Cyproheptadine for Urticaria "While taking this stuff, I began to have an insatiable appetite. My mouth is almost always dry, and my ears will have a screeching noise. It puts me to sleep within 20 minutes and is hard to shake off in the mornings, much worse than Benadryl. It is playing an effective role in controlling the chronic hives I have had for close to a year. Although I don't enjoy any of the side effects, I do thoroughly enjoy not having hives all the time! I have a much better quality of life since I've begun this new prescription!"

For Anorexia "I bought this drug because I had heart problems, making it so hard to eat. So one day, I just asked around for appetite tablets, and I got cyproheptadine. I drank three tablets for three consecutive days, and that time, I was really skinny too. Then I stopped because of dry mouth, being irritable, and oversleeping. Lockdown started, and my appetite didn't change. When it ended, I couldn't believe how curvy I had become. Everyone was talking about my body. I got amazing curves almost overnight. My intention wasn't really to gain weight, I just wanted to eat normally, but I'm glad I got the best side effect of it."

"I've had severe IBS since middle school and had to drop out due to daily debilitating pain. My doctor prescribed this cyproheptadine, saying there wasn't much he could do and I was probably out of luck. At first, I was so tired that I almost fell asleep while walking, really dry mouth, artificial feeling high mood, and ravenous all the time. After about 6 weeks, I had breakfast for the first time since I was very little, and I could eat carbs without being in pain for hours. The sleepiness was way less pronounced, and a year on, I just get a little sleepier than everyone else, dry mouth went away, still hungrier but not ravenous, and a lot less depressed (but that could be from IBS being fixed). Honestly, I never thought in a million years I'd be free of my IBS, but it seems like as long as I don't forget my 4 mg 3 times a day, I'm just like a perfectly normal, healthy person. It's like a dream come true. Though now, I don't dream at night, and my memory seems bad, but I'd say it's still worth it in my case."

For Migraine "I was prescribed this medication along with nortriptyline after a mild brain injury. It worked for the headaches, but caused dry mouth and weight gain. My doc thinks it's worse due to the med combo. I really want to go off the medication!"

Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "I am 5'7'' weigh 109 lbs and had three kids over 8 lbs. I am anorexic and had been doing everything to maintain a healthy weight. When I started taking Periactin (cyproheptadine), I was gaining 1-2 lbs a day. The only problem is that 3/4 of my day I was sleeping, had dry mouth and very bad mood swings. Due to my heavy work schedule, it was hard to continue taking the pills. When I stopped, I lost the weight as quickly as I gained it. 4 days ago I started taking it again and gained 5 lbs. This time once I reach my target weight of 130, I will set aside a meal plan to maintain this weight in addition to taking only 2 pills a week. I would highly recommend this medication to anyone who suffers from anorexia or has no appetite."
