For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control regularly for almost a year now. I am very sensitive to the hormones and experienced extreme sickness, I mean to the point I was throwing up every morning and on the verge of passing out, no matter what I tried to prevent it. I learned that taking it in the morning solved this problem. Negative side effects are that I have a huge appetite (thankfully a high metabolism), constant headaches, worse PMS, no motivation, tiredness, irrational mood swings, and last week I noticed breakthrough bleeding and cramps halfway through the pack. But all in all, my periods are short and I'm not pregnant yet! Remember, every woman is different."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've ever been on, and it works great. I've been on it for about 6 months. My period only lasts 5 days now, with no spotting whatsoever. I've had no abnormal bleeding; however, when I'm on my period the first day, my cramps hurt a little more than usual. My minimal acne is about the same, but during the first few months, I noticed that Aviane cleared my skin up quite well. During my periods when I stop taking Aviane, my acne might flare up a bit. Some days my mood swings get worse; I find myself angrier at small things or I get depressed for no reason. It's not a big deal to me. My weight also stayed about the same - I've lost almost 3 pounds, but during the first few weeks of taking Aviane, I was hungry a lot."

For Birth Control "I've been using Aviane for about 3.5 years now. I did notice some major mood swings getting on or off the pill, but after about a month, I think my hormones regulated back to normal. Other than that, I haven't had any other side effects unless you consider an almost non-existent period a side effect. I still get paranoid when I miss a period, but so far, so good. This has worked for me."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this Aviane pill since February (so about 5 months now), and I absolutely hate the way it makes me feel. Ever since starting Aviane, my periods have been at least 10 days long or more, and my last period lasted a full 2 weeks, which is incredibly annoying. I have the worst mood swings ever and cry at the slightest things and often find myself hysterically crying for no reason. I have felt incredibly depressed since starting Aviane and want nothing more than to feel like my old self again. The only positives of this pill were that I didn’t gain any weight, didn’t experience any acne breakouts, my sex drive didn’t decrease, and most importantly, I didn’t get pregnant! I talked with my doctor, and she believes the reason for my symptoms is that the dosage of hormones is just too low for my body, so I received a prescription for a pill with a little bit higher dosage (Marlissa) and will be starting that soon."

For Birth Control "At first, this pill made me miserable. I had the worst mood swings and took it out on everyone around me. I stopped taking it after one month, but then I tried it again a few months later, and nothing bad happened. You just need to give your body enough time to get used to it. No weight gain, no mood swings (by the second month), no breast changes, etc. My face isn't totally clear of acne, and my period cramps/flow is only a little less, but this is a good pill if you just want the basics without altering your body."

For Endometriosis "My endometriosis was diagnosed 2 years ago. 1 year ago, I started experiencing pain during my ovulation too. My doctor recommended Aviane because it has few side effects. The first weeks, I experienced mild headaches and nausea, but the symptoms didn't bother me. I'm regular, but I didn't have my period during the 1st month of taking the pill. By my doctor's recommendation, I would only take hormones and not the placebo pills at all for 3 months. After a few weeks, my period came, more days than usual with a lot of pain. It wasn't abundant, but it wasn't spotting either. The pain during ovulation was not reduced, the headaches are the worst, and the breast pain is bad. I have mood swings, not depressing (anger episodes), and I had the worst vaginal infection ever, something very strange for me. With this coronavirus around, I was unable to see my doctor. I decided to stop taking the pills, in my case, the pain is worse than before. Maybe the pills need more time to adjust, but not thanks."

For Birth Control "After getting off of Ortho-Tricyclen Lo, I switched over to several other generic brands, which my gyno recommended, all of which had crazy side effects (breakthrough spotting/bleeding, acne, rashes on my face, crazy mood swings). Aviane is the first one that I've had no problems with so far: clear skin, no mood swings. Only minor issue is the small weight gain due to my increase in appetite, other than that, no complaints whatsoever!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 3 months. During the first month, things were okay. During the last two months, my breasts are constantly super sore, and I have (mild but annoying) cramping every day. My breasts have also definitely gotten bigger, which is okay, but I'm not sure the pain is worth it. Also, before my last period, I turned into an emotional monster, and I'm usually pretty even-keeled. I know it can take a few months to even out, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to give it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been having a hell of a time finding the right b.c.! Major mood swings, cramps, nonstop bleeding, no sex drive, but so far I like Aviane. I'm on my second month. I am no longer bleeding (first pack I did for a while, but my body had to adjust). No mood swings, normal sex drive, breasts a bit tender and larger (not mad about that), appetite a bit bigger, but for me that's good. I need to gain weight."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 3 months now and have had severe mood swings. My boobs grew a half size, but it doesn't make up for the mood swings I've been having. I'm normally a relaxed person, but Aviane makes me extremely angry. I am going to switch pills as soon as possible."

