For Birth Control "I began this medicine because I had trouble with regulating my cycle. Biggest mistake ever! I have been bleeding nonstop going on three weeks, and the cramps and abdominal pain are unreal. I couldn't even finish a whole month because of the side effects. I do not recommend this product at all."

For Birth Control "This pill had no side effects, didn't make me break out or get bigger breasts, but it did make my cramps five times more painful than they normally are. I got two periods a month even after being on it for six months. I'm giving it a somewhat good review because it did not get me pregnant."

For Birth Control "I was on another birth control for over a year, and it was fine, but it gave me too much depression. I switched to the Aviane, and the past two months haven’t been that great. My acne is the worst it has ever been in my life. I had some really bad periods in the beginning. The worst part for me is that the Aviane has caused me to gain ten pounds in two months. I’ve weighed the same weight for the past three years. My mood has improved significantly on this pill, but I hate my appearance so much now I don’t know if it’s worth it. I kind of want to quit hormonal birth control altogether now, it’s been a tough experience."

For Birth Control "I really want to switch pills, I was on another pill, and I had pleasant results. My pharmacy prescribed me this one because they didn't have the other in stock. It has been awful. My period lasts 3-4 days with no cramping usually, but on Aviane, it has lasted 7 days, and it's super heavy with cramps. I've been irritable and yelling even about the smallest things. I cry over every little thing that happens to me."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for about 2 months now, and I can already see a difference in my flow, it's getting a lot lighter, and I had very bad cramps before, and now I have none at all. Also, this pill didn't cause me to gain any weight, my weight has stayed the same and has even gone down a few pounds, but I'm not sure if it's because of the pill."

For Birth Control "I am 24 and have been on the pill for 3 weeks. I have experienced heavy breakthrough bleeding during week 3, with painful cramping as well. My skin has broken out substantially, and I have an increased need to sleep. Mood swings are minimal, but are nonetheless still there. I hope this is just my body adjusting, as it is my first time on the pill."

For Birth Control "I took Aviane for only 10 days, but in that time I gained a bit of weight, had severe migraines almost every day, spotting, and severe nausea. I have migraines triggered easily normally, but this was ridiculous. I woke up one morning and almost threw up because I constantly felt so sick. On day 11, before I could even take my next pill, I started my period very heavily with very painful cramps - I wasn't supposed to start for another 2 1/2 weeks (this is what I was put on the pill to control)."

For Birth Control "This is the second type of birth control pill that I've been testing out. The first one that I was on gave me severe headaches practically every day. Luckily, with Aviane, my headaches are gone. This is my 3rd month on Aviane, and it's been okay. I've been having breakthrough bleeding and a few pimples here and there whenever I am about to start my period. Also, whenever I am about to start my period, I get depressed, and I get really bad cramps. I am most likely going to switch to a different pill. Hopefully, I find one that's right for me."

For Birth Control "Let me start off by saying that everyone's experience is different, and we all use birth control for different reasons. I'm not sexually active, but I use birth control for my acne and excruciating periods. My periods were so bad previously that I've fainted before at work. Aviane has been a lifesaver. I skip the placebo week and haven't experienced any breakthrough bleeding or cramps. I can finally work out without having to worry about being on bed rest due to my cramps. My skin used to break out in giant cysts every month, and now my skin is clear as day. I get so many compliments on my skin now. Remember that this is a low dose of birth control, so the side effects shouldn't be as bad as other prescribed pills. I can't speak to the effectiveness of preventing pregnancy, but this has been a game changer for my skin and body in general. Would HIGHLY recommend."

For Birth Control "I started taking Aviane when I was 16 1/2, and I've been on it ever since. I'm now 21 and about to discontinue my use of Aviane. It caused me to be emotional almost all the time. I have very little patience, mood swings, I gained weight, it's tough to lose weight, I have constant headaches, and my acne is horrible to the point of scarring. Since I was taking this birth control through the toughest of teenage years, I just thought this was who I became. But after doing research and finding this website, I now know I'm not the only one who has suffered through taking Aviane. It did its job with preventing pregnancy, but didn't help with my heavy period and painful cramps. I'm finishing my current pack, and it'll be my last."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Aviane for almost three months, and I love it. I started it because I was having weird on-and-off periods, and my doctor suggested I start taking it. The first month, I only had minor side effects, which were very tender breasts and cramping, but it regulated my period, and that's what I love about it so much! I admit that my breasts have grown a cup size, but I have not gained any weight or mood swings. The only thing that is persistent is my tender breasts, but my period is normal, and Aviane is great!"

For Birth Control "I have never felt so depressed as I am now while on this birth control. I am usually a very happy person, but these pills have turned me into an emotional, moody, and easily agitated woman. I have been on it for 5 months and decided to stop it today. In addition to my uncontrollable emotions, this pill has caused severe migraines to the point of vomiting, an increase in acne, sleep deprivation, and lack of motivation. My periods are still heavy, and I do still experience the same amount of cramping I did when I was not on any birth control. My periods are also still not regulated; some months I have skipped it completely. I am hoping that these side effects don't last after discontinuing the pill, as I've read on many other reviews."

