For Birth Control "Reading some of the negative reviews... I have to say I had the opposite experience. I felt horrible with the NuvaRing, I had really bad headaches, mood swings, spotting, no sex drive, and felt very tired. I was switched to this by the pharmacy, and I thought I was finally getting used to the NuvaRing until I realized it was a different ring. Now, I’m not going to say there were no side effects with the EluRyng, but they were very mild, just some light spotting, but not as bad as with the NuvaRing. I think people with negative experiences are more likely to write reviews, so I wanted to share my experience."

For Birth Control "My month on EluRyng has been one of the worst of my life. Week 1: nausea/vomiting, fatigue, burning/irritation, and yeast infection. Week 2: severe anxiety and mood swings -- sobbing out of nowhere, massive unprompted panic attacks, and starting crazy fights with my partner. Week 3: severe, acute depression and constant really dark thoughts. Completely numb, crying 24/7, couldn't decide if life was worth living. Week 4: all of my other symptoms disappeared overnight as soon as the withdrawal/off week started. I started feeling back to normal within a day or two, so now I'm absolutely sure that my wild emotional symptoms were entirely caused by the ring. I would not recommend the generic to anyone. My mental health deteriorated shockingly fast and I've never feared for my safety the way I did during the third week. Given other people's similar experiences, I'm counting down the days until EluRyng is recalled so no one else has to go through this."

For Birth Control "DO NOT USE ELURYNG. My pharmacy gave me EluRyng instead of NuvaRing several months ago, and I figured I'd try it. My acne was horrific for the first couple of weeks. And then, I noticed I had some mood swings. The worst part was intense abdominal pain, especially surrounding sex. I thought for sure I had cancer for a minute there. I thought it couldn't be related to the EluRyng since it seemed like it wouldn't do any damage or anything. I took it out a week ago, and I haven't had any pain or mood swings since."

For Birth Control "I have never had such a horrible experience on birth control in my life! The EluRyng made my anxiety go through the roof, extreme nausea, irritable mood swings, my resting heart rate was around 110 bpm, and I started having suicidal thoughts. I thought it was just my anxiety getting worse, but after getting desperate to feel half normal again, I started doing research and realized it was the EluRyng (I don’t take any other medications). This stuff is scary and needs to be recalled ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I was on NuvaRing for about 7 years. 6 months ago, I was informed my insurance no longer pays for NuvaRing, and I was given this generic brand. So far, it’s been horrible. I, for one, started with NuvaRing because it’s so easy to deal with, and it literally got rid of my acne. Since using the generic brand, I get random headaches, mood swings, and guess what? Now I got cystic acne. Ugh, my face looks horrible. I haven’t had acne this bad since I was 16, and I’m 23 now. I called the insurance, and sure enough, they won’t cover the actual NuvaRing. Now I’m making a doctor’s appointment to find a new birth control. I guess I’ll be doing the pill."

For Birth Control "I switched from an IUD to the ring, and I really wish I hadn't. I've been on this ring since April of 2021, and it's now July. I can safely say this birth control is the worst birth control for me. I asked for Nuvaring because I remember really liking it when I tried it about 6 years ago. They gave me this generic, and I've never disliked a BC as intensely as I do this one. My breasts are always sore. Constantly so. I have one mood now, and it's always bad. I'm either depressed and not talking and kind of in a weird zombie state, or I'm just in a general low mood. I have no sex drive anymore. I actually get mad if my boyfriend suggests it, and that's not like me. I've also developed vision issues, terrible back pain, and dark spots on my face that only started after I began taking this medication. I wish I had never touched this, and I'm looking forward to getting another IUD. Last time I'll put synthetic hormones in my body."

"I was on NuvaRing for years to regulate hormones and skip periods due to iron deficiency anemia. I’ve received iron infusions for years, but was able to regulate blood loss and space out my infusions for longer periods of time than normal while on NuvaRing. A few months ago, I was switched to EluRyng because insurance would no longer cover the brand unless deemed medically necessary. Since the switch to generic, I’ve had constant bleeding and spotting, cramps that feel like contractions, I’ve passed blood clots the size of an orange mid-cycle, had severe mood swings, heart palpitations to the point I had a heart monitor for a week, which showed PVCs, over 100 per day, fatigue to the point of tears, and constant hopelessness. I fight with my husband for no reason, and I’m so on edge my children don’t want to be around me. I don’t blame them. I don’t want to be around me either. This is the worst thing I have ever been on. Don’t do it!!"

