. About the first month or so, I did have spotting for two weeks, which they warn about. I have been more irritable ever since I started the pill, and I feel as if my bipolar is way stronger than it was before. I have gained a decent amount of weight (16 pounds), originally, I had been 102 lb and had gone up to 118 lb, which is awesome because personally, it had been very hard for me to gain any. I recommend this pill because it does its job, however, it might affect a mental disorder or such strongly, is what I have experienced and read, so do be aware."

For Birth Control "When I first started birth control, I took this. It wasn't bad, I gained some weight, but it made me so tired all the time. And also, I know for a fact it was the birth control. When I would go out drinking, the next day I would be hungover so bad I wouldn't even be able to drink water without puking. I would puke all day and wouldn't be able to move. The days I wouldn't take it and go out drinking, the next day I was fine! I kept forgetting to take the pills and finally switched to NuvaRing, hopefully, this works out better :)"

For Birth Control "I was previously on Aviane BC but was switched to Vienna from a Walgreens pharmacy. Since February to now September, I gained 10 pounds, which is strange for me because I have the same lifestyle habits. I can’t detect any mental changes. My periods seem to be shorter than normal (no complaints there). The weight gain bothers me, though, and I believe it was this birth control. I’ll be switching soon. My blood pressure is on the low side normally, but since the birth control change, it has definitely risen. Last but not least, and not that it’s that important, but the packing is stupid looking, like a chicklet gum packet."

For Birth Control "I have a history of birth control affecting my body badly. Happily, I can say Vienva hasn’t been bad for me. I skip the final week of pills, and it took a little more than 3 months for my period to even out. I’ve had one period and a little spotting in the 5 months I’ve been taking it, but nothing crazy. I was worried it would bring my depression back, as others had, but the only thing that it had changed for me was a slight increase in weight and breast size. I would recommend, but I know it affects everyone differently!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about 5 months now and like it except for the weight gain. I've gained around 5-10 lbs and no longer fit into any of my pants. I have found that once I started the pill, my appetite increased a bit. I also have a tendency to have high anxiety and depression, but haven't found that the pill made any of these worse. In fact, I think my mood has been better. Pros: -lighter periods -shorter periods -helped my cramps -periods are overall just better Cons: -weight gain/appetite increase"

For Birth Control "Horrible pill. Gained 25 pounds over a year-nothing I did made me lose the weight. My hair fell out, my skin got dry, I battled depression for the first time in my life. A few weeks after getting off this pill, my life has finally started to feel normal again."

For Birth Control "I was terrified after reading the reviews, but overall the pros outweigh the cons! The first few days of taking it, I had cramps, spotting, and mood swings, but this evened out after a week or two. I've gained a couple of pounds, but it's all water weight and definitely nothing noticeable on my body. One downside is I NEVER had any acne before I started taking this, and it's definitely caused that to increase, so if you're looking for something to clear your skin, I'd look somewhere else. However, before taking this, I experienced absolutely terrible, debilitating mood swings for weeks, and this has helped me feel stable and even happy again. I've been on for about a month, and I'll update more symptoms if any occur, but really it depends on what you're after from a birth control."

"I started this birth control at the beginning of January 2021, and after reading reviews, I was nervous about side effects, but I haven’t had many. Most insurance covers it. No weight gain, no bad breakouts, no nausea. My periods have slightly been irregular, only off by a few days here and there. Overall, I think it is an average birth control."

For Birth Control "It's my first time on birth control, and I never had irregular periods, acne, or any problems other than typical PMS I’d get a week before my period (anxiety, depression, and major food cravings). I’m 22, 5’1”, and my weight stays about 115 lbs. I started taking this pill a month and a half ago and noticed zero side effects in the first month. I started spotting earlier, but I heard it is normal. Starting my new pack this month, the main issue was my diet didn’t change, yet my stomach looks bloated all the time. No matter what I eat, I look and feel huge. I definitely feel bigger in all parts of my body. It is causing me to be depressed, and it is not the pills making me feel that way - it is the weight gain causing me to feel insecure. I can't eat the way I used to or drink alcohol anymore because no matter what I do, even if I'm eating healthy, I look bloated. Other than that, the pill does what it’s supposed to. Everyone’s different, but I think it's definitely for a person who's ready to make some lifestyle changes with a lot of self-control."

