For Birth Control "I only had recently started the NuvaRing in late 2019 just before the switch to the generic when it was offered on the market. I found out about the change and took the generic anyway due to what insurance covers and state regulations (if I need a prescription DAW, I need it written as brand DAW per state law). That was back in 2020 when I switched to the generic. I have been on the same generic ever since (this one EluRyng). Just recently, about 2 months ago, I started having severe side effects from my ring. I started cramping, getting back pain, horrible vaginal irritation, and a burning sensation in and outside. My doctor prescribed me some creams, and I thought that it had fixed it. Now, 2 months later, I am having the same problem and am in so much pain all over again. I can’t wait to finish up this month and take it out to see what happens. I am not sure why out of the blue I am feeling this way because I have done everything the same since I started using the ring. Why now?"

For Birth Control "In my normal life, I had some anxiety issues and occasional migraines. Then, I switched from NuvaRing to EluRyng about four years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the cause until just recently because so many of the symptoms seemed related to things I had already experienced. Some totally new things, though, include grand mal seizures (I had never had one before), constant headaches (as in, every single day), a crazy rash that takes over my entire face and lasts for up to 6 months (I ate an extremely restricted diet for 2 months thinking it was candida), passing out at work and waking up in the hospital, flashing lights, intense auras, etc. that have been diagnosed as ocular migraines, vertigo, fatigue, countless other symptoms I probably haven't even considered being connected yet. I remember my life feeling really different, but I just assumed this is what your 30s feel like."

For Birth Control "I was previously on NuvaRing with no issues. I was switched to EluRyng and used it for 1.5 months. Those 1.5 months were absolutely horrible. Within days of switching to EluRyng, I noticed major changes to my mental health. I have never felt so emotionally unstable in my life. I was experiencing constant and intense mood swings, increased anxiety, and depression. Emotional regulation became incredibly difficult. I also noticed my ADHD symptoms were exacerbated too, despite staying on the same dosage of medication (Vyvanse). Some other side effects I had were headaches, nausea, random hot flashes, and cramps. This birth control is awful. The good news is you can go back to being on NuvaRing! Tell your doctor your symptoms and request that they file with insurance to be prescribed NuvaRing again. I have Medicaid, and it took my doctor advocating for me and sharing my symptoms, but I am back on NuvaRing, and it is covered by my insurance again!"

For Birth Control "Been on this medication for literally 4 days, and I’ve been angry ever since the day after I put it in. I have no reason to be angry but feel this strong sense of anger. I’ve been very on edge, going off on people over the smallest things that normally don’t bother me. I’ve also been experiencing heat flashes. Imagine having heat flashes outside in 97-degree weather-the worst. My anxiety has been through the roof, and I’ve been very unhappy. I know it’s the medication because I was perfectly fine 4 days ago. I definitely don’t feel like myself. It’s 12:13 in the morning, and I drove 40 minutes to the only Walgreens in my area with a 24-hour pharmacy to spend $100 on NuvaRing. I couldn’t deal any longer. If you can help it, don’t take this BC method!!"

For Birth Control "I used the brand for approximately 9 years without incident. Insurance changed and have been on generic for about a year without incident EXCEPT: Last month, three days after inserting it, the ring BROKE inside of me. I instantly felt scraping and pain. I got it out right away, but due to my insurance ONLY covering 1 month, had to explain to my pharmacist what happened. He reported it to the company and was kind enough to find a coupon online and ordered me a single one, off of insurance. I paid $44.00 but didn't care, I just wanted to stay on schedule. * I have no idea if that was a fluke or a bad batch. I have noticed with generic: •The ring itself seems to be made with a less pliable material and isn't as easy to insert. It's a different feeling once inserted than the brand. Overall, I don't care for the generic, but insurance won't make an exception."

