For Birth Control "Yaz is the first birth control method I've used, so I can't compare with others, but it's been great overall for me. I am more emotional and have moments of irritability that I didn't have before, but it's not unmanageable or extreme. I have clear discharge, which is more of a welcome thing for me, as prior to taking this pill, I had a hard time becoming naturally lubricated. It does its job nicely at preventing pregnancy. My libido has only gone down a notch, which is also fine. Breasts larger, weight unaffected, skin clearer, even my hair feels healthier - though I'm not sure if that is typical. My periods are predictable and light. My urine has a different smell since I began taking Yaz. It's not unpleasant, but it is noticeable. I'm more than satisfied with this birth control."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I took Yaz because of my problems with tiredness and heavy mood swings. While on the pill, I noticed it made them 1,000,000 times worse. However, it did make my periods light, which was super nice for a change. I took this pill for only 3-4 months, then had to switch because my boyfriend and family were sick of me being moody all the time."

For Acne "I've been on Yaz for about 4 months now. I tried the generic Gianvi, but it was seriously like taking rage pills, so now I'm using the brand name even though insurance doesn't cover it. I started taking Yaz to help with my skin because I was breaking out really bad. I noticed a significant difference in my skin within the first month, and now my skin is completely clear with the exception of the occasional bump or two around my period. I get the typical mood swings around my period, but nothing too crazy. I have noticed I feel a little more anxious since I've started taking it, but it isn't extreme. My boobs are much more full now, which I like, but I have gained a little weight (about 3-5 pounds), which has proven hard to get rid of."

For Birth Control "Heavy bleeding and intense cramping were my primary concerns for starting birth control, and since I still bled heavily on my first pill, I was switched to Yaz. The good is that the mild acne I did have is now non-existent, no more cramps, and my cycle is the lightest it's ever been. I can actually *want* to do more than stay in bed during my cycle. The bad is the random spotting. Theoretically, it's caused by not taking the pill at the same time every day, but I keep a pretty tight schedule, so it sucks. The mood swings are also discouraging. I feel myself getting mad or either sad about literally anything more often now. I've also picked up about 10 lbs despite the same eating habits and activity level."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for five months now, about to start my 6th pack. I used to be on Blisolvi-Fe, which made me extremely depressed. I got off the pill for a little less than two years and started Yaz as I got into a serious relationship. At first, Yaz was great; it cleared my acne and shortened my periods. The downsides of it are that my periods never come on the placebo days, which gives me anxiety about being pregnant. Yaz has also suppressed my sex drive a lot. This has caused many arguments in my relationship. My mood has been affected, but not as much as it was on Blisolvi-Fe. I have been tired a lot, which I’m not sure is caused by the pill, but it could be. I also feel like it has suppressed my personality and made me a little bland, if that makes sense. I want to switch pills to get my sex drive back and to lessen my anxiety and mood swings, but I do not want to gain weight, get acne, or get on a pill that will cause worse depression and mood swings."

For Birth Control "The only reason why I am giving it 2 stars is because it did clear my acne better than any product I have ever used. I got on it after my Mirena was removed 4 months ago, and it's the only pill form of birth control I have ever taken. However, as soon as I am done with my red pills, I will not be taking it anymore. It has made me a lunatic. I am so bipolar/emotionally unstable/depressed it's not even funny!! I am destroying my relationship with my mood swings/instability. I'll be okay for a day or two, and then I start feeling crazy again. I cry constantly for no reason. I'm even having nightmares almost every night. Hopefully, switching to a different pill will help."

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz almost 3 months ago. I was put on Yaz for hormonal acne (chin and jawline). I've had terrible experiences with birth control, weight gain, acne, mood swings, etc. I was nervous to start Yaz. Within a week, my acne was completely gone! I did not experience any mood swings or weight gain! No 'hungry all the time feeling.' I was beyond excited. I started my 2nd pack, and my face lit up like never before. Probably the worst breakouts I've ever had. I just finished my 2nd pack, and my face is finally clearing up. I'm just dealing with the aftermath from the breakouts (purple blue spots). I'm guessing my body was just getting used to the hormones. I'll check back in after month 3! Hopefully, it will continue to clear up!"

