"I would just like to state some things for anyone reading the negative reviews and getting worried, because these comments stressed me out for weeks. It is important to understand a couple things. For one, people who experience no negative side effects don't tend to write reviews, because they are so content with the product that they don't think about it. Secondly, all birth control pills affect each individual completely differently. What one person thinks is the best pill another will swear up and down it is the worst. If your doctor prescribes this pill for you, don't be too afraid to take it. Give it a chance and it may be great for you, as it was for me. If it's not, just stop taking it and find one that better suits your body."

"I've been on Orsythia for one year and it's been a breeze. Zero side effects — literally zero. You will find a plethora of horrible reviews for this pill, which is actually what spurred me to write this positive one. Remember that people that are content with their pill don't always think to write a review, I didn't! I've had no acne, no weight gain, no mood swings, no pain, short and light periods, no spotting, and NO PREGNANCIES. Give it a try, everyone's bodies are different. Just because other people have had a bad experience with a medication doesn't mean it will happen to you!"

"I was so scared to start this pill because of all the negative reviews, so glad I started anyway! I had been on the Mirena for 5 years and didn't want another, so my Dr. prescribed me these. First, they were free under my insurance. I have not gained ANY weight and have had zero side effects! Other than making sure to remember to take them, it has been a painless transition. Don't be scared of the bad reviews, what works for some may not work for others! These have been great!"

"I have been taking Orsythia for about a year and a half, and I have no complaints about it. After reading a lot of the comments, I noticed people were only unsatisfied with it because of pimples and weight gain. Sure, I get an occasional pimple or cramp, but can we look at the bigger picture? It does its job in protecting us from getting pregnant. That's all I have to say."

"I have been taking this pill for two weeks now, and I have noticed I've been feeling super fatigued. I am usually energetic and outgoing, but the past two weeks all I have wanted to do was sleep, even while I'm out with friends, I'm still tired."

"I like this medication! I was scared to try it because I read all of the bad reviews. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen-Lo for about 4-5 years prior to trying Orsythia and had no problems, but wanted to switch because of the cost. No acne, no mood swings, no period changes. Well, I thought I'd do people who are considering switching pills a favor and give you hope - you'll probably be fine."

"I'm mainly posting to balance out the negative reviews. I have been on Orsythia for about a year, and frankly, it was a godsend. Before Orsythia, I turned into a crazed, evil, sobbing wreck every month. Once I got on it, I finally managed to get my moods and Mega Death Cramps under control. Lexapro helped also :) If you have just been prescribed this, I urge you to try it out and give it a chance. Remember that satisfied customers almost never post reviews, and it has helped a lot of women!"

"This pill has been pretty close to perfect. No weight gain, no depression, and my periods are much lighter and shorter. During the first few months, my acne got really bad, and I almost got off the pill, but then it went away around month 3, and my skin is pretty clear. I think this was just a bodily reaction to the change in hormones. The only negative is that this pill does make me drowsier than I used to be, but I can manage. And plus, I'm not pregnant, so I guess it's doing its job pretty well."

"I'm just about to finish my first month of Orsythia, and I love it! Everyone will have a different experience, but mine is great! I have no bad side effects. I don't know if it's the birth control, but ever since I've started taking it, my acne has been under control, I've lost weight, and my breasts seem a little bigger! I don't have any cramps or feel any more tired than usual. Definitely happy with this birth control!"

"I had been off birth control for about 3 years after a horrible experience with Loestrin 24 Fe. I was terrified to get back on the pill. After my partner and I weighed pros and cons, we decided to get on the pill. I'm so glad my doctor prescribed this brand. I was a day 1 starter, and immediately I felt relief from cramps. I have had no cramping at all since I started (very much unlike Loestrin), and my period was light and only 3 days long (relief). I've had to control my emotions at times (I've noticed I'm slightly more emotional), my breasts are slightly tender, and my stomach thinks it's hungry all the time. Don't give in to the tummy grumbles! Keep yourself on a healthy diet, and you will not gain weight (so far no weight gain at all)."

"First time ever starting birth control, and the reviews on here scared me! So glad I decided to tough it out! I've been taking it for 4 months, and the only symptoms I have had are a little more emotional outburst two days before my period (not that big of a deal, I was always prone to PMS emotional outbursts anyways) and breakthrough bleeding the first month. No weight gain, no acne (actually, less acne). I realize all women are different, but just thought I'd share my mostly pleasant experience with this pill! Oh, and of course...it works! Not pregnant!"

"I've been taking Orsythia for almost two weeks, and my emotions are all over the place. I get very upset at my boyfriend for no reason, and I tend to cry a lot. I have also had a little more acne than usual."

