For Birth Control "This is the first-ever experience I've had with extreme side effects from a medication. This has been the worst experience of my life. I've been taking it at 9:30 every night. I wake up in the middle of the night at 5:00 a.m. every night with extreme nausea, something that I didn't experience before taking this. When I wake up in the morning, I instantly feel dizzy and nauseous. This continues on throughout the day. Halfway through the day, the anxiety starts to take over. I start to experience shortness of breath, shaking, and lightheadedness. Once the panic attack ends, I get a headache more towards 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. This has been happening every day since I started this pill, and I'm just told to 'keep pushing through.'"

For Birth Control "I experienced nausea, sadness, and anxiety. I stuck with it, and the intensity subsided. However, depression and anxiety remained like a low-grade fever. It became my norm, but I wasn't the same me. I started experiencing severe muscle cramps, heart palpitations, tingling in hands and feet. It wasn't until I forgot two days of pills and ended up taking four that I experienced all these side effects so intensely I thought I'd lost my mind. I felt extreme rage, sadness, panic, and the muscles in my legs twitched visibly. My hands were shaking. I was terrified and considered checking myself into a hospital. I called a pharmacist, and he told me my body couldn't absorb it at once, and he had received calls like this before. That I would feel better after a day or so, as the hormone levels returned to normal. I realized the overdose was just a more extreme version of what I've been feeling on it. By the way, birth control is the only prescription I've ever been on other than antibiotics."

For Birth Control "I used to take Aviane, then was switched to Falmina. I never really had problems while on these two medications, then suddenly my Rite Aid said they are no longer carrying Falmina since they are now a Walgreens. The pharmacist told me Vienva has the same active ingredient as Falmina, so I said I would try it. It has only been 4 days, and I feel terrible. I have had anxiety for most of my life, but these past days I have had multiple anxiety attacks, have burst out crying for no reason, and have felt overall lethargic and not myself. It must be Vienva because no other aspects of my life have changed recently. I will no longer be taking this and am going to go off birth control fully."

For Birth Control "Pharmacy switched me from Orsythia to this Vienva after about 2 years. I have been taking this for about a year, and it is a nightmare. I didn’t notice at first how messed up I felt in the last two weeks of my cycle. Super anxious, angry, and crying easily. I feel like a different person. Don’t let your pharmacy switch you without a fight."

For Birth Control "I tried 8 different types of birth control before this, so I can usually tell when one is going to totally throw me off mentally. This one made me more emotional, but it wasn't too bad. Honestly, everything was going pretty okay, but I ended up having an allergic reaction to something in it. I didn't take it long enough to see any effect on my period. If you have itchy skin and severe anxiety, talk to your doctor! Anxiety can be a lesser-known symptom of an allergy."

For Birth Control "This birth control, for me personally, really helped my mental health after being on Sprintec, which gave me really bad anxiety and emotional mood swings. My mental state has never felt better than being on this pill. However, I'm having way worse physical side effects now than on my old pill. Intercourse is extremely painful, even putting in a tampon feels like it’s burning. I never had this issue before. It’s also made my acne worse than ever (I get hormonal acne easily). On the plus side, it hasn’t made me gain any weight. If you’re using this pill for reasons other than birth control, it’s great. However, if you’re using it to have unprotected sex, then it’s kind of pointless because sex has become so painful, and it lowers your libido too. However, every person is different, so what doesn’t work for me might work for you."

For Birth Control "Save yourself the trouble, friends, and don’t take this drug. It has made me so depressed, and my anxiety has never been worse. I cry a lot more often than I used to, and I'm not my bubbly self. I have had to go on antidepressants to deal with it. I’ve never felt worse mentally in my life. I'll be getting an IUD in 2 weeks, and I’m so excited to get off of the pill. I didn't get pregnant, but it's not worth the mental side effects."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this medication for three months, starting in May of 2018, switching from Lutera to Vienva, but out of the blue, three months later, I felt off. Jittery inside, hard to breathe, so I went to the ER, where my blood pressure was 189/109, STROKE LEVEL! After some digging, I found out my blood pressure at my last OB visit, Dec 17, was 130/84. Then I had an urgent care visit in June 18, which showed my pressure at 139/86, and now, Aug 29, it’s 189/109. The ER doctor did all the testing, and everything came back negative. I’m 36, eat 70% healthy, and work out 4 days a week, so I was puzzled as to why this is happening to me. This medication is the only answer I can come up with. I have a follow-up with my doctor this coming week to get more for sure answers. I have been off the meds now for 4 days, and my pressure has gone down to 145/165 back and forth. I just want to know how long until this is out of my system."

