"I've been on this medicine for about 1 year. My platelets are finally up from 1 (yes, I typed 1) to 222! However, my body hurts so bad! My joints, my bones, low back pain, my muscles! Migraines are more frequent, fatigue varies."

"My last entry dated December 17th, 2021. I am no longer taking Promacta due to it no longer working for me. I was admitted to the VA hospital in Puerto Rico on March 17, 2022, with a platelet count of 2000 ppm. I was released on March 23 with a platelet count of 100,000 ppm. My Promacta was changed from 25 mg every other day to 50 mg every day. The following day, I had a lab appointment for my primary care doctor. That evening, my doctor called, telling me to return to the hospital because my platelets had dropped to 20,000 ppm. When I arrived back at the ER, more blood was drawn, and the results were that my platelets had dropped to 6,000 ppm. I am currently still in the hospital with a platelet count of 49,000 ppm. Other treatments that worked before have also failed me or resulted in slow results. It worked for a while, just no longer."

"I have had a very positive experience with Promact. I have been taking it for over a year with no negative side effects. It took a while to find a dosage that will hold my count around 110 to 120. I am currently taking 50 mg a day."

"I just started taking it 2 weeks ago, so far, I have had bouts of nausea in the middle of the day (no diarrhea). I have had headaches, but I'm prone to headaches anyway, so who knows if this caused them. I take it at night to avoid immediate side effects. I don't know if this is why I don't feel sick until hours later? I went for my blood work on Monday, 2 days ago, and my platelets had stayed up to 152, pretty good for me. Not sure if I will continue, if it keeps working it beats going to get blood work EVERY week, once they are stable, I can go in once a month."

"I have lupus and ITP, my platelets are in the range of 0-10k. Promacta was the only drug that raised the platelets to 100k. Then, after one month, I had renal failure and lesions in my brain. It didn’t work for lupus, I guess. :("

"Update for December 17, 2021. On January 18, 2022, my platelet count was 158,000 ppm. But on May 17, 2022, I checked into the VA hospital ER because I saw blood in my spit and blood on toilet paper after wiping. I know it's minor, but at the VA ER in Puerto Rico, they took blood samples and a COVID test. After a while, they came back with the results. The COVID test was negative, that's the good news. Platelet count not so good - 2,000 ppm - I'll be here for 5 days. They gave platelets and got my level to 69,000 ppm. Plus, raised my Promacta from 25 mg (which I was taking every other day) to 50 mg, which will be adjusted if needed. For now, I will not change my rating until I see what happens with the new dose. So, I will be adding results at a later date."

"Been taking Promacta since the start of January 2021. Started out with 50 mg, which raised my platelet count from 11,000 ppm to 409,000 ppm. After finding the right dosage, the doctors have me taking 25 mg every other day. Last platelet count was 105,000 ppm on December 6th, 2021. I am being treated by the VA."

"Bloating of stomach, serious thinning and hair loss, blurred vision with dry eyes and dry mouth. The co-pay got too expensive, and I told the doctor I need to switch to another medication for my low platelets."

"My platelet count was dangerously low. After taking 50 mg Promacta daily, my count was 275 after one month. I have not had any side effects whatsoever. However, I am curious as to why dairy is prohibited for four hours before and after taking medication. The only other negative is the cost. Thank God for insurance help."
