For Birth Control "I'm shocked how much I like this pill. I've tried everything and always had such terrible side effects in the past. It's been 4 months on Aviane, and I'm very happy with it. My period comes exactly on the first placebo day each month and is lighter, with no cramps. I have not noticed any changes in acne or mood swings and feel happy. It does make my breasts tender a few days each month, but they've gotten bigger overall, so it's worth it. I have not gained any weight and actually lost a few pounds."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 2 months, and I think I am going to stop taking it. For 2 months, my breasts have been extremely sore and don't fit in my bathing suits or bras like they used to. I know bigger breasts is usually a good side effect for most people on birth control, but when you already wear a 32 DDD, the last thing you need is bigger breasts! I have also noticed much more bloating and weight gain (about 5-7 pounds). My face has stayed clear, but I cannot deal with the sore breasts and weight gain."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 5 months and haven't experienced any negative side effects besides tender breasts around the time of my period, but other than that, it's been fine. Shorter, lighter periods and not pregnancy, which is very nice."

For Birth Control "I took Alesse for a couple of years and liked it so well that I stopped taking oral contraceptives entirely when it went off the market. But for the sake of convenience, I wanted to start again, and I assumed that inexpensive Aviane, the generic for Alesse, would be the same. Either it isn't, or my body chemistry has changed. I've felt some occasional mood swings, but worse, my periods last for at least a week, and mid-cycle, my breasts are so tender and sore that I can't stand to go running. I think it's time to switch."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for birth control, less cramps and a lighter period. Overall, the pill got the job done. I had very light periods, and they lasted only 5 days. However, only one month into taking the pill, I got my very first yeast infection. Since then, I have had many infections/vaginal irritations, sometimes lasting a whole month! This has ruined my sex drive and made me very uncomfortable. I finally realized that maybe the pill is causing this irritation, and I have been off of it for a week. Feeling better... Also, breasts grew a full size but were always very tender. I never had bad breakouts, but I did gain a little weight - 5 lbs."

For Birth Control "I barely started taking this birth control 2 weeks ago exactly. The first week I was fine, however, in the 2nd week of taking them, I got my period. I have been bleeding heavily the entire week. I normally have my period for about 5 days, 3 heavy days and 2 light days, with minimal cramps, however, this period has been going on for about 7 days now, bleeding heavily the entire time. My breasts are in excruciating pain (my breasts normally hurt before I start my period, not during my period). I have been so tired, sleeping by 9 pm. I have had the worst cramps, dizziness, some headaches, and I haven't had an appetite. I'm going to finish the birth control for the next 3 months and hope that things get better."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for almost 3 weeks. My breasts are swollen and very tender (that began about a week and a half after I started Aviane). I am extremely tired most of the time, even though I am getting sleep. I'm always hungry, have already put on a few pounds. I feel like I'm more short-tempered and moodier too."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about a year now, and by far, the worst side effect of it is the weight gain and breast tenderness. I haven't experienced any other negative side effects. I've gained 20 pounds in the last year, I feel frequently hungry, and more recently, bloated all the time. I've gained an entire cup size, which under any other circumstances would perhaps be nice, but I already had larger breasts for my small frame, and now they're just out of control. To go from 5'4" with large Cs to gaining 20 lbs and large Ds is just really very uncomfortable. I have unsuccessfully tried to lose the weight, but I have now decided to change my birth control entirely."

For Birth Control "This pill is the worst one I've taken; I've never been on such a problematic birth control like this before, and it's causing so much stress in my daily life. I switched from Reclipsen because it gave me a migraine every day. On the bright side, this pill hasn't given me any. Unfortunately, what it has given me is terrible acne, depression, day-long lasting nausea, and the day before my period, I had horrible pains in my right side from my belly button to the bottom of my pubic bone that I nearly went into the ER. It was so debilitating that I couldn't move a muscle. Now, upon my self-examination, I've discovered a lump and have nipple discharge. I'm not entirely sure if the birth control is the direct link, but my doctors and I will see."

For Birth Control "I switched brands to Aviane. I have been taking this for three months now. The first two months were awful. My symptoms were synonymous with pregnancy symptoms, and I even had to take a pregnancy test. I had spotting, awful cramps, weight gain, breakouts, breast tenderness, morning sickness, fatigue, mood swings, and even depression. Now, things are starting to get better. I only get headaches occasionally, painful cramping, and breast tenderness. My skin has completely cleared up, much to my surprise. I am iffy about this brand of birth control. I'm going to continue for a couple more months, and if things get better, I will stay on it, and if things worsen again, I am going to switch."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for many years. It has worked wonders for me. I had to switch to a different brand for insurance purposes, and immediately I gained 10 pounds, and my breasts were extremely sore and swollen. I NEVER had this with Aviane. I've already called my doctor, and I am switching back right away."

For Birth Control "My breasts hurt. I get mood swings, headaches, a lot of nausea, which in a way is good because I lost a few lbs instead of gaining weight. However, it gave me depression. On the other side, periods are great, very light, and no cramps or anything. I tried NuvaRing once, and I had this horrible discharge, so I stopped using it. I've been on Alesse in the past, but insurance doesn't cover it. My main reason to take birth control is to prevent ovarian cysts. I hope it works because they are very painful. I think I'm going to keep using it for another month, see what happens."

For Birth Control "This will only be my second month taking this pill, so I know my body may need more time to adjust, but I just wanted to share my initial reviews. Positives: It has really cleared up my skin, and my period has been lighter. Negatives: my mood swings are extreme, I have gained weight, I get nauseous and have slight headaches, and my breasts are sore and seem to be bigger. (I was already a big cup size, so wasn't looking to have more added on.) All in all, though, I am going to give it another 2 months to see if things start to change."