For Birth Control "I have been using it for about 9 months. Everything was okay except for a monthly week of intense cramps. However, about three months ago, I started breaking down, crying all day, having invasive thoughts. I almost ended my marriage. I took the ring out for almost three weeks, and I was back to normal. I put it back in, and a month later, I found myself ready to commit suicide, unable to get out of bed, no motivation to eat, very irritable."

For Birth Control "I was on this for exactly 4 days. Could not eat anything because my appetite was so damaged, more depressed than I have ever been in my life, extreme mood swings to the point that my housemates told me that I was acting like a completely different person, barely could get out of bed, no longer wanted to do anything, hot flashes, dizziness, low energy, muscle cramps. I started this to help with painful periods, no way is it worth the side effects."

For Birth Control "I once used NuvaRing for three months and had never had any problems with it. It was probably because of insurance coverage that they switched me to EluRyng, with which I had a very bad experience, including unexpected spots over several weeks. Additionally, I had mood swings, constantly felt depressed, and sometimes even had unexplained dark thoughts. I exercise regularly and have always been very healthy. I thought that the above symptoms might be caused by the generic ring. So I started searching online and read about other users' experiences. Once I found that other people also experienced similar symptoms, I took out the ring immediately. The worst part is that the effects from the ring would last for up to five months even after you cease using it."

For Birth Control "I actually had an okay experience with EluRyng. I have been on it for 18 months. I am getting off it next month to try Slynd, a minipill, just because the risk of stroke with combo methods spooks me a bit. It was the first birth control I had ever been on, and I only use it for pregnancy prevention. It has made my previously heavy and painful periods very light and short, and the cramping is very mild. It also cleared the cystic back acne I had. As for side effects, I have put on some weight, and I’d say I am more irritable nowadays, but it’s manageable. I actually got NuvaRing (the name brand) this month because my pharmacy didn't have the generic, and my acne came back immediately. I also am very moody and sad sometimes, and my stomach is so sensitive, I have a lot of nausea. So I think I actually did better on EluRyng than the name brand!"

For Birth Control "I started using the ring directly after taking the pill, and its effectiveness against pregnancy works great. The comfort of the ring while it’s inserted is great as well, as is during sex (my husband didn’t feel it too much). However, I noticed several changes while on the ring, and shortly after stopping it altogether, I confirmed these changes were due to the ring. Weight gain and decreased sex drive were the main concerns. Weight gain was in specific areas where hormones tend to linger, such as under the chin and upper belly, and it was obvious since I was eating healthy and working out daily. The decreased sex drive was incredibly depressing due to lack of feeling down there and just overall desire to do anything. My body simply couldn’t handle these changes, along with other small inconveniences, so I wouldn’t recommend it."

For Birth Control "I was switched to EluRyng after my insurance switched for prescription in November. I was previously on the brand NuvaRing and LOVED it (been on that over 18 months - maybe more). This is only my second month on EluRyng, and I really don't like it. I noticed slight weight gain (which I struggle with, so this was concerning), insane itchiness, and new acne on my upper body, arms, and face. I've never had acne or horrible itchiness/dry skin in these areas before. I have a motility disorder and am constantly watching what I eat, what I do with my body, and my lifestyle. This was the only change, and I can definitively say after reading other reviews that the EluRyng has caused me side effects. I was able to get my doctor to prescribe it again with 'No Substitutions Allowed,' and so far they did not charge me for it after my insurance previously said they would charge $53/month for NuvaRing! This seriously makes me always think twice regarding generics now... It is most certainly NOT the same as the brand NuvaRing!!!"

For Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing for years. It was the only medication that worked to regulate my cycle and stop the heavy bleeding, spotting, and extreme cramps I experienced with my period. As soon as this generic version came out, my insurance stopped covering the NuvaRing, and I was given this. I tried it and felt terrible: nausea, a horrible headache behind my eyes, bloating, cramps, cystic acne, extreme fatigue, and spotting. Unlike others, I’ve lost weight but can’t afford that, as I’m at the bottom of my acceptable weight range. I don’t understand how this medication can even be compared to the name brand when it works this poorly."

