Diclofenac topical "My doctor sent me home diclofenac patches, however, since they’re not covered by my insurance and cost way too much to pay for out of pocket ($300 too much), he called in a prescription for the gel. The patches worked awesome, and the gel I’m NOT a fan of at all. I have bursitis in my right hip and a large annulus tear in my lower back, and my skin where I rub the gel has become overly sensitive and painful to touch."

"I was skeptical that a topical application would be effective. I've used Biofreeze my chiropractor recommended, which was OK but not great. Got a generic form of Solaraze from the pharmacy in a pump dispenser, which makes measuring the gel quick and easy. My mid back aches vanished after the first application. Left hip pain disappeared after the first application. Lower back pain has eased, so I will continue to apply until the pain is further reduced and hopefully eliminated. Once my low back is better, I'll apply on my right knee and neck. I have multi-level degenerative disks with some stenosis. Had back pain since my 20s, now in my mid-fifties. This is one of the most effective treatments to date."

Diclofenac topical "I've been using Voltaren Gel for more than 10 years for osteoarthritis pain on the tops of my feet (metatarsal bones) and my ankles. I don't use it every day, but I use it 'as needed' for extreme foot pain. I only need to use it once a day, generally. Sometimes twice a day if I have been walking or standing for a long period of time. It relieves my pain very quickly - usually within 30-60 minutes after applying the gel to the tops of my feet and my ankles. I have not experienced any adverse side effects. I am 72 years old and had to have partial knee replacements on both legs when I was in my early 50s. (I'm not sure if Voltaren was available in gel form 20 years ago, but my orthopedic doctor did not prescribe it to treat my knee pain. Happy that I had the knee replacements when I was young enough to make a full, speedy recovery from the surgery!) I am allergic and sensitive to many drugs, but I have not had any allergic reactions to Voltaren Gel."

"For five years, my knee has caused severe problems, and I have had to use a brace or bandage when on my feet. After having a large mass removed from my leg, the knee got worse and was swollen until I couldn't walk without a cane or walker. I went to the doctor to see if I could get a shot to help me walk, and he gave me a tube of Voltaren Gel to use. I came home, put it on the knee, and propped my leg up for an hour. When I was ready to get up, I dreaded it because I just knew I was going to be in horrible pain again. But the pain was almost all gone. I couldn't believe that a simple gel could have that effect so fast, but it did! This product is worth its weight in gold! No cane for two days now!"

Diclofenac topical "My opinion of this topical medicine is far different from everyone else's. I've been using it for a torn meniscus regularly for two months, and I see absolutely no difference. I might as well be putting body butter on my knee. I'm very tuned into medicines, every little side effect and whether it works or doesn't, and this stuff is phony baloney."

"I have osteoarthritis, and I have been using the gel for a few days now, and when it was first prescribed, I thought, 'No way a topical cream is going to take away the serious pain in my knees.' I was shocked when I felt the dull numbing feeling it gave me pretty much instantly. However, as much as I love the relief I feel... it really doesn't last long. I am a very busy full-time hairstylist and mom of 3, and I feel like I need to apply more than 4 times a day. I'm afraid to take my Motrin 800 with it, not sure it is safe to combine them. But overall, I am very grateful I finally have something that works!"

"I have ulcers, so I can't take ANY oral NSAIDs, or aspirin, or any blood-thinning medication. I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees, back, shoulders, elbows, feet, neck, and back. I am only 24, and I also have fibromyalgia. I have been using Voltaren cream for 3 years, and it is wonderful. My opiate pain medication helps so much, but in between doses, I use the cream to get by. Without it, I can't function at a normal level, and it hurts too much to cook, shower, or do any basic activity. I have had no side effects. Although, after I shave, it burns to put it on my knees, but that's just because I had just shaved."

"Can't even open the tube. Have a friend with severe allergies (multiple chemical sensitivity). Between the alcohol and fragrance, it cannot be opened in the home. Then read all the side effects. Wish I had known this before I purchased it. Thankfully, insurance paid for it."