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control for about 15 years straight. I have never had a problem. Suddenly, my Loestrin was changed out of nowhere to Vienva. I went along. Recently, I noticed after almost two years, on the placebo week, my face cleared up and I just generally felt better than usual, which is weird for a period week. It took me a long time to realize Vienva was the cause of two years of anxiety, depression, horrible acne, and who knows what else. I am so grateful for these reviews, so I thought I’d leave one. Please keep track of your symptoms when switching brands. I am no longer taking this and hope to get better. I will say it is effective in preventing pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Vienva for almost 3 years now, but recently opted for a new BC. My anxiety has progressively gotten worse, my boobs are always so tender (and have grown from C cup to DD). I have irregular bleeding even when taking the pills regularly, and worst of all, I developed night sweats! I haven’t read anybody talk about the night sweats, but I saw one review mention hot flashes. I am literally 27, so I’m nowhere near menopausal age. Oh, the worst for me was the terrible cramping during rough sex! I remember when I first switched to this BC, the second time I slept with my now boyfriend I started having the most intense abdominal pain I had ever felt. He had to give me Advil and place a warm towel on my stomach. I should’ve switched right then, but I loved that I didn’t get dried out like with my old BC. Pros: I didn’t get acne, headaches, nausea, or pregnant (thank God)."

For Birth Control "I took Vienva for almost 2 years now. I’ve always had nausea, bad migraines, and recently really bad panic attacks. At first, I didn’t know why, I thought it was just me in general, but I just stopped taking this birth control, and I feel so much relief. I don’t have bad panic attacks or anxiety anymore. I’ve always had anxiety, but not to this extent. I feel like I can actually breathe and do things I love again. It had also caused me some depression, but it’s all gone away now that I stopped taking it."

For Birth Control "Vienva was the worst experience of my whole life. Like many, I was switched from Walgreens to this brand. I even asked the pharmacist if I would have any reactions, as in the past when they switched me, my body had a very difficult time adjusting to the medicine. They assured me that there would be no issues and it's like taking my current birth control, which was Lutera. Well, they were wrong. After a couple of days of taking it, I have had severe headaches, nausea, suicidal thoughts, depression, fear, constant panic attacks, bloating, more acne, and I've also gained over 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Currently, I am scheduled to go to my gynecologist to get a new form of birth control because apparently mine is no longer being produced. For anyone that's being routed to this birth control - use caution."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy switched me from Sronyx to Vienva due to a price increase of Sronyx. I was hesitant, but the pharmacist told me that they were the exact same thing and I shouldn't experience any changes. The first dose, I felt normal. The morning after my second dose I felt terrible. I had severe cramps that forced me to call out sick from work. I spent the day at home with increased anxiety and feeling depressed, something I hadn't felt in years. I genuinely thought I was going crazy. I decided to look up more information on Vienva, where I saw that I wasn't alone in these feelings. It definitely seems like something in this pill aggravates anxiety. Definitely wish my pharmacy would have informed me of this possible side effect. Overall, everyone's body is different, but this pill really did not work for me. I will be stopping this pill tonight and going back to my old b.c. pill."

For Birth Control "HORRIBLE!!! After being on the depo for 3 months, I had horrible side effects and constant bleeding. My gyn put me on Vienva to help regulate my cycle and also prevent pregnancy. Now I can’t live a single day without hating life. I’m extremely nauseous ALL the time. I get horrible anxiety, tender breasts, and horrible dizziness, to the point where I can’t go to class, and I can’t go to work because I can’t even function anymore. After reading everyone’s reviews, I will NOT be taking this pill ever again."

For Birth Control "This birth control has made me feel worse than I have ever felt before. The first few months were okay, I noticed a slight mood change, but after about 4 months, I noticed my anxiety and depression skyrocket, my hair is thinning, my cramps are much worse, and so much more. I truly do not recommend Vienva."

For Birth Control "The only good thing I can say is this pill lightened my periods so I wasn’t considered anemic anymore. It also helped a little with the severe cramping. However, the emotional toll was real, and I’ve been battling severe depression and anxiety since taking it, and after taking it every day, on time, for almost 8 months without missing one single day, I got pregnant, and now I’m about 35 weeks with a little boy."

For Birth Control "Vienva (birth control) isn't okay. When they switched me to this at Walgreens (like many people), I read the reviews and tried to go back and ask for something else, but the pharmacist assured me it was the exact same as the pills I had previously been prescribed. She said to not listen to reviews because it was the same pill as Aviane and Lutera, it was not!! I have been on those two for over 2 years and never felt as anxious and crazy as I did on this pill. I'm hoping next month they give me another brand."
