For Birth Control "When I first went on the pill, it was to help with my PMDD, which I will say helped significantly. However, I have no sex drive. I used to masturbate at least once or twice every day, but now I'm lucky if I can even make myself orgasm in a month. Orgasms don't feel very good anymore, and nothing turns me on. Sex is painful and boring. Other than that, it did make my periods a bit shorter, which is one positive of this pill. The first week I was on the pill, I was super queasy, ugh! Some other side effects have been weight gain (only about 3-5 pounds, but still) and horrible acne in the first 3 months. I'm seeing my OB-GYN soon because my low sex drive is hurting my relationship and makes life miserable."

For Birth Control "This is by far the absolute worst birth control. It does its job at preventing pregnancy, but everything else is just awful. A week into it, I was ready to stop taking it! I had awful headaches and strong cramping and stayed nauseous. I gained a good bit of weight immediately, my face broke out and I was like, it's just side effects, it will go away when it gets in my system good. So I continued to take it. I stopped after completing the first pack. I had felt like a crazy person, my anxiety was through the roof, I was having mood swings, I didn't care about life, I went into an awful depression, and I was like, nope, can't do this, I knew it was the meds. So I stopped and little by little my stomach pains went away, the headaches were gone, my face started to clear up and I started my period again a week later and all the swelling went down, my mood swings, everything. But I have currently been bleeding nonstop, extremely heavy for 2 weeks now, no pains or anything."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 4 months now, and it's made my acne worse than ever. I have breakouts on my chest and never had before using the pill. My cramps are the same, and periods have not become shorter. I am switching brands."

For Ovarian Cysts "I am 40 years old. My doctor prescribed this medication to treat heavy bleeding due to an ovarian cyst that developed after several Clomid cycles with my infertility specialist. After three months, my periods are regular again, but at the cost of several unpleasant side effects. I have painful cystic acne in my genitalia, I have gone from being calm and relaxed to short-tempered, and my sleep cycles have been disrupted, leaving me tired all the time. The first day or two of my period is extremely painful, but that may be due to the fact that I have more like a 25-day cycle and the pill is trying to force a 28-day cycle."

For Birth Control "Been on this BC for three months now. I switched to this type in hopes that I would be able to regain my sex drive, but I was a bit put off after seeing such terrible reviews. I'll start by saying I do not experience anywhere near the severity of side effects most people are reporting. I have not gained any weight, but my breasts have filled out a bit. I currently don't experience any mood changes, although between the first and second month, I noticed that I was quick to get angry at smaller things much more frequently. This is no longer happening. My only complaint is the acne--I get a few cystic pimples on my chin on the weeks where I am on the active pills. Overall, I am very happy with this birth control."

For Birth Control "Like many other reviewers, I too was switched by my pharmacy from Aviane to Orsythia. I decided to give it a try because my doctor said that they both had the same ingredients and were made by the same company. I never experienced any side effects from Aviane, even when first taking them. Since I've been switched to Orsythia, I've experienced all the unpleasant side effects: nausea, massive weight gain (95 lb to 101 lb), breakouts, and major mood swings."

For Birth Control "After taking Lutera for 4 years, the pharmacy changed my prescription to Orsythia. I had little to no side effects with Lutera, now I have mood swings, acne under my chin, my cycle used to be every 28 days, now my periods are irregular. I will get my period again during the second week of the new pack. My cycle used to be 3 days, now at least a week. I was becoming afraid that something was wrong with me until I read the reviews. I'm going back to my OB-GYN!"

For Birth Control "Been taking Orsythia for one month. I've noticed breakouts of acne along my jawline and some random ones on my upper lip, some weight gain. I feel a bit swollen at times, my feet and my arms mostly. My mood has not been affected. Although I have been getting a lot of headaches since I started with this pill, every day practically, relieved by Tylenol."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "As I am not sexually active, I cannot state upon the effectiveness of this as a birth control, however, upon taking this, my anxiety and depression flared to the point that my therapist is suggesting medication for that. I have not experienced any odd weight gain, although my hunger signals are off (I do not get hungry nor full anymore). My acne is the same as usual, with no more or less cystic acne. I am choosing to switch birth control brands to see if it will change, but the emotional symptoms are just too much for me to handle."

