"I have been taking clonazepam since 2018 for anxiety. I take it every day before work, and it helps a lot with the feeling that something bad is going to happen, helps with the feeling of doing everything wrong, jitters, etc. It has helped me tremendously, and I will be continuing to take this medication."

"Started on this drug during the summer of 2014. Prior to that, 12 months on Xanax. Xanax works for a little while (fast-acting, but the half-life is a joke), however, since most docs won’t prescribe enough to be of real benefit (after all, we’re all potential junkies, right?), times were tough for this boy. Debilitating anxiety every day. Finally, I saw a nurse practitioner who prescribed me 0.5 mg 3x a day of clonazepam. That made life bearable. These days, I take 1 mg at night for sleep… except when I revisit the anxiety zone (God, do I hate anxiety). For me, clonazepam calms the nasty anxiety."

"It has literally saved my life. I got hit rather hard with extreme anxiety and depression, put me outta work for 4 years. Clonazepam has made my life, for the most part, normal again. But for some reason, they have made it out to be as addictive as OxyContin. This makes no absolute sense, not sure who would use clonazepam to get high. It does absolutely nothing but lower my anxiety to a controllable level. Doctors will not prescribe these anymore where I live. And my life is starting to roll outta control again. I lost my job a week ago because of the anxieties. Now my day-to-day is 'why am I even here?' Doctors need to take mental illness much more seriously. To explain how debilitating anxieties are is almost impossible unless you have them as well. I am scared if a doctor won’t help me soon. I’m 50 and not a junkie in any way, shape, or form. I just need my brain to shut up enough to live a somewhat normal life. Great to hear how many people it has helped."

"I have taken clonazepam at 4 mg, TID for about 6 years for PTSD. I found it ineffective as a sleep aid. I still had lingering anxiety and, worst of all, depression. They reduced anxiety by a lot and helped with PTSD symptoms. But I have found other benzodiazepines to have better anxiolytic effects for me. I am tolerant to sedation. I have changed to diazepam, and the difference for me is noticeable. With the same tolerance, I am finding PTSD symptoms I experience to be much less intense. I am no longer depressed, and I have no underlying anxiety. I wish I had been taking diazepam from the start. But everyone is different."

"At first, when I started tapering off clonazepam (2 mg), I was very much worried reading the comments here and felt like I could never get rid of it. But here I am, today, 3 weeks sober, without any withdrawal symptoms at all! Let me share my story in brief, hoping it can help someone leave this poison. Timeline: May-Aug (4 months) Week one and two: 1.5 mg (cut off 0.5 mg) Week three and four: 1 mg Week five and six: 0.5 mg Week seven and eight: 0.25 mg After this, I started dividing 0.25 mg into so many parts and started taking one of them daily so that the body knows it’s being fed with clonazepam. After two weeks, I started tasting it, just a bit. And then tasted it again after 3 days. Then 4 days. Gradually took it to a week. And then it stopped. Not feeling anything since 3 weeks now. Mind you, this slow tapering reduces withdrawal symptoms to a minimum, hence, there were slight heart palpitations sometimes, or pain in jaws or anxiety, but not much. Best wishes!"

"I’ve been on this medication for 5+ years now, and it’s a lifesaver. I was having panic attacks in college because there were so many people around. I take 0.5 MG 4x a day, and I can go to work, friends' houses, and generally in public without the anxious thoughts that people were making fun of me. It changed my life."

"1 mg x 2 a day helped me overcome my social anxiety. It's a godsend, just be careful with this medicine and only take as needed, it's addictive."

"This medicine is very helpful, but please only take it when you need it. This medicine is very helpful, but I got a tolerance taking it. Use it as directed, as needed. This medicine is addictive, you will gain a tolerance, and you will need more for the same effect. Please listen to me and only take as needed."

"I had massive issues getting off the clonnies. It took me 3 months of tapering from 1.5 mg/day, which was still rough. They're a popular street drug nowadays, but they used to give it for bipolar II. There's better drugs for a bona fide anxiety disorder, but I'm seeing where they're an anticonvulsant. Benzos have been demonized because of the meth epidemic and opiate overdoses plaguing the country, and doctors are hip to pill shopping. All states now have the prescription drug registry, which has been catching people since its implementation. There are fake pills on the street subbed with fentanyl and not benzodiazepines, which has overdosed thousands."

"I've been taking clonazepam for about eight years for social anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. I usually take 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg a few times a week. Pros: It helps my anxiety tremendously. It makes it so much easier to socialize and focus. It helped me accomplish things I never thought I would. Cons: It impairs my memory a little bit and makes me a bit sleepy. Also, if I take it too many days in a row or at higher dosages, I experience depressive symptoms, namely a lack of motivation and trouble feeling pleasure. All in all, if you have really intense anxiety that hinders your ability to function in daily life, I'd recommend this medication. However, I personally prefer not to take high dosages or take it too frequently, as that can cause depression. Also, be aware that the drug can be extremely hard to get off of due to physical dependence/withdrawal symptoms."

