Ashlyna (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on Ashlyna for 2 years. You have to give it 6 months for the break through bleeding to stop and for your hormones to level out, that's with ANY birth control. I still am currently on it and enjoy it very much. I skip the placebo pills so I don't have a period"

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill once, for about a year then switched & went back on it for insurance purposes. I have no idea why it has taken me so long to look into the birth control being an issue I won’t be taking it anymore. I'm usually a happy person but for the last year I’ve been miserable, nothing makes me happy even if it’s something I would usually be happy about. I'm MOODY so so moody & angry. My sex drive is non existent & I usually enjoy it. I have to hype myself up for sex & really set my self in a mood that goes & quick as it comes. My period pain has increased. I’m constantly bloated. I’ve also been nauseous & chalked it up to a weak stomach but seeing here that might not be the case. I would not recommend this birth control & the reviews have validated me. Thx"

Lybrel (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "The first three weeks were terrible, dizzy, moody, brain fog...you name the side effect; I had it. After 3 weeks I was ready to give up. I would ask my husband everyday what his thoughts were. He knew the yo-yo of emotions my monthly cycle brought, how it effected work, relationships, sleep and parenting. This has CHANGED MY LIFE! The first 12 weeks (yup, 3 full months) I spot bleed everyday. I probably gained a few pounds due to water retention but that's gone. Sex drive was eliminated, it has since resurfaced. All the side effects are now gone, I'm clear minded, level headed and NO emotional rollercoaster each month. No monthly bloating, mood swings or feeling like my blood was boiling. I would do it all again. If you are questioning this or any pill you will want to give it 12 weeks...stinks at times but your body takes time. I've tried every other pill, IUD, antidepressants, no sugar, no caffeine... Etc. I don't get a period anymore."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I signed up for pill club and was prescribed Vienva. It is my first birth control so I immediately went online to look up side effects and reviews. After reading I was scared to death to get my prescription, knowing I can't change it for at least 2-3 months. Reluctantly, I did start taking it as I did read some good reviews. I'm about to start my second month in about a week. I have yet to notice any major side effects. Maybe a tad bit more emotional and faint cramps here and there, but nothing too crazy. The only weight I gained was before I even started the pack and was my own doing. I know it's still early but I think is working well for me. Although I do understand everyone is different and will react differently."

Chateal (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on Chateal for 3 months now and I did not gain weight, nor did I get crazy mood swings. The only thing that happened was my period came at the same time every month and I didn't get pregnant. It works great!"

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I'm a first time user of Lutera and never took any type of birth control in my life, so far I'm on the 4th week of using it and experienced terrible migraine/headache for 2 days which made me skip a pill. I managed to get back on track but have not had any other side effects. I'm really just taking it to help my hair grow, it has grown by a couple of inches. Yes! I have fuller breasts and nice facial skin as well. I have also been able to maintain a well-shaped body with daily exercise (no hunger attacks). "

Larissia (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I’ve been on Larrisa for over two years now, I started taking it when I was 17 because I had horrible periods ever since I started menstruating. I’ve had no side effects of any kind luckily because I know most women struggle to find a good birth control for them. My period has stayed regular and consistent( I track it), I actually lost weight when taking it going from 180 lbs to 140 in about a year, my diet didn’t change and I didn’t do any extra exercise I just lost weight. My periods are much more manageable now then they were before I started taking it, before I started it I had to miss school every month because I would be so sick and nauseous from the cramps. Now while I am on it my cramps can still be pretty bad usually on the first day on my cycle, I am able to still go to work and do my daily activities with some medication to help the pain."

Alesse (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I am in love with this birth control Alesse! It is the first one I have ever taken and I went on it because I would get such bad acne all over my cheeks especially around my period. There was never a time where my skin was clear and when it was better it would still have a bunch of scars until it would get horrible again. In the first week my skin got a little better, there was a little bit of cramping and mood swings but not too bad, in the second week it was breaking out (but not nearly as bad as the worst its been) and then in the 3rd week, almost perfect just scars to heal up. I'm on just over a month and my skin is literally perfect, just a couple scars left to heal and now and they can actually heal because my face isn't going to have another huge breakout the next day anymore!"

