"Worst birth control ever! Takes away your sex drive completely, and even when you stop taking it, sex drive is still off. I read a review about a girl who had this symptom for years after stopping. I hope that isn’t my case. It’s been four months since I've stopped taking this and still dealing with it. I do not recommend! If it were up to me, Cyred wouldn’t even be sold anymore."

"I was terrified to try this due to the reviews, but so far I’ve experienced absolutely nothing terrible, except nausea, but only on the first day, and my skin is starting to clear up, and I have severe cystic acne. I will update after taking it for a longer time."

"Been on this birth control for about a year and a half and never really had any notable side effects until about 4 months ago when I started to notice something was different. My acne came back and was worse than it was before I even started the medication, I’m always stressed and have the worst anxiety, constant migraines, mood swings, complete loss of sex drive, depression, bloating and cramping, loss of motivation, you name it, I’ve gotten it as a side effect. More recently (these past couple of weeks), I’ve been constantly nauseous and have been throwing up almost nonstop. It’s been so bad I’ve had to call out of work. I do not recommend this birth control. DON'T TAKE THIS."

"I have been on this birth control for two months now. At first, it was crazy. Constant mood swings. Bad acne. I was not having it. I don’t mind Cyred right now because it’s not like other birth controls I’ve taken where I’m constantly hungry all the time and gaining weight. But I don’t like how I still get acne as if I wasn’t on it, even with my skin care routine that I’ve had for months and I’ve never had a problem with. I don’t like how I PMS way worse than ever before, and honestly, I don’t like how my breasts got bigger, it honestly made me worry, and now my bras don’t fit. This isn’t a birth control I would suggest, I’m only on it because I can get it through Planned Parenthood and I can’t afford anything else right now."

"Cyred seemed to be a very good option at first. No weight gain, no effects on acne (I saw no difference regarding breakouts), and I was able to stop my periods altogether, this led me to being hospitalized. This pill in particular contributed to the formation of a large blood clot, which was almost fatal for me. So for the reasons mentioned, I wouldn't recommend this one."

"This birth control ruined my life. I developed extreme anxiety that went away after stopping it. I would break out in pimples that looked like hives under my eyes, got worse every month. I gained a dramatic amount of weight. Stay far away. It’s a generic brand, and according to a doctor I spoke with, it has inactive ingredients that cause all the side effects. Apri is the only one that works for me."

"Pt. 1: This birth control started ruining my life. I only took it for 3 weeks because I couldn't stand it anymore. Literally, on day 3, I started getting powerful migraines, I couldn't sleep from them, my eyes would tear up, I started taking at least 4 Advil daily for them to be bearable. Then, I started feeling like pure rubbish, even more depressed than before. I wanted to slap everyone around me. You couldn't even talk to me. Now, on to my face. My face broke out like pure hell. I've been off of it for a week, and the breakouts on my jaw (and even around my nose, which never happened) are plentiful and so red."

"I've been using Cyred for about three weeks now, and it's doing a great job at preventing pregnancy, which is its main use for me. But I've been having terrible mood swings and depression from this pill. I've been on two other birth control pills, and they never gave me the mood swings and depression that Cyred has. With this being said, I'm going to stick it out for at least 2 months, since it takes 2-3 months for your body to even regulate the hormones out. I'm hoping this gets better."

"I have been taking birth control for about 2 years now, and I've taken probably 5-6 different pills. This experience was so bad that I wanted to write a review. I never had any side effects with any other pill; my body tends to adjust to the hormones well. This pill was another story. Three weeks in, I noticed the mood swings: depressed, fussy, and grumpy for a few days when nothing is wrong. And not to mention, weight gain was real with this one. My appetite has increased so much. I honestly cannot stop eating. I've gained probably 5-10 pounds in the last week or two."

"This is the worst birth control I've ever been on. I am 25, and for 11 years, I never had side effects. Cyred made me extremely sick; my entire body was constantly swelling and aching. I had breast discharge, my moods were more unstable than they had been from any psychiatric medication before. My skin broke out and hurt; I gained a lot of weight."

"I had previously been on the patch, but I decided to switch to the pill because I didn't like how visible the patch was. I was prescribed Cyred, and BOY, did that take a downhill turn. I assumed my body wouldn't have trouble adjusting since I had already been on BC for a while. I started taking Cyred, and immediately I had random nausea, but nothing too horrible. I was getting a little moody too, crying more and noticing I was getting sad more often...but then it got worse. I have never struggled with depression before, but about 3 weeks into this pill pack, I was feeling severely depressed. It started interfering with my day-to-day life so much that I just stopped taking the birth control in the middle of a pack. I know it is different for everyone, but this pill caused me to have a really rough patch in my life for a couple of months. Yes, it does its job in preventing pregnancy, but along with that can come serious side effects."

"The first couple of weeks definitely took some getting used to. My stomach was upset, especially before getting my period, and I would feel super bloated way before my period was due. I’m almost 4 months in, and the upset stomach and bloating have stopped except during actual periods. Other than that, I really like it."

"I started this birth control four weeks ago. Two or three days after being on it, I started to feel weird, blurry and sensitive vision, felt dizzy every day, and worst of all, anxiety. My anxiety increased every day being on it. I have never had an anxiety problem, but with this pill, I was always on edge, intrusive thoughts 24/7, scared of everything, never wanting to leave my house. I had eight panic attacks in the span of two weeks and no exaggeration, these panic attacks were real and scary. I thought, “Oh, my body is just getting used to the changes, I’ll be okay.” But I couldn’t push through, it’s not worth it. I would rather get pregnant than feel the way I did. Everyone’s different and won’t have the same experience, but if you do, just know you are not alone, the mental and physical exhaustion. I finally stopped taking it three days ago, and I can tell you today I feel like myself again. My anxiety has magically disappeared like nothing, and I’m starting to feel healthier."

