For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 1 week. I was so scared to start BC. I was on Yaz for about 2 years 3 years ago, and it was not good. Aviane: no weight gain so far, my breasts got bigger, super clear skin, increased libido, loss of appetite, no nausea, no headache. Yaz: 1st week nightmare, dizzy and severe nausea, it went away after the 1st week, no weight gain, loss of libido, got very emotional. Every woman is different, but in my personal experience, Aviane has been by far better and a good option overall."

For Birth Control "Positives: I've been on this pill for over a year, and it's alright; I'd be terrified to try another one. 3-day, perfectly timed period with light bleeding compared to my natural, heavy, and often painful one. My skin is pretty clear, and I now forgo makeup altogether. Negatives: I have had increased headaches, ranging from 0-3 per week depending on my stress level, but if you can avoid stress, it shouldn't be too bad. I don't like that my ovulation mucus is gone; I loved knowing myself that way, but most women probably don't care. Also, I think my sex drive may have decreased a bit, although I still seek the deed. (-/+) I did get extremely nauseous when I started taking it in the morning, but switched to nighttime and largely eliminated that problem."

For Birth Control "Every birth control I have been on before has given me migraines and made me gain excessive amounts of weight. I have switched maybe 6 times. Since I have been on Aviane, I have lost weight and continue to lose weight with every period. I also don't get as many headaches. I am very happy with this pill."

For Birth Control "I've only been taking Aviane for 2 and a half weeks, but so far the only side effect I have had was the first 3 days or so. I had mild to severe headaches the next morning, I take my pills at night. Haven't had any headaches since then. I have noticed an increase in my sex drive, which isn't a bad thing."

For Birth Control "I barely started taking this birth control 2 weeks ago exactly. The first week I was fine, however, in the 2nd week of taking them, I got my period. I have been bleeding heavily the entire week. I normally have my period for about 5 days, 3 heavy days and 2 light days, with minimal cramps, however, this period has been going on for about 7 days now, bleeding heavily the entire time. My breasts are in excruciating pain (my breasts normally hurt before I start my period, not during my period). I have been so tired, sleeping by 9 pm. I have had the worst cramps, dizziness, some headaches, and I haven't had an appetite. I'm going to finish the birth control for the next 3 months and hope that things get better."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about a year, and I have had a lot of breakthrough bleeding. My period is not predictable like it is on most birth controls. I just called my doctor to get put on something else. I also got pretty bad headaches while on this birth control."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking the Aviane pill for a month. I’ve taken Lessina and Lutera before and never had any issues like the ones I’ve had on this pill. I experienced anxiety for the first two weeks that eventually went away. My skin has cleared up, however, I still get about two breakouts here and there. My first cycle was completely fine, except it ended up being longer than what my cycle usually is. I did spot during the second week and then three days before my second expected cycle. My second cycle right now hit me like a wrecking ball. My cramps are so bad, and I’m sick to my stomach. I have a headache, backache, and bad nausea. I’m also really emotional and cried a couple of times, which is not normal for me. This is the second day where I’m feeling this way, and it’s definitely not worth me continuing to take this pill. I’m going to look into another pill because I’ve never had this many side effects before."

For Birth Control "My experience on this was bad. The only reason I hate this is because of headaches. They were so bad my eyes would not focus and they would get lazy. I tried everything and didn't notice it was my pills until I switched. I switched because I got weird cramps. It has helped against pregnancy, no weight gain, normal appetite, but the headaches were bad. When I went on my other pills, I didn't like them, so I tried to switch back to those and noticed right away the headaches. Not my favorite, but it's different for everyone."

For Endometriosis "I have been on this birth control for about a month and a half now. I have had some side effects within the 2nd and 3rd weeks with nausea and getting sick to my stomach after I ate, and I did get a headache here and there. I have felt slight weight gain, but nothing too noticeable, and the first few days I was a complete and total cow, but that's gone away very quickly. Otherwise, this pill is good for me. No serious side effects. I haven't had a period yet since I went on vacation and didn't want to have it because I wasn't sure what to expect, but I will have one at the end of this month. But so far, so good."

