Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I am a 27-year-old female who had moderate cystic acne due to inflammation caused by ulcerative colitis. I saw a dermatologist who prescribed me Bianca, the Canadian version of Ziana, and he gave me a ton of samples that I’m still using. That was August 9th, the first 2 months were rough... I wanted to stop using it multiple times because my purging period was so bad, but I was so desperate to clear my skin. My face for the first 2 months got a lot worse, it was red, itchy, painful, dry, and flaky. I also simplified my skincare routine to just a sensitive cleanser, I used the Bioderma Sensibio mild foaming gel and La Roche-Posay moisturizer. My face started to improve 2.5 months into using it, and I’m currently 3.5 months into using Bianca, and all of my cystic bumps are gone. I’m continuing to use the medication to get rid of the acne scars left behind. I never thought my skin would be this clear again. Yes, the purging period was horrible, but I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I was experiencing some bad acne for about 2 years before I went and saw a dermatologist about it. She prescribed me Ziana. My main acne was on my cheeks, which also led to brown spots. The first month on this medicine was the worst; you will want to give up, but DON’T! It made my skin super sensitive; it made you want to cry, but it hurt for tears to even touch your face. No makeup looked good because of how dry it got. About 2-3 months in, I started seeing some results. About 5-6 months in, I had no blemishes left, and the brown spots have faded significantly. There's still some there, but I was told those will take the longest to go away. I wish I knew how to share a picture of the difference."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I keep seeing people say that this leaves more breakouts and they give up. There is a reason the doctors tell you to keep at it! I have been on this product for several years now. When I first started, my skin was worse, and I had horrible peeling, redness, and itchiness. As with most things, it gets worse before it gets better. And believe me, it got better! Not only has it taken care of my acne, it has also removed several fine lines and wrinkles. The trick to this is to just hang in there! You sunblock and pamper your face in the beginning. If you stick with it like the doctors suggest, you will see improvement. The key is just trusting the doctors and using the product as directed. It takes time to work. I saw no improvement for a couple of months, and then almost overnight my face was clear. I am now such a believer in this that I don't want to use anything else! There seems to be a shortage of this right now, and I'm really hoping that it is only temporary. I think this stuff is amazing and will most definitely continue to use it as soon as it becomes available again. This is the only thing that I have found that works for me."

For Acne "So I started using this over a year ago (I'm in Canada, so its name is Biacna, but it’s the same thing). The first month, I did apply 3x/week, and my acne got really bad, it was getting itchy, and I was getting breakouts like I did in my pre-teen years! So I changed up my whole routine, turned to Cetaphil normal skin cleanser, and used moisturizer with SPF and serum from CeraVe in the morning, and at night I used moisturizer every time I wasn’t using the cream. Oh my goodness, 2 months after that I could already see a M A J O R difference, I didn’t see my acne was that bad until I saw it improving! After that, I used it every night, but if my skin was getting flaky, I stopped it until it became okay! It’s been maybe 3-4 months I’ve stopped using it and only used it when I started to see some breakouts. My skin is not perfect because now I fight against acne scars, but my pores are empty and no big cysts on the face, yayyy."

For Acne "I started with acne in 2016, where I was prescribed Zineryt lotion, which made my skin amazing-the best it has ever been. Then I started breaking out again and got the worst acne ever, so I was prescribed the Treclim gel, which is a clindamycin/tretinoin topical. For the first 6-10 weeks, I saw no improvements, and I actually thought it was getting worse, but after reading hundreds of positive reviews, I decided to stick with it. After around 3 and a half months, my skin suddenly started to clear up very quickly, and at one point, there was not a single spot on my face. However, I have noticed that whilst using this gel, it makes my skin very sensitive, and almost all my previous spots have turned into hyperpigmentation, which when using Zineryt this did not happen, so I am now spending money on microdermabrasion treatments, etc., so just something to bear in mind. This is not for someone who wants fast results, and this medication will take time, and patience is key."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I never broke out in my teenage years, but once I hit my mid-20s, I constantly battled adult acne. No matter how well I took care of my face and washed it, I couldn't get rid of stubborn acne. I decided to go to the dermatologist, and at first, he tried to prescribe me a separate antibiotic and Retin-A cream until I told him I didn't have insurance and if there was one product that would be similar in one. I'm so glad he mentioned Ziana. It was pricey out of pocket, but he gave me a coupon-type card for the pharmacy to drop it down to $65 rather than $300! (good for 6 refills) I didn't have the side effects that others mentioned, rather, my acne cleared up within a month! SIDE NOTE: USE A SPARING AMOUNT! A little goes a long way."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "My rating of 7 out of 10 is mostly just based on my hope that this is a 10. Was using TactuPump (adapalene and benzoyl peroxide) but had far too bad hyperpigmentation. I'm white as a ghost, so it looked like I was using tanning lotion or something. Biacna (Canadian name for the same drug as Ziana) has really made a mess of my face so far. I'm going to suffer through it for a couple more weeks. (It's only been one week so far). At least it's not tanning my face. So disappointed I couldn't tolerate the TactuPump. It worked really, really well. Side effects just weren't 'doable' - Biacna has so far just made my face break out like crazy and triggered a bout of rosacea around my cheeks close to my nose. Totally dry. No moisturizer has helped. I'm just trying to suck it up and deal with it for a while longer. Thanks to all who share here, your experiences really help knowing I'm not some weird case."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I do not recommend Ziana at all. I have had a terrible experience. I applied Ziana 2x, followed the instructions perfectly. I applied it Tuesday night at bedtime, I washed and dried my face and waited at least 30 minutes to apply a pea-sized amount to my face. Wednesday I woke up, my face was red, but not bad. I applied again Wednesday night the exact same way. When I woke up Thursday morning, my face had red blotches and was itchy. As the day went on, my face got progressively worse: red blotches, tiny blisters, skin peeling off, severe pain, and stinging. I immediately stopped using Ziana. Today is Saturday, and my face has only continued getting worse. I went back to the dermatologist, got 2 scripts, my face is now bleeding."

Clindamycin / tretinoin topical for Acne "I started using Veltin about a month ago for acne on my body, and all I can say is THANK THE LORD! After years of trying benzoyl peroxide products and other ineffective topical treatments, I finally found the right medication! Pros - reduces blemish size, lightens scarring and pigmentation a lot, pretty fast acting. For me, it only took a month for incredible results and still getting even better because I'm still not totally clear yet, but I'd give it 2 more weeks to be all clear. Cons - causes itchiness, peeling, and redness, but subsides after a few weeks. My tip is don't be lazy or impatient when it comes to this product because the whole purpose is to bring up the new skin that is healthy and shed the damaged skin and acne."
