For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "So far, I really like Yasmin. I had a mild problem with acne and serious mood swings. I was also having a significant amount of dark, coarse facial hair due to low amounts of estrogen. I've seen improvements in all three areas. I started taking Yasmin on the second day of my period, and by the third day, my period was gone. The only downer is that it makes me really tired. I'm always a little cranky because I'm sleepy. It seems as though Yasmin is good for a lot of other problems young women have, and it's just a plus that it prevents pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been on Yasmin for 11 and a half years. At first, I didn't have any problems. But over the last few years, I have noticed terrible things happening each month. First, it was spotting, breast tenderness, mood swings, sadness, headaches, irritability, you know, the small little things. But more severely, I have heart palpitations, dizziness, and now high blood pressure."

For Birth Control "I didn't think there was a problem, no immediate reactions, 2 years, and I'd put on 15 lb without changing my lifestyle. My (mild) acne seemed to improve, and it was great being in control of my periods. Then I became moody, emotional, combative, and depressed. Really depressed. I had migraines, at least 3 attacks a month, I had hypertension. And because I had put on so much weight, I was trying to lose it, playing football 3 times a week and going to the gym 2 times a week, no big difference, and I ate less than my slim friends. I don't smoke. I had hypertension (185/135 being the highest reading). I stopped taking it, and now I feel better, lost 10kg, happier, blood pressure is normal. Now I have polycystic ovaries, I blame that pill."

For Birth Control "I was given Yasmin by my pharmacist because the pill I usually take was out of stock. The three weeks I was on it, I became incredibly depressed. I already have a history of mental illness and depression, but before recently had been doing well. Taking Yasmin affected my mental health incredibly. By the third week, my anxiety was at an all-time high, I was suffering horrible mood swings, I was crying on and off daily, and I was beginning to suffer suicidal thoughts. I stopped taking the pill a couple of days ago and already feel an improvement. I am never taking this again. The last three weeks have been awful. I am also disappointed in my pharmacist for not warning against this and just providing it as an alternative to the pill I was previously taking, which never resulted in these side effects. If you have a history of depression or mental illness, DO NOT TAKE THIS!!!!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Yasmin for 2 years now and never had any problems with it. 10/10 effective for birth control for me, but then again I’m very conscious of taking mine at the same time every day. Although in the past 6 months, I get really bad mood swings, and that’s the only thing I could fault it on."

For Acne "This combined pill is a dream! I've been on it for 7 years, and I have recommended it to everyone. My skin is clearer, my weight didn't change, no mood swings. I tried Lucette and was a crying mess. It often takes trying a few pills to find one that suits you."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using Yasmin for over a year now, and it’s cleared my skin and lightened my heavy periods, as that was the reason I had to go on it. But I cannot stop crying?!? Like I never would’ve been like that before, and now I never want to go anywhere or go out. I feel like I’ve pushed all my friends away. I just feel irritated that I’m so emotional and that I can’t do anything to help the situation, it’s so frustrating. Honestly, it’s a hit or miss for everyone, but there are more good days than bad days, which is a plus. I just feel a bit depressed and stressed out about every small thing and get worked up over nothing. But I don’t think I’d be able to stop taking it because it has done what it was supposed to as my periods have decreased a lot in cramps and duration. It would last a week, but with the pill, it lasts 4 days at the most!"

For Birth Control "At first on Yasmin, I didn’t notice anything different with my moods, as I had been on a different pill before Yasmin for 4 months. But then I started to become more aware that I was having no energy to do anything. Anytime I got my period, I would get extreme cramps, which I never did before. I was just feeling so sad because of this pill. I’ve cried an abnormal amount of times, definitely not usual for me. My mood swings are atrocious as well, and since I’ve a boyfriend at the moment, I’m crying and getting annoyed over the smallest things. Long story short, AVOID this pill. The only good it did was not make me put on weight and make my skin clear."