For Ovarian Cysts "After the month, I started to have headaches. I've always had cysts and, as a consequence, acne. It got worse! Terrible! And I started to have hair everywhere! It's horrible! The doctor said it was going to get better after the three months, it's been six, and it's just worse every day. I'm definitely changing."

For Birth Control "I wanted to try a new birth control because I was having acne issues with my old BC. The very first time I started using Aviane, I noticed some side effects right away. When I would start a new pack, I would have several mood swings and felt very sick. I had to call off work for the first 3 months (the first 1 or 2 days of each month) when starting a new pack because of the sickness it was causing me. I pushed through because Aviane was eliminating my acne, and I figured the side effects would go away eventually. I've been taking Aviane for almost a year. I don't get sick anymore, but I still get mood swings and headaches. I wanted to read reviews because I wasn't sure if my depression was caused by the BC or something else. I don't usually get really down and think negatively, so I really do think it may be the birth control. My negative thoughts are becoming too much, I get sad sometimes, and I just want it to stop. I will be switching to a different BC!"

For Birth Control "I switched brands to Aviane. I have been taking this for three months now. The first two months were awful. My symptoms were synonymous with pregnancy symptoms, and I even had to take a pregnancy test. I had spotting, awful cramps, weight gain, breakouts, breast tenderness, morning sickness, fatigue, mood swings, and even depression. Now, things are starting to get better. I only get headaches occasionally, painful cramping, and breast tenderness. My skin has completely cleared up, much to my surprise. I am iffy about this brand of birth control. I'm going to continue for a couple more months, and if things get better, I will stay on it, and if things worsen again, I am going to switch."

For Birth Control "My breasts hurt. I get mood swings, headaches, a lot of nausea, which in a way is good because I lost a few lbs instead of gaining weight. However, it gave me depression. On the other side, periods are great, very light, and no cramps or anything. I tried NuvaRing once, and I had this horrible discharge, so I stopped using it. I've been on Alesse in the past, but insurance doesn't cover it. My main reason to take birth control is to prevent ovarian cysts. I hope it works because they are very painful. I think I'm going to keep using it for another month, see what happens."

For Birth Control "This will only be my second month taking this pill, so I know my body may need more time to adjust, but I just wanted to share my initial reviews. Positives: It has really cleared up my skin, and my period has been lighter. Negatives: my mood swings are extreme, I have gained weight, I get nauseous and have slight headaches, and my breasts are sore and seem to be bigger. (I was already a big cup size, so wasn't looking to have more added on.) All in all, though, I am going to give it another 2 months to see if things start to change."

For Birth Control "I've started this pill 3 weeks ago, and I've had a headache the first three days, and at the end of the first week, I had really bad cramps that I never had before. It lasted an hour. I did have some mood swings where I would just break into tears, but after that first week, I haven't had any pains or mood swings. My skin did change, and I am breaking out, but it doesn't really bother me. I've always had bad skin. This is the first time I have been on any sort of birth control, and so far so good. I just got my period, so I'm not pregnant. I take it first thing in the morning with water and never got nausea. Oh, and my weight hasn't changed. Yay!"

For Birth Control "I've tried the following BC pills: Ortho- used to give me backaches and significant weight gain. Loesterin FE- gave me intense headaches and spotting. Alesse-wonderful! I just switched to the generic brand of Alesse, Aviane, and I hope it has the same effect as Alesse!"

For Birth Control "I have never stuck to one birth control before because I have always had bad experiences with side effects. I am on my first month now, and I feel so ill. My nausea is extreme, I have had a headache for weeks, and I'm very off balance. The only thing that has changed in my life is starting this birth control. I am going to give it another month and see what happens."

