For Birth Control "This birth control pill is a gift. As a migraine with aura sufferer since childhood, I was always prescribed the progesterone-only pill. I just want to first say that everyone complaining of extended bleeding and spotting on this pill and attributing it to this pill should remember that any progesterone-only pill you will spot and bleed for like 4 months when you first start, that's what happened to me when I was first prescribed Micronor in Canada. Then, when I went to the US to visit home, I made my doctor prescribe me this because a birth control method that won't give me a stroke and that I have 12 hours to take is a godsend. It was absolutely wonderful. I had already had my progesterone adjustment period, so this was completely fine. I just wish it wasn't 230 bucks a month and that my insurance covered it because I had to stop because I couldn't afford it. Also, I wish it were available in Canada."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Slynd because I wasn’t a good candidate for an estrogen birth control. I have been on it for about 2 months, and it’s not terrible, but I’m switching birth controls anyway because of some negatives. First, let me list the positives: I haven’t experienced intense mood swings, if any at all, and no hair loss or cramps/nausea. However, here are the negatives I’ve experienced: my acne has progressively gotten worse, where my face just hurts, and I developed bad acne on my neck. I have also experienced light spotting the entire week before my period starts, however, it did make my period lighter."

"I've been taking it for about a year. All my life, I had very heavy menstrual bleeding, which made me iron deficient and miserable for almost 2 weeks of each month (second week - spotting and recovery). I'm in Australia, and each time I asked for help, my doctor was trying to literally sell me Mirena, which I didn't want (he wanted to insert it without checking/USG my uterus - later it turned out it would be a huge mistake). Finally, I demanded oral treatment and got Slynd (called Slinda here). It took a while for my body to adjust - lots of spotting or two mini periods per cycle, but after about 6 months, I stopped bleeding completely. My body is in recovery, I have normal iron levels, and my hair is growing like crazy. I'm feeling stronger physically and mentally, but sometimes I feel very angry at doctors who were insisting on Mirena instead of prescribing (any!) pills. I feel like I've lost half of my life to pain and misery - unnecessarily!"

For Birth Control "I had a period 2 weeks early after starting Slynd. Which may or may not have been caused by Ella. About 2 weeks after skipping the placebo pills, I have had my period for 10 days now, and it's still going! I had spotting the first 3 days, then a few days of a normal period, now spotting for several days. I hope this ends soon because it is seriously affecting my sexual relationship. Most say after 3 months you stabilize, but geez! I don't remember having problems like this ever before in my life!"

For Birth Control "So I’ve been taking this birth control for about two months now, about to be on my third month starting next week. My periods haven’t been that bad, truly, I am not gonna lie, I did have cramping, and I did spot for like a week or two before my period. It is just like the mental aspect I do struggle with, like anxiety, and I get extremely sad around my PMS. Same time, that’s why I thought I had PMDD for a long time, but I might just think it’s just like when every time I go on a birth control, I get extremely depressed and very on and off with my feelings. I just can’t control my feelings with this birth control, and I don’t know if I’m the only one experiencing this. Some days I’m happy about life, and other times I just want to push away my loved ones."

For Birth Control "So I did a review back in August of 2020, I had reviewed it a 10. Following my review, it's like I jinxed myself and was constantly spotting. Would always start mid-pack all the way till the pack ended. It was so annoying. Sometimes, after spotting, I would get a period at the end of the placebos, and it would continue to the next pack. Then on the 14th day, continued with off-and-on spotting. I almost gave up, but I decided to skip the placebos and jump straight to the next pack (10 months in). That following month, I didn’t have spotting or bleeding. The following months after, I’ve taken the placebos (doctor advised me not to skip them), and so far, I have not had a period or spotting. I have gained 13 pounds. Not a big deal for me, I’ve always had a hard time gaining weight. Not sure if skipping the placebos that month helped my body adjust to it somehow. I was sure that I would start the spotting the following month, but nothing. I’m hoping it stays this way."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Slynd for about 3 months. I’ve had spotting, and currently I’m on day 16 of my period. I have an appointment with my gynecologist on Thursday. I just hope the bleeding stops. I do feel like it has helped somewhat with the pain I had, but I don’t feel like the side effects are worth it."

For Birth Control "I had been on the combination pill for a long time, but since developing aura associated with migraines and the risk of stroke associated with the combination pill, I was recommended to switch to progesterone only. I started with Microlut, this wasn’t a great experience for me, bringing me back to my teenage years of horrid period pain, etc. This was for roughly a month with spotting, etc., after the initial period (I am giving you some background info to compare with Slynd). I have since switched to Slynd, currently two weeks in. The spotting has stopped, thankfully, I’m assuming it might be from the increased progesterone compared to Microlut. I haven’t experienced any adverse reactions in anxiety or agitation levels, as other reviews have indicated. I am hopeful I have found a replacement for the combination pill, and the cost will be worth it."

"So the first month on Slynd was pretty great for my PMDD symptoms. I was taking these continuously, no placebo pills. I still had breakthrough bleeding at around the end of the first month, it was light spotting that lasted about 9 days. Not a deal breaker. What was, after I stopped spotting, I experienced pretty bad depression from having no energy to do anything! I was trying to stick it out while my body adjusted for 2-3 months, but it seemed to just be getting worse by the day. THEN I started getting loose stool and cramps every day. The GI stuff was also getting worse by the day, I had to quit. I tried Yaz next, which has the same type of progestin as Slynd. Within days of starting that, the GI issues returned. I have had Nexplanon and the mini pill in the past, which have a different progestin and did not cause these GI issues. I believe since drospirenone has unique properties from the other progestins, it can cause GI issues in some."

"My OBGYN prescribed me this birth control to help with PCOS-related issues like longer than normal periods, painful periods, irregular cycles, and heavy bleeding. She thought a non-hormonal birth control would work better for me, given PCOS is a hormone imbalance. I've been on this pill for about a year now and I'm happy with it. The first 3 months or so, I experienced significant breakthrough bleeding, but it went away. I also don't take the placebo to avoid a period altogether. Sometimes I experience light spotting during that week, but rarely. I don't think this medication has had any significant impact on my weight, acne, or hirsutism. And I wouldn't say it has changed my mood much at all. Overall, I am happy with this birth control."

For Birth Control "I'm only into week 2 of the birth control. I was put on it after having an ectopic pregnancy and receiving methotrexate. I chose this type of BC due to my PCOS. So far, I’ve been super tired every day and I’ve just started having spotting yesterday and heavier bleeding today. I'm not due to start the placebo pills for another 10 days. It seems that breakthrough bleeding is the resounding theme with this particular BC. Can’t wait for the methotrexate to be out of my system so I can stop taking this BC!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this for about 5 months, and I have to say it's working great. I have had no side effects other than a little spotting, but my periods are almost non-existent, and I don't get crazy mood swings or bloating like on the combo pill. If you're sensitive to other birth controls, give this a try. I know everyone is different, but this has been the easiest pill I've tried."