For Birth Control "I have been using Yasmin now for about 6 months and absolutely love it. It has cleared my skin so much, giving me much more confidence. I don’t experience any headaches, mood swings, or anything bad at all really. Also, my boobs have gotten bigger since taking it, which is a bonus. I know it’s a 21-day pill and you are meant to have a period on it, however, as I have quite heavy periods, I asked the doctor if I could just take it back to back without having a break for a period. I was told this was fine by 2 doctors and that it would not affect me whatsoever in the future of family planning!"

For Birth Control "I have been on a number of pills in the past (aged 28, started 18) - I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, so my reasoning for remaining on some sort of hormonal BC was vital to reduce the symptoms. I was placed on Yasmin after experiencing major mood swings/depression on Yaz. Yasmin seemed to reduce these mood swings considerably. Since Yasmin, my periods, although regular, have been light and cramping has been reduced/completely absent. Amazing! (5 years on it now). I have been getting migraines for the last 2 years, so I might have to change my BC again. One's body changes with age, I guess our meds need to, too."

For Birth Control "Before Yasmin, I was on the implant that contains only progesterone. This gave me terrible acne, so I decided to switch to Yasmin as it is renowned for clearing up skin. It worked straight away and has given me the clearest skin I've ever had in my life! People even said my skin looked 'translucent.' This reason alone made me continue taking it for over 3 years. Over the last year, I noticed that I was experiencing very severe premenstrual syndrome with symptoms of irrational anger and being teary and emotional most of the time. This progressed into terrible depression that I have never experienced before. The sadness and dark thoughts were unrelenting. I then switched to Cilique, and since switching, I feel much happier and have a clear head space. This is likely because Cilique has a higher level of estrogen. In summary, I would recommend taking this pill only for a year, 2 years maximum."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have been on Yaz for 2 months now to fix my newly discovered hormonal imbalance. I felt the effects of the pill after a week. I am far more emotional and am seriously depressed. Major mood swings. On a happier note, my periods are regular and last 4 days with little cramping and little to no bloating. Above all, I do not feel myself. Once my 3-month trial is done, I'm definitely going to explore my options and steer away from birth control. I do not feel myself anymore."

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmin a year now, and honestly, if your doctor offers you this pill, say no. They don't tell you about the really bad mood swings you get, or the anger attacks, or the anxiety and depression, and even the nausea I get every day. I am now suffering from all of this because of Yasmin. I never knew how bad my anger was until my partner said about how bad it actually was. I've only just realized that my anger has been ridiculous over the past months. If any of you are experiencing these things, I'd suggest you stop taking Yasmin and go back to your doctors for another pill. It is dangerous."

For Acne "I am currently in my 2nd week of my 6th month on Yasmin, and I think it’s fair to say that yes, it has cleared up my acne significantly. The 2nd month was where my skin blew up, but I stayed determined, and towards the 4th month, I began to see a few improvements. The only thing I dislike is the amount of scarring/discoloration left on my skin from the trauma of month 2. I am seeing a dermatologist soon because now I’m not self-conscious about my acne, but the scarring, which is complicated to remove. Mood swings have been relatively fine, and my weight is pretty much the same."

For Acne "Leaving a review because when I was deciding whether to go on this for my cystic acne, I was obsessed with these reviews. I am very happy with the results. I am on Lucette, the UK equivalent of Yasmin. The first couple of months, my skin did break out more, but over the third packet, my skin has cleared up, and I haven’t got a single cyst except for on my week off, and it disappeared after one night instead of like two weeks. Everyone’s body is different, but for me, I lost weight, got bigger boobs, and clearer skin. I was nervous to start because of the initial bad side effects, which I did get, such as breakouts and bad mood swings, but I’m grateful I went through that now for these results :) hopefully it sticks! Good luck."

For Birth Control "I switched from Microgynon to Yazmin due to suffering from almost all terrible side effects, including fatigue, loss of libido, and mood swings. I have had 4 packs of Yazmin so far. In the first three months, I felt a lot better. I was happier and even had better libido. However, starting from the 4 packs, I started to have some side effects. I am slowly losing my libido and becoming moody. Yet, my breasts seem to be bigger, I had shorter and lighter periods, and I haven't had breast pain and fatigue at all."