Diclofenac topical "I have moderately severe arthritis in both thumb joints. Voltaren gel seems to at least work well enough that I can do my normal recreation (hiking and fly fishing) in relative comfort with only slight pain. The multi-day dosage buildup to get to the point where it helps is a little tedious. I wish it worked quicker. But it does work and is worth the mild unpleasantness of how goopy it is and the fact that it smells almost identical to the old 6-12 brand insect repellent I used back in the '60s."

Diclofenac topical "Didn’t treat my pain at all. Instead, I experienced three of the side effects. I used it for two days and developed an incredibly itchy, raised rash that I had to see a dermatologist for. I also had excessive night sweats and shortness of breath. Worthless medication."

"I have been in pain with my knee for years. The pain got so bad I couldn't walk. My primary care physician referred me to an ortho doctor. That took X-rays and diagnosed me with arthritis, but the worst was bone on bone. He gave me a shot of cortisone, which didn't help much. Then 3 shots of gel injections. Again, not much relief, but scheduled a total knee replacement. I did pre-op exercises, and I was told about (Voltaren) Diclofenac sodium topical gel. I find this product amazing. I have since had the surgery and at 5 weeks post-op, I can bend my knee at 120 degrees. Without diclofenac, I wouldn't be able to have these results. I am 67 years old and 255 lbs. At my age and size, exercise was never my favorite thing to do. With diclofenac, I am able to get around better than pre-op, but I have a long way to go to be totally pain-free. Thank you, Diclofenac."

Diclofenac topical "I have neck, knee, and lower back issues. My doctor gave me samples after the gel stopped working well. It did nothing for my neck but burned it. As for my lower back and knee pain, it went away a little for like 30 minutes, then everything was back hurting and in discomfort. Guess it's just not for me."

Diclofenac topical "So far, I'm unimpressed. I've been using it for heel pain, and Pennsaid has not provided adequate pain relief. It makes the pain symptoms worse. However, it seems to be effective for knee pain. I have had better results with Voltaren without the exorbitant price tag."

"Voltaren works! I have been on every pain-relieving drug on the market... when inflammation is the problem, NSAIDs are not the answer when the problem is severe. You trade in joint pain for gastritis. Yikes! Voltaren relieves acute joint pain with fewer side effects than Advil. Yeah!"

Diclofenac topical "This gives me the best relief for my knee and actually helps my fingers and knuckles when applying the product, which are also bad and arthritic. It is much better than taking NSAIDs, which are bad for the intestinal tract."

"Both my husband and I have moderate osteoarthritis in our hands and back. We wake up very stiff and sore... until we apply Voltaren. Within 5 minutes, the pain is gone, and we are ready to get to work! We really appreciate this medicine, which allows us to drink our morning coffee and plan a normal workday."

Diclofenac topical "Pennsaid is the best. I have been using it for years on my arthritic knees with 100% positive results. When I retired and no longer had private insurance, I had a rude awakening. Medicare doesn’t cover it, and because I have Medicare, I don’t qualify for any coupons. I tried Voltaren, which doesn’t work. According to Medicare, it is the same. Well… it didn’t work, so I have been lucky so far to get samples. Some things need to change for retirees."

"I can move far more freely, I feel so much younger, I can run upstairs with no pain, so I tend to stay and feel fitter. I am generally much happier with my lot. I go off it for weeks at a time to give my body a chance to recover from any ill effects like stomach rupturing (bleeding, etc.), then I go back on it again and enjoy the results. I think it makes me feel tired in the early evenings, but it's worth that inconvenience. I refuse to endure a life of continual discomfort. I take it with Losec to reduce the risk of stomach damage and would highly recommend it."

Diclofenac topical "Used Voltaren gel on both arthritic knees for 21 days, 4x/day in hopes of dancing again as shown in the commercial of the guy able to dance again. Well, if I only wanted to dance for less than 3 weeks total, my rating would be 10 stars! Was mostly pain-free from 5th thru 21st day of use plus 3 days after stopping. Morning of 4th day, was as if I had never used it. So disappointing! Not worth bothering!"

Diclofenac topical "I have been using it for two weeks. It has helped me. I use it as directed. It is a process to help your knees improve. I already can walk smoother and faster and feel more secure than I have in a long time. I would recommend it. I don’t feel I have had any side effects from it. I am 79 years old and like to stay busy."
