For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control about 3 months ago. I’m currently sexually active, which is the reason I’ve started taking it. It has done a very good job preventing pregnancy and did well keeping my periods regulated for the first two months. Towards the end of January, I noticed spotting, which my doctor said was normal. I didn’t get my period until the 4th of February (which isn’t normal, I usually get my period towards the end of the month). Now I’m in the same boat as last month, except I’ve had absolutely no spotting, and it’s the 4th, and I still haven’t gotten my period. I haven’t missed any pills at all. I have also noticed that I’ve had terrible mood swings. I’ve also had acne, and now I have a rash on both arms, which can’t be caused by my laundry detergent, body wash, or lotions because I’ve been using the same brand/scent since before getting on birth control. It does prevent pregnancy, though."

For Birth Control "I've been told that many people have negatively reviewed this birth control, and I'm honestly a bit surprised at that. I am 17, and I take Orsythia for birth control as well as period regulation, and it does a fine job at both of those. I take the pill very faithfully every night and rarely miss a dosage. I am not pregnant, so the pill is doing its intended job, and I also get my period for about 4 days during the row of white pills. The only thing I don't like is that I break out a little bit more than I did on my previous pill. Other than that, I recommend at least trying this medication."

For Birth Control "I'm a newbie to birth control and have never tried any other contraceptives other than condoms before. This pill does the trick. I broke out the first week, which is to be expected. Have actually lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks due to this pill. No water retention after 2 weeks. No tummy ache after a few days. My skin is clear, I'm not moody, I'm sleeping better, and I've not gotten pregnant. A++"

For Birth Control "Worse birth control that I have ever been on. I am 30 and started taking Orsythia to help with pain before and during my period. Shortly after starting, my face started to break out all over, and then two weeks later, I went to the ER for chest pain. X-rays and an EKG say that I'm fine, and the doc said that it could be inflammation causing the pain. My breathing is all over the place now when I exercise, I feel nauseous and want to vomit most of the time, and now I'm getting anxiety from all of this. I have three more pills until my period, but I'm no longer going to take them. Setting up a doc appointment to get this cleared up."

"I've been on this birth control for about 2 weeks now (I know it's early), but I've had a horrible experience so far! I've had constant headaches, constant vaginal discharge (a lot at that), deep severe stomach pains, and my sex drive is not there. I have been very depressed, and I cry all the time over nothing. Some nights, with the pain of nausea and headaches, I've wanted to go get checked out. I'm acne prone, so I break out anyway, but I have noticed recently more acne starting to pop up. When this pack is done, I'm definitely going to ask to switch because constant pain is not worth it."

For Birth Control "I tried this for my acne. First 3 months it was under control, then suddenly got extremely worse. I have so much hormonal acne on my chin and neck, it has NEVER been this bad. My periods are great, but I do not recommend this for acne."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for 3 days, and I can already tell what the side effects are. I have horrible nausea and have been vomiting. My legs and feet are swollen, I have started getting acne on my jawline, and I have been having the worst cramps ever. Gonna stick with it for a week until my doctor gets back to prescribe new medication."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for close to seven or eight months. It was great at first, absolutely no side effects, until the last three months on it. I was bleeding for four weeks at a time with one week of no bleeding in between. This was my only issue with this birth control. I have been on three other birth controls before this one (stopped because they were discontinued) and have never had any problems with any of them, which just shows that I am not prone to mood swings or breakouts, cramps, etc., so this pill worked for me personally but may not work for just anyone."

For Birth Control "This medication made my breasts hurt for the entire two months that I was on it. I could barely wear a bra because they hurt so badly. Most birth control pills that I have been on have cleared my acne completely, but I all of a sudden had severe breakouts, especially on my chin, while on this medication. The only good side effect was that it decreased my appetite, but I was hungry again during my periods. My periods were also regular and light."

For Birth Control "I had been on Lutera for more than a year with no side effects or issues to speak of. My pharmacy switched me without notice to Orsythia, and my biggest complaint (after less than three weeks of use) is that I'm now experiencing deep, painful breakouts around my chin, which I'm attributing to Orsythia since it has been the only thing in my routine that's changed. Needless to say, I've already met with my gyn and will be switching to a new pill as soon as this pack's done."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this pill so it could help my PMDD. I have an anxiety disorder, and during my time, I would have horrible anxiety attacks and depression. This pill receives a 10/10 for helping me with that issue, however, the other side effects dampened the positives of this medication. It made my sex drive plummet. I felt like a menopausal woman for the duration I was on this pill. Secondly, it made my acne blow up for the first 4 months I was on it! It wasn't until I went to a dermatologist and started using a topical treatment that it began to clear. It also made me retain a few pounds in water weight, and my breasts got bigger. I just started Tri-Previfem yesterday, so I hope I can get my sex drive back!"

For Birth Control "Orsythia is my first birth control and I have been taking it for a year now. I started out with tender and growing boobs for a couple of months, which is fine, and I have gained weight because it makes me crave food. However, my periods are a lot lighter, always on time, and no cramps. My acne slightly subsided, but I break out badly on my chin right before my period. A little more irritable and emotional, but so worth it. I’m too scared to switch because all other BC reviews are horrible. After a while, my boobs went back to normal size."