For Birth Control "Worst medication. It did what it was supposed to, but the side effects aren’t worth preventing pregnancy. It was okay, but I bled for the first month. Then my skin broke out, then was fine after the first month. Then the severe water retention and weight gain happened. Started at 120 lb and am 170 lb now. The premenstrual symptoms were insane. Like I had mood swings, anxiety, and depression. I’m a year in and have had serious suicidal thoughts. I never had mental health issues prior to this medication. Out of the whole month, I only felt mentally stable one week. That’s so crazy. Please don’t take them. Your mental health isn’t worth it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for over a year now, so I have a pretty good idea of its effectiveness. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this medication, and I have had a positive experience with it. The only downside is that I experienced crazy mood swings the first 3 months of starting the medication, but it regulated itself and went away. Other than that, I am obviously not pregnant, did not gain weight, never had problems with acne, and no nausea. It also regulates my period, and my period starts on the exact anticipated day every single month for over a year."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for almost 2 years as of a week ago. The first week of taking it, I experienced mood swings and weight gain, but it settled after a while. I was good for about a year, never got pregnant, but just recently I noticed I had severe side effects, from depression to being angry all of the time. I even started to get irritated 'down there' after every cycle. I just switched to Tri-Sprintec, so hopefully this works wonders. Don't go off of my horrible experience, everyone's body is different."

For Birth Control "I personally was on Aviane for about 8 months. The first 3 months were pretty much flawless. I had a problem with my appetite to begin with, gained some weight, and dropped it shortly in the next coming months. Didn't experience any acne or stomach nausea. After three months, my period got progressively worse. I had intense cramps and felt downright miserable. My entire body ached. Aside from feeling awful, I was miserable to be around. I had mood swings I've never had before. Aviane was driving me crazy on my periods. I felt like a different person. My friends, family, and boyfriend could even tell I wasn't myself. Just wanted to put this out there, if someone was curious, there are other options."

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for a few years. I had absolutely zero problems. No weight gain, no terrible cramps, although I did have normal cramping. I did feel emotional at times, but not anything that was affecting me majorly. I was switched to a different birth control, and I’m not happy."

For Birth Control "I'm finishing up my 1st month of Aviane, and all I have to say is it is great. I've had a little spotting, but it's never that much, and it never lasts for more than a couple of hours. I haven't gotten any mood swings, no weight gain, and my acne has cleared up very quickly. This is definitely the birth control I would like to stay on. Even though everyone's different, this pill works great for me."

For Birth Control "This is the second type of birth control (both the pill) that I have been on. I was only on the other kind for a month because it made me crazy, and I had awful mood swings. I took a year off from any birth control pill, patch, etc. because I was scared to have a similar situation. This pill has been an overall good experience. I do not have any irregular mood swings on this pill. I have been on it for about 3 months now, and my acne is still worse than before I got on it, not that it's a big deal. Also, I have had a lot of abnormal spotting on this pill. It seems like, at first, every 2 weeks or so I started my period. It's pretty light, but I get bad cramps that last for 2-4 days."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for three weeks now. I had switched over from the NuvaRing because I was having problems with that. I have been feeling nauseous. Mood swings? Holy crap! I feel like I need to check myself into a mental hospital because I am very sure I might be going crazy. My face has always been clear. Never have I had an acne problem. I don't even use face wash ever. Occasional pimple here and there when I have my period, but never major. This birth control has wreaked havoc on my skin. Something terrible! I scheduled another gyno appointment just to get off this stuff!!! Not even one pack in and I'm begging to get out! I do not recommend this birth control for anyone!!!!"

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old, and I have been using Aviane for two weeks now, and right away I noticed increased libido but major mood swings. I gain and lose weight pretty quickly, so I would have known by now if it causes weight gain, and it doesn't. The only downside for me is the mood swings, but I noticed that it's manageable with a small cup of coffee; I feel better instantly. All in all, this is a pretty good pill. The reason I changed pills was because of decreased libido with Loestrin 24."

For Endometriosis "I've been on Aviane for almost a year now, but recently started taking it continuously because of the terrible breakouts and mood swings/depression I was having on a monthly basis around when my period would start. Pros: continuous method (for me) works well at delaying periods and not dealing with the negative, no weight gain (Sprintec made me put on a lot of weight), easy to use, milder cramps, breasts went up from C's to D's, lighter flow, prevents pregnancy. Cons (with normal use): major depression-like symptoms for 2 weeks of the month, breakouts (I can usually keep them under control), enlarged breasts, feeling tired before period week."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on Falmina for three years, but when Walgreens bought Rite Aid, I was given Aviane, exact same low dose as Falmina but the generic brand. I've never had breakthrough bleeding on Falmina, but with Aviane, I bled EVERY DAY of the pack. Also, I've had terrible anxiety and mood changes. Never taking this pill again."

For Birth Control "My doctor first prescribed me this medication in October 2017, and I was doing just fine. Now it did help with my acne, but not until December, and ever since I started to take it, I’ve experienced horrible mood swings and depression. Let's not forget the nausea and hot flashes, which is the worst. Other than those symptoms, I didn’t mind it, but by mid-February, I started to have bloody discharge and spotting (breakthrough bleeding). Of course, I called my doctor and explained to him what was going on, and he assured me it’s just my body getting used to it (this late in the game?) and told me to wait 3 months to see if I needed to up my dose. But it is now March, and I can’t take it anymore, so I’ve decided to stop taking it since I’m on my last week, and hopefully, that’ll stop my breakthrough bleeding."

For Birth Control "I can honestly say this birth control almost ruined my life. Immediately, I noticed a change in my mood and was crying all the time, which wasn't like me. After being on it for a few months, I started getting these weird light-headed spells. I would mostly just ignore them until around month 8, I had a full-blown panic attack out of nowhere. I had never experienced anything like this before and was extremely scared. That developed into months of anxiety and panic disorder. When I finally realized it was the BC causing my issues, I stopped taking it and my anxiety went away. That was 4 years ago, and I have never experienced anything like that again, so I 100% believe it was because of Aviane."
