For Acne "I used Diane for years, but my doctor switched me to Yasmin because I was experiencing breakthrough bleeding. Have been on Yasmin for six months, and I really do not feel like myself, with consistent moderate depression and angry mood swings. So odd because I am normally a happy-go-lucky person! I was using Diane largely for my acne, and it worked, but Yasmin has not done anything for my acne either - I have at least two new whiteheads every morning I wake up, which also does not help with the depression! I will be switching back to Diane and exploring other options to address breakthrough bleeding at the end of this cycle."

For Birth Control "This pill is a nightmare! Horrific mood swings and general snappiness most of the time, with days of total lethargy and tearful depression. Also gave me chronic diarrhea throughout my period and problems sleeping. It turned me into a different person, which was frightening."

For Birth Control "Initially, I was on Yasmin for 1 year. Noticeable changes/side effects were: weight loss, hair thinning, more emotional, lighter periods. I went off it for a month (I forgot to renew my prescription), and in that month, I put on about 2 kg, was not so emotional, and my period was a little heavier. Also, the first two weeks of being off Yasmin, my body was super sensitive! Possibly both a good and bad thing? I am now back on Yasmin, and the old side effects are kicking in again. Overall, I would say it works well with my body, so I will continue to use it. Recommend it if it works with your body too, the only way to tell is to try it really."

For Birth Control "At first, I thought this pill was great, after 9 months, however, I was an emotional mess and a stone heavier! Different pills work for different people, so it's always better to try things rather than taking these reviews for gospel, but they really didn't agree with me in the end. I was prescribed antidepressants 2 months after starting Yasmin and didn't see the connection. It was only when I was finding it hard to cope while on the antidepressants that I did a bit of research! I've stopped taking Yasmin now, and it's been almost a month. I still have the odd overthinking episode, but I'm largely so much better!!! I'm still on antidepressants and have started taking the POP on Dr.'s advice! I didn't get pregnant, though, so it works!"

For Birth Control "I used Yasmin for 4 months when I decided to stop due to the side effects. I had terrible mood swings, headaches, and I was always bloated. I gained some weight as well, but most importantly, it ruined my skin completely. I had huge and painful pimples on my chin and jaw area that were never healing. I noticed that during the 7 days break, I would not get new breakouts, so eventually, I decided to quit the pill. A few weeks after stopping the pill, I felt a huge difference. My weight is back to normal, no headaches, no mood swings. My skin cleared in just one month, and I have no breakouts now, but the damage to my skin was so big that I'm still struggling to heal the scars left. I felt from the beginning that something was not right and went back to the doctor to ask for advice, but they told me to wait a few more months for the pill to work. I waited 2 more months. However, I just felt it was getting worse and worse and decided to listen to my body and quit... And I'm very happy I did so."

For Birth Control "I'm 30 and tried many different pills since I was 14. (Microgynon 50ED being the longest used.) I went off the pill for 3 years at 27, then started on Yasmin for 6 months and had a lot of breakthrough bleeding. My doctor then switched to the Implanon (under-skin implant) for 4 months, breakthrough bleeding continued, got massive headaches. I then had it removed and have now been back on Yasmin for a further 5 months. Non-stop bleeding, some days heavy, some light, bad acne breakouts, extremely tender breasts, bloating, emotionally unstable, mood swings, and panic attacks - all of which I've never had in my life! I also have polycystic ovarian syndrome, and this has not improved this at all."

For Birth Control "Just over a week on from taking Yasmin... First few days, I noticed being slightly more emotional, as in I cried pretty much every day for three days, but my angriness was a lot calmer. I found that it relaxed me a bit... Crying has stopped after roughly the third day in. Generally feeling happier and more calm, being a moody person due to hormones, Yasmin has helped with this. My skin has not yet cleared up... hoping it does, but will keep updated, only been a week. My head, I believe, has been a bit cloudy, e.g., was driving the other day and didn't feel like I was completely there and hard to concentrate sometimes. I'm not sure if this is from Yasmin, but it might be worth thinking about and checking in on. Bloatedness has gone! and decreased appetite."

