For Atrophic Vaginitis "Used either Vagifem, Estrace cream, or Premarin for years. OK at first, but vulvar swelling, burning, itching for the last 3 years, no matter what I used. Worse when I stopped it because atrophic vaginitis came back. Researched - all these products have additives that cause allergic reactions. Insisted on vulvar biopsy - showed hypersensitivity (allergic) reaction! Stopped for a few weeks, sex was more painful. Researched and learned about compounded estrogen in hypoallergenic cream base (VERSABASE). I had an MD write a prescription for Estriol in Versabase, 1 mg/gm and sent it to the compounding pharmacy. I am cured! No atrophic vaginitis, and no allergic reaction! I feel normal for the first time in years. Compare compounding pharmacies as prices vary. Your burning could be from allergy to prescription estrogens!"

Estradiol topical for Atrophic Vaginitis "After 2 years of using BI pellets for HRT, had to choose an alternative and chose Yuvafem. Got Yuvafem but assumed it would work the same. Yuvafem application tool very uncomfortable to insert. About 2 weeks of using this product, had some discharge and itching. Thought - yeast infection and purchased a 3-day OTC. But didn't use it and the next day the symptoms were gone. After 2.5 months of using Yuvafem, recently started noticing what looked like a brownish discharge/spotting. Spoke to an ob-gyn's nurse, decided to wait till Monday and see if it's better. That night I had burning inside my abdomen. All weekend, felt like I had a UTI with abdominal and back pain. Monday, my GP doc did a urine test which was negative. After an additional 24 hours, the culture was still negative for UTI. At that point, started reading reviews about Yuvafem and found many similar stories to what I am experiencing. I will not use this product again and I hope the burning and internal pain go away soon!"

Estradiol topical for Atrophic Vaginitis "Used to help with painful intercourse, but no longer helps. I have a burning, stinging sensation that has gotten worse. Only problem is when I take out the Estring, about 2 weeks later, itching and irritation is back. Is this how menopausal women feel without any help? I do not want to keep using this until I get a second opinion on if it's safe for long-term use. It definitely helps a little. I've been using it for maybe 2 or 3 years."

For Atrophic Urethritis "My script for estradiol cream caused itching and burning, so my urologist recommended using a compound pharmacy. I received my tiny tube and used a pea-sized amount per instructions. It was prepared in a hypoallergenic base and did not contain a preservative. I had instant extreme burning. Unfortunately, it was expensive, and I'll be throwing it out."

Estradiol topical for Atrophic Vaginitis "After the 10 days of the first 14-day regimen of Yuvafem, I experienced soreness, burning, itching, and increased need to urinate, plus greenish discharge. I’m discontinuing immediately. I had the same symptoms when the pharmacy used to substitute generic birth control pills (Chryselle) for name brand pills, so there are obviously problems with the estrogen and/or fillers for both generic products."

Estradiol topical for Atrophic Vaginitis "I did well on Vagifem. Now on Yuvafem, the itching is ridiculous. It does help the vaginitis smell, but I am itching like mad! I thought I wasn’t doing it regularly enough or too much, so I tried both for a month each. Now I am calling the doctor to cancel this prescription. I can’t afford Vagifem right now, but THIS ISN'T WORKING. And yeah, the pills all fall out of the applicator and don’t seem to dissolve well. Plus, so much environmental waste!!"

Estradiol topical for Atrophic Vaginitis "Used Vagifem for many years, then the BIG SWITCH! Yuvafem is awful! I agree about the packaging being non-user friendly, but I learned to deal with it. The main issue for me is how much this product makes me smell 'down there.' Such a strong, pungent odor - ugh! Itching is a problem also. From now on, I will be paying the increased $$ for Vagifem - worth it to me, even though I resent this extreme increase the ins. companies are making us pay!"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I used this estradiol cream for a few months and at first thought it was helping but then had a vaginal discharge that caused severe itching and developed into a fungus outbreak that took several weeks to remedy with medication. I am very concerned after reading the side effects that are irreversible."
