"Taken for nearly a year. Started after a terrible few months on Junel FE, when I was depressed and anxious & had no sex drive. Before Junel, I'd taken Loestrin for ~6 months (neutral experience), but my copay was so high I had to switch. After a few bad months, my doctor recommended Orsythia. And my NEW insurance covers it at no copay! PROS -No pregnancies! -Lighter, shorter periods with somewhat reduced cramps. NEUTRAL -May have helped clear up acne, although I think most of that was due to other prescriptions from my dermatologist. CONS -Somewhat decreased sex drive, but that also could be from my antidepressant, Escitalopram."

"I was on Mircette for over 5 years and loved it. No side effects. Due to insurance changes I was switched to Lutera and eventually given Aviane. Again, no side effects. My mail order recently had a manufacture change and sent me Orsythia. I gained 10 pounds (mostly water weight), had mood swings and shortness of breath. I could barely fit in my clothes and my periods were so inconsistent. I DO NOT recommend this pill. I'm going back to Lutera!"

"I started birth control my junior year of high school to help with heavy cramps. Though I did not start taking Orsythia until 3 months ago, but I am pretty satisfied with it. I have not really noticed any negative side effects. I have noticed a slight change in my breasts size which is not a bad thing and my periods are always on time and very short which is great. I am also very satisfied with its ability to prevent pregnancy. Over the course of 6 days with my long distance boyfriend we had unprotected sex 13 times and I did not get pregnant and feel great. So I say if your looking for a pill that will prevent pregnancy and help with period pain and such Orsythia is a good choice."

"This birth control made me depressed. It worked to prevent pregnancy, but the side effects were not tolerable. The worst was that I didn't realize it was the birth control and was so confused why I was so unhappy and dull. Once I stopped taking it my mood improved. Birth control reacts differently in each person's body, but if you are prone to mood problems I would proceed with caution."

"This birth control is by far the worst of any other I've taken. I have experienced severe mood swings and temperament, depression, bloating, AWFUL chest, back, and facial acne, and constant food cravings. I would never wish this drug on anybody. "

"I was on Orsythia for about a year. It did its job in that I did not get pregnant, but I had to quit taking it because of the awful side effects. Weight gain was minimal but definitely occurred. After about 6 months my acne became worse than it has ever been, but even that wasn't the worst of it. Orsythia brought my anxiety to an all-time high, and I was experiencing awful mood swings. All of these symptoms practically disappeared within 2 months after quitting it. I did not have anxiety before taking Orsythia, and now even though it has been almost a year since I quit (haven't taken another birth control since) I still have bouts of anxiety from time to time. I believe my anxiety was triggered by this birth control."

"Reading the reviews. I'm really jealous of those light period no crampers. I've only been taking Orysthia for 5 weeks and at first it wasn't too bad. I noticed significant weight gain during the past 2 weeks and am on my first period on birth control. They are killer. I have never experienced cramps this bad. I get sharp pains in my back, legs, shoulders, and stomach. Everyone's body is different and this pill isn't working for me."

"I have been taking this birth control for 3 days and I can already tell what the side effects are, I have horrible nausea and have been vomiting, My legs and feet are swollen, I have started getting acne on my jawline, and I have been having the worst cramps ever. Gonna stick with it for a week until my dr gets back to prescribe new medication."

"The worst birth control I've taken. I started getting side effects right away: pimples everywhere, would feel nauseous after I would take the pill, and felt bloated all day. If you're reading this review and considering taking this birth control, Don't. The only reason I was given this pill was because my original birth control (Lutera) was on back order."

"I was given Orsythia because my pharmacy had told me that Aviane was being discontinued. I was also told they were the same thing and made by the same manufacturer. I contacted Teva and was told that the information I was given was wrong, that Aviane is not discontinued and not under the same manufacturer. Aviane was perfect for me no acne, perfect moods, energy, and a good appetite (I need weight gain). The first week of Orsythia consisted of meltdowns, frequent headaches, dizziness, slight nausea, and acne lots of acne. Into the second week my nausea became a little bit worse and my temper would easily be disturbed, I also experienced very bothersome breast soreness. Stick to what works for you and do your research!"

"I was originally on Lutera for a couple months, my clinic transitions from Lutera to Orsythia occasionally. They have the same amount of medicine in them so it's pretty neutral. My experience has been pretty good. No headaches, lighter cramps and shorter period days (3/4). However, I became moody where I'd get very angry or very sad. It fluctuated but was persistent during my placebo week. My weight also increased a little, went from a size 1/2 to a 3/4 with lots of bloating 3 weeks of the month. Not too horrible I've been on this transitioning medicine for over a year and have not had any pregnancy scares or babies. Does it's job well with some side effects."

"I have been on Orsythia about two weeks. My doctor prescribed it to help control my terrible PMS and cramps. I am bloated constantly. It looks like I have a little baby in my belly. My pants are tight and it sucks but I am going to stick it out and hope that it will go away after a month or so. I have been sleeping terrible and I am tired all the time. My breasts are tender 24/7 and I feel a little like in a cloud....not really depressed but not excited either. I haven't had any problems so far with acne and my appetite has actually decreased. I am hoping it will all level out in a few months."