For Birth Control "I was on Yasmin for almost 6 years, and it worked wonders for me. I never suffered from bad skin. I was prescribed Yasmin for heavy bleeding on my periods, and it helped a lot with my flow of bleeding. I never noticed any mood changes or negative things to say about the Yasmin pill. A few days ago, I was diagnosed with low serotonin levels in my brain (neurotransmitter responsible for your moods). Doctors and pharmacists say it was because I had been on the pill for so long. I would cry all the time, became negative, moody, so anxious, and depressive. I had to go on antidepressants to get my serotonin levels up again. I have never been an unhappy person or anxious person, I was always happy and an outgoing person. So if you want to go on the pill for any reason, make sure you do not stay on it for too long! Yasmin is a good pill for a short while but not for the long run."

For Birth Control "I was put on Yasmin for 6 months to regulate my cycle and reduce acne flare-ups, and it was the worst 6 months of my life. I gained 20 lbs that did NOT come off easily after stopping the pill, experienced horrible mood swings, had HEAVIER periods, acne breakouts, breakthrough bleeding, and I was nauseous all the time. This pill seems to agree with most people, but it definitely did not agree with me. I went on Femcon a year after stopping Yasmin and experienced virtually no side effects."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmin for about a year now. I was on Ortho-Tri for a few years prior to that, and Nordette (another birth control pill) a few years prior to that one. Because I've been on a pill for so long, my body didn't need much adjusting to Yasmin, nor did I notice any HUGE side effects. Although, after reading some reviews, I have noticed that I feel more sensitive emotionally now since being on Yasmin. I don't feel like I get mood swings per se where I'm mad, more like it's easier for me to cry for something I normally wouldn't have cried so easily before. Also, I've noticed more frequent migraine headaches, and my hair is thinner, but despite this, I think it's still the best one for me out there. They all have pros, cons, and risks!"

For Acne "I am 25 years old and I have been taking Yasmin for about 5 years now. I found it very good, no menstrual pain, 5 days period. It also helped in somewhat of a way with my acne. I gained a few pounds, as some people say, in the right places, but lately I find it's making me cranky and nauseous. Because of that, I am thinking of trying a new pill."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Yasmin now for around 9 months non-stop, and I’m going to stop it forever! Sisters, I advise you to not take such pills, because side effects are really there! I’m having mood changes daily, I fight with my husband for nothing, and my sexual drive is getting low as well. I’m overemotional and making drama for small things. Those things are nothing compared to my breast pain now and strong headaches. Before taking any pills, just think and talk to your Dr!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Yasmin about 6 months ago, and at the start, the only negative side effect I noticed was my skin broke out for about a month before completely clearing up. I didn’t have weight gain other than going up a bra size - so physically it looked like everything was great. HOWEVER, I have been extremely emotional, crying all the time over the smallest things, which is unlike me, and I find it hard to get in positive spirits once the mood swing hits. The most surprising side effect (which I didn’t link to the pill until recently) is my sex drive is almost non-existent, and when I do have sex, it hurts incredibly due to dryness. I am 25 and have never had this issue before, and due to the timing of it, I am confident that it is Yasmin causing these problems."

For Birth Control "I’m 33 and have been on the Yasmin pill for 3 months now, and I have to say I’m really happy with it! I am a bit more emotional and sad, but nothing out of the ordinary for me. Lol. Little discharge here and there, shorter and lighter periods, and no cramps, which is amazing. My skin is clear, and my boobs have grown also. I do recommend this, but keep in mind every pill has different effects for everyone :)"

For Birth Control "I love it while I’m on it, but on the week’s break, I feel genuinely insane. I will start on anyone, cry for no reason, and have no impulse control. I never manage the full 7-day break because the mood swings are so much."

For Acne "I'm 17, and I started Yasmin 4 months ago as I broke out in acne, and I also had PCOS. This is not good when you do modeling, I was devastated. The doctor also started me on antibiotics to give the pill a chance to kick in. I have mood swings, but I think that's pretty normal for a teenager. I haven't really changed in my weight, but the great thing is my acne has cleared up, I can go without makeup now. I still get pimple breakouts every now and then, but that's also a normal teenage thing. The doctor wants to change me to a milder pill soon, but if I break out again, I will be asking to go back on Yasmin."

