"I normally never write reviews, but this acne medication warrants it. I suffered the worst breakout of my life in May. I had tried everything under the sun to get my acne better. I was embarrassed to go outside, my breakout was so bad. So, I went to the dermatologist, and they prescribed me Aczone. I put it on when I got home, and my acne started to get better pretty much right away. It still took a long time for my acne to get better-honestly, 4 months-but it did its job, and my skin has never been clearer. I would not have been able to break the acne cycle without Aczone."

"For me, Aczone worked better than anything else I have tried. I have cystic hormonal breakouts on my chin and jawline. I feel that it works very quickly and helps to prevent new acne from forming with twice daily use. It has no side effects and is non-drying."

"Aczone is a great medication, it worked for my acne years ago, and when I started breaking out badly, I recommended this to my new derm. I saw results around 3 months, my skin is all clear now, just have some PIH, which is fading every day. The Aczone also helps with hyperpigmentation, too. I use 7.5 morning and night and wait until it is dry before I apply my moisturizer. I am using Murad Skin Perfecting Oil-Free Moisturizer. I also take spironolactone 75 mg in the morning. Some nights I will apply tretinoin on top of my Aczone. I will continue to use Aczone forever. I know the first two months can be annoying when you’re trying this medication, and you are still breaking out, even I was losing faith in it! Aczone reaches its peak around month 3-4. But don’t stop, it is one of the few that works probably as good as Accutane!!"

"I always had acne through adolescence, and in my early 20s started developing painful cystic acne on my jawline and neck, particularly worsening prior to menstruation. All OTC treatments were completely useless to treat and manage this form of acne, and I was seriously considering Accutane. My dermatologist prescribed Aczone, and once I started regularly using it once a day, after about a month (i.e., not right away-it takes time to assess whether it's effective for you), I noticed a huge difference in my skin-less oily, essentially no acne. While the initial 'wow' effect has tapered off, I'm starting to get an occasional pimple prior to my period, my skin is still substantially improved. Worth a shot before going to Accutane."

"I have been using this for 1 week with an antibiotic called Solodyn (Minocycline). I have light acne, but my biggest problem was painful hormonal cysts on my chin, and this did not leave me dry like Retin-A did. I had noticeable results in just 1 week! With any skin issue, I know that results don't happen overnight, but I am so happy with this product that I had to review it!"

"I have struggled with cystic acne my whole life (I am now 26 yrs old), and was desperate to find a topical that was effective. Aczone has been a game changer for me! My breakouts have all but been eliminated-and when they do occur (hormonally), they are much smaller and last for a shorter duration. I use it once daily, and it does not leave my skin dry or oily like most other topical ointments."

"I cannot tell you how this product helped me. Background: I am 32 years old, never had acne until 30 years old. I went to the doctor and tried this out; it worked miracles. My face purged for about a month, but I let it do its thing. If you use this the way you are supposed to, then this should cure it. I have used it for about 2 months. Yes, my face got dry, it purged, it got red, but it goes away. If you wanna put makeup on after the cream, you must wait at least 30 minutes after application. I swear by this cream; my dermatologist, Dr. Brown. This cream takes time; you are not gonna see results right away. Just like any cream, machine (Clarisonic) needs to purge all your pimples and the ones that are embedded in your skin."

"I'm in my early 40s and have always had acne problems and sensitive skin. This has done miracles for me. I saw results within 3 days. It is worth the price. Other things broke me out and made the problem worse. I hate spending money on things that don't work. I am so glad to find something that does!"

"I am 28, have struggled with acne for 10 years, and this is the only product that has kept me consistently clear. While I have undergone 3 rounds of Accutane, the cystic acne on my chin always returned and eventually spread to my cheeks, leaving some mild scarring. Within two weeks of Aczone, I could see improvement, and within two months, I could go out without makeup again. While my skin is still not blemish-free (I still have a small blemish or two at any given time), this is nothing compared to how bad my skin was before Aczone and has given me back my confidence. I also love that this medication is gentle (unlike the Epiduo, which stung unbearably) and doesn't have the scary side effects of others (like Accutane). Highly recommend!!"

"I am a teenage boy that had one of the worst breakouts I've ever experienced at the start of my junior year. I normally had confidence, but this completely turned my life around. I couldn't even look at people in school, I just hung my head down. I went to my dermatologist, and she prescribed me Aczone (twice a day), Tazorac (once at night), and Kelflex (twice a day). My acne was really bad. After 2 weeks, I started seeing a difference, the huge bumps were going down! A few weeks later, my face was smooth but covered in dark spots. Each week it got better and better, now, about 14 weeks in, my face is almost completely clear. The small marks are still fading, but it is almost back to normal! Make sure you stick with it, it takes time!"

"I had been suffering from acne since puberty that progressively got worse as I aged. After trying every product on the shelves and still having no relief from the very painful acne around my chin, my dermatologist recommended this product, and my skin has never been better. I will admit it took 3-6 weeks before I really noticed any changes, but sticking to this product has not only treated all of my acne, it also helped with the scarring. I have even stopped wearing foundation altogether and receive many compliments on my complexion. My regimen is to wash and moisturize my face twice daily and apply the product nightly."

