For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience with this pill. I've never had trouble with my weight, but I gained 20 lbs once I started taking this. Terrible, uncontrollable acne. Would always have breakthrough bleeding. Ruined my sex drive. My breasts did increase from a C to a D, though."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My doctor told me that I can skip the placebo pills for years on Aviane. I took the pills for 2 months, skipping the placebo pills. On the third pack, I started bleeding. It's been three weeks, and it's not stopping. I called my doctor, who said it's normal for birth control in the beginning to bleed here and there, but I'm thinking that it's just messing me up hormonally because this is not stopping. I do not recommend it, as I believe I need to get off this to regain my hormonal balance. I was not on birth control for years. I was using spermicide that worked for me but was annoying to always have it available. I was dreaming that I could get away with periods by being on this, but I guess no such luck."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Aviane birth control for a month now, and so far, so good. I had to switch birth controls because my last birth control caused me to have breakthrough bleeding almost every other week. It was horrible. But now I am no longer having that problem, no skin problems, no weight gain, and no mood swings. I just hope it stays this way."

For Birth Control "I have been using Aviane for 4 months now. When I first started, I had my period twice that month. They said it was just breakthrough bleeding, but I am still having 2 periods a month. I have horrible headaches, and I get moody right around the time I start my period(s). I am not able to lose weight, and I've had a decrease in sex drive. However, my skin is great!"

For Birth Control "I started Aviane 2 months ago. My 1st month, in my third week, I started cramping. I started spotting the day before my placebo pill, which was followed by extremely agonizing pain in my stomach and pelvic area. Nothing helped take the pain away (heating pad, Pamprin, Percocet, peppermint tea, hot bath, stretching, etc.). For 3 days I had spotting, and then it was like the floodgates opened on the 4th day. Every hour I was changing a super tampon and pad because the bleeding was that bad, still with the horrible pain. My period this month is now doing the same thing with the horrible pain. My doctor is switching my pills, so hopefully I don't experience this pain again. It's truly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!"

For Birth Control "I made a previous post right after I started Aviane. Now I'm a month in and back to review how things are going. I've been spotting since day 3. I've been trying to live with it in hopes things will get better, but 3+ weeks of this is really wearing on me. My mood has been normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, except some obvious frustrations regarding constant bleeding. Sex drive (which has been an issue on previous pills) is good. I'd say it's the same as without the pill. I've been having more breakouts. A couple of huge, painful zits that won't seem to go away. I've never had issues with zits much at all before, but not a huge deal. I may be slightly more bloated and hungry than before I was on the pill, but nothing major."

For Birth Control "Not impressed so far. Nearing the end of pack 2. My sex drive has CRASHED, when I do get aroused, I barely get wet. My appetite fluctuates badly, my anxiety is all over the place. I started bleeding over a week ago (8-9 days before my period was due) and have been randomly bleeding since. I'll give it one more month, but I'm talking to my doc at my next appointment. I had zero issues with my previous brand, but it was sadly discontinued."

For Birth Control "I switched from Lo Loestrin to Aviane and absolutely love it. On my other birth control, I was constantly bleeding and felt bloated all the time. I have not gained any weight on Aviane, and I have no mood swings, and I have a lighter period!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Aviane for the past three months, and I have to say I’m really liking it! The first month, however, I was extremely bloated every day and had gas. My acne broke out a little as well, but it cleared up. Also, the week before my period, I have breakthrough bleeding. But now I don’t have either, and my moods have actually been really positive, as well as my skin being really clear. And as a sexually active person, I definitely feel protected and can confirm it works extremely well when taken at the exact time every day. So overall, I would recommend this BC for anyone wanting to regulate their period or be protected from pregnancy."

For Birth Control "Back again for an update, and I must say I hate this birth control now. I’ve been on it for 7 months, and I have bled 3 weeks a month since I started this pill. I’m always sleepy, my moods are terrible, I’m constantly irritated and rarely ever happy, and I wasn’t like this until I started this BC. I completely stopped having acne and haven’t had any pregnancy scares, obviously since I’m constantly bleeding. I was previously on Lutera, but I got switched to Aviane because Lutera is no longer in pharmacies. Moral of the story, I am getting off of this birth control. I can’t take the constant bleeding and cramping for 3 weeks straight."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started this pill 2 months ago, and the first month went smoothly, no issues, however, this month is another story. This month I got my period a week before the sugar pills were supposed to start, and it wasn't super light or super heavy until about the 6th of the period, when basically all hell broke loose. For the 6th to the 13th day of my period, it was full-on blood clots as large as the tampons, excessive bleeding, using 10-15 tampons per day, needing to change pads at least twice a night. I was getting lightheaded and weak/tired. Worst experience I've ever had. I went on the pill to fix my irregular bleeding, but instead, it made it 100 times worse than it was before. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I initially wanted an IUD, but went on the pill so I could manipulate my period so I wouldn’t be on my period for my honeymoon. I had horrible breakthrough bleeding on my wedding day and whole honeymoon, so that whole point was moot. The absolute worst part is that I have had severe anxiety and paranoia, something I have never experienced before. I am constantly in fear of horrible things happening, it is so severe it is affecting my quality of life. I can barely walk outside by myself without going into full panic mode. This all started shortly after starting Aviane, there has been no other factor that would cause this. I have insane mood swings, extreme irritability, nausea, my chest went from a D to a DDD in the first month, I got cystic acne the first few months, and I still get bad cramps during my period. I made an appointment to switch to a copper IUD, I can’t handle the hormones."