For Birth Control "Was on Ortho Novum 7/7/7 for about 8 years until my sex drive started plummeting. Then I was on Microgestin FE 1/20 for 3 years before I started missing periods, which isn't a horrible thing except for if you are in an intimate relationship and sexually active. So my doctor switched me to Aviane. The first couple of months were going fantastic, but after that I noticed that I would cry and get emotional at the most ridiculous things and get more than my fair share of headaches. I've never had this problem with any of my other birth controls, and I was being called out by my boyfriend about the issue. I'm working with my doctor right now to switch to something else. I guess the levonorgestrel hormone combination was just not for me."

"I've been on Aviane for about a month now. I haven't noticed any mood swings, but my breasts did get a little bit bigger, and I have gained weight! I'm not enjoying that part. I've been working out regularly for about two weeks now, and my diet is very healthy for the majority of the time, but I can't seem to lose that weight! I haven't noticed a change in my sex drive. I think headaches may come more frequently, and I am often tired, but I believe that part is because I need to get to bed earlier. So, besides the weight gain, Aviane is good."

For Endometriosis "I've been on many medicines since I found out I had endometriosis back in 2010. I've gone through six surgeries and nearly every medication out there, including IDUS, Nuva Rings, Implanon, birth control pills, shots, etc. I've been on Aviane now for seven weeks; I have bled my first three weeks into it, had two weeks of spotting, and now back to bleeding again. I have much faith that the doctor assures me that this medicine takes time to kick in. Over the last three weeks, I have gotten headaches, sick to my stomach, bleeding, odd rashes on legs/leg pain. These are very minor side effects compared to some other things I've tried. Holding out hope that this works. My opinion is everyone should give it a try. Side effects are minor compared to most."

For Birth Control "I began taking this birth control about 7 months ago. Upon taking it during the first month, I experienced severe nausea, headaches, and a heavy period with the worst cramps I have ever had. Each month alternates with irregular bleeding (getting my period before the placebo pill week) with cramps, which might be due to a wrong prescription. I have gained 7 pounds despite doing CrossFit 4 times a week, retaining fat around my midsection. Also, I have been moody, anxious, and have had continuous night sweats and headaches. I will be getting off of this pill ASAP after realizing that this medication is not worth the horrible side effects. I keep giving it another month to see if it will get better, but it hasn't."

For Birth Control "So far, I've noticed hair loss, which my doctor told me will eventually go away, headaches only in the morning and before bedtime, mood swings. I'm normally very confident, but I've been depressed, and my skin has been so itchy I can't stand it. Been on for almost 3 months now, itching is increasingly getting worse for me."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane (ethinylestradiol 20 mcg and levonorgestrel 100 mcg) for about a year and a half. Haven't identified any side effects apart from headaches and less lubrication during intimacy, and have not gotten pregnant. Doesn't work too well for skipping the placebo week and skipping your period, I usually begin to breakthrough bleed at the end of week 4. I was on Levest (ethinylestradiol 30 mcg and levonorgestrel 150 mcg), which was a bigger dose of both hormones prior to this and liked it better (less of those side effects mentioned above and easier to skip periods), but they do not have it in the US. No breakouts or weight gain, my skin probably got better. (The generic for Levest is Nordette 28 or Marlissa)"

For Birth Control "My experience on this medication was awful. For the first week, I felt sick to my stomach, which I understand is a fairly common side effect. But then I developed a really horrible headache that felt similar to a low-grade migraine, and vomited up everything that I tried to eat. The headache and vomiting lasted for about a day, and I discontinued the pill immediately. My symptoms subsided, and thankfully I feel much better now that this drug isn't in my system anymore."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for almost 3 weeks now. So far, I've had nothing but bad things. Sore breasts, headaches, bad acne. Now I'm on my period, but the thing is, I'm on day 5. I usually only bleed for 4 days, usually three light days, then one heavy. I've been through two heavy days. I feel like I'm going to bleed to death. I had the worst cramps yesterday. I really hope I stop bleeding soon."
