For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for about 5 years, had no serious problems with it, and it worked great as a form of birth control. I gained weight, but not sure if the pill is to blame. I had irritable mood swings, but nothing too bad. The one biggest side effect for me that made me switch was the migraines I was getting while taking the placebos. Each and every month, I would have migraines while on my period. But other than that, I love this pill, my periods were always on time, I had short 3-4 day periods with minimal cramping. I have just started taking Levora, which my doctor recommended taking 3 straight months and then having my period to minimize the migraines. So far, I've had breakthrough bleeding and heavy as well for about a week. I hope it gets better."

For Birth Control "This pill ruined my life a few years ago, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it. It was a nightmare from the beginning. I threw up constantly (while still gaining a ridiculous amount of weight very quickly). I went from having clear, clean skin to it looking like I had a disease. It took over a year after stopping the pill for my face to clear up. I became paranoid and depressed while having violent and unpredictable mood swings. I cried every single day. I eventually had to drop out of school because I couldn't control my moods. Horrible pill pushed by a horrible doctor."

For Acne "Yasmin has been wonderful at clearing my hormonal acne. It took about 4 months to go from a lot of angry spots to smooth, beautiful skin. It also makes my hair shinier and healthier. Unfortunately, this is where the good things end! Despite claims it helps with water retention, I do suffer from it. I have got much more appetite and cravings than before, which don't help. My mood swings are crazy, I often feel really sad and depressed. Bigger and painful breasts. Bloating. Tiredness. I really wanted to like Yasmin, but it's not working for me! I will stop it and am already getting ready for the spots to come back, but I'd rather feel sane and myself again. Good luck to everyone, it can work wonders for some, you need to try for yourself."

For Birth Control "At first, I didn't really think birth control was controlling my life. I started using birth control eight years ago after giving birth to my daughter. I started with NuvaRing. I really didn't think how I was feeling was due to the birth control at first. After five years, I removed the NuvaRing and started Yasmin. As I sit here and type this, I regret it. I am depressed more than I have ever been in my entire life. It's like I can't find any joy or happiness in anything. All I want to do is just stay in bed. I have no sex drive. I can go weeks/months without sex. I don't even think about sex, I don't get aroused, nothing! Sex drive is just gone! I have headaches, mood swings, and probably other things that are caused by this medicine. I have been watching a lot of documentaries on birth control and all of the awful things it does to our body. Since I have three children, I've decided to get a tubal ligation. I pray to feel whole again."

For Menstrual Disorders "I advise you all not to take this pill. It is an absolute nightmare. If your wish is to cry all day long, get angry at everyone, have other people mad at you for being emotional, not be able to do anything with your life, and generally if you are wishing for misery, then this is the pill for you. But I would like to take revenge against the people who invented this pill. They knew if they upped the estrogen dose on the pill, their patients would need to be prescribed antidepressants, which - CHA-CHING!! - is a plus for them as their eyeballs look like this ($) ($). This goes for Loestrin Fe too, which I am on now."

For Birth Control "I'm in my second week on Yasmin, and I have already noticed my skin is significantly clearer. In that respect, I'm doing fine. But I also happen to have a mental illness and have noticed a drastic change in my mood. Because of my mood disorder, I pay constant attention to how I feel, and this pill has definitely downwardly shifted my mood. Also, breast tenderness :/"

For Birth Control "I've been using these pills for 2 months now, I haven't had any serious side effects. I've lost weight, I’ve lost 2 lbs. My hair grows a lot. My period is lighter. I've had some mood swings, but it's not that serious. Everyone reacts differently to it. Don't be afraid to try it, but check with the doctor before choosing Yasmin 28."

For Menstrual Disorders "I am suffering from an irregular menstrual cycle, heavy flow, intolerable cramps, and mood swings. I went to a doctor, and she found that I had myoma in my uterus; it has been causing the heavy flow and pain. She put me on Yasmin, saying that it will ease the pain, decrease my flow, and make the cycle regular. The first pack made me so miserable because I couldn't stop bleeding; I bled for 29 days straight with heavy flow, like it was the first day of my period. The doctor made me stop taking it because I was bleeding too much; she said that my body is reacting too much to the pill. Other than this, decreased appetite, better mood, bigger boobs. Couldn't see a difference in my acne."