"I never had much acne as a teenager, but now I have developed breakouts almost constantly at 21. I have tried antibiotics and several prescribed ointments. They work for a time and then quit. I have used Aczone for 6 weeks, and it seemed to help for the first 4 weeks, and now the past 2 I have probably the worst breakouts of my life. I stopped using and just went back to Proactiv and prescribed Benzopack and have some improvement. I was hoping Aczone would be the answer for me, but it isn't."

"I have struggled with acne since I was 11 years old. I'm now 32 and tired of it. Every time I go off my birth control, I break out horribly, but I wanted to go off of it because I get migraines. I have tried almost everything. The only thing I haven't had is Accutane. My dermatologist gave me Aczone topical as well as topical erythromycin. I have been using both daily for about three months now, and this is my first month off my birth control. Well, I got my period today. Typically, right before I get my period, I break out horribly on my face, back, and chest. Not this time, though. I have 2 tiny bumps on my cheek and one on my back. I am amazed. I hope that it stays like this because honestly, it's a miracle! I have never had a topical medicine work before."

"Works great. CeraVe I noticed moisturizer and face wash, hydrating and foaming caused my skin to become irritated and break out. Vanicream gentle cleanser with Aczone worked wonderfully along with Cetaphil moisturizer with hyaluronic."

"35 years old, had bad acne on my cheeks and couldn't get rid of it with anything... Tried Aczone (morning) and Clindamycin (night), and acne has disappeared completely. It took about 6 weeks to see major results. Also, Aczone didn't irritate my skin and make it peel off."

"It works! I had just about had it with acne, and then after what seemed like forever, I went to the dermatologist, and she gave me Aczone. I've been using it for about a month, and almost everything is gone! Finally, something that works."

"I have suffered from cystic acne for almost 10 years. I've tried every topical known to man and not one, but two rounds of Accutane. But it still comes back. I started using Aczone once a day (at night) with a basic moisturizer and have noticed a phenomenal difference. It hasn't healed me because when I'm lazy refilling my prescription, my skin breaks out again. But at least I know it's working when I do use it. Only downside: it's expensive! Ask your derm for a coupon!"

"I never had pimples before, but once I turned 23, I was having pimples once in a while, and later it was covered on my cheeks. Nothing was working out for me, so I decided to see a dermatologist, and he recommended Aczone. I have started using it last November 2012 and am still using it. My face is fully cleared now, and it is smooth just like it was before with no spots. Although I do get pimples once in a while, but they just go away. Also, I don't use makeup much, maybe that's why it got cleared and looks nice. Overall, I love it, and I am glad that the doctor prescribed me this one. But I just don't know how long I should use it for because my tube is getting empty, and I won't get any more refills."

"Aczone is amazing. I have been using it for about three months now, along with Acanya gel and Doryx tablets. It has significantly reduced my acne. I am 17, with horrible breakouts around my mouth and chin. Aczone feels really fresh, and it doesn't make me peel. It shrinks my pimples. I still get breakouts, but not like the ones before the pimples. Now I get just little bumps and the occasional whitehead. One thing about Aczone that is weird to me is that if I don't apply moisturizer almost immediately after applying the Aczone, it makes some parts of my face white and others brownish. Overall, I love this product, and I hope my acne just keeps getting better."

"I have never written a review in my life but usually read other reviews for insight. I promised myself that if I find a single product to help my cystic acne, I would post my very first review. I just turned 27, never had acne as a teenager, started getting horrible, huge, cystic acne lumps about three years ago, and it kept getting worse, really a nightmare. I was afraid to go to the doctor as they would constantly try to prescribe birth control, which I am very much against. Finally, in May, I went to see a dermatologist and she suggested Aczone and warned me that it may not even help my terrible acne, and if it does, it would only start working after three months. She was right about three months, it took exactly three months until I started se"

"I'm 36 years old, and in the last 5 months, I have had terrible, severe acne in the chin area. Two weeks ago, my doctor prescribed Aczone to me, and it is working. There are no new ones, as I used to have 1-2 new bumps every day. So happy with the cream. I'm taking another cream called Retin-A-Micro and an antibiotic."

"Aczone did not help my acne at all. It made my skin burn when I applied it and also made my acne somewhat worse than before. Its side effects were extremely prominent, and my skin was dry, red, and irritated. I don't think this is the right medication for me."

"I've had moderate acne until I was about 15, then it started breaking out severely on my cheeks since I moved to Texas, with the weather and hormones starting to kick in. Also, I was always oily and still am sadly. And going to the dermatologist to figure out how to deal with it. I'm now 17, and I never wear makeup and religiously wash my face and use a toner. I went to the dermatologist recently, and they gave me a prescription of Aczone, and it cleared my face up in about 1 and a half to 2 months. My face burned, purged, and dried (don't pick!), but it helped. You just have to stick with it and give yourself a pep talk that it's worth it at the end. I'm left with a few pimples. It's better than the cystic outbreaks and clogged pores I had."

"I highly recommend trying this product. Discounts are available depending on your health insurance provider and dermatologist. At first, I didn't follow the directions and used it sometimes once a day. Once I started using it twice a day, I noticed fantastic results. This paired with CeraVe moisturizer (the night version) really did change my life."

"The 'con' is that it really does take continual use for a good 6-8 weeks to see results. The 'pro' is that when I'm using it, my skin has never been so clear. I stopped using it a month or so ago when my skin was looking great, and about a week after I stopped using it, my skin broke out again (horribly), and it reminded me of what life was like before Aczone. It really makes a difference!"
