Doxylamine / pyridoxine for Nausea/Vomiting of Pregnancy "I started taking Diclegis at 7 weeks (was totally against medicine, but the nausea was unbearable). I was so glad I did try it because it worked like magic. Huge difference the following day if I didn't take it at night. It also helped with my moodiness and oversensitivity to smell. 11 weeks later, I am discontinuing use of it - hoping I can manage the symptoms myself. I did not get side effects at first, but about 9-10 weeks into taking it (16-17 weeks of pregnancy), I started to lose sleep at night and stay tired all day. Since not taking Diclegis, I can sleep at night now. I think my body just got used to it and started to react with hyperactivity. Also noticed reduced fetal movement while taking it versus not."

Doxylamine / pyridoxine for Nausea/Vomiting of Pregnancy "Third pregnancy, and Zofran wasn't cutting it for me. Midwife prescribed Diclegis - felt insanely better the next morning nausea-wise, but was super fatigued. If you miss a dose, it will rock your world. For the first few days, it knocked me out all night and made me feel sleepy all morning. Now I seem to be experiencing the insomnia/nightmares side effects, and it's not fun. I'm hoping in a couple of weeks I can wean off of it because I generally feel better a couple of weeks into the second trimester. Definitely think the nausea aid is worth the side effects, though - guess it all depends on how bad your nausea/vomiting is - and if this works for you!"

Doxylamine / pyridoxine for Nausea/Vomiting of Pregnancy "I was afraid to take any medication, but my nausea was so bad that I was left with no choice. It didn’t seem to work the first week because I didn’t take it as prescribed, because it made me so sleepy, and I still had to work and take care of my other two kids. I buckled down and took it morning, noon, and night as prescribed. The nausea finally let up, and I felt much better, but I never really felt like myself. I was low on energy and just felt foggy. My stomach would rumble every time I ate or drank anything. I had anxiety about leaving the house because I always felt that I had to use the bathroom, but I was constipated. I listened to my body and stopped taking the medication for a few days, and I felt like myself again, energetic and clear, but that didn’t last long. Once that medicine moved out of my body, I got sick as a dog. I’m taking the pills again, but here come the side effects: insomnia, nightmares, lightheadedness, and fatigue. I hope the constipation doesn’t come back."

For Nausea/Vomiting of Pregnancy "I took at first just Unisom and B6 self-dosed, then Bonjesta around week 9. Bonjesta was GREAT! The controlled time-release amount didn't make me feel perceptibly sleepy or drowsy (I took just one at night, though) and essentially cleared all morning sickness symptoms. Anytime I missed a dose, I felt sick the next day, so I figured I was not out of the woods (this is my first pregnancy). Others (doctor, etc.) agreed and thought I was just still experiencing morning sickness, but I now strongly believe it was withdrawal. Sure enough, at week 19, I finally cut it cold turkey. Day 1: hangover symptoms (I ate a detox diet, it helped). Day 1 evening, chills began. Day 1 night, threw up intensely for an hour. Day 2-3: hangover and stomach recovery, insomnia, headaches. Day 4-5: stomach recovery, but energy back. Beyond: normal! Not everyone gets withdrawal, but if you do-you know your body! Trust your instincts and plan for a few rough days, but you'll get through it."

Doxylamine / pyridoxine for Nausea/Vomiting of Pregnancy "I started taking this medication three weeks ago, and it works great for morning sickness, but they don't tell you the risks. They say it is safe for both you and the baby, yet I started having severe chest and back pain and had blood work done over and over, and they told me I was fine. But I hadn't had a bowel movement in almost two weeks, and I was in so much pain I couldn't get out of bed. But I found out it was the reason for all my problems: restless sleep, chest pain, back pain, not being able to stand or take care of my children. It was not worth the pain and the suffering, and imagine what your baby is going through if you're in all that pain. There is a reason it was off the market for 30 years."
