For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control, Lutera, for 4 months now. I don't have any complaints about it! My skin is actually clearer than when I started, though my skin care routine is the same. I haven't gained any weight, had any nausea, mood swings, or depression. I'm a type 1 diabetic as well, and it hasn't affected my blood sugars at all."

For Birth Control "Been on Lutera for 4 months now, and it's been good! Went to Planned Parenthood because the wait for my gyno was 2 months, and I didn't want to continue risking pregnancy... newlywed here! I was worried at first because I had terrible side effects from other BCs (Depo made my hair fall out and Seasonique made me overly emotional and gave me sharp chest pains). I take this one at 10:30 pm each night. Side effects for me: my boobs are larger and sore; I was a little crampy the first few weeks; I get moody around 6:30 pm each night like clockwork (I'm guessing due to the hormone levels dropping in my body?). Skin and weight stayed the same. Periods are light, short, barely any cramps. No baby. Also, I still have my HAIR! Happy so far."

For Birth Control "I just moved to the United States, and now I needed new birth control, and honestly, I tried Lutera, and it worked amazing. My old birth control was the worst, so I was skeptical about trying Lutera, but with the new birth control, I had no mood swings, I did not break out, in fact, it cleared my acne tremendously. I only need birth control to control my period and not break out, and it worked amazing."

For Birth Control "I started Lutera in January. I felt very nauseous almost all the time in the first month. My breasts grew significantly. My acne has cleared up. I did notice that I am very emotional and moody ever since I started Lutera, especially the day before my period. I'm pretty consistent with when I take the pill. I usually take it around 10-11 a.m., but for the days I almost forget and take it at night, I feel really sick the next day."

For Birth Control "I am 27, small-frame body constitution: 5 ft 4'' tall, normal weight 113, married. Previously, I have been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 2.5 years, and I have gained 12 extra pounds to my normal weight. As I said, with OTC Lo, I have experienced all kinds of side effects from weight gain and face swelling (fluid retention) to hair loss, 9-day periods, and mood swings. I didn't feel/behave feminine at all. Having switched to Lutera, I noticed the difference - it took about 4 days for these extras around my waist area to disappear. I gained half a cup size, I feel very lady-like compared to the OTC Lo (don't laugh, but this is how the previous pill affected me). My periods are down to 5 days and are relatively painless. It agrees with my body."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera about a year and 3 months, and I love it. Clear skin, no weight gain, but I lost some, no mood swings, no cramps, no tender breasts, no pregnancies. I had heavy 7-day periods, now I have light 5-day periods, which is awesome."

For Birth Control "The first birth control I ever used was Ortho-Cyclen. I took it to help lighten my periods and was on it for about 9 months. Though it did help with my periods, I just didn't like the woman I became on it. I then switched to the patch and experienced the same thing. Next was the Depo shot. Ladies beware! To follow were 3 months of complete hell. My mood was constantly up and down, and just about anything could send me into hysterics. Refusing to continue with the shot, I asked my doctor for a low hormone birth control, and she suggested Lutera. It's been 5 months now, and I couldn't be more satisfied. My skin is clear, I went from a B to a D cup, and best of all, no mood swings! I am so happy with this pill. I 100% recommend it."

For Birth Control "The pill worked great at preventing babies, but it did make me extremely tired all the time. Plus, it made me super emotional, crying about the littlest of things to being angry about everything. It also made my skin break out really bad."

For Birth Control "At first, I hated this pill but had a 3-month supply. In the first 2 months, I had spotting all the time, crazy mood swings, intense cravings, and cramps around PMS time and was losing a dramatic amount of hair. On the bright side, my acne was non-existent and I noticed weight loss. By the 3rd month, I feel most symptoms cleared."

For Birth Control "I first started taking Lutera around the beginning of January. I noticed immediate mood swings within the first 2 weeks of taking it. I had a little trouble sleeping one night and literally started sobbing out of nowhere (mind you I'm not a very emotional person). It made me extremely depressed, and I only ever felt angry or sad, never happy, not to mention I felt very disconnected from my boyfriend, who I am deeply in love with. I immediately got off of it during the third week. They say to stick it out the first 3 weeks at least, but I could not stay on it one more day. I immediately noticed the changes, and I was back to my spunky positive self, thank God!"

