"Just finishing the 2nd pack. I have never taken birth control before. I wanted to try it because I have super, super heavy, painful, long periods. The first month, I had breakthrough bleeding, then it stopped. I have a much better mood now, skin is clearing up. It also helps with cramps, bloating, and much more. Hopefully, it will continue to be a great thing, only time will tell."

For Acne "I've always had bad anxiety about new medications and scared myself quite a bit reading reviews when I first started taking this for PCOS. Luckily, the only main symptoms of PCOS I had before were irregular bleeding/spotting and some acne. The first month wasn't horrible but wasn't great, my period lasted almost 2 weeks, I had some breast tenderness and some bad (but manageable) cramping. However, after taking it for about 5 months now, I can say it has dramatically improved my situation. I was nervous about gaining weight, but I am a fit, healthy person who works out, so I actually ended up losing a few lbs. The best thing is that for the first time in my life, I have a regular period, with minimal cramping and a lighter flow. The only negatives are that if you don't take it at the same time or skip a pill, you will immediately get breakthrough bleeding that can last for quite some time, and also my depression/anxiety has gotten a bit worse, although I can't say for sure the Yaz has caused it."

For Birth Control "I started Yaz a few months ago after I had terrible effects from Blisovi, and I am beyond pleased with this birth control. Works well as a contraceptive, but that’s not all. I had HORRIBLE cramps, long periods, and excessive bleeding before starting Yaz. It’s been a couple of months now, and I’ve never felt better. I haven’t had any cramping whatsoever, my periods have gotten so short that they last one to two days (it typically lasted 3-4 days before Yaz), and the bleeding is light and basically just spotting. I also haven’t had any bad side effects like I had on Blisovi: no more mood swings, month-long cramping, not as depressed, no more nausea during and before periods. This pill has completely changed my periods, and it no longer feels like the nightmare it was lol. Would definitely recommend Yaz :)"

For Birth Control "I suffered with painful periods and extreme bloating and gastro issues a week before and after periods. I take Yaz (Eloine in the UK) as advised with a 4-day break, I have no period at all, which is great. Also, all my problems with 'endo belly' are gone. My mood is stable on Eloine/Yaz. I was very worried about putting on weight, but I feel there is not much I can blame on the pill (I hope!). I have put a bit on, but I could blame not exercising and not so great diet at times. No bloating anymore. Breasts increased quite a lot, I think my body shape changed a bit too. My skin and hair are good. I'm 33. I’ve been on it over 2 years now. I tried once to have a break from this pill, the first month was okay, the second I had all my symptoms from the past and heavy period, so I came back to this pill after 2 months. Stopping it and starting made my mental health really bad. I was depressed, panicky, anxious, and had extreme anger at times, however, it settled with taking the pill, and I’m very stable."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have only taken Yaz for 1 month. I was having really irregular periods, and so my doctor put me on Yaz because I had liked Yasmin in the past. My period that had lasted for three months nonstop ended immediately when I started Yaz, so I was excited. But, I began cramping every day for the entire month. For the first three weeks, I had a bad attitude and was depressed. I started breaking out, and I became very tired all the time. After reading some reviews of other women, I decided to call my doctor to see if things were normal. He decided to switch me to a different brand. Use with caution and talk with your doctor if you begin to notice these same things."

For Birth Control "I have irregular periods (1 per year), so I was put on birth control to help. When I was a teen, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and it worked just fine. I am 24 now and got a new doc and was swapped to Yaz, one pill for 28 days. I was on it for about a year. NEVER AGAIN! I also have a tilted uterus, so my cramps can be debilitating. Yaz was supposed to help. It made it worse. The cramps sat in my lower back, and it felt like shooting pains through my whole body. The worst part was I developed panic attacks. My mood was terrible. I was either angry, or I cried every time I saw something lovey-dovey on a Netflix movie. My depression got worse. To the point where I thought I was going nuts. I finally had enough and asked to be put back on Ortho."

For Birth Control "I really loved this pill. The only issue is that over time, my cramps became almost unbearable. It is excellent for appetite control related to other pills. I gained ten pounds on Alesse and then lost it when I began Yaz. It is also spectacular for your skin."