For Birth Control "It's the first time writing in a forum, but I can't be in silence now! I was on these tablets for six months. I didn't realize that panic attacks, dizziness, anxiety, and tears for little things were because of BC pills! My skin was brilliant, really! But it wasn't worth it - weakness and numbness of legs, arms, coordination problems, decreased libido, problems with digestion, emotional instability, depression! Be careful!"

For Birth Control "It’s disgusting that this pill is allowed to be given to girls. The side effects are a list as long as your arm, and half of them aren’t even on the leaflet. I have felt like I have been losing my mind. I genuinely have been worrying about being sectioned because of the insane mood swings, fits of rage, depression, anxiety, all destroying my relationships. Hair loss - my hair is almost gone, so brittle and so thin, and comes out by the shedloads in the shower. Also, brittle nails - they’ve just been snapping off completely, so I’ve had to wear plasters because it hurts so much. Had a blood test to see if I’m deficient in anything, but of course I’m not. Confusion and grogginess - my work life has taken a massive hit because I’ve felt so dopey, forgetful, and tired. Weight gain - a ridiculous amount. Sex drive - completely gone. This is the worst pill I’ve ever been on. Yes, your skin gets quite clear, but this is NOT worth ruining your life for!!"

For Birth Control "This pill helped my PCOS, caused me to gain 8 kg, and my boobs are way larger. I’m really bloated a lot of the time when I eat any kind of fast food. The first few months on this pill, I was quite emotional and bled constantly, but this stopped after about 3 months, and I felt better. I got depressed when I stopped taking a pill for a break (which was advised by my doctor). But it made me so sad and anxious. I would cry every day and think that my boyfriend was cheating on me. I take a pill break to allow a break from the hormones, which stops them from building up in my body, and I feel way better. I started working out a lot to help my mood swings and anxiety, which helped with mood. The pill helped my skin a tiny bit (I am also on oxytetracycline now, which has helped so much in combination with the pill). If you take this pill, you need to be working out a lot and eating really healthy, just looking after yourself in general in order to minimize the negative effects. It is a good pill compared to others."

For Birth Control "So I’ve been on this pill for almost two months now, and I love it! At first, I was pretty emotional over food, mood swings, headaches, and nausea. But on my second set of pills, I’ve been feeling much better. Some side effects I get are occasional headaches. I get hungry more frequently (which was a good thing). I have bad eating habits, and this made me want food more, and I've had no weight gain on this pill. I think my boobs are growing, which is not a bad thing. I was pretty scared to go on the pill, knowing people get scary side effects, but all reactions are different for everyone. Don’t scare yourself with the bad reviews. You know your body best. I love this pill, and I hope it works great for you :)"

For Birth Control "I didn’t notice any difference in myself until I stopped taking it, been off of it for nearly 1 year. Looking back, I was a different person. I used to cry for no reason at any time, serious mood swings, and huge breasts. Yasmin really affected my mood and confidence. When coming off, I lost a lot of weight. However, since coming off, I’ve now got bacne, which I never had before. Pros: not getting pregnant and clear skin on my back. Cons: everything else."

For Acne "Been on Yasmin a total of 6 months now for acne, and although initially it helped get rid of some spots, for the most part my skin hasn't changed. I've gained more weight, and my face appears bloated. Mood swings were an issue towards the beginning, but okay now. After 6 months and no real improvement, I don't know whether to wait it out or try something new."

For Birth Control "I'm 30 and on Yasmin for acne. Since being on it, I'm feeling depressed, have a low sex drive, mood swings, etc. Still have the same acne after 6 months. Quitting tomorrow, can't take the depression any longer. I was experiencing anxiety before Yasmin, but we found out the root of my issue was vitamin imbalances. Yasmin has taken me in the complete opposite direction. I'm done with it. I had been off birth control for 3 years and will never go back again."

For Birth Control "Unfortunately, Yasmin just isn’t for me. I started it about a month ago, and after reading some mixed reviews, I was hopeful that I would be one of those who had no side effects. Shame to say that has not been the case. First week, I had awful headaches, nausea, and fatigue followed by extreme mood swings. By the second week, the mood swings had gone, but I became bloated, constipated, and ravenously hungry at random points during the day. I have gained weight already, and my muscles have started to ache. Throwing them in the bin tomorrow and hoping to feel better as soon as possible! With that being said, pills work differently for everyone, so I would recommend trying it first."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 2 weeks now, and it's horrendous. My skin was perfect, now my skin is really bad, and I'm having outbreaks every day. My mood swings are bad, and all of a sudden, from being the happiest person on earth, I'm becoming depressed and distant. I have an 8-month-old daughter, and this is not on. I am also feeling so nauseous all the time, and I can't stop eating. I'm a professional dancer, and I've gained weight despite dancing 12 hours a day. This pill is absolute rubbish."