"I started this birth control in November of 2013, waited about a month and a half before I started having sex and it protected me. I stopped in mid-March and got back on it two weeks later right after my period. Then 12 days after I started taking it again, I had unprotected sex and I was so scared I was pregnant but I'm NOT. It's best to start taking this birth control RIGHT after your period or during your period, you will be fully protected. Only side effects were the weight gain because my appetite increased. Other than that I was good. Light periods that last about 1-2 days also."

"I was on Orsythia for 9 months and loved it. Before the prescription, I would have normal/heavy periods for 7 days and experienced a lot of premenstrual mood swings. After the pill, my mood swings disappeared and my skin cleared up (haven't had a single pimple since I started). I experienced spotting for around 2 weeks in my first month but my period regulated after that. My period then reduced to 3-4 days of light bleeding, manageable with just a panty liner. I didn't gain any unusual weight and it didn't lower my sex drive. I recently just switched to Nexplanon, a hormonal implant. I loved the pill but unfortunately, it is a hassle to have to remember to take it every day, reorder the prescription and take it with me when I traveled."

"I have tried probably about 8 different birth control pills trying to find the right one, and Orsythia is it! I used to get yeast infections right before my period like clockwork, not an issue as soon as I began this one. I have been on it for 3 years, and sexually active the entire time without condoms, and have not gotten pregnant. I haven't noticed any breast tenderness or nausea (and I have a SUPER sensitive stomach and am nauseated by many things). The only side effect I have been able to notice is vaginal dryness, but this his happened with every hormonal contraceptive I tried. Clearly this isn't the pill for everyone, but for people who are having trouble finding the right one, give it a chance, it truly changed my life."

"I've been on this pill for 1 year and I've gained 30 pounds. I've been the same size for years until I started taking this pill. My emotions are crazy but it does make my periods shorter and not as uncomfortable"

"I was previously on Tri- Previfem, and had horrible acne, cramps, and mood swings on it. Switched to Orsythia and I am currently on the third week. My acne is totally gone, I've gotten one pimple this month (I would get 7-10 while on Tri-Previfem. No more mood swings and I am totally satisfied with it."

"i saw negative reviews on Orsythia but decided to try it anyway, but I wish I hadnt. I was so anxious and had the worst mood swings. I would get so angry over little things I wouldn't give a second thought to normally. I snapped at my boyfriend, friends and family practically once in every conversation when I used to be so calm and light-hearted. I eventually thought enough is enough and switched to Junal Fe and finally back to my normal self. Orsythia also made me completely repulsed by food, so I lost about 12 pounds, but I'm barely 5 foot 2 so 12 pounds is a huge difference. Only positive is that I didnt get pregnant."

"I was given Orsythia because my pharmacist switched me from Lutera. This birth control actually kills my appetite resulting in a little weight loss and even better, increased my breast size. My main complaint is that I get large, deep breakouts on my chin but a salicylic acid facial cleanser is helping with them. Also, I wake up in a bad mood every morning. I have only been on this birth control for a few weeks and definitely isn't as good as Lutera but I will wait for my body to adjust a little more. I would definitely say give it a try before you call your pharmacist screaming."

"After taking Lutera for 4 years, the pharmacy changed my prescription to Orsythia. I had little to no side effects with Lutera, now I have mood swings, acne under my chin, my cycle used to be every 28 days, now my periods are irregular. I will get my period again during the second week of the new pack. My cycle used to be 3 days now at least a week. I was becoming afraid that something was wrong with me until I read the reviews. I'm going back to my OB GYN!"

"I started this pill June 2014, and have had only a positive experience. No weight gain, no acne, and no pregnancies! I use to get bad back pain and cramps however after starting the pill, they are gone and my period only lasts 3-4 days. I do get emotional right before my periods do but nothing to extreme. I would recommend to a friend, as I know friends who have also had a positive experience."

"I've been on orsynthia since I was 14. I am now almost 19. I am nauseous a lot and cry for no reason. I am very moody all of the time and and have a lot of mood swings. I have an EXTREMELY low sex drive, to the point that I think it will ruin my relationship some day. I am sexually active but I am always safe using condoms so I haven't gotten pregnant. For me, orsynthia has stopped the clotting during my periods but I still will get cramps and my periods will sometimes be very heavy. I never got acne so that hasn't been a problem for me. If I were you I would steer clear of orsynthia and make this your last choice birth control."

"I honestly didn't have a problem with this pill the first 9 months I was on it. After that tho, my breasts grow and REALLY hurt every single month then shrink back to normal before my period begins. I've experienced nausea, super low sex drive, tender breasts, increase of appetite, you name it! I'm paranoid that I'm pregnant every month on this stuff! I'm finishing the last pack and switching for sure!"

"I've been on this now for a little over a year. At first the birth control worked great for me! I would only have about four day periods and I barely ever had cramps. But starting about three or four months ago, everytime I'm not supposed to be on my period I will start on my first or second week of the pills and will be on it until my month of pills are gone. I'm not sure if it's my bodies way of saying it doesn't like this pill anymore or what.. has this happened to anyone else? I'm going to my gyno soon and I want to either switch my BC or get completely off it."

"I've been on Orsythia since January. Ever since I've basically completely lost my sex drive. I'm never in the mood and I have terrible sleep and very irritable. I thought it was just me but reading the reviews and people saying basically the same things I'm having makes sense. The only good thing is that Ive barely had any cramps."