For Birth Control "Started this BC a few months before getting married. First year on the pill was great. Second year has been more challenging: I have noticed weight gain, but I have also had a change in activity level, so hard to tell what has caused the change. Mood swings have definitely been apparent (crying for no reason when my husband wants to go ice skating with me, which I love doing). Also more irritable. However, increased consistent exercise has helped the mood swings (30 min a day 5-6 times/week). Most recent possible side effect has been difficulty sleeping... I am usually a deep sleeper and hard to arouse, but recently I have been half awake and dreaming or waking throughout the night. Being half awake while dreaming can be scary and has led to night terrors and bouts of screaming out loud in the middle of the night. Not positive this is birth control related, but I noticed these sleep side effects more when on the active pill compared to placebo week. Despite the bad, I prefer Vienva to Stronyx."

For Birth Control "I was showing two symptoms of PCOS (weight gain and hair shedding), so a gyn prescribed me Vienva. I took it for six months, stopped when the six months was over because I thought I would just be regulated permanently (I was 18 and didn’t know much about the pill). I gained a lot of weight while on it and got nauseous at the start of each pack. The only benefit on it was my really clear skin, even though I already had somewhat good skin. Once I came off, I developed acne for the first time. Three months after stopping, I got bad anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and depression. It’s been one year since those symptoms started, and I’m much better, but I still get very anxious during and after my period, and I never was like this before BC. I’ve read many stories, and most women take months to years to recover. I went on it to “regulate” my period, but now I know that that’s not true. Doctors should be cautious and should explain to women that we don’t have a cycle on the pill."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy switched me to Vienva unexpectedly. Decided to give it a try, assuming it would be just as effective as all the other birth control brands I've been switched to within the past 7 years. I was completely wrong. I've been on it for 2 months, and I've gained 20 pounds, in addition to excessive moodiness day in and day out. Since switching, I've had an uncontrollable urge to literally cry myself to sleep for no reason at all! I finally decided enough is enough and made an appointment to see my physician to get me off of this brand immediately!"

For Birth Control "If I could give this pill zero stars, I would. Costco unexpectedly switched me to Vienva from Orsythia. I took it for two months before I just couldn't take it anymore. The constant fatigue, weight gain, and acne are all things I could have managed. But the effects these pills have on your mood are awful. I already struggle with depression and anxiety, and these pills just amplified that tenfold. Within four days, I was constantly crying, lost all interest in any activity, and became very hopeless, even suicidal. Nobody should have to feel this way."

For Birth Control "As others mentioned, this can raise your blood pressure. I was on it for only 3 weeks, and my BP hiked up to 145/92. Also gained 5 lb in that short amount of time, and my face broke out. (A 36-year-old woman with pimples... seriously.) The blood pressure issue was the deal breaker, though, so I quit. No way was I waiting around for a stroke!"

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Lutera before, but was given the generic version through NuRx. I lost 9 lbs on Lutera over 4 months, which was a blessing since I had been trying to lose weight for 2 1/2 years and was hoping to lose more weight. Then I was prescribed Vienva, its generic version. The good: I have fewer migraines, I am in a better mood, and facial hair growth has slowed down, which has reduced some acne caused by it. The bad: I've gained 11 lbs in 3 weeks since I've been on Vienva, I have this constant 'I'm hungry' urge, and my period lasted 8 days with the same blood flow for 7 out of those 8 days. It's a new BC, so I'm going to see how my body reacts to it after 3 months, but so far I am not too happy with this BC. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you are overweight and have been trying to lose weight, as it can really ruin whatever work you've done. If you can try it out for 3 months and see how it goes, I'd say give it a shot. Every body works differently."

For Birth Control "I needed to regulate my period because it was so irregular, and the cramps were so painful that I'd blackout before. I started getting this brand through Pill Club and haven't had much issue with it. My periods are much lighter, I always know what day and time the flow will really start flowing. I gained weight, but no clue if it's the birth control or less working out during the pandemic. My acne is also totally manageable now! I had bad hormonal acne before, and now I'll just get the occasional ones right before/during my period. Boobs didn't grow or anything. Have been a bit more gassy, but overall not too bad. If this one did not work for you, don't be discouraged because it took me about three brands before this to find one that didn't completely mess up my body in some way. Continue to be patient and update your doctor. Good luck!"
