For Birth Control "I've been on various birth control pills for ten years. We all know they can come with risks of a slew of symptoms we try to decide are tolerable or not. Aviane was the only birth control pill I felt normal on. I always skip the placebo week to avoid horrible, painful periods. Never got pregnant or had a scare. Overall, I really loved this medication, but I was switched to Falmina by my pharmacy for whatever reason."

For Birth Control "I've used Aviane for about 5 months now. I switched from Tri-Cyclen Lo (great skin, bigger boobs BUT cramps) to Aviane because my cramps were so bad. My cramps did disappear, I did not gain weight, and I had an increase in sex drive, however, my skin got terrible! So bad that I'm thinking about going back on Tri-Cyclen Lo and dealing with cramps, or switching to Yaz, which my gyno recommended! Every birth control affects everyone differently, so reading reviews may not tell you how it will affect you. I'd say ask your doctor and try whatever they offer out!"

For Birth Control "I gave it exactly a year. I'm giving it up because 1. I'm seemingly too busy to have sex and 2. Too busy to remember to take them. I noticed my hair thinning out in the first few months, but my skin was a lot clearer. My cramps went away and my period became shorter and lighter. I'm naturally very small, but have been able to gain weight before (though slowly). Since being on the pill, I've been dropping pounds that I can't afford to. Mood swings were not as bad on this pill as when I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I think I'm going to take a break and see how my body reacts."

For Birth Control "I am 23 years of age, and this is the first BCP I was put on to treat my severe cramps. The first week of taking it, I was extremely nauseous, but that was the only side effect I noticed. Until my third week, in 10 days before my period, I started getting dark discharge heavily for a week. On top of that, I experienced cramps that weren't as painful as they usually are, but still enough pain for me to feel uncomfortable and notice them. My skin also broke out really badly, which was the worst side effect of them all since I had clear skin when I started. I'm not sure whether I want to continue into my second month to see if it will improve or switch altogether. My impression of it at the moment is it hasn't done much good for me."

For Birth Control "I barely started taking this birth control 2 weeks ago exactly. The first week I was fine, however, in the 2nd week of taking them, I got my period. I have been bleeding heavily the entire week. I normally have my period for about 5 days, 3 heavy days and 2 light days, with minimal cramps, however, this period has been going on for about 7 days now, bleeding heavily the entire time. My breasts are in excruciating pain (my breasts normally hurt before I start my period, not during my period). I have been so tired, sleeping by 9 pm. I have had the worst cramps, dizziness, some headaches, and I haven't had an appetite. I'm going to finish the birth control for the next 3 months and hope that things get better."

For Ovarian Cysts "I started taking this pill about a month and a half ago and have had nothing but problems. I started taking it in the morning when I would be getting ready for work, then get sick about halfway through the day. So I decided to take it at night, and I wake up at night and get sick from it. Also, my first period on it lasted 10 days. I'm on day 7 of the current one. I have horrible mood swings and cramps, which I have never had a problem with before."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking the Aviane pill for a month. I’ve taken Lessina and Lutera before and never had any issues like the ones I’ve had on this pill. I experienced anxiety for the first two weeks that eventually went away. My skin has cleared up, however, I still get about two breakouts here and there. My first cycle was completely fine, except it ended up being longer than what my cycle usually is. I did spot during the second week and then three days before my second expected cycle. My second cycle right now hit me like a wrecking ball. My cramps are so bad, and I’m sick to my stomach. I have a headache, backache, and bad nausea. I’m also really emotional and cried a couple of times, which is not normal for me. This is the second day where I’m feeling this way, and it’s definitely not worth me continuing to take this pill. I’m going to look into another pill because I’ve never had this many side effects before."

For Birth Control "I have had irregular periods for years. I would come on and then wouldn't see a period for months and months at a time until my doctor recommended Aviane. On week 4, 3rd day, I came on. After not having a period for a year, I really love this birth control. No mood swings, light period, and mild cramps. Will continue to use it."

For Birth Control "I first started off with Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I had heavy periods, and for the first 3 months, I almost fainted every day. Then I switched to Lutera, and I got a migraine every day. I had bad cramps but a very light period. Then I switched to Aviane. I haven't had a single migraine, and I still have very short light periods that last about 2-3 days. Just awesome."

For Birth Control "I've been on this Aviane pill for about 1.5-2 years now, and nothing had changed other than my period is regulated. My flow is extremely heavy for the first couple of days. My period usually lasts 5 days. I have really bad cramps to the point where I can't concentrate on what I am doing. My acne went away, and my face is pretty clear, but that's the only good thing. I am trying another birth control next month to see if it will make it lighter and have fewer symptoms. Aviane 28 isn't that bad, and I will switch back if the other pill does not work out for me."

For Birth Control "Started when I was 22, now almost 25. When I first started, I would bleed lightly for about a month. After a while, cramps weren't so bad. I'd have a few lighter ones the week before my period and during and after. Not like the extreme ones I had before where I wanted to die. Definitely worked in preventing pregnancy, even without using condoms unless it's the week of placebo pills. I used to be very small, a size 0 (24 inch) pants, I was probably a size 1 or 3 when I started the pill. Now I'm a size 10 (30 inch) pants, or bigger. I can't fit into any jeans. I've questioned whether I'm pregnant multiple times because of the weight, but I've taken tests that came out negative. Three months in a row I didn't get my period. Emotional, bad mood swings."