For Birth Control "I decided to switch from Dianette to Yaz after doing research and heard Yaz was good for acne, and Dianette was making me extremely depressed and having random bursts of sadness and crying for no reason. I have been taking Yaz for 10 months, and although it did help to clear my acne, for the last 3 months, I have not been myself, feel lower than I ever have before, and my anxiety is crippling. It makes me not even want to get out of bed most days and has made me so unmotivated. My cramps are worse than ever before and have a constant headache throughout my 'period.' I am coming off this pill for a while and will then try the minipill (progestin only)."

For Menstrual Disorders "It's been almost a year using Yaz, and ever since I started, it changed my cycle completely. The color of my period changed to a dark brown color, my flow even changed. Cramping did not stop but, in fact, made it worse. So a month back, I wanted to skip my period, so I did not take the white pills. After having skipped them, I started spotting. A week later, I got my period, which lasted for longer than usual, for approximately two weeks. I then consulted my doctor, who gave me pills to stop the flow, but it still persisted. Even today, I'm still spotting. I'm confused and very worried as I don't know what to do. If I stop taking Yaz, I know that the bleeding will continue, so the question is, how do I make it stop?"

For Menstrual Disorders "I have really bad cramps on my period and usually end up taking a day off of work each month. Since I've started Yaz, I now have almost all the symptoms of PMS/PMDD, which I hadn't had before. I had bad cramps and bloating for a couple of days during my period, sure, that's normal. But now I have mild cramps, bloating, headaches, irritability, muscle aches, and trouble sleeping EVERY DAY since I've started! The doctor says it may take 3-6 months for my body to get used to the hormones, but if this continues after 3 months, I'm getting off them! The only bonus: my period is regular, unlike before."

For Birth Control "I originally got on the pill to treat acne and went through two other types of birth control pills before changing to Yaz. With both of the other pills, I had constant breakthrough bleeding throughout the month. I stopped taking the first pill after a month, then tried Seasonale. My doctor told me to stay on it for a while and see if the bleeding went away, so I took it for a year, but was still having problems. I was beginning to think I wouldn't be able to take any birth control pills when I decided to try Yaz. Yaz cleared up my acne, stopped my cramps, and made my period much shorter and much lighter. Overall, taking Yaz was a wonderful experience for me. I stopped taking it about two years ago but restarted today, and I'm looking forward to the benefits."

For Birth Control "Well, my Dr. wanted me to try it instead of Depo, but I cramp while not even on my period now and have chest pains about an hour after taking it. I looked up reviews because of the chest pains, and no surprise, others experience chest pain with it. I wouldn't recommend it. Also, the days of the week label falls off and gets me off track. That doesn't help."

"I was taking Yaz before for over a year. I stopped to try Seasonique. I loved getting my period every three months. But I had unbearable cramps and a cyst that would not shrink in size, that was awful! My doctor wanted me to try Ortho Tri-Cyclen, which I hated before, but I tried it for 2 months. I just started a new pack of Yaz after seeing my doctor. I never had a decrease in my sex drive or weight gain before. I was very comfortable with it."

"This was the first birth control I was ever on, and I loved that it cleared up my skin. I've been off of it for a year now, and all of my acne has returned, and my mood swings are back in full force. I am going to start it again soon. My only complaint is I never had cramps before this pill, and it gave me minor cramps, nothing completely unbearable. I also had a major loss in sex drive, but overall, a good experience that I would recommend to others."

For Birth Control "I am 17, and I got on YAZ in October 2008. I had never been on the pill before, yet, I had heard bad things about Yaz. I went through some blood tests to make sure that YAZ would be okay for me, and it turned out I was cleared to take it. I have been taking it for almost a year now, and I have felt no symptoms. I actually like YAZ because it keeps me very regular, I know exactly what day I will start and around what time, something I have never had before. Seeing all these bad reviews people are giving it makes me wonder. I haven't had any symptoms really, but I have had the occasional cramps. My mom today just got me a new pill called Ocella. I decided to stay on YAZ."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for over a year now. At first, it was great, my skin cleared up, my periods were regular, light, and short, and my moods varied only slightly. After about the first 5 months, however, everything started going wrong. I have constant heartburn, I've gained 10 lbs., I'm tired all the time, my acne has returned, and I've been spacey and forgetful. Worst of all are my periods. The week before and throughout my period, my moods are ALL over the place, I'm irritable and easily upset, which isn't like me. I'm getting severe cramps, migraines, and I get really nauseous when I'm on my period, which are heavier now than they ever were and last usually about 8 days, last month it lasted 11! Everyone's different, but this isn't for me."