"After these reviews,I understand one thing-all body is different. I am 27,taking orsythia for 1 year and before I took other pills. All of them have the same symptoms. About gain weight-girls you just have to control yourself during taking pills,do sport, eat the same portion of food(not double), have wonderfull relationships and life is wonderfull!!! Moodiness etc... it is not because of pills,it is because of ur thoughts. We use to think that someone or something is guilty in our problems. Boolshet"

"I had been on Lutera for several years and never had trouble with it. My pharmacy switched my medication to Orsythia. I have only been on it for 2 weeks, and I am unbelievably bloated, my clothes hardly fit, I have gained weight (probably due to the bloating), and my skin has broken out. My husband thought I was going through puberty again! I hate to see what the third week is going to bring. I had an appointment with my doctor and told her about my symptoms and told her about the pharmacy switching my medicine. She wrote another prescription for Lutera and told them not to substitute. I want my Lutera back!"

"I've taken oral contraceptives for a couple of years, almost 10 years ago. I decided to try again and was prescribed Orsythia. While it does its job - I'm not pregnant - I'm constantly tired and sleepy, my sex drive is almost nonexistent now, my breasts often hurt, and the first day of my period is very painful. I can take Tylenol for the menstrual pain, but other side effects are unacceptable."

"I used to get extremely heavy periods and very severe cramps, and I was looking for a birth control pill that would help with it. My OB/GYN prescribed me Orsythia, and I was a little worried about side effects from what I've read online from others. But, I had none! No weight gain, mood swings, acne, or nausea! Nothing at all! My problems with cramps and heavy periods went away within three months, and there was a definite improvement right when I started taking it. No more cramps or acne, and my periods are now super light! I can't speak for everyone, since hormone pills will affect everyone differently, but this pill was a perfect match for me! I'd highly recommend it for birth control and managing difficult periods."

"This was the first birth control that I've ever tried, and I've honestly experienced no problems with it. I had mild nausea for the first two months and an irregular period, but my body quickly adjusted to it. I think that all of the bad reviews on here are from people whose body was just so adjusted to that other pill that they just couldn't take this one. My sex drive is good, my weight is steady, my face is clear, and I'm not pregnant."

"I've had no negative side effects. Been on it for two months. No acne, I lost weight and my sex drive shot through the roof! No pregnancies. Only thing is my periods are a bit heavier and more cramps. But it only lasts four days."

"I've actually lost weight on this pill. Every other birth control pill made me gain lots of weight. Periods are short. It has no side effects that I've noticed. Compared to other pills I've tried, this is the best. I recommend it! I do not get acne, or crazy mood swings, or anything of that sort on this pill. It works beautifully"

"I was switched by my pharmacy from Aviane to Orsythia. After three months of trying it, I have requested to go back to Aviane or try something else. It made me have longer periods and mood swings. I would feel like I wanted to cry at everything. I am glad I read the reviews on here, and it was not just me."

"I've been taking this pill for 6 months now, and I'm calling my doctor today to switch. I'm constantly tired, my cramping is more painful than when I was on a different pill that was discontinued, I have 10-day periods when I used to have 3-4 day ones, headaches all the time, and absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. The only positive thing I can say is no pregnancies!"

"I was nervous taking this med after reading negative reviews but, after a rough first week that included nausea (quelled by taking Dramamine) a nasty headache, having my face break out (I am 46 and do NOT get break outs), and then break through bleeding...everything calmed and I've loved the medicine ever since. All the original side effects went right away and my period was extremely light and short...love it. Glad my Dr convinced me to stick with it because I almost quit taking it."

"I don't have anything but good things to say about Orsythia. It regulated my periods really well, reduced and shortened bleeding, and completely got rid of my cramps. I haven't noticed any major side effects. No spotting, no weight gain, and no acne issues. I've noticed I'm sometimes a little bit more emotional during week 1, but it's never been of any issue or effected me negatively. As of now I have no plans of changing from this pill."

"Love this pill! I tried Ortho Cyclen, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and Loestrin 24. They all made me emotional, have angry outbursts, and a hazy feeling. I didn't want to go back on the pill because of that, but I wanted to give it one last shot. It hasn't affected my mood or weight at all. Everyone's body is different. If you have issues with a pill, look up the hormone combination. I noticed that the three failures had one in common and tried to find a new pill that didn't contain that hormone. Orsythia was one, and I really am happy I gave it a shot. What works for one person might not work for you. Keep an open mind and keep trying until you find what works for you."

"It works well. I've been on it for 8 months. I think the only bad thing is that I spot before I start the last week of pills. It's not a big deal, but it's kind of annoying. I was switched the first month from Lutera to Orsythia, and I didn't have any side effects from either. I haven't gained weight, my sex drive is great, and I haven't had any random breakouts. It's a good pill."