For Birth Control "I’m having the worst experience with Yasmin. I started taking it in March, and I almost immediately experienced the side effects, but I thought it would get better once my body adjusted to it. For a while, I was better, and out of nowhere, things changed. I am overly emotional, I cry all the time, I have zero control over my emotions, I’m sad and depressed, and it’s started to affect my relationship 'cause I’m starting to lash out at my boyfriend. I’m insecure and jealous, and I believe the tricks that my mind is playing on me. I’m overly sensitive and take things way too personally. I have no control over my thoughts whatsoever, and I have really dark thoughts. Today was my last day on the pill, definitely would not recommend it. Avoid it at all costs for your peace of mind."

For Birth Control "Awful pill! I started taking this pill three months ago, as my previous pill was making me hypersensitive to the sun (Gedarel). I think I'd rather live like a vampire than try and cope with the mood swings from this pill. My poor fiancé has even mentioned how bad my mood swings have been, and it makes me feel awful being so up and down all the time. I am going to change it this week and hopefully be more successful with the next one. I am a very happy-go-lucky person, and this pill is the worst I have ever been on. I have been on Micro 30, Dianette, and Gedarel in the past 7 years, and this one is by far the worst. My sister is on this one too, and she is fine, so it just goes to show how individual it can be to react to certain pills."

For Birth Control "I was having a horrible time on Ocella, which, contrary to what your local pharmacist will tell you, is NOT the same as Yasmin. So my doctor switched me to Yasmin, and the first month was great, no more horrible mood swings, I was almost on a euphoric high. The second month, I completely crashed. I started having hot flashes, mood swings, ovarian pain, hair loss, anxiety, and a general feeling of non-well-being. Aside from that, my period was fine, not too bad."

For Acne "I had horrible side effects of these pills: nausea, feeling depressed, low sex drive, vaginal dryness, feeling bloated, cravings, long period (3 weeks). I did not feel like myself at all. I was very down. My mind felt foggy. But the worst of all was my skin. Oh my goodness. It got so many times worse! I got huge red cystic bumps. They were so bad I did not want to go to work, and people would comment on my skin. I could not continue and decided to quit just after two months! I kid you not - my skin got better as soon as I stopped taking these! I have barely had a pimple since. I'm so sad that I started with Yasmin as I have horrible scars now. The effect, though, is very individual and I hope you have a much better experience than me!"

For Acne "I went on Yasmin after being on the Depo injection for a few years, which made my mild acne more like moderate-severe. The Yasmin gradually cleared my skin completely, and I'm so happy with the results (I've been on it for 3-4 years now). The only thing is that I'm also using it as BC, and I think over the last few years, it has given me bad mood swings, some depression, and massively decreased my libido, which have all affected my relationship. I'm now looking into the Mirena IUS as my Dr. is worried about me staying on Yasmin as my family has a history of breast cancer, but I'm so worried progesterone-only options will make my acne come back. I found Yasmin perfect for acne treatment, but it had some unexpected negatives for me personally."

For Acne "I have previously been on Yasmin for around 8 years. Before this, I was taking Dianette. Yes, the Yasmin pill was an effective treatment for controlling my acne, but I didn't realize while taking it that I was actually suffering from side effects. These included a huge appetite, constant fatigue, migraines, mild depression, anxiety, mood swings, and the rare side effect of excessive sweating. I have since come off the pill now for 4 months and all these issues have slowly resolved, although the depression and anxiety increased for 2 months after coming off. My acne has returned with vengeance at the age of 28, and my hair has thinned a lot because of all the hormonal changes. DON'T TAKE IT! YOU WILL PROBABLY REGRET IT IN THE LONG RUN!"

For Birth Control "I have never wanted to go back in time more so than I do now. Been on Yasmin for 8/9 years, and my hair has thinned immensely while being on it. I have now decided to stop because the side effects far outweigh the benefits. It is probably the worst thing anyone can put in their body. One month off the pill, and the hair loss has begun when it thinned my hair to begin with. Acne has begun when I never had it before. Mood swings, it caused depression, anxiety, and a slew of other harmful effects."
