For Birth Control "Being on Vienva was pretty miserable. I was on it for a year. I had nausea the entire time I was taking it. I would throw up in the mornings often. It made me extremely emotional. I would cry at least twice a week for no reason. It is important to take it at the same time each day. I noticed symptoms getting worse when I was either late taking a pill or missed one and had to take two the next day. However, this pill was effective in preventing pregnancy!"

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for about 7 months. It was fine in the beginning, but then it gradually got worse. At first, I only experienced some slight nausea and tenderness in my breasts, which is typical of starting birth control. However, I noticed that my period cramps were absolutely horrible. Before the pill, and now being off the pill, I've only had light cramping every once in a while. I also started getting really terrible migraines during my period to the point that I would throw up. My vagina would physically ache for no reason during my period as well, that putting a tampon in would be painful. During one period, I had a decidual cast, which freaked me out. I have never experienced a decidual cast before. I also started to get some mild mood swings and lower libido, which just wasn't fun. All in all, it was alright in the beginning, but I don't think I'd go back to it. I definitely feel better now that I'm off this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 2 years, and honestly, it's been great. It made me lose 15 pounds, and it made my period regular and decreased it from 8 days to 5. Minimal cramping and a little bit of mood swings, but not horrible. It does give me acne around my jawline and my chin, but I've had acne before this birth control, so it wasn't anything new for me."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking this birth control for almost 3 months. The first few weeks of taking the pill, my face broke out really bad with acne. That went away after about 3-4 weeks, and now I don’t have any breakouts. However, I noticed that my mood has been extremely low, I’ve been irritable and feeling depressed since I started this pill. Yesterday was my last day taking it. I am going to try a new birth control, I can’t deal with the mood swings or feeling down all the time for no reason. As far as periods, I didn’t experience cramps on this pill. My flow was the same, but no cramps. I used to experience extreme menstrual cramps off the pill. So it helped with that. Also, I notice I do feel nauseous randomly sometimes since starting this pill."

For Birth Control "I tried 8 different types of birth control before this, so I can usually tell when one is going to totally throw me off mentally. This one made me more emotional, but it wasn't too bad. Honestly, everything was going pretty okay, but I ended up having an allergic reaction to something in it. I didn't take it long enough to see any effect on my period. If you have itchy skin and severe anxiety, talk to your doctor! Anxiety can be a lesser-known symptom of an allergy."

For Birth Control "This birth control, for me personally, really helped my mental health after being on Sprintec, which gave me really bad anxiety and emotional mood swings. My mental state has never felt better than being on this pill. However, I'm having way worse physical side effects now than on my old pill. Intercourse is extremely painful, even putting in a tampon feels like it’s burning. I never had this issue before. It’s also made my acne worse than ever (I get hormonal acne easily). On the plus side, it hasn’t made me gain any weight. If you’re using this pill for reasons other than birth control, it’s great. However, if you’re using it to have unprotected sex, then it’s kind of pointless because sex has become so painful, and it lowers your libido too. However, every person is different, so what doesn’t work for me might work for you."

For Birth Control "I've been on birth control pills for more than 5 years and recently changed it to Vienva. At first, it's not really so bad, the migraine is not every day, but after the first month, it gave me lots of whiteheads and a few pimples (I barely had pimples previously) and bad, bad mood swings. I'm always irritated, makes me angry really, really fast. Sometimes I get brain fog, or sometimes I don't feel like myself. I'm just hoping after a few more months of taking it I'll feel better."

For Birth Control "I thought I was crazy, but reading all the other reviews makes me feel better knowing I am not the only one. Have developed cystic acne that is painful. Never have I had acne like this. Also feeling way more emotional, and even though I am working out more than ever, I have gained weight and my breasts are huge. My period has become really regular, and I do have less migraines than before, so that has been the positive."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on 4 different birth controls, and this is the first one that hasn’t decreased my sex drive. That is the only positive thing I’ll say about it. Since I started this medication about 8 months ago, I have experienced severe hair loss, constant fatigue (probably due to the fact that I am quite literally always on my period), and bloating. I’ve always experienced some mood swings; more or less an increased irritability towards minutiae."

For Birth Control "30-year-old here. I don't take any medications for pain. This is my first and only birth control I've tried out, starting with a low dose of 10/20 mcg. The first couple of days adjusting went smoothly. No symptoms of nausea, tender breasts, or mood swings affected me. I used it for a total of 9 months, tried skipping periods with it, and I did have some very light spotting for weeks. I gave myself a 7-day break without active pills so I could get a period. I resumed the regimen of active pills after the break, then the spotting went away and I continued skipping for 2 months without taking the sugar pills. After 3 months, I had to take another 7-day break without active pills for a bleed. So this was the regimen that worked best for me. I believe this pill was too low dose for my body, so I switched to a higher dose that's working better for this body of mine :3. So really think if you are sensitive to anything, like allergies, this may cause you mood swings or have symptoms like crazy, possibly. I just have a hard, damn tough body that needs stronger BC."

For Birth Control "The only thing good that I’ve gotten out of taking this birth control was not getting pregnant. The first two weeks of taking it, I was the most depressed I’ve ever been in my life, and I cried constantly for days and had extreme mood changes throughout the day. I took this pill for 9 months, and I bled for 7 of those months straight. Constantly had stomach pain, constantly sad. I finally went to the doctor (I was prescribed this from the Pill Club, and they said I could skip my period by skipping the placebo week and starting a new pack), and she said she couldn’t believe I wasn’t pregnant based on the way they told me to take the medication. I stopped taking birth control altogether, and now I finally have a will to live again, no more extreme depression, no more bleeding, no more outrageous mood swings. I would not recommend this medication to anyone."