"This med provides instant relief for my anxiety and negative thoughts. I only take 2 mg every other day but of course my doctor wants me off of it because it causes dependency and dementia. Well there are a lot of meds including over-the-counter sleep aids that have been linked to dementia and aren't controlled substances. Have taken antidepressants in the past for anxiety and currently trying another that has yet to kick in. They either don't work for me or cause awful side effects. For some people, Benzos are the only thing that keeps them calm. I can focus, relax, dive into tasks I put off, be social, and it also helps with pain and I can sleep better. I hope this medication is not outlawed."

"I was on 0.5 - 1 mg Klonopin daily for GAD and panic disorder for 6.5 years. Knowing what I know now about benzodiazepines, I'm not sure how my doctors ever let this fly. They should only be prescribed for short-term use (or on a PRN basis only), and certainly not daily use for years on end. Withdrawals were a nightmare, and it took months for me to feel back to normal again. When people talk about the withdrawals, they aren't joking... and this was with a slow and steady taper!! Benzos like Klonopin absolutely serve a purpose and work very well, just make sure you take it daily short-term or, if you are on it for a prolonged period of time, only as needed!"

"On Klonopin for anxiety and insomnia. Klonopin saved my life. It also improved every relationship I treasure. I've taken it for 8 years and my work has improved, my relationships have improved, and I'm more relaxed. Also, my base dose has not increased beyond 1.0 mg a day. Often it's just 0.25 mg a day. Personally, I don't have any plan to stop taking it. My wife says I'm better in everyday on it, including the bedroom. So there... :)"

"I've been on numerous medications over the last 20 years, including Xanax. About 15 years ago, my doctor put me on Klonopin. For the first time, I felt better. About 5 years later, I switched insurance companies and had my new doctor switch me to Xanax, which worked fine. After that, I've had about 4 different psychiatrists and none of them liked Xanax, so they took me off of them and put me on other meds that did not work. So I've suffered for the last 4 years. I have PTSD and anxiety. Finally, I just got a new psychiatrist, and she put me back on Klonopin, and I'm so relieved. I feel so much better. Don't let anyone tell you it's a bad medication. I never had withdrawals years ago when I quit taking them. They have helped me better than any other medication."

"I’ve been taking this drug and the same amount for 6 years. I had the addiction discussion with my Dr. His attitude is I take heart medication which I depend on. I take Clonazepam for a health issue and I depend on it. I have no side effects and I live a normal life because of it, for me it’s been a very positive game changer. I take 0.25 mg three times a day, three days on and one day off."

"This is a miracle drug for me. I was on it for 7 years and slowly worked my way off of it 9 weeks ago, taking 3 months to get off of it. I had the past 9 weeks be the most awful; it took me till last week to figure out it was anxiety. I could eat, sleep, or concentrate. Within 8 hours of my doctor writing me the script, I was back to my normal self!"

"I get annoyed when I google Klonopin and all I see is scare tactics of how it's so dangerous. It has been a lifesaver for me for the last 5 years. I never abused it or ever even got the slightest remote high from it. I take 2mg in the morning and 2mg after 5 PM. It literally saved my career as the level of anxiety that came over me was horrible and the only drug that stopped my heart from pounding out of my chest is Klonopin."

"Clonazepam is very effective for anxiety, however, dependence and tolerance can develop quickly to some of the effects. Essential to take it in accordance with the medical information provided regarding dosage, side effects, and the maximum recommended length of time it can be taken. Longer use can expose you to unexpected mental health issues. Make sure you always mention to your doctor if you take this medication, even if using just intermittently."

"The problem is that the new TEVA without the scoreline has been released and does not work the same as the old version with the scoreline. It's just addicting. It does nothing else. It has caused me to be very sick. TEVA, please bring back the old formula."

"I have been taking Klonopin for approximately 7 years now but only on an “as needed” basis. I only take 1 (0.5 mg) when I feel like I truly need it, and sometimes I just cut it in half. This drug is great for that purpose alone. I would never want to take it daily and end up with dependency. This is just my opinion and personal experience with it. I always keep it on hand for peace of mind, and my doctor (knowing I don’t abuse it) still prescribes it for me. My heart goes out to people who have been taking it daily for years and then try to wean off only to find themselves in a nightmare of withdrawals!!"

"Have taken Clonazepam for several years. Prescribed for cervical dystonia. Positive: helped control head tremor. Negative: memory impairment. I would rather have the tremor! I was not informed that there would be changes in memory and mood. Read the pharmaceutical information before taking prescriptions! Talk to the pharmacist! I did. Too late!"

"Taking clonazepam for anxiety. More social anxiety than anything else. Have been on this for a decade and started having issues with short-term memory while in school again and decided to get off it. Yes, the withdrawal is brutal, but the medication works for a while. Noticed it wasn't working like it did at the start when I switched to another drug for my anxiety."

"I have been taking 0.5 for about 10 years. It helps me sleep much better, where before I would wake up with a mind that wouldn't stop. I was on Ambien, and that was too much. Happy with my Dr.'s recommendation, as my dosage is pretty low."

"I've been taking clonazepam (2mg/day) for the past 8 years to treat GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and panic disorder, and it's been nothing but a blessing. At first, the side effects were fairly potent with grogginess and poor coordination being the most prevalent. After a couple of weeks, they subsided, and the medication fully alleviated any uneasy/anxious emotions, thoughts, and/or physical feelings. I was no longer caged in my room, fearing anything and everything outside of my comfort zone."