For Birth Control "I lasted only 1 month on this pill. As soon as I started taking this, I was an emotional, angry, anxious mess. Everything either made me angry or it made me cry. I was also exhausted all the time. I normally work out 2-3 times a week, but I noticed I was so tired every day, I only worked out maybe once a week. As for weight gain, I think I might have gained some water weight, but nothing too noticeable. It didn't affect my appetite too much either. I was on Junel Fe before, which was great until the very end, where I started getting abnormal periods. I'm on my placebo/period week now and cramping and heavy flow. Two things I didn't have much of with Junel. I'm switching to Apri next week, and praying it works better for me!"

For Birth Control "This pill ruined my life. Before taking this, I had very mild acne. Two weeks into the first pack, and my skin was so bad I wouldn’t leave my house. I’d never experienced anything like it before. My mood swings were crazy, I’d cry constantly for no reason! I became extremely depressed, and I had a very short temper. It killed my energy, made me fat. Oh, and my hair fell out, and I got terrible melasma on my upper lip and nose (which still hasn’t gone away...). My doctor told me to stick it out for three months. I hoped for the best, but on month five, I had to call it quits. I’ve been off of it for six months now, and my skin and mood have slightly improved, but I’m still trying to undo the terrible effects caused by this pill. My skin and hair haven’t been the same since."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Yasmin because I had an irregular menstrual period. Ever since I started using the drug, my period has been regular with no cramps, however, my acne got worse with time. I'm on my third packet, and my face breaks out every other day with cystic acne, which I'm still yet to figure out. During my first month, I had mood swings, was so emotional, feeling nausea a lot with a severe headache, but now I'm better. I just have to stick to the drug since it helps to regulate my period."

For Acne "Acne: For me, the Yasmin pill has been wonderful in clearing my acne. I did notice the first two months that my acne increased a little, with large cystic bumps under the skin that I had not experienced before. However, these bumps went away very quickly if I didn’t pop or touch them. After around month 3, my acne started to clear, and within a month, I was not getting any new breakouts. So far, it’s been the only thing that actually works for me. I must also add that while starting Yasmin, I was also on antibiotics, which possibly reduced the purge. I have been taking it for 6 months now and usually, I actually don’t take a stop week to get my period (unless I break through). Side effects: I have not experienced any major side effects other than my boobs growing quite a bit and possibly a bit of weight gain. For the first month, I had headaches and mood swings which have luckily gone."

For Acne "I'm 17, and I have acne, and my periods aren't on a right 'schedule.' I started taking this pill 3 years ago (I stopped using it for a while in the middle), but at the time that I took it, it really did help with my period, and it was great! For the skin, though, I'm not too sure. I mean, I still get zits (not really awful zits, but they're still bad zits) at times (though it might be because of the chocolate I eat, which I can't get rid of :) ). But overall, it wasn't a bad pill, but the side effects are really bothering me. I have mood swings and tend to cry for any stupid reason when I argue with my mom (but again, this might be because I'm in 'teenage years'). So, yeah, be aware of the side effects."

For Birth Control "It's my first time trying Yasmin. I recently got my IUD removed after 3 years because of all the wide array of horrible side effects that I experienced (cystic pimples, vision problems, 20 lb weight gain). The first week on Yasmin, my libido increased, and my face wasn't as oily as it was on IUD. Into the second week, my face is slowly clearing up, but my libido definitely plummeted. Also, I started to notice mood changes. I usually work out 4-5 days a week, but the second week into Yasmin, I felt exhausted all the time, unmotivated, and flat out depressed. Going into my 3rd week, I started to experience shortness of breath, dry eyes, tightness around the chest, and anxiety. I woke up one night unable to breathe, and I was flush pale. I will be discontinuing this medication from today. I also have to see my family physician for a check-up. Ladies, I understand you want to be free of acne, but the side effects on this one are not worth it."
