For Alcohol Withdrawal "Had been drinking in excess of 15-20 cans of beer a day for as long as I can remember. No appetite, losing weight, and throwing up every morning. Went through DT's last year - horrendous - sweats, shakes, hallucinations. I had Librium, but it was too little, too late, and I fell off the wagon very quickly. Finally had enough and went to see my doctor with the support of my wife. I have been on a reducing dose of Librium for a week now and never felt better. For Alcohol Withdrawal "Alcohol withdrawal can cost your life! I have been in 4 detoxes in 8 months. I drink a gallon, sometimes more, of vodka a day. One detox was in January for 7 days, one at the end of April for 3 days, one in June for 5 days, and one in July for 5 days. Librium works wonders. The reason the days spent in detox depend on the AMA policy. Do not do this on your own. I have had seizures, convulsions, hallucinations, DTs, it's no joke. Go to your doctor, tell him/her what's going on. I drank extremely heavily, and I was prescribed 75mg every four hours on day 1, then 50mg every 4 hours on day 2, then 25mg every 4 hours on day 3, then 25mg every 8 hours on day 4, then 25mg before bed on day 5. The only way to tackle alcohol withdrawal is with Librium."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've drank heavily my whole life, mostly beer, but in the last years added vodka. I'd wake, make a vodka and water, lay back and drink it until I felt 'better' enough to get up. I wanted badly to stop, every time I tried, I got the DTs, so bad I couldn't type or write. The first day not drinking, the hallucinations started. Spiders, I thought people were there that were not, even talking to them. My best friend suggested that I might want to try detox. I still felt I could do it on my own if I could just be strong enough. Each time got worse, shakier, scarier, sicker. I finally relented. The time period before I admitted was spent drinking myself to a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.348). They immediately gave me three 25 mg pills of Librium. Then in 4 hrs, 3 more. The dreaded DTs and other frightening things did not occur. Over 4 or 5 days, they tapered the dosage of Librium. The last day I did not take the Librium, no withdrawal symptoms. I haven't drank alcohol since admitted 5 weeks ago. I have no desire. Librium was my ticket out of alcoholism."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I decided to quit drinking a few weeks ago. I experience some pretty scary side effects, including hallucinations. After two visits to the ER and one hospital stay for detox, I was still having a lot of anxiety, a fast heart rate, and insomnia for weeks. I sought the advice of my doctor, who was compassionate and prescribed me Librium. It helped me immediately. For Alcohol Withdrawal "Was a 2.5/3 pint a day vodka drinker for 3 years. I'd medicate on it. 2 or 3 shots every couple of hours around the clock. I started needing the vodka to stay asleep at night. I'd wake up with the pounding heart and shakes. And my guts were sour (constant diarrhea). I couldn't go more than 3 hours without it or I'd go into full-blown paranoia and anxiety attacks. I'm afraid of drugs. I hate pharmaceuticals. And I was done drinking, so I tried to wean myself over and over again and failed hard. Finally broke down and went to detox. Librium was their go-to. The stuff is amazing. Made detox a breeze, to be honest. I wasn't even tired on it. I felt normal, to be honest. No shakes, no paranoia, slept good (vivid dreams). 25 mg 3 times a day for 10 days."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "My uncle was drinking for over 35 years, and after detoxing once before, he was doing considerably well. Things took a downhill turn for him, and it took us a while to get him the right kind of help. Librium is the way to go. He went from convulsions, shakes, hallucinations to a few minor discomforts. For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've always done cold turkey withdrawal, and this is the first time I could function. It made me feel numb and zombie-like, but I'd rather have that than the cold turkey withdrawal. I'm a 39-year-old female who's been drinking since 15. I'm a horrible binge drinker that can go weeks with only vodka or other kinds of booze. I wake up in the morning and drink until I pass out, as soon as I wake up, I do it all over again. The only way I stop is if my husband takes my wallet, keys, and any access to $. My withdrawals kick in quick, and I feel as if I'm dying. I don't sleep for 3 to 4 days, I hear stuff that's not there, I sweat profusely, and then I'm freezing, horrible anxiety. My heart jumps at any noise, my heart races, and I get super depressed."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had maybe 7-10 detox attempts in the hospital at 30ish - was prescribed Librium but every time initially had awful hallucinations (running through wards being chased by hordes of witches) but it worked. However, 20 yrs later I still drink, my liver gamma GT hovers around 2000, yep 2K healthy peeps less than 50. Alcohol is evil, an 18-year-old can buy enough to kill them. WHY. If this helps any young person - just do NOT start drinking like I did. I am educated, top of school, had a great job and money. Now alone in pain, feeling sick - this could be you !!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "First time I went to an inpatient rehab, thought I was going to die. I was so sick, shaking uncontrollably, near hallucinating, and they gave me two tablets of which mg I don't know, and it worked wonders! I took what I imagine to be 25 mg every 4-6 hours after that, and within 3 days felt great, stayed there 5 days, and at day 4, I was ready to get out of there. Unfortunately, I relapsed and binged for a month. This time I did it outpatient, and the Dr. gave me 25 mg tabs, which I took 1 every 4-6 hours the first day, and it immediately made me feel 10 times better. Overall, the course of 5 days I slowly tapered off, and it's what I recommend to anyone withdrawing from the sauce."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I am in my 40s. Struggled with alcohol since my mid-20s. I was up to about half a large bottle of vodka a day. When I tried to stop, I had hallucinations and four seizures. My legs were bucking. After a stay at the hospital, I was prescribed Librium. I think it saved my life."

"I was put on this during my stay at an inpatient rehab center for opiate/benzo addiction. At first, it made me hallucinate (sp?) and walk into walls (50 mg). This was for detox. Then, they slowly tapered me, so there were no side effects. I am 40 days sober, but still feel anxious. I can't take any mind-altering drugs, so it wouldn't be a good idea to go back on it. I think under close doctor supervision, it's definitely worth it, even though I was walking into walls. :)"