For Birth Control "My experience so far is not that good, but not that bad either. However, I would like to try a different brand besides this one. I've been using this brand for about 2 years. When I first started this birth control, I had very bad headaches for the first 3 or 4 months. My appetite at that time also increased. My acne was getting worse as well, but it's a good thing it has cleared up. I've been feeling so bloated and depressed lately that I felt like crying for no reason at all. I have had some chest pain as well, which I think is known as heartburn. It doesn't happen often, though. Now the pros of this brand are that I haven't had bad cramps like I used to. My periods have been regulated and light. It's not horrible, but it's not great either."

For Birth Control "This is by far the worst birth control I have ever experienced. I have been on the pill for 5 years, and this was given to me as a filler between my annual exam (I normally have a different brand). I had no idea that brands can differ so much, and I thought nothing of it. Right away on this pill, I became sick to my stomach and thought I had the flu. I had horrible gas and heartburn. My breasts hurt horribly. I got horrible acne all over my chin! Then, by the third week, I started to feel mild cramping in my calf and sharp pains all over my body. This pill has inspired me to go off the pill in general. Horrible experience."

For Birth Control "I was on this for about six months. I used to have periods that lasted six days at a time, and I would have a long time in between. I've also always been small and have trouble gaining weight. I've never had acne. As soon as I went on this, I broke out and gained eight pounds even though I was eating less and exercising more, and have been emotionally unavailable. In the beginning, my skin broke out, but that changed after three months. My period still lasts as long, but now it's slightly heavier, and I get it nearly twice as often. However, I have to give it a seven because my fiancé and I have unprotected sex, and I am not pregnant. I have had slight breast tenderness, but that has also gone away for the most part."

For Birth Control "I have severe menstrual pain, so bad to where I throw up, and I am in bed for the whole day. So I decided to get on the pill. My doctor prescribed me Orsythia, and it changed my mood severely. I was very mean and grumpy all the time, it felt like I was on edge all the time. Which is not like me at all, I am a very easygoing, go-with-the-flow, never really get mad type of person. It did not help my cramps as much as I thought it was going to. It also made me have really bad headaches and acne. It has been almost a week since I've stopped taking it, and my mood and acne have cleared up. The only thing now that I've noticed is that my knees and ankles ache after coming off of the medication. But I'm sure that will clear up soon."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking Orsythia last month because my periods would last 13 days. When I took the placebo, it made my period last 7 days, which is still very long for someone taking birth control. I’ve also experienced emotional outbursts out of nowhere, crying for over 2 hours, and my eyes were so puffy. It made me lose like 4 pounds, and my skin is clear now, but before, my skin started breaking out. I overall would take another one, and after I finish my 3rd pack that I have been given, then I'm going to switch."

For Birth Control "Everything was good with this BC, except for the fact that it ruined my skin. I stopped after a year, took a break, and started it again, and both times I had terrible outbreaks all over my chest and face, even though I had never had acne before. I've gone off it a second time, and my skin still has not recovered. I wish it didn't do that because I would like to stay on it, but I can't handle the acne it gives me. I never got mood swings or any other bad side effects while on it."

For Birth Control "I just started taking this not too long ago, and when I was supposed to get my first period, it never came. I've never had a missed period (it could have been hormones, but my lifestyle and stress levels didn't really change). When I got my second period on this pill, I barely bled. My acne has been so much worse, I feel like I'm back in high school. Can't remember the last time I wore foundation, and now I wear it every day. Funny thing is, I take medication already for my face, so you would have thought my doctor would have used common sense when prescribing this horrible birth control to me."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control since I was 12 (due to really bad cramps) and stopped taking it when I was 19 years old because I had to get new insurance. After my first year off of it, I broke out really bad, which was when I realized I had hormonal acne, and I felt anxiety not being on it. I think people forget this is a hormonal birth control pill. So if you have a hormonal imbalance such as acne, I highly recommend it, or if you have really bad cramps. Give it a try because everyone’s bodies are not the same! So happy I’m back on it!!"

For Birth Control "So much acne all over my neck and chin area. It's horrible, I feel bloated all the time. Going to stop this week. I am acne-prone, so this just ruined my skin that had been fine for a long time. I do not recommend this birth control for anyone."

For Birth Control "This is my favorite birth control. The only side effect I got from it was being more emotional, but that didn’t really bother me. I didn’t gain weight, get acne, etc. I’m currently researching for a new BC pill because they discontinued this one :( and I’m not sure as to why because it’s popular. I’ve tried Aviane, terrible for me, and they’re trying to make me take Larissa, but I’ve read a million bad reviews on it and am NOT taking it. I wish you could comment on these because I’d definitely take down recommendations you’d give."

For Birth Control "I've been on Orsythia for a year and a half, and I've had a regular cycle twice! I get it early, and it lasts 7-12 days, and it's just brown, not a true 'period.' Recently, I've started to get the bad acne everyone mentions. I'm 43 and have pimples on my chin and forehead (never had it before). It has eliminated my breast tenderness and cramping, though - that's why I stayed on it. But it's just too unpredictable, and so I changed to another birth control. I do not recommend it."