For Birth Control "Yasmin works great for me! I’ve been on it for about 6 months. During the second and third month of being on it, I was experiencing nausea and heavy periods. I decided to stick it out though! My periods are now back to normal, and I don’t experience nausea. I haven’t gained any weight on this birth control, I’ve actually lost a few pounds. It’s a very reliable birth control. A lot of people say something about losing their sex drive, this could be because of the mood swings a lot of people experience. You just have to let your body get used to the new hormones being placed into it. I love this birth control!"

For Birth Control "I've tried going on Yasmin twice before after being on different pills (I changed because of weight gain), but never lasted more than 3 days on it because of the intense mood swings on it. This is the third time trying it, and I'm just going on a week, and I've never felt worse in my life. I get major mood swings, feel like I'm always on the verge of crying, getting easily irritated, getting jealous/paranoid, and have a strange feeling of 'self-awareness.' I'm not happy and will be changing back to the previous pill as soon as possible. Seems to have worked well with others, but for me, it's been a nightmare."

For Acne "Yasmin cleared my acne!!!! I had super stubborn, pretty severe hormonal acne for over a year. Coupled with 150 mg spironolactone, Yasmin truly healed my acne. It took longer than I had hoped, and I almost gave up because I thought it wasn’t working. It took 3-4 months for it to start healing. Now I’m on month 6, and it’s the best it has been in a year. The emotional fluctuations the first few months are really hard. I felt out of control and very volatile for a lot of the acclimation period. Don’t give up—if hormones are the root of your acne, this is likely your solution."

For Acne "I started taking this drug because of moderate to severe adult acne (I am 28) and PMS symptoms (severe depression episodes and irritability that happened like clockwork the week before menstruation). I have been on the pill a month and a half, and I have already seen an improvement. Regarding acne, I broke out a little bit in the placebo week, but besides that, I no longer get the severe acne I used to. I expected it to take at least a few months, so I was pleasantly surprised to see an effect. I also had a light period and did not notice mood swings. I had breakthrough bleeding during the first few weeks, at the beginning more severe and diminishing with time. On the second cycle, there is no bleeding anymore."

For Birth Control "After years of suffering with PMDD, I persuaded my GP to let me try Yasmin as a last-ditch attempt at trying to have a normal life on birth control, but to help the severity of my periods. I agree with some of the comments on here about mood swings, but I also think that is due to my own level of hormones and that if you stick with it after a while, this pill does work!! I have found my happy medium, which is 10 mg of Citalopram (AD) and this pill combined... I feel happy and myself all the time, and although maybe a tiny bit irritable prior to my period... generally a lot happier!! Go Yasmin! :)"

For Acne "I'm 16, and I started taking Yasmin in August for polycystic ovarian syndrome. My acne was quite bad, mainly on my cheeks and chin, where I'd get big clusters of spots. I also had many small bumps on my forehead. In the first month, there was no difference in my skin. By the third month, I could start to see some improvement in my skin, and the severity of my acne had gone down. By the fourth month, I was amazed!! It took about a week into the 4th pack before I only had a few spots on my chin left, and no new spots were forming. I'm on the 5th month now and only have a small spot on my chin and have been left with scars that are healing. I'm so happy with the results, but I experienced terrible mood swings, which are improving. Overall, very happy!"

For Birth Control "It did its job by not getting me pregnant, however, I gained a lot of weight. I also had terrible mood swings. One time I cried for two hours and couldn't stop. I was on Yaz for about 6 months, and I still had terrible mood swings, so I switched to Loestrin and have been very happy so far."

For Birth Control "This pill is MAGIC - I have tried multiple pills, Rivegdon, Microgynon, etc., all of which have given me horrible mood swings to the point of feeling depressed. Fast forward 2 years, birth control free, I was prescribed Yasmin to treat my acne. Within 3 months, my skin was the best it had ever been, it suppresses my appetite, so I've lost weight (gone from size 8 to 6), and it's literally saving my relationship. I used to be a horrible, moody, clingy cow and was pushing my boyfriend away. This pill has taken the 'edge' off that usual PMT rage and has just been an overall godsend. If you can get this from your GP, I would recommend it, however, everybody is different and may have a different experience than me."