For Birth Control "I was in tears last week reading all of these comments. I used Nuvaring for 7 years with no issues. In July 2020, I was switched to EluRyng. Never had issues with my period while using it, so didn't connect the issues I've had for over 2 years now to the generic version being different. I shared with a friend last week that I think I'm already in perimenopause at 35 because there's no explanation for all the symptoms I have and all my tests come back normal. I've gained 25 pounds in the last couple of years, and no matter how hard I work out or cut calories, nothing works. I've had the worst extreme fatigue, migraines for days, crazy anxiety, heart palpitations, ZERO libido, leg cramps at night, insomnia, horrible mood swings, depression, dark self-harm thoughts, fogginess, and my vision has changed significantly 3 times in the last year and a half. I took my ring out 8 days ago and already have so much more energy. Getting the hubby snipped and done with this poison!!"

For Birth Control "Awful product. My side effects included: yeast infection, vaginal irritation, painful heavy bleeding (6 weeks), acne on my jawline and ears, anxiety/panic attacks, nausea/vomiting, extreme breast tenderness, insomnia, insane mood swings, self-harm, and depression so severe I almost had to check into inpatient psych care. My relationship almost ended because I went fully nuts. I didn't experience a single positive emotion the entire time I was on this BC. The FDA should take this off the market. DON'T put this in your body."

For Birth Control "I got EluRyng as a substitute for my usual NuvaRing because my pharmacy didn’t have any name-brand. Honestly, so much worse than NuvaRing. I thought they would be somewhat comparable, but EluRyng gave me acne, I was always feeling nauseous, got really bad mood swings, and always had to take it out during sex. Instead of being flexible like NuvaRing, this ring is hard and hurts a lot during sex! I do not recommend unless this is your last resort. Other than the side effects, though, it seems to be as effective as the NuvaRing."

For Birth Control "I was not informed by my insurance about the switch from brand NuvaRing to generic EluRyng. The switch happened in July 2020, and I didn’t think anything of it at first. It’s now the end of November, and I am never touching this trash again. EluRyng NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. In July, leading into August, I began to have rolling vertigo migraines. I didn’t think anything of it at first as I’ve been prone to migraines in the past, and as a teacher, I’m in front of a screen all day, so I wrote it off as a new work from home (WFH) issue. I should have listened to my body. In the months to follow, I began to have painful periods, mood swings, and breast tenderness. End of October and leading into November, I had the heaviest period of my life that is just now coming to an end. I began to think about the factors affecting this change, and everything pointed to one factor: EluRyng. This “medication” is absolute worst. I’m working with my insurance and doctor to get put back on the brand name."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nuvaring for 10+ years. Never any issues. I was switched to the generic (EluRyng), and I have had nothing but issues. Bloating is my #1 complaint but also constipation, mood swings, nausea. At one point, I thought I was pregnant. I will pay full price for Nuvaring if that's what it comes down to. My body can't handle EluRyng!!"

For Birth Control "Honestly, I feel like I got lucky. Maybe it has something to do with me having no prior experience with the NuvaRing. This is my first birth control method, and I'm using the generic. So far, I have only experienced some mild nausea and mood swings, both of which are tolerable. After the first month, my period came in right when I expected it, and there was no spotting at all before the period whatsoever. I can't be too mad, granted it cost me nothing, and it works. But I'm sorry to hear about other women's negative experiences with the NR generic."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using NuvaRing for years, then was forced to switch to this generic version the past couple of months. Let me tell you, avoid it at all costs. I’ve had mood swings x100, spotting the whole time, horrible cramps and headaches. I’ve never had such mixed, dramatic moods in my life. I’ll be blessed if I don’t ruin any relationships I have with anyone. I’m thankful for reviews that are very similar, I feel less crazy, but this generic version is BAD. To top it off, my birthday is next week, no big deal *EYE ROLL*"

For Birth Control "If this would let me give it a zero out of 10, I would! Recently had a hard time getting NuvaRing approved, despite being on it for years. So, I gave this EluRyng a try because I was forced to. I and this thing only lasted 8-9 days. Let me just say that I’ve had the worst migraines, insomnia, fatigue, delirium, and mood swings. The worst was the headaches and migraines for me. It felt like my brain was in knots, definitely fog brain too. No exaggeration, I took it out and felt normal again within 12 hours. This is not it for me. I need my OB/GYN to work a little harder on getting my approval. I refuse to go back on this."

For Birth Control "I am having a great experience with EluRyng! I use it continuously for 28 days to get rid of my period, and within 3 months, my period was gone. No weight gain or mood swings. My acne cleared up as well. I used the Kylenna IUD before the EluRyng and had horrible side effects. My periods were irregular, horrible mood swings, and I had bad cramps. Since I switched, I have felt 100x better. It's easy to use and convenient to change every 28 days. It also comes in a pack of three, so I only have to go to the pharmacy every 3 months."