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Yaz 2.5 years ago to help treat my PMDD and help clear my acne. For the first year, I found Yaz great. I no longer got PMS symptoms, my periods were lighter, and my skin was the clearest it's ever been in my life. I didn't experience any weight gain either. However, these past 12 months, I have noticed a drastic change in my mood. I became depressed, suffering extreme anxiety, and lost complete motivation and passion for life. I cry easily, I feel helpless, I have less self-esteem, I feel more nervous around people, I'm constantly tired and lacking energy. I used to go to the gym 7 days a week, but now I can't even force myself to leave the house. I'm completely opposite to the person I was when I wasn't taking the pill. I experience constant yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. I decided to stop taking Yaz and am hoping I will go back to being the person I was before I used this pill. Please, please do your research before taking this pill!"

For Menstrual Disorders "Yaz completely changed my life for good. I've suffered from PMDD for many years; to the point that I felt I had no life because of mood swings, cramps, migraines, bloating, and terrible anxiety. I've been taking Yaz for a month now, and I just experienced my first period on it, 3 light days vs. 7 days (2 extremely heavy days). I have mild cramps still. I really love Yaz; it also has improved my sex drive!"

For Birth Control "I am on month 5 of Yaz, and it has been pretty awful. My periods have been super irregular and unpredictable when I used to have a period every 4 weeks for 4 days like clockwork. My first period on the pill lasted 3 weeks, the next two came early and lasted 2 weeks, the next month I didn't have one, and this month I have had two. My sex drive has diminished to almost zero, and I have had crazy mood swings. I have never struggled with depression or anxiety until I started Yaz. Positives: my skin cleared up within weeks of starting Yaz, and I have had minimal breakouts. My period symptoms have lightened up, my cramps aren't as bad, and insomnia has gone away. Also, not pregnant. I am looking into switching, but I don't know what to switch to :/"

For Birth Control "I have been using Yaz for almost 3 years now. I have no mood swings, and my acne cleared completely. I get one or two zits before I get my regular period once a month. I gained a few pounds, but it can be fixed. I am 20 years old, and I have no mood swings. Sex drive is the same, and I love this pill. I used to be on the NuvaRing for a year, but it made me moody. So Yaz is the best thing ever invented to reduce human overpopulation!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Yaz for 3 months. The heavy bleeding, agony, and cramps have all stopped, plus the cravings. Although I feel very low and depressed. I seem to be overly sensitive and raw all the time. It's becoming harder to contain myself around loved ones as I am so emotional and seem to snap at everything and everyone. I would seriously recommend whether this is the right option if you suffer from mental health issues or you are prone to it. I generally do feel anxious without the pill, although I have been feeling depressed recently, and it's dreadful."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have taken other BCPs over time, but Yaz is the best. After 2 years on it, I no longer have a period, no cramps, and my face has cleared up. But also, it has helped with my mood swings and irritability. I am worried about the blood clots and cancer stuff as I get older. I am not a smoker, but my sister was and died from a blood clot. She was on birth control, but not Yaz."

For Birth Control "Last year, I had to start the pill due to an irregular menstrual cycle. My gynecologist recommended I take this brand for 6 months. I was always the happiest and brightest person. I would be the one to cheer people up and make their day. This pill gave me depression. It took away my identity. I was on it for 4 months, and I would have extreme mood swings every single day. I had to stop taking it due to severe spotting for the last 2 months of it. I would bleed every day and a heavy amount too. I gained so much weight (10-15 pounds) and was very bloated. My appetite was amplified to the max. There wasn’t a single moment when I didn’t have food in my mouth. I tried to stay on Yaz, but it was an absolute disaster. I didn’t realize why these awful changes were happening to me. After I got off of it due to heavy spotting, I realized my mood improved. This pill ruined my life. I still have depression, and I resent this brand for giving it to me."

For Acne "I have been taking Yaz for 2 weeks now. I get breakouts, but they go away quickly and come back. I was still willing to give it a chance. I am stopping because I have become depressed, exhausted, negative, and I overanalyze things, which means I overreact, and I'm very emotional. This is affecting my relationship and my work. I feel overwhelmed."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yaz for about 8 months now, and I have not one thing bad to say about it. I've lost 10 pounds on it, I no longer suffer from PMDD, my periods are short and regular, and it cures my headaches. I don't know how I'd live without it. The only days that are hard are the days when I have to take the sugar pills-I love this birth control."