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for about a year now and have to say not too bad. Was switched to this from Lutera from the pharmacy, not continuing Lutera. No acne or weight gain problems, but did see a change in mood. Almost like my temper was more short-fused and I got angry more easily. Period is regular for the most part, but sometimes I have bleeding while on active pills, and it lasts forever. Also, before getting on birth control, I rarely had cramps. Now I get them with every period, and they’re really uncomfortable. I’m sexually active, so that’s why I continue to take the pill, and no scares thus far."

For Birth Control "I switched brands to Aviane. I have been taking this for three months now. The first two months were awful. My symptoms were synonymous with pregnancy symptoms, and I even had to take a pregnancy test. I had spotting, awful cramps, weight gain, breakouts, breast tenderness, morning sickness, fatigue, mood swings, and even depression. Now, things are starting to get better. I only get headaches occasionally, painful cramping, and breast tenderness. My skin has completely cleared up, much to my surprise. I am iffy about this brand of birth control. I'm going to continue for a couple more months, and if things get better, I will stay on it, and if things worsen again, I am going to switch."

"I just started using Aviane about 2 weeks ago. I noticed that my breasts feel a bit heavier (which may be a good thing for a small girl like me), but I do notice that I am slightly aggravated at very minor things (mood swings). Slight cramping here and there, but nothing too bad. I also feel a bit bloated during the evening, and my appetite has changed. However, this could all be in my head because no one else has noticed any physical changes. So I guess, so far so good."

For Birth Control "My doctor prescribed me Alesse and gave me a 3-month sample to try it out, and I was happy with it, so I went and picked up the prescription, but the pharmacy gave me Aviane because it was covered by my health insurance. I didn't think twice about it. After a month or two, during my second week of pills, I started getting really bad cramping and back aches, and I had to have frequent bowel movements (mostly in the middle of the night and the morning and took forever). I thought that because I had ovarian cysts before and this felt like them, it could be them again. I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago, and he said that there were no cysts and that it is probable that the Aviane is messing up my bowels. He wrote me a new script requesting not to give me Aviane."

For Birth Control "I've started this pill 3 weeks ago, and I've had a headache the first three days, and at the end of the first week, I had really bad cramps that I never had before. It lasted an hour. I did have some mood swings where I would just break into tears, but after that first week, I haven't had any pains or mood swings. My skin did change, and I am breaking out, but it doesn't really bother me. I've always had bad skin. This is the first time I have been on any sort of birth control, and so far so good. I just got my period, so I'm not pregnant. I take it first thing in the morning with water and never got nausea. Oh, and my weight hasn't changed. Yay!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 2 and a half weeks and have been extremely emotional, had breakthrough bleeding for almost a week now, and have bad cramps and bloating. I have seen most people say that it gets better after the first few months, so I'm crossing my fingers."

For Birth Control "I just started my 3rd week of active pills yesterday, and so far, so good. Before Aviane, I was on the Depo shot for a little over 2 years, and I had so many problems and was miserable. So far, I've had nothing serious: a little bit of breast tenderness, a few cramps. My sex drive has definitely increased from what it used to be. I take my pill at night but haven't really had any nausea. Going on my 3rd week, I sort of feel like PMS symptoms, but it could also be stress. Hard to tell. Overall, I'm happy with this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about a month now, and I really like it. I've had very little breakthrough bleeding, but I did experience some strange cramping. Also, it's my first week of the placebo pills, but I haven't gotten my period yet. Not sure if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced this."

For Birth Control "I began taking this birth control about 7 months ago. Upon taking it during the first month, I experienced severe nausea, headaches, and a heavy period with the worst cramps I have ever had. Each month alternates with irregular bleeding (getting my period before the placebo pill week) with cramps, which might be due to a wrong prescription. I have gained 7 pounds despite doing CrossFit 4 times a week, retaining fat around my midsection. Also, I have been moody, anxious, and have had continuous night sweats and headaches. I will be getting off of this pill ASAP after realizing that this medication is not worth the horrible side effects. I keep giving it another month to see if it will get better, but it hasn't."

For Endometriosis "I took this birth control for 7 months, hoping to manage my unbearably painful periods. The first couple of months seemed okay. Periods were still painful but a bit more tolerable. By the 4th or 5th month, periods became irregular. I started spotting throughout my cycle, despite taking the pill religiously at the same time each day. Wish it would have worked better for me!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for a little under a month now, and I'm 19. This is my first birth control. I've never had acne and have started breaking out. The first week I had severe nausea, fatigue, and cramps, the second week was fine aside from general moodiness, and then the first day of the third week I got my period and am now on day 9 of bleeding. I started birth control to shorten the absurd length of my period due to my extremely busy schedule, but this birth control has given me a lighter but no shorter period, extreme fatigue, and a mean/cranky demeanor."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for almost 3 weeks now. So far, I've had nothing but bad things. Sore breasts, headaches, bad acne. Now I'm on my period, but the thing is, I'm on day 5. I usually only bleed for 4 days, usually three light days, then one heavy. I've been through two heavy days. I feel like I'm going to bleed to death. I had the worst cramps yesterday. I really hope I stop bleeding soon."

For Birth Control "This was my very first birth control that I ever had. I got it when I was 15 years old. At first I loved it because I went from having very irregular periods to having them right on time every month. However, by year two I was having panic attacks, mind-boggling depression, horrible break-outs, and titanic cramps. I switched to Yaz and all went well for a year. I am currently on Seasonique, which except for the slightly less sex drive, is AMAZING."

For Birth Control "This pill made me crazy. My emotions were very unpleasant. I suffered from mild depression and overall stress and anxiety. This pill also made me gain a bit of weight, along with more serious period pain."