For Acne "My doctor prescribed me Yaz to clear up my hormonal acne. I started Yaz two months ago, at the start, I kept getting cystic acne bad on my neck, back, and chin. My acne actually got worse the first month (pack) of being on Yaz, had the most painful and very heavy period. My acne started to clear up in the last week of the second pack. I'm now about to start my third pack, and all of my acne has gone, period cramps have completely gone, light flow, and I feel great. You just have to be patient and trust that your hormones are adjusting and just give it some time."

For Birth Control "I was put on Yaz this past June in order to have withdrawal bleeding every three months, ease the pain of cramps and endometriosis, and help with acne. My mood really positively increased, and I’ve been the happiest and most emotionally stable in my entire life on Yaz! My acne stayed about the same where it was in June, but my periods became lighter and less painful. However, while taking the hormonal pills continuously, I still got my period each month, and they each lasted about 11 days. Because of this, my doctor has switched me to Tri-Sprintec with the hopes of less bleeding and being able to skip the periods. If it weren’t for the prolonged periods and unimproved (however minimal) acne, this would’ve been perfect for me."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I had my fallopian tubes fully removed after Mirena for 11 years and deciding I didn't want more kids. My period was non-existent for the time on Mirena, so I only had my teenage years of periods to compare and suddenly, as a 32-year-old, I was experiencing similar emotional/mental troubles as I had when I was a kid: irrational thoughts, depression, anxiety, mood swings, crying constantly for no reason, hopelessness. I'd come out of this period fog and feel fine and be confused about why everything felt so dire just days before. My Dr. started me on Yaz 2 months ago, and my H cup breasts have gotten so big that none of my bras fit anymore (as if I needed them to be bigger?!). I have acne that won't clear, I've been bleeding in between periods along with uterine and vaginal pain, my sex drive is dead, hasn't made a difference in my PMDD. I called my Dr. this morning and told her everything that's going on, and she agreed this clearly isn't the right option for me and is switching me to Prozac."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been taking Loryna (generic for Yaz) for about two years now. I'll preface this review by saying I'm turning 27, and I've been on some form of BC since age 20. I had surgery 12/2012 for ovarian cysts, and ever since have been struggling with weight gain, pelvic bloating, and cramping that gets worse with each passing month. When I first tried this medication, I had little to no effects. But after about 4-6 months, I gained about 30 pounds. After two years, I'm up to 40 extra pounds with no reason for it. I'm constantly bloated, hungry, and moody. Not to mention my libido is nonexistent, and I never want to be touched by my fiancé. I'm getting off this horrible medication and going on Sprintec this weekend."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been on Yaz for three months. I started taking it because I told my doctor that I had really bad moodiness during PMS. Ha, it's gotten worse! I don't start my period till the last day of inactive pills. My cramps feel like I'm 15 again (I'm 36), and my mood swings have worsened. Barely any sex drive. I'm going back to Ortho-Tricyclen (Trinessa)."

For Birth Control "Everyone has different experiences, Yaz was not the pill for me. I was on it for 3 months, and while I was diligent about taking it and it did prevent pregnancy, the side effects made me switch pills. My mood swings were awful. One minute I’d be fine, and then I’d be biting someone’s head off for no reason, and then I’d be sobbing for no reason. It also made my period symptoms worse. The cramping was bad! I had zero sex drive, and my bleeding was heavier than I had experienced since middle school. It also did nothing to help with my acne, which I was really hoping it would. I am almost 26, and I’ve been on birth control since I was 14, but I stopped for a year or two before I got into a serious relationship. This pill does not work for everyone."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been on Yaz for about 3 years now as my period was very irregular and sometimes even got it twice a month. Yaz has absolutely changed my life, it's been controlling my menstruations, it's perfectly on time according to my pills. I've never had any weird side effects, and it's also helped with the cramping a bit, but not as much as the control it offers over your period. Very happy!"

For Birth Control "I have horrible headaches every day. Extreme moodiness, and sometimes it doesn’t give me my period. It makes me cramp horribly and stay in pain every day. I’m giving it a 3/10 because it did clear my face up a lot. This birth control constantly has me stressed out."