Lybrel (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I am SO happy with this pill. I have been on it for around 2 years now and it has made a huge difference for me. I have probably tried around 5 different types before this and all came with side effects (acne, mood swings, depression etc.) The last pill I was on (Microgestin) literally made me insane, I was depressed and crying every day for months. I thought it was just me until someone mentioned it could be my bc. Immediately when I switched I felt my depression lift and have had no mood swings or depression! My sex drive is even back (it was very dead before). I picked this one specifically and asked for it because it has one of the lowest amounts of estrogen than almost any other pill (thus less side effects). If anyone is having insurance problems, ask for Amethyst (it is the brand name for Lybrel) because some companies will only pay for brand name or vice versa. So if it’s not free try switching to generic or brand name! Hope this helped!"

Alesse (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I have been on Alesse for 4 years and am very pleased. Before I was on Alesse I was naturally very moody and my periods were heavy, long, and painful. When I started this pill my mood swings evened out and my period not only got less painful but shortened to only 3 days. I was a little concerned about how quickly I would get pregnant when my husband and I decided it was time but no worries there. I came off the pill New Years 2009 and was pregnant by Valentines. It is now January 2010 and I'm holding a beautiful baby girl. I plan on going back on Alesse as soon as possible."

Jolessa (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "39 YO w/two kids 6 and under. Not planning to have anymore kids. Heavy periods w/clotting & anemia. Dr recommended BC to lighten periods. I also wanted to stop having monthly periods. 1st week on Jolessa I had headaches. 3 weeks in headaches stopped. My skin is clearer. No mood swings. I feel happy but was not prone to depression before. I did feel bloated the first 2 weeks but that has gotten better by week 3, drinking lots of water, exercise & watching calories. No spotting at all. Not having a period for 3 months is improving my quality of life! I had lost nearly 20lbs before the BC. I’m not gaining-working out vigorously and counting calories BUT I do feel like I’m hungrier, craving sweets when I normally don’t and weight loss is slower than before. Overall I’m loving this birth control Jolessa. As far as fitness, it will just motivate me to work harder at working out and monitoring what I eat. I recommend giving it a try. Don’t let negative reviews deter you. I let that stop me for years and suffered."

Lybrel (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on this for a little over a year (it just came on the market in the summer of 2007), and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. No breakthrough bleeding, no spotting, no periods (unless I missed more than a pill, then I had some light spotting). I've had so many problems with other birth controls, ranging from Depo, to the patch, to the ring, to 13 different types of pills, and I finally found one that worked for me!"

Balcoltra (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I was switched to this birth control to help regulate my periods and help with break through bleeding I’ve had with another pill. I haven’t been on this pill for a week and for the first few days I kept telling myself that I need to continue this birth control at least 3 months because maybe my mood will level out. It has not. I have become extremely depressed and unmotivated. I was not struggling with depression before the pill and I was generally in a happy mood. However, I did suffer from depression in my early teen years. I have been on this pill for 5 days and I am already having suicidal thoughts. Because of this, I have decided to quit taking the pills. There is no reason I should have bad thoughts about myself and my body and my existence this much from one pill. It has also made me lose my appetite and I cannot sleep."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "First time ever taking birth control, Vienva 29 year old. No breakouts, no weight gain or mood swings. In the beginning I did experience minor headache but as the months went on, no more headaches. No problems with nausea as well. The only thing I believe my body was still adjusting to the meds because some brown spotting when skipping placebos going straight to my next pack which only happened twice in the first 2 months of using. Other than that everything seems to be working well for me yay. Ladies listen to your body otherwise switch to other brands :)"