For Birth Control "I just started my 3rd week of active pills yesterday, and so far, so good. Before Aviane, I was on the Depo shot for a little over 2 years, and I had so many problems and was miserable. So far, I've had nothing serious: a little bit of breast tenderness, a few cramps. My sex drive has definitely increased from what it used to be. I take my pill at night but haven't really had any nausea. Going on my 3rd week, I sort of feel like PMS symptoms, but it could also be stress. Hard to tell. Overall, I'm happy with this pill."

For Birth Control "This medicine caused me to bloat severely! I constantly had gas/burping that never stopped. I felt terrible all the time, except when I was on my period (during the placebo pills) - which is crazy! I would get dizzy after I ate. Had no energy to do anything. Tender breasts all the time. I constantly had weird pains and early periods that were extremely painful. They were lighter, though, which was nice, but most birth control pills do that. I tried it for 7 months, and the symptoms only got worse. As soon as I finished my 7th pack, I switched to a new brand, and my symptoms immediately went away!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Aviane for over a month now since I was prescribed it for my hormonal breakouts and irregular, painful periods. I had breakthrough bleeding for the second week of my first pack, but it wasn’t bad at all, I just needed a liner. My skin broke out at the beginning but is now so much better and only left with some scarring, absolutely zero cystic acne already! Worked very quickly. I’ve had no cramps, and I had a light 4-day period during my placebo week. Only side effect is my boobs hurt on my period SOOOO bad I can’t even hug people, but they are growing, so not complaining! Everyone is different, but for me personally, I love Aviane."

For Birth Control "I really liked Aviane. I had used it previously but had to go off because I was admitted into a unit where my hormones had to be properly monitored without any interference. I went back on it again in September because I got a new boyfriend and wanted extra peace of mind. For the first couple of months, it worked great, no super huge side effects, other than being a little bit more of a crybaby and more dryness. Made my periods lighter and my cramps way better, no weight gain. But the past two months, I’ve gotten such bad breast tenderness that it changes everyday living and couldn’t even sleep because I’m a stomach sleeper, so I have an upcoming doctor's appointment to switch off of it."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Aviane for about 3 months now. The birth control has cleared up my acne-prone skin, but does come with other side effects that are hard to ignore. The breast tenderness is intense. So tender that even a light touch is unbearable. Nausea is also a huge problem. I have days when I’m so nauseous that even when I eat I have to vomit. The nausea here lately has worsened. I have taken a pregnancy test just to rule it out; not pregnant. My sex drive hasn’t been affected much, thankfully. I plan to give Aviane a year. Hopefully, these side effects will subside."

For Birth Control "I'm 19 years old and on Aviane 28 after being on Lo-Loestrin FE. The first month was good. I bled for a week starting out from a change in hormones, but the second month I had breakthrough bleeding for 2 weeks leading into my period. Hoping the 3rd month is better or I'm switching. It does cause breast tenderness, and if you have depression already, it might make it worse."

For Birth Control "The first week of taking the pill was terrible, my period lasted for like 9 days, my breasts were extremely tender, and I was breaking out. The first 2 months were bad because I was spotting, my breasts were continuously tender, and I would break out. The pill was basically giving me the same side effects that I get when I’m about to get my period, but constantly. Also, I remember on the 2nd week of being on the pill, right after sex, I would get the worst cramps that would last for 2 minutes. I never had this happen previously, but the next week, those stopped. After 3 months, things were normal, but a little while after that, I’ve started to get migraines from time to time. Now I’ve been taking it for 5 months. No more spotting or strange cramps after sex, but only migraines from time to time and tender breasts once in a blue moon. Also, a little breakouts."

For Birth Control "I was put on Aviane, which has been one of the worst experiences of my life! I was recently in the ER because I was experiencing shortness of breath every time I stood up, irregular heartbeats, and chills. I took it at night, and by the second morning after being on it, I cried six times in one day! I am a super happy, upbeat, friendly person who isn’t usually very emotional, but this pill took me from being my usual optimistic self to a depressed mess that doesn’t want to get out of bed or talk to anyone! It's so bad that I’ve seriously been looking up ways to detox my body from this pill. I have no emotion other than depressed, angry, sad, annoyed, irritated, or just overall blah. My breasts have been hurting every time I lay on my stomach, and they were growing quickly. From here on out, I would much rather deal with severe cramps, headaches, and horrible periods than ever take this pill again! I do NOT recommend this pill to ANYONE! Ever!"

For Birth Control "I have taken both Aviane and Falmina-both brands of levonorgestrel-estradiol 0.1-20 mg-mcg. Have had nothing but a good experience. My first month taking Aviane, I had some bleeding during the middle of my cycle, which might have been because I started it during the middle of my cycle. But since then, no spotting, periods always start 2-3 days after starting reminder pills. Very minor breast tenderness, only some months, but nothing different than I had with periods before I took Aviane. No weight gain, nausea, or anything like that. Highly recommend!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for almost 3 weeks now. So far, I've had nothing but bad things. Sore breasts, headaches, bad acne. Now I'm on my period, but the thing is, I'm on day 5. I usually only bleed for 4 days, usually three light days, then one heavy. I've been through two heavy days. I feel like I'm going to bleed to death. I had the worst cramps yesterday. I really hope I stop bleeding soon."

For Birth Control "Wanted to share a positive review since that doesn't happen often! Also, because I was pretty nervous to start birth control since many of the women in my family have responded poorly to it. I've been taking it for a month (so, time will tell if things change in the future), and I have had minor side effects. The first week, I did have one night of bad nausea, but that was definitely due to me not eating very much before. The first week, I also had a minor breakout on my chest. And the only ongoing side effect has been tender boobs, and I'm pretty sure they have grown a bit, too. Otherwise, all positives and hoping it will stay that way :)"
