For Birth Control "This pill has been a never-ending nightmare. It was okay while I was taking it, though it gave me ridiculous amounts of acne on my face. The problems began when I decided to try for another baby. I stopped my birth control, thinking I'd go on my period and that would be that. However, I did not get my period for 6 months. My body refused to ovulate. After being on a cycle of Provera to try and jump-start my system, I've finally gotten my period naturally, but now it hasn't stopped in more than 2 weeks. I feel like this nightmare of side effects will never end. Save yourself the trouble and consider a different birth control option. This pill is awful."

For Birth Control "I have been on Marlissa for almost a year now. I used to have severe cramps and heavy bleeding throughout my period. The first few months, I didn't notice too much of a change. For one, I take it at night as most medications upset my stomach (so I didn't really have any nausea). It didn't do much to make my cycle lighter until about 4-5 months in. Now, I do still have some cramping around when my cycle 'should' be (I naturally have a shorter cycle), but beyond that, am quite satisfied with this medication. My periods are much lighter, I do still break out some during my period but not as much, and it effectively prevents pregnancy for me. I do still experience some PMS symptoms, but not as severely as before. I haven't noticed any weight gain I could attribute to this medication."

For Birth Control "I had a love-hate relationship with Marlissa birth control. I loved that it gave me the lightest and shortest periods ever (I used to have the worst cramps and bleed heavily for 5-7 days). My period was only about 4 days and super light on this pill. However, when I first started this pill, I had horrible mood swings. I was depressed and would lash out at everyone. That settled down after a month, but then I noticed I gained weight, about 10-20 pounds. My hunger got larger, so that’s probably why. The main reason I switched, though, was because of my acne. It made my acne worse than it was before BC."

For Birth Control "I have been on this drug for more than a month, currently, I’m struggling with eating. If I even see food, it makes me sick. And I’m a pretty heavyset gal, but for the last week, it’s been miserable trying to eat."

For Birth Control "This is my 7th month on Marlissa. For the first 2 or 3 months, my breasts were extremely sore. Like to the point that I couldn't wear a bra at all. However, after about 3 months, that pain has mostly subsided. I do experience cramps even when I'm not on my period now, however, they are not severe. My periods are much more manageable, even though the discharge is very thick. They only last 4 to 5 days, and my flow is a bit lighter."

For Birth Control "I started Marlissa because I was having horrible periods, and I have already tried two other birth controls that didn't work. At first, it minimized my constant bleeding, but it didn't actually regulate my period until about four months later. Even though it took a while for my body to adjust, it has been the best thing that's happened to me. The only bad side effect that I've had is if I don't eat within 15 minutes after taking it, I will throw up, and lately I've been kind of angry, but not to the point that I can't control it. Overall, it has taken my period away (because I start a new pack on Wednesday of the placebos), and my boobs have grown! I'm also very forgetful, and I will forget to take it for one or two days, and when I take them all at the same time, it doesn't have any adverse effects like the last ones!!"

For Birth Control "Something has changed in the formulation of this drug. I developed a rash that looked like giant hives after starting a pack and into the third day. I thought it was unrelated, but then it happened again when I started a second pack. I have changed to another brand and had no problems."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 7 months, and the first 4 months went by smoothly until I got to months 4-7 where I'd randomly wake up in the middle of the night feeling nauseous. It was the worst feeling ever. That being said, I never felt depressed and never gained weight."

For Birth Control "On my third week of Marlissa and my period, well, I’ve had my period since my first day of taking the pill. I’ve been emotionally anxious and depressed. I’ve also been really gassy. I just want to know if anyone else has had this experience with nonstop periods."

For Birth Control "Do not take this. I only had one good week out of the month. I was extremely bloated and looked 4 months pregnant the other three weeks! I couldn’t poop or have normal periods. This birth control caused my B12 to be extremely low. It depleted my blood cells and caused my body to not regulate. Would be nice if men could take birth control instead of us women!"

For Birth Control "Horrible! I was taking Portia and loved it! My pharmacy stopped carrying Portia and switched my medication to Marlissa without telling me. I noticed I began to get a lot of bad breakouts on my cheeks and back. I never have acne, and these pills made me break out like crazy. I also had horrible mood swings, migraines worsened, and it would make me feel extremely depressed. Absolutely hated it!"

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control, Marlissa, for about 2 years. I got a yeast infection every single month exactly one week before my period. I went to my OB/GYN, and he said probably my panties, but I know it wasn't. I was sure it was my birth control. I dealt with it for 2 years!! Finally, my partner and I decided to have a baby, and so I stopped taking this birth control, and I have not had any yeast infections since. Now I'm on the mini-pill because I'm breastfeeding, and till this day I have had zero infections. I'm so relieved it's over!!"

For Birth Control "I can say that Marlissa is the best and the worst birth control at the same time. On one side, it didn’t give me any mood swings, and it regulated my periods. I had less PMS, and it made my skin good, less cramps. However, on the other side, I gained 20 pounds in one year of birth control. In the beginning, everything was good, but when I hit 6 months, all went bad (weight). This month completes one year that I’ve been on it, but I’m seriously thinking of changing to another one, because I can’t deal with these extra pounds. Maybe it’s the cost of having a nice birth control with my mood? But not with my physical side."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Marlissa for almost a month now. It’s 50/50 in my opinion. Not even two weeks after I started taking this pill, I got a really BAD yeast infection. Currently did not heal from it, I’m pretty sure I'm waiting for the test results to come back about that. Honestly, I was very surprised my boobs grew a size bigger literally overnight. I do have bloating and mood swings since I’ve started Marlissa. I still have not gotten my period, and I’m halfway through my cycle pills. I switched honestly because my doctor made me. Low-key thinking about switching again because of the really bad yeast infection I’ve had since I started taking this pill. My acne has been HORRIBLE since starting this too. This pill also makes me very nauseous."