For Birth Control "I've only been taking Lutera for a week or so now, but I'm pretty happy with it. I researched a lot about it, and I was super scared to take it. People were saying they were having severe headaches, hair loss, decreased sex drive, etc. The first day I started taking it, my vision was a little bit off, things looked a tad blurry. I was a little more emotional than usual, but nothing too bad. By the 3rd day, my vision was back to normal. I've barely experienced any side effects. From the reviews, I thought everything was going to go wrong. I have noticed my hair grows faster, like I will shave my legs, and then by the afternoon they will be prickly. The best part was that it's free. I got it from my local Planned Parenthood."

For Birth Control "A couple of years ago, I took Lutera for a year and didn't have too many problems. I stopped taking it, then re-started 6 months ago. This time was bad. My mood was off - little things would make me super aggravated or want to cry, while 'better' days made me extremely happy and hyper. I also had on-and-off dryness down there - pretty uncomfortable, especially sex-wise. The worst part was the 2-week periods I got on this pill. For five months straight, I had my period for half the month, with cramps, lower back pain, irritability, and heavy bleeding. The gyno kept saying it was my body adjusting, but after the fifth month of this, I'm taking a break from birth control for a month and then switching to another pill."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for a year. It has protected against pregnancy very well. My periods are much lighter, and I almost never get cramps. I have missed 2 periods, which was a little scary. I have gained about 8 pounds, and I crave sweet foods even more than I used to. My breasts are slightly bigger. I feel tired if I don't get at least 10 hours of sleep. My sex drive is slightly lower. I do have a mood swing usually about once a month, where I cry about anything and everything for 2 days. I have always felt more emotional right before my periods, but I did not cry as much before. I think I am going to switch birth control because of the weight gain. Other than that, the side effects do not bother me."

For Birth Control "I am only on week 2 of Lutera, and I am stopping it. I know you should wait for the first few cycles to really get a feel for it, however, I cannot take the side effects anymore. Even after the first week in, I felt weird. My mood was so weird, I was all over the place. Crying for no reason, irrational thoughts, angry outbursts. Then I started having the weirdest cravings and nausea as bad as my morning sickness was. So bad that I went and bought a pregnancy test while I was spotting because I was convinced I was pregnant (negative). I haven’t been on it long enough to know if I would gain weight, but I can already tell by the way my appetite has been that I would have. Cramps and bloating with bleeding during week 2. BAD idea to use this form."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for almost a year, and that's the first and only birth control pill I've ever been on, so I can't compare it to others. However, I have found this pill pretty good. The lower dosage of hormone still works as well as any other pill as long as you wait about three months after starting it. My skin got so much softer, and my periods are now very predictable. My breasts got a lot fuller (B-D cup), and my hair grew longer and is now shinier. I have mild mood swings, but that's how I was before I started Lutera, so I doubt it's due to the pill. I did gain some weight, I get a few stomach cramps, and my breasts hurt a little from time to time. Everyone's different, and I recommend this pill to not only first-time users, but to everyone."

For Birth Control "I'm 23, and I've been taking Lutera for 2.5 years now. At first, it was great, I didn't have any side effects except for mood swings now and then. But after 2 years, I've lost my sex drive almost completely and have a lot of trouble with natural lubrication. I also have really dry eyes. At least I haven't gotten pregnant, I have an alarm to let me know to take it, so I have never missed a pill and have taken it within the same 10-minute time frame every day. Today, I ordered the Skyla after talking it through with my doctor, and I can't wait to not have to remember to take a pill anymore."