For Birth Control "I'm a veteran birth control user for 6 years, and this one is so-so. I was on Seasonale for about 3 years. I had to switch to this one because my insurance didn't cover it anymore. So far, I've been on it for 1 month, and if you have normal skin *not* prone to breakouts, do not go on this pill. It will break you out bad, even down there! Which never happened to me before. It does the exact opposite of Seasonale. Seasonale dried the vaginal area, and this pill makes you discharge so much it's never dry, hence the breakouts. Moods are pretty normal. Sex drive is a little bit better than Seasonale since you don't have to use lube. Overall, it's okay. I'm going to switch though as soon as I am done with the 3-pack."

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control pills for about 10 years now, and I REALLY don't like this one. I switched from Lomedia 24 because I wasn't getting periods, which made me a little nervous. I have been on this pill for 4 months now, and I consistently get my period on the 9th day of the pack, and it lasts between 5-7 days, which is really long for an oral contraceptive. I normally have nice skin, and it has gone completely to hell - pimples and cystic acne on the lower half of my face. I also experienced a serious increase in appetite, which I have never experienced on a pill. I gave this pill a fair chance, but I'm getting back on my old pill next month. I gave this a 3/10 because I haven't gotten pregnant."

For Birth Control "I did not have a positive experience with this drug. This was given to me when my normal BC was on back order, and I didn't think anything of it and began taking Orsythia. Within days, my face began breaking out like crazy. Absolutely horrible, painful acne, whereas normally my acne is under control. Sure, I suppose it works as a birth control, but to me, it isn't worth this negative side effect."

For Birth Control "This is the worst experience I have ever had with a birth control. My acne is worse, and my mood is awful. I've felt depressed for the whole time I've been on it, where I just want to cry for no reason or if something does not go right. I have had calf cramps as well. My normal birth control is Lutera, and I have no complaints about it."

For Birth Control "I just recently switched from Minastrin Fe to Orsythia. So far, the only problem I have had with it is much more acne. The good side to it is that I only get my period for about three days, and so far I haven't had any spotting. I'm going to stick it out for a couple of months to see if the whole acne issue goes away."

For Birth Control "My pharmacist switched me to Orsythia after my regular birth control, Aviane, was unavailable. In the first 48 hours on Orsythia, I had terrible mood swings and anxiety. Then came the bloating, weight gain, and acne. I'm now on my placebo week, and my hormone levels have dropped so rapidly that I feel like a crazy person. Can't wait to get off this stuff next week! P.S. I would HIGHLY recommend Aviane to anyone looking for a low-dose birth control pill. I was on it for years and never had any problems."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this birth control for about a week now, and I have already noticed some changes. My skin is also acne-prone, and I was really hoping that this birth control would help with it. Without the pill, I usually have many bumps on my forehead, my chin is pretty red, and once in a while, I will get cystic acne. Now that I've been taking it, I have many new pimples all over my face, like my cheeks and on my nose, where I have never gotten it before. It's also given me more cystic acne, which is a pain. I really wish that it could have helped, but before I switch off, I want to wait a little longer to be sure."

For Birth Control "This birth control was completely effective for me when I was sexually active. However, when I was not sexually active for my last two months of taking this pill, my periods were more painful and barely bled at all. But while I was sexually active, I barely had any acne, didn't gain any weight, and had no problems with my sex drive. I took this birth control for almost 2 years."

For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control about 3 months ago. I’m currently sexually active, which is the reason I’ve started taking it. It has done a very good job preventing pregnancy and did well keeping my periods regulated for the first two months. Towards the end of January, I noticed spotting, which my doctor said was normal. I didn’t get my period until the 4th of February (which isn’t normal, I usually get my period towards the end of the month). Now I’m in the same boat as last month, except I’ve had absolutely no spotting, and it’s the 4th, and I still haven’t gotten my period. I haven’t missed any pills at all. I have also noticed that I’ve had terrible mood swings. I’ve also had acne, and now I have a rash on both arms, which can’t be caused by my laundry detergent, body wash, or lotions because I’ve been using the same brand/scent since before getting on birth control. It does prevent pregnancy, though."

For Birth Control "My experience was horrible. I had to stop because all the side effects became too much for me, and it was affecting my everyday work. As soon as I started taking this, I began getting headaches, nausea, dizziness, and my skin completely broke out. I have had good skin my whole life, and my face completely broke out. Also, my hair started falling out uncontrollably. I was afraid to even run my hand through my hair. I stopped taking this when these side effects became unbearable, and my lips even broke out. I began getting a lip rash and getting bumps all over my lips. The doctor said it was one of the side effects, in addition to my face breaking out. I was also crying all the time and overly emotional. The side effects were too much to handle."