Levora (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I never write reviews but I decided to share my experience with everyone on this birth control. I was so freaked out when I got this birth control because I saw all of these horrible reviews, depression, weight gain etc. I have had nothing but an amazing experience on this. I have been happier, my weight is finally staying in one range and not fluctuating, I even lost a few pounds (nothing serious but it did not make me gain). It has really been amazing and I think that if the reviews scare you, just try it. You can always switch. I was terrified but everyone has a different body and reacts differently. You never know, this might be the best thing for you."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Seasonique for over 6 months. I have had continuous spotting along with cramps for the last 16 days. My doctor informed me to skip the pills at the end of the pack so that I do not have any periods due to my periods being extremely painful. However, I hate the fact that I have been spotting for over 2 weeks. I started this birth control to treat endometriosis and to regulate my periods. Yet, spotting every day is not any better. I am looking into other options right now. I don't like bleeding all the time."

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I’ve been on birth control for over 6 years. I started with the depo (did that for 2 years) and stopped because I was bleeding constantly and then I had Skyla (IUD) (I had it for 3 1/2 years) and had no problems but had to get it removed because it wasn’t going to be effective anymore. I decided to give the pill a shot and I started taking Vienva in April of this year and I did notice that I was more emotional and my libido declined a bit. The company that provides me with birth control switched my pills to Lutera. I’ve been taking it for a little over two months and a half and I feel like I’m going insane. I started having irrational dark thoughts and I break down crying all the time. Also, my sex drive has had a huge decline. I’m a mess, I don’t feel like myself, I can’t take it anymore. With all that said I decided to stop taking the pill, yesterday was my last day and I hope I feel back to normal soon. My mental heath is more important."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I read reviews on this birth control Vienva after it was prescribed to me and I was concerned already. I went through The Pill Club and they encouraged me to take it for a short time anyway because everyone has different experiences. Many reviews said that Vienva caused them acne and this is what I was concerned about. For about the first week of taking the pill I got bad headaches soon after taking them but those soon stopped. However, I took them for the recommended 3 months and began to have large, horrible acne. I am used to hormonal acne around my period but with this birth control my skin was getting worse and worse. I decided to stop use all together."

Alesse (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been taking Alesse for 6 years. It's the only birth control I have ever used. And I love it. I've never had problems with it before. My periods are predictable, very light and regular. I don't experience mood swings, or any major cramping on the pill either. It controlled my acne as well. I would suggest Alesse to every girl."

Levora (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've taken Levora, since I was 18, and am now 30. Not once have I noticed any issues except for a slight decrease in my sex drive. No weight gain, no cramps, very little mood swings(but that can be said for all, including men) my period lasts about three days and they are extremely light- to the point it can go unnoticed. I've also had unprotected sex for 11 years with the same man, and not once have I been pregnant, or even a close call. My period arrives at exactly the same time every month like clock work. It makes me feel like a normal human being. I might have one day prior to staring my period, in which I feel a little funky; but it sure beats the alternative! I'd never switch, and if you're unsatisfied, try it!"

Aubra (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "This was the first birth control I ever went on and it worked great. No side effects! No child! After a year (March19’) planned parenthood gave me Aubra EQ. If this happened to anyone else this I would like to know. I was unaware it was different and took it. Immediately I had symptoms such as mood swings, cramping and nausea. I got the worst cramping I’ve ever had. At the end of the month my period did not come. I have taken many test and they say I’m not pregnant but yet I have not gotten my period. PP says they do not carry Aubra anymore just Aunba EQ and according to them it’s the same. But obviously not."

Amethyst (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I tried taking this for birth control for about a month and had light brown discharge/bleeding. I got discouraged and stopped taking it. I restarted taking it and am on my third pack now, I have a little acne and bleeding that’s about every other week, really lightly mostly. I feel good, no mood swings, and not bloated or gassy. I am super optimistic and think it’s starting to adjust now. My breast did hurt for the first two packs pretty bad, but now their very minimally sore, and about 2 sizes bigger, lol! I suggest sticking to it, give it a shot! It takes up to 6 months to adjust to these pills girls, we know that. Don’t be discouraged!"