For Birth Control "This was prescribed to me after not taking birth control for about 5 years. I was told I was getting the NuvaRing and was given the generic, unbeknownst to me. I didn’t realize until now, doing more research, what a difference there is between the two. Severe breakouts within 2 days… this is after medically treating my skin for over 8 months and clearing up ALL acne. Insane mood swings, crying, intolerance, anxiety. Definitely doesn’t mix right with antidepressants or ADHD medication. I took it out after day 2. I do not recommend it to any women!!"

For Birth Control "I was on the brand name NuvaRing from age 18 to 23, roughly, and had minimal side effects (maybe gained 10 pounds in those 5 years, nothing else) and absolutely loved NuvaRing. I was always thin at 5’10” and between 130-140 pounds max. Fast forward to the EluRyng generic launching and my insurance company switched me automatically. I started taking it, and 6 months in, I was feeling depressed and noticed about 15 pounds of weight gain. I was suspicious it was the generic, but there wasn’t much out there on the internet at the time about side effects of weight gain, and the pharmacist told me it was likely my lifestyle factors changing or something. I started exercising more and being mindful of my eating - and still watched myself gain 40 pounds over the next year to be 180 pounds. My body had so many stretch marks. I got off and am still dealing with depression from it."

For Birth Control "I started EluRyng on 6/29/21, and as of today, 8/3, I decided to discontinue use of this horrible birth control. Just in so little time, I’ve experienced constipation, mood swings, irritable anger outbursts, and acne. Wanted to act up. Absolutely horrible!"

For Birth Control "I used NuvaRing many, many years ago without any issues. I just started this generic version of it about 4 months ago, and the ring broke not once but 2 times. The 2 that broke were in different packs. However, it's not supposed to do that, I don't think. If it happens again, I will definitely go to another kind of birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for about 9+ years now and love it, but since switching brands from NuvaRing to EluRyng, I have had nothing but problems with the ring breaking while I have it in, or getting it and putting it in and breaking. Never had this issue with the name-brand version. Very upset, and it’s very uncomfortable having a birth control break in you, and scary knowing that this is supposed to support preventing pregnancy. Wonder if people that gotten pregnant because the ring breaks!"

For Birth Control "I’ve used NuvaRing in the past and had 0 issues with it. I recently decided to go back to it because the BC pill I was on was causing extreme fatigue. When I picked up my prescription from the pharmacy, I noticed I was given a generic version of NuvaRing. I’ve been through my fair share of different birth controls and have had bad experiences, so I was worried about trying something else once again. EluRyng by far has taken the #1 spot for worst birth control I have ever used. The first month was phenomenal. I had so much more energy, reduced headaches, and the easiest withdrawal week. The day after inserting the new birth control, I started having cramps nonstop, and at one point could barely walk because of how severe the pain was. I’ve had nausea and headaches every single day, which has been interfering with my job and daily life. My depression and anxiety are through the roof. I had to remove it because I couldn’t take the side effects anymore."

For Birth Control "Insurance (or someone?) automatically switched me to the EluRyng from the NuvaRing sometime in 2020. I've never had acne in my life, but over the past few months, it was like I hit puberty all over again. The acne has been all over my body and face, and getting increasingly severe despite my religious skincare routine. Now that I know what's causing it, I'm throwing out my EluRyng. I'd rather be unprotected than take this rubbish. Whoever decided it was okay to switch someone's prescription without telling them needs to be fired."

For Birth Control "I have used Nuvaring for about 4 years and never had any issues. I got off birth control for about 2 years and wanted to do Nuvaring again, but my OBGYN prescribed EluRyng instead. It’s so bad, I had the worst side effects and was spotting for a month straight, so it also affected my sex drive. I only tried it for 2 months, and that was more than enough to never use it again. Beware, ladies, this is not the same formula as Nuvaring."