For Birth Control "Last year, I picked up my birth control, and the packaging looked different. When I looked more closely and saw this was a generic, I was shocked. My doctor had not prescribed it, nor had my insurance company alerted me to any change, but wanting to stay on my schedule, I tried it. This was an absolute mistake. Within days, I was having terrible burning and discharge. As most women do, I decided to power through. This wasn't a good idea because things only got worse. Then came the cramps, back pain, spotting, insane mood swings, and unbelievable weight gain. I gained about 10 lbs in about 6 weeks. That is not normal! Not to mention that all of the symptoms only got worse with time. I was suffering. I went to my gyno and found out that this was an allergic reaction. In addition, my psychiatrist and endocrinologist have all had problems with their patients and EluRyng. I've had to fight my insurance company to get Nuvaring covered."

For Birth Control "Horrible. Be careful using this. After 10 years on NuvaRing, happily loving it, 6 months on EluRyng and I gained 15 pounds, had terrible mood swings, severe depression and suicidal thoughts, anger, overall lack of energy, zero sex drive. My periods were worse than they were off BC. I couldn't figure out what it was that was causing all of this until I figured out it. NuvaRing and EluRyng are not the same and this drug needs to be recalled, it's extremely dangerous. Has anyone had luck getting on NuvaRing again? I saw it was discontinued and my pharmacy no longer has it. I'm so upset."

For Birth Control "I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews on the EluRyng. I know everyone’s experience can be different. I was on the NuvaRing for about 7 months until my insurance switched me to the EluRyng. I’ve been on it for about a year. So far, I had a great experience with it. I didn’t notice any difference from the brand name to the generic, except that the EluRyng is squishier and more flexible. I didn’t get any weight gain or mood swings. No headaches or anxiety. It has cleared my skin and helps knowing when my periods will come. I have the app to remind me. Overall, I give it a 9. I have nothing negative to say about it, except that it’d be nice if it came with an applicator."

For Birth Control "Awful!! Terrible!! I used NuvaRing for an IVF cycle, and since it has gone generic, my insurance doesn’t cover it, so I tried the EluRyng for the latest cycle. I have been feeling very angry with crazy mood swings, depression, and anxiety. I had to take it out because my mental health is severely suffering. I’m also starting to get headaches. I tried to wait it out - after 2 months maybe things would level out, but it just got worse. Big pharma and insurance companies don’t care about women’s health, and unless you do your research and advocate for yourself, they’ll just roll right over you. Would rate 0 if I could. This medication is dangerous."

For Birth Control "Reading through the reviews, I feel what I had been feeling is now validated. I had been on NuvaRing for 10+ years and received the generic one day and didn’t realize it wasn’t the same product. I feel like a monster came out. In 3 months, my period changed, my weight gain was noticeable, but by far the worst side effect was my anxiety, mood swings, and irritability. The change in me was drastic. When I realized it wasn’t NuvaRing, I called my insurance, and they said it wasn’t covered anymore. I paid $177 for NuvaRing just to see if it was me or the generic, and it all cleared up. The fogginess, irritability, and anxiety cleared up in 2 weeks. We opted to completely get off birth control after that. Can’t afford $177/month for NuvaRing even though my doctor said it was “medically necessary.” I have to meet an Rx deductible of $3000 first, so it’s not covered. This is a terrible, terrible generic and by no means should be forced on women."

For Birth Control "I was on EluRyng for 7 months, and I bled 14 to 20 days out of the month. It was absolutely miserable, as I constantly had to use a tampon or pad since it was enough blood to leak through pants but not like a full-blown period. It was usually accompanied by intense itching before the bleeding would start and cramping (usually not too intense but annoying). I was exhausted all the time for basically bleeding 2/3 of the month for 7 months, and found myself having frequent mood swings, including depression and anxiety the first few weeks. I will say that it was convenient to use, as it just remains in the vagina, and my skin and weight didn’t change. I didn’t get pregnant or have any scares, but take that with a grain of salt, as it’s hard to get pregnant when you’re bleeding nonstop. Not the birth control for me."

For Birth Control "I was previously on NuvaRing with no issues. I was switched to EluRyng and used it for 1.5 months. Those 1.5 months were absolutely horrible. Within days of switching to EluRyng, I noticed major changes to my mental health. I have never felt so emotionally unstable in my life. I was experiencing constant and intense mood swings, increased anxiety, and depression. Emotional regulation became incredibly difficult. I also noticed my ADHD symptoms were exacerbated too, despite staying on the same dosage of medication (Vyvanse). Some other side effects I had were headaches, nausea, random hot flashes, and cramps. This birth control is awful. The good news is you can go back to being on NuvaRing! Tell your doctor your symptoms and request that they file with insurance to be prescribed NuvaRing again. I have Medicaid, and it took my doctor advocating for me and sharing my symptoms, but I am back on NuvaRing, and it is covered by my insurance again!"
