For Allergic Reactions "I keep Periactin (cyproheptadine HCl) on hand for the occasional bout of itching. I take it once or twice a year. When this occurs, I am utterly miserable, itching all over my body. I do not have hives or any rash. This medicine works really great to calm down the allergic reaction. It has made me very sleepy, which I welcome because I will go for hours without any sleep, scratching miserably."

For Anorexia "Wow, just wow. These pills are magic. I had problems with trying to gain weight for years, and I was always skinny. I've been taking them for 2 weeks, and I gained 21 lbs, mauling that fridge like a bear. For example, I used to struggle with one plate of rice, now I can eat 3 plates of rice and still get hungry after 1 hour, like I didn't eat for a whole day. Even helped me finally get a good night's sleep, they helped me be more fearless and confident (I don't know how :D). But definitely the biggest downside is that these pills made me constantly tired and sleepy throughout the day. I could barely even function, and sometimes I even looked like I was drunk. Anyway, I recommend it to anyone that has weight gain and sleeping struggles."

For Anorexia "I bought this drug because I had heart problems, making it so hard to eat. So one day, I just asked around for appetite tablets, and I got cyproheptadine. I drank three tablets for three consecutive days, and that time, I was really skinny too. Then I stopped because of dry mouth, being irritable, and oversleeping. Lockdown started, and my appetite didn't change. When it ended, I couldn't believe how curvy I had become. Everyone was talking about my body. I got amazing curves almost overnight. My intention wasn't really to gain weight, I just wanted to eat normally, but I'm glad I got the best side effect of it."

For Anorexia "Cyproheptadine I have been taking for about 2 years. After you have reached your weight gain, once you stop taking it, you will lose weight just as fast as you put it on. If you have been taking cyproheptadine for as long as I have, it will stop working for you. It will also make you very sleepy."

For Failure to Thrive "The doctor prescribed this for my 13-year-old daughter due to a diagnosis of failure to thrive. She was severely underweight. The medication made her very sleepy after taking it for a week or so. It did make her eat more, but she complained that she never felt full no matter how much she ate. She gained 16 pounds in two months. The doctor said she could discontinue the medication, and when she did, she started losing weight. She hates this med and fights with me about taking it."

Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "Did not work for me. I was very disappointed. After seeing all these reviews, I was really hopeful. But it did nothing for me other than make me sleepy the first few days. Any other pills out there?"

For Anorexia "Just started the medication a day ago and am super sleepy and tired. I hope the side effects subside and results be appealing."