For Birth Control "At first, this pill was fine. I have been on it for 8 weeks. So far, I have gotten breakthrough bleeding, mood swings, and now I am getting slight acne on my cheeks (I never have acne). I also was experiencing vaginal burning and tenderness that has seemed to subside. I was really hoping that if I pressed through, this would go away. But I'm getting married in 6 weeks! I'm really hoping these side effects calm down."

For Birth Control "I’m on my second month of Aviane and can’t say enough good things! I was very nervous to get on birth control pills for my first time, but this pill has been a breeze. I take it every night at 10 before I go to bed and have had no side effects whatsoever. My boobs have gotten a little bit bigger, but that’s nothing to complain about, haha. My only slight complaint was that three days before I was supposed to start my placebo week, I started having some breakthrough bleeding for a few days, then had my actual “period” during my placebo week, so it was about 8 days of bleeding, which sucked, but the bleeding stopped and I haven’t had any other spotting at all. I really can’t say enough good things about this pill! I know everyone’s body is different, but I really recommend this to first-time pill users. Just an extra thing is that I use the Pill Club and don’t have insurance, and this is $50 for a 3-month supply, super affordable in my opinion."

For Ovarian Cysts "I have been taking this drug for 4 weeks so far, and I am highly disappointed. I have an ovary cyst, and I need to block my period completely for several months to see what is happening (the cyst is growing with each period). Instead, 19 days after my last period, I got slight bleeding, then it got worse, and right now I am having almost 10 days of light bleeding while taking this without a break. I paid $45 for it. I have never paid this high amount for 3 X 21 birth control pills."

For Birth Control "I barely started taking this birth control 2 weeks ago exactly. The first week I was fine, however, in the 2nd week of taking them, I got my period. I have been bleeding heavily the entire week. I normally have my period for about 5 days, 3 heavy days and 2 light days, with minimal cramps, however, this period has been going on for about 7 days now, bleeding heavily the entire time. My breasts are in excruciating pain (my breasts normally hurt before I start my period, not during my period). I have been so tired, sleeping by 9 pm. I have had the worst cramps, dizziness, some headaches, and I haven't had an appetite. I'm going to finish the birth control for the next 3 months and hope that things get better."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about a year, and I have had a lot of breakthrough bleeding. My period is not predictable like it is on most birth controls. I just called my doctor to get put on something else. I also got pretty bad headaches while on this birth control."

For Birth Control "I am sure everyone reacts differently to medication, but in my experience, this was the worst decision! I started taking Aviane because, although I loved being on Sprintec, my doc suggested switching to a low-dose pill continuously and prescribed Aviane. I had stomach issues right away, depression, and then bled for 3 weeks straight with no breaks at all. I was told to wait it out because breakthrough bleeding is common at first, but it just felt like something was wrong and I needed to stop. It's been 3 days since I stopped, and I can already feel that my mood has improved! I plan on letting my body return to normal and then seeing if I can try something else in a few months."

For Birth Control "I've only been using Aviane for two months, but in those two months, I've seen great improvement! I switched from a different pill that caused weight gain and loss of libido. There are no libido issues with Aviane, and I'm already down a few pounds. I can take this pill continuously without any breakthrough bleeding or queasiness. It's great."

For Birth Control "I took this pill from 18-25 when I had my first baby. After, I was prescribed a different pill that was just okay. After the birth of my 2nd son, I tried Mirena, and it wasn't in place correctly, so I didn't want to try again. Then, I went to NuvaRing, it was awful! Heavy bleeding on a crazy schedule and hormonal migraines that hadn't existed with other birth control. I am so happy to be back on Aviane, as I have no notable side effects."

For Birth Control "I didn’t experience nausea whatsoever. I did, however, lose my appetite big time. I had dramatic weight loss. I bled for 2 weeks, and it was just dreadful. I never experienced bad cramps. It did its job, but the constant spotting was a no-no for me. I recently changed to a different brand."

For Birth Control "Started when I was 22, now almost 25. When I first started, I would bleed lightly for about a month. After a while, cramps weren't so bad. I'd have a few lighter ones the week before my period and during and after. Not like the extreme ones I had before where I wanted to die. Definitely worked in preventing pregnancy, even without using condoms unless it's the week of placebo pills. I used to be very small, a size 0 (24 inch) pants, I was probably a size 1 or 3 when I started the pill. Now I'm a size 10 (30 inch) pants, or bigger. I can't fit into any jeans. I've questioned whether I'm pregnant multiple times because of the weight, but I've taken tests that came out negative. Three months in a row I didn't get my period. Emotional, bad mood swings."

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for about a year now and have to say not too bad. Was switched to this from Lutera from the pharmacy, not continuing Lutera. No acne or weight gain problems, but did see a change in mood. Almost like my temper was more short-fused and I got angry more easily. Period is regular for the most part, but sometimes I have bleeding while on active pills, and it lasts forever. Also, before getting on birth control, I rarely had cramps. Now I get them with every period, and they’re really uncomfortable. I’m sexually active, so that’s why I continue to take the pill, and no scares thus far."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 10 years and have never experienced breakthrough bleeding or had any problems. I actually have lighter periods and get them on the exact same day and time every month. It is great."