For Birth Control "I have been on 3 different birth control pills in 3 years, and I have to say Aviane is the best. The other two were Ortho and Loestrin, and they were both horrible for me. I was moody, crying all the time, angry, always hungry, had bad cramping, and was depressed. I asked to be put back on Aviane. It's been a week, and I've noticed a dramatic difference. I'm so much more pleasant to be around, and I'm hardly ever hungry. The last time I was on Aviane, I lost around 20 pounds in a year. Plus, no cramps!"

For Ovarian Cysts "I have been on Aviane for 2 months now going on three. Within the first month, I've experienced headaches, depression, mood swings, severe cramping, and bloating, as well as stomach gain (which went down). All of those symptoms went away by the second month of taking this pill, which I've experienced lighter periods. I still have mood swings and get depressed at times, but I have very bad breakouts all over my face, chin, and neck, as well as black marks on my forehead. I've always had acne, but I've never experienced it this badly. I will continue to take it for the 3rd and 4th month just to see if anything gets better, and I will keep you posted."

For Birth Control "I started Aviane 2 months ago. My 1st month, in my third week, I started cramping. I started spotting the day before my placebo pill, which was followed by extremely agonizing pain in my stomach and pelvic area. Nothing helped take the pain away (heating pad, Pamprin, Percocet, peppermint tea, hot bath, stretching, etc.). For 3 days I had spotting, and then it was like the floodgates opened on the 4th day. Every hour I was changing a super tampon and pad because the bleeding was that bad, still with the horrible pain. My period this month is now doing the same thing with the horrible pain. My doctor is switching my pills, so hopefully I don't experience this pain again. It's truly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!"

For Birth Control "I originally started taking Aviane about 7 months ago because I had pretty bad acne. After about 2 months on this pill, my face had cleared up completely. I would get maybe one or two little pimples about two days before my period would come, but other than that I had nothing (which was really nice for me since I've been struggling with acne since the 7th grade). Besides that, I had no weight gain, no cramps. My period was a little irregular for the first couple of months, but it got regulated, and they are great, light, and only 3 days. I have tried other birth control pills, including Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Mononessa, and Previfem, but this one by far has worked the best for me."

For Birth Control "I started Aviane 5 months ago for birth control. For the first 3 months, my periods were irregular, but now occur during the placebo week. I've experienced slight mood swings, less period cramps, and an increase in cup size(s). My acne and weight have stayed the same. Overall, recommend!"

For Birth Control "This pill is kind of iffy. It made my cramps worse, and I didn’t notice a significant reduction in the amount of bleeding during my period. It also caused me extreme anxiety and depression. I started having full panic attacks and depressive episodes that I have never experienced before, especially during the third week of pills. Other than that, I know that seems like almost all negatives. I didn’t notice much of a change in my weight or any other kind of thing like that. It’s effective in its use to prevent pregnancy, which is most important for me."

I started with NuvaRing because it had the lowest estrogen, but I HATED it: I could feel it inside and within a few days, I had thick white discharge. Aviane has been great so far. I'm almost done with the first 3 weeks, and in the last week, I've had minor cramping and a little bit of spotting, but nothing I haven't been able to handle with no painkillers. Other than that, no side effects - if anything, my sex drive might be a little better. So far, so good!"

For Ovarian Cysts "I was switched to this generic after being on many others, including the same Rx formula and other formulas in the past. This was by far the worst pill I've ever taken as far as being ineffective for hormone control. My ovarian cysts returned, I had more painful periods, acne, bloating, mood swings, and the feeling of not wanting to be near or touched by anyone. Once I was back on my previous brand of generic for 2 months, I stabilized completely again."

For Birth Control "Back again for an update, and I must say I hate this birth control now. I’ve been on it for 7 months, and I have bled 3 weeks a month since I started this pill. I’m always sleepy, my moods are terrible, I’m constantly irritated and rarely ever happy, and I wasn’t like this until I started this BC. I completely stopped having acne and haven’t had any pregnancy scares, obviously since I’m constantly bleeding. I was previously on Lutera, but I got switched to Aviane because Lutera is no longer in pharmacies. Moral of the story, I am getting off of this birth control. I can’t take the constant bleeding and cramping for 3 weeks straight."

For Birth Control "This pill works wonderfully for me! Only 'negative' is about 5 lbs of weight gain. Otherwise, clears my skin, makes skin not oily (face, back, chest), lessens oil on my scalp (hair never gets greasy), reduces body odor, balances mood, cramps are moderate and only for 1 day during my period that is very short (2-4 days) and very light. Went off it once for about 6-8 months: hated it. Back on - great experience on this pill for me."

For Birth Control "I initially wanted an IUD, but went on the pill so I could manipulate my period so I wouldn’t be on my period for my honeymoon. I had horrible breakthrough bleeding on my wedding day and whole honeymoon, so that whole point was moot. The absolute worst part is that I have had severe anxiety and paranoia, something I have never experienced before. I am constantly in fear of horrible things happening, it is so severe it is affecting my quality of life. I can barely walk outside by myself without going into full panic mode. This all started shortly after starting Aviane, there has been no other factor that would cause this. I have insane mood swings, extreme irritability, nausea, my chest went from a D to a DDD in the first month, I got cystic acne the first few months, and I still get bad cramps during my period. I made an appointment to switch to a copper IUD, I can’t handle the hormones."