"I started this pill a little over 2 weeks ago, and I was completely fine the first week. Around 6 days ago, I have been very weak and very tired. I’m having the worst headaches every day, and I can’t even get out of bed half the time. I’ve been using ibuprofen for it, it doesn’t help. I’m going off the pill, and I hope this helps everyone thinking about going on this pill."

"Pt. 2: My face still hasn't calmed down. The last bad side effect... I've gained weight. In the matter of 3 weeks, idk how it can work so fast, but my mother sat me down one day and asked me why I look... like a balloon, and I just started crying. On the other hand, I had no spotting, my sex drive was still fine. I wish I could rate this -2000 and not just a 1."

"I’ve been on Cyred for probably a year and five months, I absolutely love this birth control pill. I have had problems with it, and I’m actually scared to even try another kind because of how good this pill is! I do have mood swings, but I think that’s just me, and I’ve already had acne problems before birth control, and for me, it calmed my acne down. I only really break out around the week I take off for my period. I would recommend this pill!"

"My first birth control ever to try from Planned Parenthood. The only good thing that came out of this was it cleared my acne, didn’t gain weight, and I had regular periods. Took me a good 2 years to figure out Cyred gave me mood swings. I would get very irritated really fast, and I would get angry most of the time. I thought it was just normal. Until I went on a trip and decided not to take the pills because of time zones and I was on the go and realized I was happy. Actually happy. That's when I realized Cyred caused all my mood swings and even my ex noticed the difference when I was off of the pills. Now I’m trying Tarine FE. Let’s see how that goes!"

"Probably the worst experience I've ever had on birth control. Mood swings, bad acne, loss of libido. Straight up miserable the whole 2 months I've been taking it. Prior to starting this pill, I was happy and confident in myself, and I had no acne at all. This pill pretty much ruined my life for the past 2 months. I hate it. Sure, it does its job and my periods were lighter, but it doesn't help that it makes me feel like dirt."

"The Cyred pill heightened my depression and anxiety. I've been on it for six months now. I was fine the first few months, but once I got to my fourth month using it, things got worse. It's a normal thing for me to cry myself to sleep now, and I am always so anxious. I know I'm not an angry person, but this pill has definitely made me one. Also, I never used to get cramps during my period, but now I do. It made me break out like crazy, but it's starting to clear up. The only thing I can't complain about is the fact that my periods are very regular now. Cyred was not good for me, so I have switched."

"I know a lot of people are saying that they are having tons of side effects, but I've had none! I maybe got a little bit more acne, but it's really nothing bad. I know every person will respond differently to medication, obviously, but for me, I've had a really great experience. I would recommend it!"

"I switched to Cyred after my last cycle. I’m almost done with the package, and my skin has broken out. I personally usually have very clear skin. I started getting nauseous in the second week, but it has gotten a bit better. I get anxiety every now and then and have several mood swings. Even though I have migraines, I haven't experienced headaches. Overall, it’s affecting my mood and skin in a bad way, so I don't think I’ll even open my next pack that I got. It also makes my stomach hurt really bad at times."

"I recently started Cyred. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (spelling? Lol) for a few years but realized it severely affected my depression and anxiety. I felt hopeless and decided to stop taking it. Now, taking Cyred, I have not had any issues with my depression and anxiety worsening (so thankful!!). The only side effects I have noticed were within my first 4 days of taking it, I would randomly get headaches or nausea. When I wasn't nauseous, I noticed an increase in my appetite, but nothing too out of control. Oh, and my acne is starting to clear up more."

"I was using a form of Cyred for 1 1/2 years that I LOVED. I could skip taking the placebo pills, and I wouldn't get my period or spot. It helped clear my skin, and I didn't notice any mood swings, weight gain, or anything like that. About 3 months ago, when I went to get a replenishment, my gyno said Cyred had changed to Cyred EQ or that was just what they had now, something like that. Anyway, for the past three or so months, I've been taking the 'EQ' version, still skipping the placebo pills in hopes of not getting a period. I did get a period the first month but thought whatever, to be expected when 'switching' birth controls. For the next month and a half, no period, no spotting. Now, for the past three weeks, I've been spotting regularly. It's not heavy, but I do need to wear a panty liner. It'll even stop for a day and then come right back, so it's been pretty annoying, and I'm really hoping that passes with time. Other than that, my skin is still okay and no abnormal moodiness."

"I have tried other pills and had crazy mood swings and breakthrough bleeding. I have been taking Cyred for over 1 year now, and I have not had the mood swings. I only had breakthrough bleeding when I was on antibiotics, so I would just be careful when on antibiotics. I have not had an issue with acne either, and I have oily/combination skin and work as a fry cook and deli clerk. This has been the BEST pill for me so far! Mostly because I don't get crazy mood swings on it, and I am a very emotional person to start with... I also haven't gotten pregnant on it. I have always struggled with anxiety and depression but won't take any traditional medicine for it. The pill does not seem to make any significant impact on my emotions. I only get super emotional when I am on the week I get my period. I take natural supplements for anxiety/depression if I am having a bad day, but the pill itself has not made my condition any worse."

"I've been on this birth control since September, and I haven't noticed too many side effects. I would get maybe a couple of zits a month before I started this, and it's about the same now, if a little better. I haven't gotten any increases in appetite or decreases in libido. One alarming (and EXPENSIVE) side effect I've noticed is that I've been hardcore spotting for the past almost 4 weeks. If it doesn't stop soon, I'll have to go in and switch to something else."