For Birth Control "I’m on the fourth week of Vienva and have experienced nausea, headaches, mood swings, spotting, and bloating! Hopefully, these symptoms pass after three months like they say! I hate birth control to begin with because of all the symptoms, and I always experience all of them, but what are we supposed to do?"

For Birth Control "I switched to Vienva after being on the same birth control for years because my doctor thought it might help with my migraines. I read a lot of negative reviews on it, but I think most pills have that. I’ve been on it for around 3 months now, and it’s been an awful experience! It’s made me feel absolutely crazy and a lot more emotional than I’m used to. I don’t usually go long periods of time feeling depressed, but this definitely changed that. I’ve never felt so less in control of my emotions ever. It’s had me rethinking my entire life and crying at everything. I’ve tried waiting it out, but I’m switching back to my original pack! Birth control pills have a different effect on everyone, but this did not work for me. My therapist said I sound like a woman experiencing postpartum depression… except I have no kids!"

For Birth Control "I was very apprehensive to start birth control because of all the horror stories, but this actually turned out well! I should start by saying this was part of my regimen to treat PMDD, so I am on an antidepressant as well. The only side effects I had at the beginning were one instance of nausea, some rough headaches (I'm already prone to migraines so I knew what to expect), and a long period. I started the meds on day 1, and I think my period lasted 14 days, though after day 3, I only needed a light pad. I had some mood swings, but those could also be attributed to adjusting to antidepressants, so take that with a grain of salt! I've now been on it for 3 whole months, and my last 2 periods were much lighter. I've gone from taking 3 ibuprofen every 3 hours on my period to taking 1-2 ibuprofen once or twice during my whole period, which lasts about 3-4 days. When I should be ovulating, my breasts become tender, and my nipples stay hard for like 5 days lol. I've adjusted well and will continue on it."

For Birth Control "It was okay. I got it from Nurx, and the reason I’m on birth control is because without it I won’t get my period. Unfortunately, I’ve had lots of mood swings with this one, but that’s pretty much it. I don’t know whether to attribute my weight gain to this or if it’s because I’m a big girl now, but I don't know. It’s okay, I’ve had better. Mood swings have been kicking, though, but that could be reactionary to my ADHD (I don’t take meds for it)."

For Birth Control "Like many others, I was absolutely terrified to start this medication. I was previously on Orthotricyclen and Aviane until my insurance stopped providing them. I took a year off from birth control and lost 30+ pounds and started to develop a body I could be proud of. The thought of gaining that weight back from birth control was crippling to me. However, despite the negative reviews, I decided to give Vienva a try. The first night on it, I woke up vomiting and almost quit then and there. I have now been on Vienva for a month and I am happy to report no more vomiting and no weight gain. As someone on Lexapro who struggles with anxiety and depression, I will say there are times I feel more emotional or dissociated. But overall, my experience has been nothing like the nightmare reviews. If you're scared too, I've been there, but give it a try and remember to always do what's best for you."

For Birth Control "I've just passed the 3-month mark with Vienva. In comparison to other BC pills I have taken, this is the best so far. However, still not an overall super positive experience. Between months 1-2, my acne was the worst it ever was, and I was nauseous constantly. Also super emotional. Luckily, those have seemed to pass. My face is super clear now, which I hope stays for the long run. Negative side effects that have stayed so far are extremely painful breasts for most of the month and absolutely no sex drive. I don't think my boobs have gotten bigger, but they feel heavier, and I can feel the lumps pretty clearly. The positive is that my period cramps are a lot more manageable, and if I miss a day or take it late, I don't feel any side effects (on previous brands, I would always throw up). I'm going to keep taking it because, like I said, I've had worse, but wish this one could be better for me."

For Birth Control "This birth control has made me feel worse than I have ever felt before. The first few months were okay, I noticed a slight mood change, but after about 4 months, I noticed my anxiety and depression skyrocket, my hair is thinning, my cramps are much worse, and so much more. I truly do not recommend Vienva."

For Birth Control "Horrible experience with this birth control (BC). I highly advise you to seek a better BC pill than this one. Horrible mood swings, bloating, and overall really scary thoughts. Two weeks into this pill and I immediately knew I needed to get off. Also was on my period for 17 days straight, just an overall cheap generic pill with horrible side effects, find a better one!!!!"

For Birth Control "This is the first BC pill I’ve ever taken, and after reading these reviews, I was definitely scared to begin taking them. The first 2 months were okay for me, aside from some mood swings, but then things started going downhill. It’s been 7 months now, and my experience has been largely negative. I have been experiencing vaginal issues that I’ve never had before, and I now realize that the dryness this pill causes has led to a lot of challenges for me. Sex in my relationship has become painful and pretty non-existent, and I’ve generally been having discomfort that has been crippling at times. Overall, it’s made me miserable, and it has destroyed my self-esteem. The only positive is that my periods are very regular (they last Wednesday-Saturday once a month), and they are less painful than they were prior to me being on BC. Unfortunately, that is not enough for me to continue using. I’m scared to try another pill, so I may have to take a break from BC. I don’t recommend."