For Birth Control "I've used about 3 different brands of birth control, and this one is by far the worst. I do not recommend. I took a break from pills for a couple of months, and when I started back up, I started using Lutera. I've been using it for 4-5 months, and I feel horrible. I can say that it does a great job at protecting from birth, and my periods haven't been a problem at all, but I feel horrible. I don't feel like myself at all. I feel disconnected/groggy almost all the time. My libido is completely gone now. Mood swings. I've been so unlike myself for the past few months, so I've decided to stop taking them."

For Birth Control "I love Lutera. I am very sensitive to other forms of birth control. Lutera has been one of the only kinds I can take. Pros: light periods, no cramping, no intense side effects, bigger boobs. Cons: brown periods, slight weight gain. I also tend to get a bit emotional 1 or 2 days before my period, however, I am always an emotional person, so this could just be me. I have been on Lutera for 6 years."

For Birth Control "I have never taken birth control before, and for my size, my doctor recommended something with a very low dose of hormones, which was Lutera. When I first started taking it, I had extremely bad nausea for the first week that was impossible to cope with. Then I started getting really bad mood swings. I am always a positive person and happy all the time. This pill has completely changed my personality since I started taking it. I am always so tired and sleep 12 hours a day, I get so emotional over the smallest things and start crying at random times. I cannot go through a day without having a mini breakdown. I'm coming off this pill."

For Birth Control "I started Lutera about 2 weeks ago, and the only side effects I have noticed are slight tenderness and swelling of my breasts (not really a problem) and occasional mood swings (which are easy to control if you're aware you are having mood swings). At first, it was difficult remembering to take the pill, but I set an alarm on my cell to remind me. I set it for a time when I'm usually awake and not busy. The pill, however, like any other birth control, will cause slight weight gain, so it's wise to cut back on the amount of calories you consume while on this pill. It does not stop your period either, well at least not for me. My menstrual periods are much shorter and somewhat lighter, but still there. Also, I've noticed occasional, slight cramping."

For Birth Control "Just started 2nd month on this pill, Lutera. I have never taken any kind of hormonal birth control before this. So far, the side effects have been few and have been all positive. I've found that my mood is actually more regular in general (less feelings of anxiety and depression/PMDD), period is much lighter with no pain, and my breasts have grown (not tender). My libido has always been high and now seems to be the same, if not slightly higher. The security of knowing that it is extremely unlikely I'll get pregnant is the biggest bonus of all; that in itself has relieved so much stress for me and my partner and may be what is helping with my mood more so than the hormones. So far, so good. And so worth it for me."

For Birth Control "I have taken 4 other birth controls. I am now in college and recently had to get the IUD taken out, so my doctor prescribed me Lutera. It is the worst birth control ever. Wish I did my research. I’m going on month 5, and I feel like a psycho girl. I get so angry at the smallest things, cry all of the time, have anxiety over everything, and feel depression on the regular. You would be so surprised at how this pill can affect your moods for the absolute worse. I didn’t even realize. I am no longer taking it, I want my self back."

For Birth Control "My doctor prescribed me Lutera since I am new to birth control. One major thing is that you really need to set a reminder (on phone, alarm clock, anything) because it is pretty easy to forget about it. I've been on the pill for about 9 months, and it's pretty good. Small things include: weight change (decreased - also my change in diet, I think), more acne than before I was on this pill, slim to no mood swings, slight spotting between periods, and definitely lighter periods. I wouldn't say shorter but definitely lighter. Overall, pretty good product for a first-time user. Just make sure you set an alarm, it also comes in a green sturdy pack, so I guess you can find it if you put clothes or books over it, and it's peeking out."

For Birth Control "I started Lutera mainly for birth control purposes. I have been on it for about 4 months, and I hate it. At first, I noticed I was acting slightly different, even my best friend mentioned it, but I thought it was just my body getting used to the pill, and I would go back to normal soon. Since then, I feel as if I am not the same person anymore. I have become increasingly moody, emotional, snappy, needy, dependent, grumpy, and have no patience. I have begun to push my friends away and broken up with my boyfriend. I feel like I cannot enjoy small situations or even a little bit of stress. I made an appointment and plan to talk to my doctor tomorrow about getting an alternate pill or coming off of it altogether."