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz BC pills when I was 16 years old. I am now 18 and still taking them, and they have been a miracle! When I was 16, I had lots of small, red acne all over my face, I tried and tried and tried with many topical creams to help reduce it and make them vanish, but nothing worked. (Although benzoyl peroxide did help my acne on my forehead, my cheeks/chin/mouth area was still horrible). My doctor prescribed me Yaz, and it honestly was the best decision. I started noticing my pimples vanishing after the first month of taking it. The only downside about this pill for me is, I am now 18 and have horrible mood swings. I get mad at people for no reason and cry over nothing. After 2 years, I am going to take a break from taking it."

For Acne "I’m in the middle of my fourth Yaz pack right now, and I wish I was seeing the acne-clearing effects more. Most sources say by 2-3 months you should start seeing your skin improve, and by month 6 you should really see them, so I’m not gonna quit it yet. I still wanna see if it will help my acne. The first month I had my period for a month straight, it was light, but I still had cramps and stuff, so that wasn’t fun. My boobs got bigger, biggest during the 2nd-3rd month, and then they’ve gone down slightly so far through the 4th month. Other than that, no weight gain. I have been more depressed and emotional lately, so that’s kinda a bummer, but my skin's been slightly better. Some redness has gone away, and I definitely get fewer pimples, but I still get some. Hopefully, it will be better by month 6 and on. So far it’s just not good, not bad, just eh."

For Birth Control "Yaz gave me horrible mood swings, depression, headache, sickness, leg cramps, hair loss, slow foggy brain, etc. I lost 1/4 of my hair. I'd feel so much headache to the point my brain became foggy when I tried to work. I couldn't read and think as fast as I could before I took the pill. It hurt my work performance and gave me horrible headaches and body cramps. My leg hurt really badly, possibly due to a blood clot. I quit it but got 5 big endometrial polyps while using Yaz although something else might have caused them. I had surgery to remove them a few months ago, and I have been sick and weak ever since, became anemic, and couldn't work for months. I get super dizzy from anemia at work now. My body isn't like it used to be."

For Birth Control "My first experience with YAZ (10 yrs ago) was good - it helped with my skin and didn't notice any major side effects. After a few years, I went off all BC - I was single and they're expensive, etc. About a year ago, I decided to go back on BC and chose YAZ again. I'm normally pretty mellow (low moments from time to time, nothing crazy), but I've noticed that since taking it again, epic mood swings set off by the tiniest things. End of the world. Major rage issues (I threw an $800 laptop 15 ft across my living room) or just feeling hopeless. I almost had a meltdown when making pancakes. I thought it was just me at first, but thinking back on it, this all started a year ago. It's cost me my relationship. I have my yearly next week, gonna try something new."

For Birth Control "Made me very emotional and anxious. I felt like I was going crazy. It also made my periods irregular and gave me awful cramps. Only took for 4 months, and it caused me to have 3 very painful ovarian cysts. Was not the right birth control for me!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this medication for about three years now. The first few months were terrible. I broke out, had severe mood swings, I'd cry for no reason. After month four, I felt completely fine. No more mood swings or acne outbreaks. My period got lighter, I stopped cramping as much. The only problem I have now is that I don't get as wet as I used to. But that's what lube is for. And hey, I'm not pregnant, so it's doing its job."

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz for my extremely painful periods. I got on birth control when I was 14 because my periods were so heavy and painful that I was practically paralyzed for the first two days. I tried a countless number of birth controls and also Nexplanon, which made me gain 20 kilos, got aches for the first time in my life, gave me a nonstop period for three years, and I became very irritable and mean. I got on Yaz to help with my weight gain and emotional issues as well as my painful and long periods, and it seemed to clear up my aches, and I started losing weight, but after taking it for over six months, I’ve started to get little bumps around my chin, and I’m very emotional. My periods are shorter but extremely painful again. And I’m having a lot of nausea when I’m on my period now and have also been experiencing memory loss."

For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for some 9 years and just moved onto Yaz 4 months ago. I loved Yaz for the first month, however, I am now finding that I have TERRIBLE mood swings... VERY emotional... cry for no apparent reason and get very angry! I've also found that I have zero sex drive. The only time I have one is when I am on the sugar pills... for the rest of the month I just feel numb! Hasn't anyone else had a similar experience? I'm thinking of trying the Merina Coil... any ideas? Thanks :)"
